Any thoughts? Looking at the results so far it looks like Cobourg has improved a fair bit. Any word on the Lindsay team in the mix this year?

Could go anywhere until all the changes on teams are figured out with NRP and kids playing AAA and AA. Should be interesting if nothing else!

Ux played Cobourg last Thursday and all I can say is that they are a much better team. Very respectable and will give every team a run for their money. Fun game to watch and makes the drive to Couboug well worth it. Beautiful new facility!!

Quinte Hawks won't be a contender this year. Lost 3 guys to AAA and the girl who was one of the fastest and skilled players. Sorry Quinte. Those are the facts, and the new kids don't have the skill or speed to replace the ones that left for AAA.

Sorry Quinte parent, you actually didn't win anything last season. Uxbridge won the Lakeshore and you were omha 1/4 finalists. Last time I checked I don't think there was a banner for that distinction.

If Whitby ends up 8th, they go out 3 straight. They may all be 2-1 losses, but theyre still losses. Uxbridge gets out of the Lakeshore without breaking a sweat. Lakeshore loop is weak.

Quinte is a shadow of their former selves and no Port Perry to contend with. Uxbridge gets out EASILY. The one thing they didn't have last year was goaltending. This year they have it. Even losing top players to AAA, they seemed to become more of a 'team' and don't rely on one or two star players.

this was from a while ago but for you people who think PP beat out Quinte YOU ARE WRONG look at the playoff bracket from last year at the official OMHA website they lost to Richmond Hill in the semi finals of the OMHA's and Richmond Hill went on to win the OMHA'S. Also i would much rather be a semi finalist of the OMHA'S then lakeshore champions because hey its the toilet bowl, and it only shows you are the winner of the losers that got kicked out of the important bracket. Quinte beat PP in 4 games then lost to RH in 3 staight. Get your facts straight. If you don't believe me about that check this out

Re: 96 Lakeshore "A"

Their whole team last year was two players and 1 goalie and they aren't there now. Add those calibre of players to any team in this league and it would make a huge difference.

Have a look at what Cobourg is doing this year by adding two stud players to their lineup. Any true A centre will either be at the top of the standings or at the bottom depending on 2 or 3 kids deciding to come back or not. Players coming back are usually a low end AAA to high end AA calibre. That makes a huge difference to any A team

Re: 96 Lakeshore "A"

January 6 2012, 11:42 PM

Please. Those 2 players made your team. Coaching may have been better, but having 2 top quality players that saw a lot of ice, that's what made your team last year. Taking 4 Major Bantams doesn't help, but you need them there because you lost your two best players and needed to fill out the roster.

I guess you didn't realize Quinte west actually lost 5 players from last year not just 2. 2 players don't make a team. The problem this year is too much negativity, too many individuals, 4 major Bantams, and 3 kids that never played A hockey. Leaders on the team didn't lead. Coaches were inexperienced and really only had a few caliber players to work with. At midget hockey, that's tough.

Don't we all pay the same money it's only fair all the teams are playing 25 games

it was an unbalanced schedule, used to try to cut down on some of the travel....final standings are based on winning percentage....how do you figure we all paid the same money????....registration in Whitby is different than that in Clarington which is different than that in Quinte and so on....you don't pay any money to the Lakeshore league to play games....your comment is stupid

Quinte lost their 5 best players. 2 forwards and 1 defence went to AAA. One fwd qiut and one had to quit because of concusion issues and the girl plays hockey for the Bearcats. That's why Quinte is where they are now.

I think it's so funny that the goalies on Oshawa A who have been weak at times have been getting 40-60 shots a game. Of course the goalies parents are doing the stats! You guys are the joke of the team, we all come to the games and can see that when the puck is dumped in our end, it's not a shot.

Wake up people. Your kid is playing "A" hockey. All this talk and cutting up kids is unreal. Face it your son is not a good hockey player and is out to have fun. This is his draft year and not one scout would bat an eyelash at your team. It is all about AAA and AA may get a look. Good luck in the rest of your playoffs

Wake up 9:10. If your kid is playing AAA, he has about a 20% chance of being noticed by a scout and about a 1% chance if he's playing AA. Guess what, of those kids getting noticed, few will actually play in the OHL. I guess that means that they shouldn't give a $hit about hockey you moron.

10:11 my kid doesn't pay for his hockey, I do. And I don't pay a different price based on the quality of hockey. It's based on the number of times they're on the ice and if an A player is on the ice 3 times as much as houseleague, they'll pay 3 times as much. Basic accounting there genius.

Not from Lakeshore(Bandits) but have played against Whitby, Ajax and Uxbridge and watched Kingston.

Uxbridge is a very good team we won 2-0 however Uxbridge could have easily beaten us if it wasnt for our goalie making multiple big saves.

Kingston looked next best and IMO is better if they stay disciplined.... They looked bigger and tougher than others with alot of skilled forwards and the best D in the SS.

Ajax played well against us in a couple Tourneys but took too many Ps to takes us down.

Whitby tied us in an earlier Tourney and have excellent goaltending but at SS their players let us get inside and their good goalies couldnt be used to advantage.

They are a good all round team that plays a trap and is tough to get inside with shots. Offensively they have a few fast forechecking forwards that forecheck very well. No weakness on them but they can be beaten if you get shots on net and crash for rebounds.

Happened to most teams in this loop and most teams in Ontario in the Minor Midget year. Have a look at Uxbridge. They lost 4 or 5 to AAA and they're sitting at the top of the standings. The only team that has really benefitted and had top players come back, is Cobourg.

Re: 96 Lakeshore "A"

Doesn't matter if they're on a bottom AAA team. The fact is, they were by far, top players last year, that left. The difference is that Uxbridge was more balance than Quinte and were able to recover and pick up the slack. Quinte obviously only had a few players that contributed last year and it shows in this years poor results. Huge dropoff in talent.

Re: 96 Lakeshore "A"

sure goal save .... is when a forward takes a good close range shot that is going into the net point blank and an average goalie wouldn't make the save or react in time to make the save, but if the goalie makes the save then it becomes a sure goal save. Same as an open net when a goalie dives across and gloves it. Mostly instinct/reflexes on the goalies part, but normally doesn't happen multiple times in a game.

Re: 96 Lakeshore "A"

Uxbridge comes out easily. They are a balanced team from top to bottom. They throw 3 solid lines at you and keep coming and D and Goaltending are strongest in the league. Look at the GAA.

Cobourg has 3 kids that can play, but against a strong team like Uxbridge, they'll be shut down in a hurry.

Lindsay is an above average team. No better, no worse.

Ajax are a bunch of trailer trash idiots. Kids are becoming like their thug parents. The way they behaved against Kingston was a disgrace and embarassment to the OMHA. Once they get beat by Uxbridge in game 1, they'll fold quickly.

Uxbridge can challenge for an OMHA title this year.

The Ajax team coaches/most players and parents are an ambarrassment to their Association, the OMHA and to hockey.
For their actions vs Kingston the majority should be removed from the game for the intirety of the season.
This is coming from an Ajax parent..

Cobourg in four games. If they play disciplined hockey and don't get out coached they can win. Their number one goalie is strong and they have players who can put puck in net.

What happened to QW 7:49, is that they lost their best players to AAA or simply quit. Remaining players are a bunch of goons that can't play and the parents are hillbilly morons. That about sums it up. Can't fault the players with the shallow gene pool in QW.

Quinte West?

February 8 2012, 12:50 AM

Question? Why is there so much talk on here about QW when they have already been eliminated?

There are only 4 Teams left...Uxbridge/Ajax.....Cobourg/Lindsay.

From what I understand Uxbridge "should" be winning that series and Cobourg winning theirs.
As a Non parent, and having travelled and watched both Lindsay and Cobourg over the course of the season and well into the Playoffs...i'm going with Cobourg to top the Lakeshore "A" League because of their overall Team speed and its Coaching staff.

Yes...i've read the "Anonymous" posts about Cobourgs Game 2's loss against Lindasy complaining about being outcoached, (which is quite obviously written by disgrunteled parent who's son is on a WINNING Team for whatever his/her ridiculous reason for doing so is beyond me)...and as for the comment about Cobourgs Game 3 win because their "Key players stepped up"...while i've watched these players "key" players" mentioned produce sparingly at times in the past year....they are not the "Key players" on this Team....on any given night any Player on this Cobourg team can score goals.
This team is well balanced in scoring and has great speed. and along with their good Goaltending at times is the reason...thats why they they're winning at this time. not 1 or 2 players in general.
On a much different note....earlier, I also witnessed a severe verbal "assault" by a parent on one of the Cobourg coaching staff after "winning" their last game in Lindsay..how bizarre is that!..it was nothing but disgusting IMO!
That particular vulgar mouthed Cobourg parent should be banned from any future games in any Arena in which Minor sport is present..as there were women and small children present and within earshot.... his obnoxious type of behaviour is unacceptable in any sport and at any age.

And yes folks contary to popular belief....believe it or not Ripley... "Scouts" do actually attend and watch the "A" games throughout the year at times! Hockey is Hockey..."A" "AA" "AAA" "Junior" you just never know!

Let's see it's called a bad change 3 times in one game he pulled defense off for a change and left goalie all alone . Resulted in goals. Not the first time it's happened. No I am not a disgruntled parent I happened to be watching this series.
