The 97 age group in Halton has been on life support for years.

This is the 4th year in a row where the Coach has not picked the right players.
It's a shame. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Halton 97 AAA Kaboom? | November 20 2011, 12:09 AM |
Picked the right players? The coach has assumed the role of trainer now as to his commitment level. It seemed he only wanted his kid on the team. What a joke. I have wasted my money coming to this team and would have been happier playing AA. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Halton 97 AAA Kaboom? | November 20 2011, 10:25 AM |
Look at the Milton team....
there are atleast 5-6 players that could help Halton out but chose to stay at AA. |
|

Choose to stay or was cut? Let's get the facts right people! |

I am not talking about the boys that played last year in Halton. They were cut.
There are others on that team that could help

if i recall the team sucked when the kids from milton were on it as well. maybe it doesnt matter that in fact there just isnt enough local AAA talent period |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Halton 97 AAA Kaboom? | November 20 2011, 1:54 PM |
The funny thing is players change and get better over the years. The 97 age group picks players based on previous years accomplishments. They also pick players outside of the zone over local players.
It started with having ML coaching a few years ago.
Now with AA it has not changed.

wont matter this year or next year with a regional team Will always be someone complaining and number one excuse is coach from other town only picks favourites. move on guelph is just down the road sure you can make it there |

Anonymous (no login) | Re: Halton 97 AAA Kaboom? | November 20 2011, 6:51 PM |
Problem with HH is the paid coach. Guy has no idea what he's doing. He tried to recruit my kid this year and both my son and I had no idea what he was saying. AA is the head coach, but this paid coach D? Is the the no brains behind the team. And he claims he coaches junior hockey. I'm not surprised that the team is not doing well. As he recruited he confused us imagine him coaching the game. We made the right choice this year hopefully you all will next season.
Cheers |

Halton beat Guelph, that's something they have achieved.I don't think these bottom 2 teams will ever be successful.
Not enough talent to suit 1 team. Coaching for both teams have been horrendous.
There's always next year and the year after! |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Halton 97 AAA Kaboom? | November 21 2011, 12:58 PM |
Wrong. After next year there is nothing left to play for. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Halton 97 AAA Kaboom? | November 21 2011, 1:27 PM |
Its not so much a coaching issue, although it hasnt helped. I would say its more a league thing and that Halton released all the strong 97 players four years ago and have been struggling ever since. This age group will never get any better unless they bring back all the strong boys who left. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Halton 97 AAA Kaboom? | November 21 2011, 1:35 PM |
Agreed that all the boys who left years ago would help. But some are not what they were when the left!!!
I would say only a handful are still top end players.
But much better then what ir currently on Halton now |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Halton 97 AAA Kaboom? | November 21 2011, 2:33 PM |
Get over it! Players that left 4 years ago were good, no doubt, but a lot of growth and development takes place over the 4 years. There are other players. Look at Brampton for example, last year they primarily built the team around good AA players and they look to be doing just fine this year. They took the best players they could, Halton did not, made some bad choices. Coach is not near dedicated enough to coach this level and didn't do his homework. This team was destined to fail again based on the preparation, or lack there of, this coach has demonstrated since he's been in charge of this team. Stop blaming players that haven't been here for years. This thought process is nothing more than an excuse to do a bad job and have another losing season, while some undeserving kids get under coached at AAA. It's laughable. |

|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Halton 97 AAA Kaboom? | November 21 2011, 4:19 PM |
It all starts with the backwoods Halton organization. No accountability and no respect. Old boys network who are stubborn and set in their ways. Still hanging onto the hope that one day all kids will be forced to play in their home centres, despite the quality of hockey programs that they offer. The 97 who left 4 years ago did so because of the lack of credibility that the organization brings. Fix the club, then the good players will have a reason to stay. |

JM from Milton has this team next season. 8 Milton kids will be on this team next season including his daughter and asst. coaches kid. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Halton 97 AAA Kaboom? | November 24 2011, 10:08 AM |
No coach would play his daughter in M.Midget AAA. You my friend are a fool. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Halton 97 AAA Kaboom? | November 24 2011, 10:33 AM |
Well there's where you're wrong. JM has been repeatedly told to get his daughter into girls hockey. Is she Milton's worst D? No. However he likes the control he has and will not sacrifice that for common sense. I am frankly surprised if this rumor is true regarding JM coaching Halton. I would have thought that LP has positioned himself very well for that job. Time will tell. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Halton 97 AAA Kaboom? | November 24 2011, 10:52 AM |
LP was a horrible 97 AAA coach in Brampton. He held kids back from playing AAA the entire time he was there, so he could double shift his crews kids. Would continue to double shift kids even when blowing other teams away. Developed nobody except JS. Bramptons been better since he was forced out a couple seasons ago. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Halton 97 AAA Kaboom? | November 24 2011, 11:00 AM |
I'm curious than, why does JM get teams to coach if he has been repeatedly told to put his daughter in girls hockey? It would seem quite easy to me to not give him a team if his daughter is on it? |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Halton 97 AAA Kaboom? | November 24 2011, 11:20 AM |
I am a Milton AA parent. I have heard from several people that JM is getting the team next year. He would be good for this age group. The one catch is his daughter will not be able to play AAA. A decent D at AA but would struggle with the speed and bigger kids at AAA.
|
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Halton 97 AAA Kaboom? | November 24 2011, 11:48 AM |
I have never met JM. I have heard he is a good coach and has done an incredible job with the Milton team. My guess, if he is a good coach, he wouldn't even consider playing his daughter at the AAA level at Minor Midget. I can't believe people are even suggesting he would bring his daughter to AAA, unless he is telling people that. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Halton 97 AAA Kaboom? | November 24 2011, 12:01 PM |
Let's pick on JM with his kid? Let's pick on LP with holding back kids? Let's pick on RR cause he was overplayed his son on the big games? Let's pick on ML cause he could not coach.
For the record NOT ONE APPLICATION went in for this team two seasons ago. AA actually withdrew his application in the end. TF and BW begged him to take the team then. AA stepped up to the plate and delivered. The team is not winning like back in the day and will not win because of the releases. When coaches try and hold onto the kids TF and BW force the coach to release them.
AA was promised this team until MM and he should be given the team until then. JM would not improve the team and RR LP and ML do not want this team. We can always give the team to JS!
Enjoy the read. |

JM is a snake in the grass. He says things you want to hear. He's a liar. Playing one line got the Milton team improved. He will never win the big game he's just not smart enough to adjust to other teams. He belongs at the AA level. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Halton 97 AAA Kaboom? | November 24 2011, 12:52 PM |
12:06, I know your new to the sport, you obviously haven't talked to many coach's in your time. They all tell you what you want to hear. When they figure out your not good enough, they cut you the following season. My guess is your child falls into this category. It is a rare occurance at this level you can win any games playing one line, so obviously you are still very bitter about JM.

|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Halton 97 AAA Kaboom? | December 7 2011, 2:30 PM |
Slow-down...Milton AA hasn't won anything yet. When you win the OMHA's then you can talk. Once you lose there...you will be chasing the Toilet Bowl Trophy like most of the teams. If AA kids are that good, they should get a release from Halton & try other AAA centres, I see no stars on the AA team, they play well as a group. Leave it at that! |

This is real funny, Brampton gets destroyed by Milton after being thoroughly outplayed and outclassed. Now all of a sudden Miltons popping up on different threads claiming their dominence. You can't do better than Brampton parents? It's obvious that parents on that team are trying to trash the Milton team! Milton is a good team with good players that work hard. When they play well they have a chance to beat most teams, when they don't they are very beatable. It wasn't very long ago we were, what seemed to be like losing every game. For now we are enjoying the ride and hope that it continues for the rest of the season. When it appears Milton is pounding its chest, you can be assured its Brampton parents that for whatever reason hate to see Milton do well. They come on here and pretend to be overzelous Milton parents trying to make them look foolish. The real fools are the Brampton parents that come on here to do this. Is your season really going that badly? You are sitting third and are improved over last year. Enjoy your success and breathe!! |

Bantam AAA
The Bantam AAAs breezed past the competition at their qualifier in Guelph, posting a 5-0 record while outscoring their opponents 23-5 in the process.
The hosts were the first to fall, losing 6-0 last Friday afternoon.
The Rangers then doubled the Brampton Battalion 4-2, blew past the Halton Hurricanes 4-1 and beat the Niagara Falls Rivermen 4-2 in the round-robin finale.
Dhs Rangers squad routed Hamilton 5-0 in their final game of the tournament and punched their ticket for the OMHAs in Whitby this weekend.
The Rangers will open play against the
York Simcoe Express at 1 pm Friday and follow that with a 5 pm start against the host Wildcats.
On Saturday, Oakville will try to tame the Barrie Colts at 11 am and outflank the Brampton Battalion at 4 pm. |

Tampering & Tryouts
February 22, 2012
The following should provide clarification for all MOHA members, players, coaches and bench staff.
Definition: Ontario Minor Hockey
a) Tampering is defined as any attempt or act, directly or indirectly, by any OMHA team official(s)
or individual(s), to recruit a player away from the team/club that hold his player rights.
NOTE: Tampering between an OMHA team and a team from another OHF Member Partner will be
subject to OHF Tampering regulations.
b) No Hockey Canada team may invite or allow participating in its training or tryout camp, practice
session or any other on-ice or off-ice event, a player whose playing rights are held by another
team/club without the player first having been properly released by the team/club holding
those playing rights. For failure to comply with this regulation, the responsible team/club and
the player shall be sanctioned. Such sanction may include any or all of the following:
(i) The player shall not be permitted to register, or to remain registered, for the current
and following hockey seasons with the team/club found guilty of tampering. Further
disciplinary action may be taken by the OMHA board.
(ii) The team/club shall be assessed a fine of up to $500.00 payable to the OMHA. (iii)
The team official(s) involved shall be assessed a minimum of fifteen (15) games
suspension (regular season or playoff or playdowns), during which time the team
officials(s) shall be suspended from all OMHA activities. An individual not currently
registered with the team/club, but found guilty of tampering, shall not be permitted to
register with any team/club for the current and following hockey seasons.`
Ontario Hockey Federation - Regulation G
G2. Tryouts
a) No tryouts or related on or off-ice activities directly or indirectly (including skating parties,
conditioning camps, refresher programs, etc.) may be conducted prior to the completion of the
OHF Minor Hockey Championships.
b) All players attending tryouts must have permission, in writing, from the team/association/club
with whom they are registered or remain a member. Players who do have this permission are not
eligible to participate.
c) Teams are responsible to keep track of these written permissions. Failure to do so may result in
the team being found guilty of tampering, in accordance with the process outlined in OHF
Regulation G3.
d) Any written permission to tryout is deemed invalid once a player signs a Hockey Canada
registration for the current season.
e) Written permission to tryout does not, in manner, constitute a player’s release.
Page 2 of 2 Last Revised 2012-02-22 / 10:19:45 PM
G3. Except as between teams within the same Member Partner which have complied with the Rules
and Regulations of that Member Partner, no OHF team may invite to, or allow to participate in its
training camp, practice or any scheduled or exhibition game, a registered member of another OHF
team from the previous season or the current season, in any division or category, without having
first obtained permission in writing. Such written permission shall be in the form of a
statement filed with the team for which the player is registered signed by the designated signing
officers of that team.
H8. Any registered Minor Hockey player or team Official who participates in a game, tournament, training
camp, prospect camp, selection camp or any other similar event (other than those organized and operated by
recognized academic institutions or native people organizations) that is not sanctioned by the OHF or a
Member Partner and that interferes with his OHF team’s regular season or play-off schedule shall
immediately be suspended for one year |

Hearing they are not getting back who they think they are, and that some that were considering going to Halton are having second thoughts. Clearly they have not done their homework in recruiting, this may bite them in the ass, as some good players will now not come to Halton as the so-called Dream Team is not going to happen. |

And yes along with home grown talent some talent coming in from OR and BB so this will indeed be a team to be reckoned with next season. And don't worry if you don't have a spot anymore Burlington and Guelph are both looking for players so there are spots to go around. Several G teams looking for players still as well. |

Anonymous (no login) | Re: Halton 97 AAA Kaboom? | March 23 2012, 2:33 PM |
Old coach RR is in the middle of this. Wants a spot for his boy because he did not have a great year with the JRC. He convinced,DK,MD,CK, his kid from the JRC.
These kids coaching may end up a disater, but then again may not. One thing is for sure, this team will not challenge for top spot. But, with some talentcoming back look, for them to crawl out of the basement and keep around .500. |

My kid plays in Caledon, but was told from a school mate who plays on that team that he was balling his eyes out after a game. He took himself out of the game and said he quits. At practice it's not much better, quits when he gets scored on in practice and constantly starts fights with his team mates. Starting picking fights and pushing around the smaller kids in the dressing room until others stepped in. Then he cried to the coaches that he was being picked on. Not the ideal goalie you want on your team, but certainly can steal a game for you when he's on his game. Is it worth it? |

Halton can have RR recruits from JRC. Only decent one is CK. The twins from VK will also help. Don't see this team much over .500. |

The only Oakville kids jumping 'ship' were the ones that weren't gonna have a seat anyway.
Nice theory though... on the 100 year anniversary of the Titanic sinking.
Hey...what does 97 Halton MM team have in common with the Titanic? Lots of so- called experts saying the the team/ship will sail through and be unsinkable.
Watch out for that iceberg!!! |

Should stay on your oakville or Brampton thread. No sinking in halton. Wishful thinking tho... |

Listen I don't care who is on my team I will make them a champion and if you don't want to play I will mess your kid up, because they need to support hometown hockey. |

Tryouts? The players were offered spots not an opportunity to tryout. Although they haven't technically signed cards, they have made the team. This team doesn't need tryouts. What a sham!!!! |

1:28, define really strong. Miltons best forward from what I seen this past weekend is not strong enough for AAA. Talented, but gets knocked off the puck way to easily and I don't think he made a body check all weekend. AAA a tougher game to play. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Halton 97 AAA Kaboom? | April 17 2012, 2:52 PM |
No Milton players will make this team!
They are just not good enough to play at AAA.
Why would a Milton player come on this Halton team to be a 9th or 10th forward and sit on the bench all game!
Not to mention most of the players returning are forwards. |

Hear four Oakville Rangers have chosen to leave the crowd in Oakville and are joining Halton. Huge addition to go with the kids returning home. This puts Halton into the top 2 discussion right away. |
