Mostly even from what we can tell. One US team is very strong and will be in the final for sure, that's Chicago. Compuware not as strong as other years. Many players left for BT. One year makes a differnce. Ontario teams Marlies look strong and Oakville, Vaughn, surprisingly London not as strong but who knows.

Check the site its all on there. This year its a weak tournament with weak teams. Canadian teams will struggle next round except for the predictable Marlies. Oakville is strong, London appears tops but in weakest pool of US & Can. Vaughn a very strong team. Thought SC would do better but they had the stronger US teams and are with the Marlies in their pool. Elgin & Vaughn will be done too. Easy to predict the final win here. Too bad Nations Cup & Can Ams aren't what they used to be. $$$$$ $ grab!

Weak teams? Guess you weren't invited again, huh? According to the website, US teams incl (from myhockeyrankings) #1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 15 and 18 and Cdn (ON) teams incl #1, 2, 3, 8, 10, 16 and 18. So far, it looks like Canada has won way more games than the US. The best news is that Vaughan Kings beat the #1 US team, and even the worst Cdn team (titans) managed to tie the #3 and 5 US teams, so guess hockey up here is still better than US.

London not good enough to beat BT today. In the Aliance where London plays Sc & Elgin are better than London. Oakville and Marlies are the Canadian teams to beat. SC 3rd, Elgin 4th Vaughn then London from what I've seen. London doesn't rotate players fatigued by the end of 2nd. BT will beat them out then will account for Oakville

What an embarrassment from a couple of Canadian teams in the NC cup.

Or is it the coaching? Did they (coaches) lose there mind?

Will they coach when they get home or will they quit?

its good in the way that a couple of shitty canadian teams can hide in the shadow of a couple of true elite teams under one umbrella. It's also good for bragging parents who might actually believe their son is representing canada in something akin to the olympics (trust me, some parents out there are treating it as such).

Re: Nations Cup '97

The Nations Cup youth tournament is a great weekend for the kids to come together and play as a country. Its not like other hockey tournaments where "your team wins" and "your team advances" and the competitiveness is there. It also costs alot for a team to enter and travel some teams/parents cannot afford to go. Its just for fun. It's a wonderful experience for the kids to meet other players, play some hockey and enjoy the weekend. The jersies that the players get to keep are the greatest momento of the weekend, moms go shopping, and everyone gets together to watch the kids play hockey at the rinks. This might be the only time these kids get to know what it feels like to play in the "big leagues". What could be better than that! It doesn't really matter who wins or loses, or if all the teams are of great caliber. They are all different strengths. It the spirit of togetherness, especially at this time of year. The US represented well and so did Canada. Good luck to all the teams as they return to their regular season of play!

So Ontario plus 8 Russian kids verses the super rich in the USA. Yes it is a fun tournament but has nothing to do with Canada. This is not representative of Canada in any fashion. If it was other Provinces would be included.

TT goalies faced 30-40 shots a game and still kept the goals against low... i don't see anything wrong with them at all!

All of the games played were close, both on the board and in shot counts. So if the shots were 30-40 then the other goalies stopped that many as well. Good hockey over-all.
