i'm thinking more like Mississauga Terriers vs Michigan Ice Hawks in the final...unless they play each other earlier and the winner of that would end up being the champ. |

What does this have to do with Bantam AA hockey?!? |

Anonymous (no login) | Re: Port Huron SilverStick 97AA | January 3 2012, 4:50 PM |
Everyone is sick of US minor hockey teams building "dream teams" during the early years and always bragging about how good they are.
Then once real hockey gets played Canadian teams built from within city limits show who really are the winners. |

Anonymous (no login) | Re: Port Huron SilverStick 97AA | January 3 2012, 4:52 PM |
Favourites have to be Terriers and Ice Hawks.
Oakville won it last year which helps them with experience but don't think they have quite enough talent compared to top 2 teams.
Richmond Hill has an outside shot as well.

1st place in each division will move to quarters with three teams also making the quarters with a wildcard birth being decided with GF%.
Pool A: should be won easily by the Oakville team. One of the wildcards could come out of this division as being either Tampa or Darien (thinking Tampa), depending on who wins between these two teams and how badly this winner can beat up on the lowly Port Huron team. With the weak Port Huron team this will help other teams in this division have a higher GF% for a wild card spot.
Pool B: Richmond Hill should come out of this pool as the 1st place team with the possibility of the Sarnia Sting being in contention for a Wild Card spot.
Pool C: Gloucester or Southpoint will win this division depending on who wins between these two in head to head action as both teams are pretty even. Who ever losses between these two should be able to gain a wildcard spot with a higher GF% with having to play one of the weaker teams in the tourney in the Foothill team which will help elevate their GF%.
Pool D: This is probably the toughest division in the tourney with the #1 team in the US-Michigan Ice Hawks winning the division. New Jersey, North Toronto and York will battle it out for second place but i'm thinking that unfortunately non of these three teams will get a wildcard spot because the games will probably be so close in score that their GF% will be too low to move on but one of these three teams should because they are probably better than some of the other teams that will get a wildcard spot but are playing in the toughest division.
Pool E: You have two more top teams in this division with the #1-Canadian team Mississauga Terriers but don't count out the Farmington Hills team. The Terriers/Flames should be a good game with one of them winning the division while the other should get in as a wildcard as both these teams should have no problem with the rest of their division.
Pool A: Oakville Rangers
Pool B: Richmond Hill
Pool C: Gloucester Rangers
Pool D: Michigan Ice Hawks
Pool E: Mississauga Terriers
Possible Wilcards: Tampa (based on playing the weakest team), Sarnia, Southpointe (based on playing a week team as well), Farmington, possibly anyone from pool D |

Oakville is lucky with the division they're in.
Terriers better hope that they get a wildcard.
Michigan Ice Hawks and Farmington will be the ones to beat.Oakland Grizzlies not too shabby. |

I see you are already making excuses for Oakville to win. If they win its because they are in the weak loop, weak qualifier, weak early bird grouping. Give up already. I suppose last year they were in a weak International Silver stick that they WON. Returning champs and they are lucky????? As long as you think that and it makes you happy. |

If Terriers and Oakville are in the same tournament, one thing can be guaranteed of that tournament... Oakville will never be champion. |

1:02, The Terriers and Oakville were in the Earlybird together and as you know, Oakville were champions of that so take perhaps you should think before you speak or does McDonalds not allow you enough time on your break to think?? Its ok live in your little Terrier world and enjoy. You guys have a great team but people like you are why everyone hates the team. Not because of their success. Now STFU |

|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Port Huron SilverStick 97AA | January 4 2012, 4:44 PM |
Of coarse you would expect the MIH and MT to meet in the final...and it should work out that way with both #1 teams from their respective coutries meet in the final. Oakville and Farmington will be hanging around also near the final 4....but that's in a perfect world. Anyone can win on a given day....and i'm hoping some under dog team can play the best hockey of their lives on this weekend and i'm hoping some under dog team can go all the win and win it.....it will be a tough but its the reason why we all play the games and not just hand the trophy over before it even happens....yes you should see all the above mentioned teams in the quarters.....but come on...deep down 99% of the people are hoping for an underdog to win it all.....its how history is written....hence the USA/Russia mircle on ice....or the summit series with Canada/Russia.......great moments are borm from great opportunity!!! Good Luck to all the teams!!! |

Earlybird Your kidding right.
No team cares about the Earlybird ,however Jokeville does apparently.
What about the London Triple 20 now that's a very good measuring stick and guess what , Oakville failed again!!
Who won that tourney? Oh, that's right ,and who did they beat in the final , oh that's right again.
Answer to question #1 MT .Answer to question #2 Jokeville |

MT are just too strong for the competition. Not a MT parent, but have seen them enough to know that over half that team should be playing on a mid to top quality AAA team - and will be next season. They just have too much talent for the rest of the talented teams to handle. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Port Huron SilverStick 97AA | January 5 2012, 5:53 PM |
OK MT Dad if they could they would they just have the luxury of drawing from a large area and people flocking to play for them because of their rep lots of top notch AA but No mid level AAA's

MIH will win this SS.....MT and OR....your just going to have to settle for leftovers!!! |

Anonymous (no login) | Re: Port Huron SilverStick 97AA | January 11 2012, 10:59 AM |
Ok....listen up MT...yes your a good team but your not our calibre. Unless you have AAA after your name you don't stand a chance with us. Have a look at our scores and teams we've played (go to MHR). We only have two loss's and 1 tie...those both came at the hands of AAA teams. Other than that we are undefeated against anybody in AA. Stay in Canada....once you cross the border your going to find out the hard way when you play us!!!! |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Port Huron SilverStick 97AA | January 11 2012, 11:10 AM |
No, you listen up.
Arrogant Americans at it again.
Leave the hockey to us and you just focus on your basketball and football.
By the way, if you are that great, why aren't you playing AAA this weekend in Port Huron SS apparently you say you beat up on them as well?? Maybe your not as good as you think and I guess we'll see about that at the end of the month. |
|

One week away is correct....MIH is a clear favorite...MT could easily give them a run for their money....Farmingham will finish in the quarters tops....OR is the wildcard...last year their achilles heal was their goaltending....this year that asset alone is probably the best in the whole tourney....MT's tenders are Shakey |

Typical American bafoonery.
Also, if you know anything about North American hockey and you were a betting man,and your choice was to pick a winner between the 1st ranked team in the US and the 1st ranked team in Canada
I think your choice would be an easy one .I'm pretty sure most ,if not all would go with the team that has owned the sport the past 100 years.
And don't worry Terriers are not intimediated by anyone wait till you see.
Stick to football and b- ball, and we,ll just stick to what we do best..hockey

Anonymous (no login) | Re: Port Huron SilverStick 97AA | January 26 2012, 7:47 AM |
Just a little confused here.
Is the MIH really a AAA team?
Just noticing they lost a game to the Oakland Grizzlies AA team but that same Oakland Grizzlies AA team played at the Silver Stick AAA final as their schedule shows from their website and yet play in the same leaugue it appears with Farmington and MIH as those games are on schedule as well.
Here's the link.
http://www.hometeamsonline.com/teams/default.asp?u=OJG-4&t=c&s=hockey&p=schedule&d=20120101
just let me know if I'm just seeing things or is this just corrupt American minor hockey at it's finest again
Maybe that's why this SS tourney maybe has as lost it's luster with no guidance from executives and verification of teams qualifying in their appropriate levels
So is MIH and Farmington really AAA teams playing AA to satisfy their own egos because they can't play with the big boys?
Just an observation especially when I see this MIH team banging their chests on how great they are I guess they are for AA but not so great a AAA team which appears they really are. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Port Huron SilverStick 97AA | January 26 2012, 7:56 AM |
They're AA who played in AAA tournaments. And yes they're that good.
The Canadian teams will be in tough against the US tournament teams. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Port Huron SilverStick 97AA | January 26 2012, 8:06 AM |
so let me get this right this Oakland Grizzles AA was allowed to play in a AAA Silver stick final?
I can see entering random AAA tourneys throughout the season but a AAA silver stick final? |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Port Huron SilverStick 97AA | January 26 2012, 8:11 AM |
7:56 AMĀ
If they are that good why are they playing AA and not AAA, why didn't they enter the AAA silver stick final like Oakland Grizzlies
or do they just like to pick their spots
I guess playing where they should be playing not good for their egos

The americans also change their rosters each tournament depending on who they can get. Also check if all of the players are born in 97 or are classified by their school year of July to June. US tourny so US rules. |

Anonymous (no login) | Re: Port Huron SilverStick 97AA | January 26 2012, 10:35 AM |
OK.....I'm from neither of these teams but know about each of them. The Michigan Ice Hawks are a very very good team, they have a huge budget that includes a Warrior sponsorship which you will notice with all their warrior stuff, they have all kinds of money to hold extra skates and practices and shooting practices and goaltender practices and bring in some top quality people to run them as their coach doesn't. Remember...Michigan only has 6 AAA teams in the entire state (Belle Tire, Victory Honda, Compuware, Caesars, Honeybaked, PK Warriors) that's not alot of teams in the AAA where as here in Ontario Look how many teams we have...over 60!!. I know Ontario has alot bigger population of kids playing hockey than Michigan but say Ontario only had like half the AAA teams we do know and that means say 30AAA teams just imagine how much better all the AA teams would be in the province. Imagine cutting the GTHL AAA teams in half and the rest go to AA. That's the difference between Michigan Hockey and Ontario Hockey. Also in Michigan there are no border or import rules where as in Ontario we do and are limited to what we can do with legal and illegal players and where they can come from. With the MIH having such a good program they have so many kids showing up to make their team its insane, think about having to pick 17 kids out of 150 that show up....wish our numbers and the calibre of kids like that would show up for our tryouts instead of having like 45 kids show up and 25 of them should be playing houseleague because of our location!! You should see the program the MIH run in the summer as well. If the State of Michigan were to add another AAA team to the loop....MIH would be that team because the kids who were last cuts on all these other 6 powerhouse AAA teams ended up on MIH.....a AA team beating them this weekend is a huge accomplishment or even just playing with them. Mississauga Terriers are also a very very good team but do have some rules they have to bend or manipulate in order to get some of their players, but make no mistake this has been a top quality team for the past number of years and because of MT's success have been able to draw some top quality kids to their program as the best players usually like to play on the best teams Imagine how good MT would be if half the mississauga AAA teams were removed.
Well good luck to everyone, it would be a great final if both #1 teams MIH and MT were to meet in the final but its hockey and anything can happen. I'm Canadian and will be cheering for a great showing from the Canadian Teams as they are outnumbered with 13 Teams from the US compared to just 7 teams from Canada. I think it would be great if some underdog team would make the final four. |

11:47 here.....
Of coarse toro's have a chance, I just didn't pick anyone to come out of that Pool other than first place because MIH will run the table in that division and could win by some big scores if teams aren't ready for them. The Toro's, North and New Jersey are all pretty close in calibre and alot of these games are probably going to be 1 goal games if not some tie's. So if you don't get first in your division you will have to fight for a wild card and you will need to atleast be 2W-1L or 2W-0L-1T to move on. This pool is probably the toughest to come out of because other division have some really good teams but they also have some poor teams in them so even if someone lose's to the top team in their division they will still get to play a weaker team and help their GF%....where as in the toro's division 3 teams are pretty equal. Look at Pool A for instance....Oakville should beat everyone in their pool by a minimum of three goals and no less and that will help their GF% amongst the other 1st place teams and will probably get the #1 spot heading into the quarters because the other divisions are harder than Oakvilles and have atleast two decent teams in each except for Oakville's. Look at division E....MT and Farmington should be a good close matchup with MT winning....both these teams should beat up on the rest of their division which in turn will help Farmington's GF% moving them into atleast a wildcard spot. Then again there's always upsets....its hockey
Go Canada!! |

Sad to see that Division so stacked
Feel bad for those 3 teams as they would have had a chance to move on if they were in any other division but that one
What were they thinking when they made up these divisions. |

some very valid comments on this site. I haven't seen the Mississauga Terriers play but my son's team went 1-1 with MIH two close games . They are a very good, disciplined team and will be tough to beat at this tourney. But as one post stated it's hockey anything can happen in one game.
My sleeper pick is Farmington Hills. Also played them this year. Very sound defensively but goals seem hard to come by at times. |

Thursday Results
Oakville 8 - Port Huron 0
Marquette 3 - Richmond Hill 1
Sarnia 9 - Wonderland 4
Tampa 3 - Darien 0
Gloucester 8 - Southpointe 2
Northbrook 4 - Foothill 2
Canada teams did well with 3w-1L. Oakville win was expected, Richmond Hill loss was a big surprise, Sarnia large win was a surprise and Gloucester figured would win but the margin was a big surprise.

11:47 here again.......
Looks like day one finished up with Pool's A,B,C in action.
Pool A
Oakville win over the Flags was expected but the score was more than I had worked out as I had them at a 6-7 goal margin.
Tampa' win over Darien was expected but the score was again more than I had worked out as I had Tampa winning by one goal.
Winners of the two matchups above will play each other today while the two losers will play. Oakville should beat Tampa with no problem and Darien should put the host team Flags out of any possibility of moving to the quarters.
Pool B
Marquette's win over Richmond hill was a huge surprise to me. I had Richmond Hill beating Marquette by two goals but it ended up the other way around. Maybe the Marquette team is the sleeper this year and the underdog team no one gives credit too.
Sarnia's win over Wonderland was expected but the score was more than I had worked out as well, I had the Sting with a 2 goal win.
Winners of the two above matchups will play each other today while the two losers will play. I think I'm liking this Marquette team as the sleeper team and think they will win today over Sarnia but on my sheet I worked out I have Sarnia to win by two goals. Richmond Hill should beat the Wizards today crushing any of their hopes of moving on.
Pool C
Gloucester's win over Southpointe was a huge suprise in the margin of victory. I had figured that Gloucester would win but only by a goal. Gloucester huge win over Southpointe could really hurt the rink rats GF% when it comes down to the wild card. They need some big wins in their next two games and should win both but really need to rack up so goals.
Northbrooks win over Foothill was expected and the margin of victory was exactly what i had figured at 2 goals.
Winners of the two above matchups will play each other today while the two losers will play also. Gloucester should have no problem with Northbrook and Southpointe will rebound from their loss and end any possibilities of the Foothill Flyers of moving on.
For Pools A,B,C this is a big day for these pools as the winners from all three pools will play each other today which means some teams are going to be one and one while others move to the top of their division at 2-0. The losing teams from day one all play each other also and 3 teams will already be eliminated from any chance of a Wildcard spot.
For Pools D,E alot of the tournament favourites hit the ice today as the SS winner will mostly likly come from one of these two divisions.
All teams will have played two games by the end of today.
Good Luck to all...gotta go!!!

11:47 here again.......
Wow....i'm a little shocked tonight...but I guess the old saying of....that's why we play the games comes to mind.
Pool A
The Oakville Rangers who were suppose to sweep Pool A stumbled today, I heard the Rangers were having a mid day practice in Sarnia with skates only as it didn't help them on this night as the Tampa Raiders stepped up to the plate and tied the Rangers. Also in pool A a surprising win by the lowest ranked team and host Port Huron Flags came away with a victory over Darien eliminating the Wave from making the quarters dispite still having one game left. Oakville and Tampa should both with tomorrow giving both teams 5pts and GF% will come into play to determine this division winner. Who ever doesn't win Pool A is still sitting in good position to steal a wildcard spot with 5pts as most other teams could be sitting at 4pts for the wildcard.
Pool B
Both Marquette and Sarnia played to a 2-2 tie as both teams sit with 3 points. Richmond Hill squeaked one out against the Wizards 5-4. I had figured that Richmond Hill would take this division but it seems that Sarnia and Marquette have stepped up. Marquette will have an easier road tomorrow as they will take on the winless Wizards and Sarnia and Richmond Hill will be the big contest in this division. Richmond needs a win or they will be eliminated as a tie won't help them. If Sarnia tie's they still have a chance with 4 points but if Sarnia wins they will have 5pts also and Sarnia and Marquette could come down to the GF% for the division winner, if both teams are at 5pts the team that doesn't win Pool B will also be sitting with 5pts and in a good spot for a wildcard berth.
Pool C
Gloucester moved into first place in Pool C with a 3-1 victory over Northbrook. Gloucester will now take on the winless Foothill Flyers saturday. Southpointe responded after a big first day disappointing loss to Gloucester with a solid 6-2 win over Foothill. Gloucester has sealed first place in this division as they have beaten both Southpointe and Northbrook and they are the only teams who can tie Gloucester but head to head Gloucester gets the tie breaker. Southpointe and Northbrook will lock horns tomorrow with the winner having a shot at a wildcard spot which there may not be many left.
Pool D
Well a huge upset has happened in the tournament....the York Toros have surprised everyone at the tourney and they have got to be the dark horse in this tourney. On the first day the Toros handed the Bandits their first loss of the season as the Bandits were 39W-0L-2T heading into this tournament. Then the Toros beat the Michigan Ice Hawks...the team that is heavily favoured to win this tournament. The ice hawks were bringing in a 39W-3L-1T into the tournament with two of their loss's coming only to AAA teams. New Jersey sqeaked a win out on North Toronto 6-5 eliminating any chances of North moving on. York is now in the same spot as Gloucester as they have now secured first place because they have beaten both New Jersey and MIH and they are the only teams who can catch them and the Toros have the advantage as they have won the head to head. MIH and New Jersey will lock horns tomorrow and will be fighting for a wildcard spot at 4pts. There could be the possibility of MIH not moving on which could be huge if they don't and a disappointing showing for the team that is one of the favourites to win.
Pool E
Mississauga has locked up first place in this Pool as they are in the same boat as York and Gloucester with having gone undefeated so far and will win the tie breaker in their pool having beaten the other two teams but this shouldn't really matter as the Terriers should have no problem beating the winless California Cougars. After Farmington had a huge win in their first game...fell to one of the tournament favourites in the Terriers by a score of 6-1, people thought this would be a much closer contest but the score shows otherwise. Farmington and Long island will play tomorrow for a chance at a wildcard spot both teams have had alot of goals scored for and against and the GF% is not working in their favour right now.
So....Gloucester, Mississauga, York have all locked up 1st place in their respectice Pools C,D,E. First Place in pools A & B are still up for grabs and will come down to some matchups tomorrow.
Darien Wave, Wonderland Wizards, Foothill Flyers, North Toronto, California Cougars have been eliminated and tomorrows game won't matter. They could how ever play spoiler in some division.
Here's a weird note.....(1st vs 4th) and (2nd vs 3rd) in every Pool in tomorrows matchups....go figure!!!!! There's certainly going to be some interesting matchups in the (2nd vs 3rd) games with many people probably running from rink to rink to keep an eye on the other teams scores.
Good Luck Tomorrow. |

Dear AA Terriers. I find your constant self-congratulations and arrogance stunning, given that you are a AA team. While you may be better than most of your AA competitors, you are a recreational team that should learn to enjoy hockey for what it is...becasue what it isn't is hi-end.
If your kids were half as good as you seem to think they are, they would be playing elsewhere. So stop pimping and just try to enjoy the games. It will be over and little Johnny will be trying out for the highschool team soon enough. |

11:47 here again.....
Pool A
Oakville and Tampa finished in a tie for first place but the Rangers took the top stop with a better +/- than Tampa. Oakville was suppose to run away with the division but Tampa is a very good team as it was hard to determine the type of team they were being from Florida. Tampa picked up a wildcard spot.
Pool B
This was a big surprise in this division. I thought that Richmond Hill would come out of this division undefeated but Sarnia and Marquette seemed to step up to the plate so far. Sarnia and Marquette finished tied for first but Sarnia got 1st place because they had a better +/-. Marquette did not make it in as a Wild Card.
Pool C
West as expected as Gloucester went undefeated through the round robin and finished in the #1 spot overall. I thought that Southpointe would take a wildcard spot but the GF% was not in their favour. Gloucester will be the only team out of this division.
Pool D
Very surprising results in this division as the York Toros took first place as they stepped up to the top teams in the division but lost in their final round robin but that didn't matter as the Toro's had already locked up first place. Michigan Ice Hawks beat the New Jersey Bandits and moved into a wild card position. The Bandits showed up to the tournament undefeated on the season and got a little taste of hockey from some Michigan and Ontario teams and were sent home disappointed.
Pool E
Mississauga Terriers lived up to their billing and finished updefeated in their Pool. Farmington Hills beat Long island and took the final wildcard spot available.
We have Gloucester to take on Farmington Hills in one quarter final, even though this is 1st and 8th Farminton Hills is a good team and will give Gloucester more than a handfull!!
We have the number one ranked team in Canada taking on the number one ranked team in the USA with the Terriers and Michigan Ice Hawks. This is such a great matchup...to bad its not the finals as one of these teams will be finished way to early in this tournament.
We have Sarnia taking on Tampa in another quarter final. This is a surprising matchup for both teams as I didn't really think either of these teams would make it this far but obviously both these teams stepped up their game to get here. Tampa is the only team in the quarters that is not from Michigan or Ontario.
We have Oakville and York in the other quarter final. These teams have played each other before but very early in the season with York coming out on top in that game. Oakville is a very good team and York has obviously stepped up their play in this tournament but did they run out of gas when they played North Toronto.
Side Note....5 of the 7 ontario teams that were in this silver stick have advanced to the quarter finals which is awesome for Ontario and the Canadians should be proud of these teams.
Should be some great games on tonight!!!!!! Good Luck to all (especially the canadian teams) |

11:47 here again......
Wow....what a bunch of great games.
Gloucester beat Farmington Hills after coming from behind 3-1 to winning 5-3 to advance to the semi-fianls. The Sarnia Sting beat Tampa Raiders 4-3 in the other quarter final. With the teams that are in this event i'm extremely surprised to see Sarnia still alive but good for them...they earned this years award of the dark horse team and underdog. Gloucester and Sarnia will meet in the one semi-final game.
The Michigan Ice Hawks proved that they are better than the Missisauga Terriers as the two top teams from each country collided heads with the Hawks winning 4-2. In the other quarters it looks like the oakville rangers had no problem with the York Toros. York had a great run during the weekend but they ran out of gas losing their last two games. The ice hawks will take on the defending champs (oakville) tomorrow in the other semi-final.
Notes.....3 of the remaining 4 teams are all canadian and there will be atleast one Canadian team in the final. As you can see my above post....I picked three of the 4 teams that are left in the semi's (Gloucester,Oakville and Michingan)....not bad for some whacko with a computer. I'm thinking that the final will be the undefeated Gloucester team and the Michigan Ice Hawks in the final.
Good luck to all the 4 teams left...its a huge accomplishment to make it to the final 4 in the North American Silver Stick. There's been alot of teams eliminated from this event since the beginning of the season and these are the 4 teams left standing!!!!
Gloucester Rangers
Sarnia Sting
Michigan Ice Hawks
Oakville Rangers
Go Canada!!!! |

Great effort by all teams. It was nice to see such high calibre hockey displayed by teams from several different regions.
Congrats to gloucester, sarnia, oakville, and michigan for making it this far. Awesome showing from the other quarter finalists as well.
But damn, only complaint is how terrible the GP facility is. That place is in dire need of an overhaul much like the defense coach of the oakville rangers is in desperate need of an english dictionary. Like seriously, every 2nd or 3rd word out of his mouth was boy. "SKATE BOI, GET BACK BOI, CLOSE THE GAP BOI, EH...NICE CHECK BOI". parents - an idea for an end of season "thank you" gift; Perhaps one of you can help enroll him in some sort of adult learning centre? |

Okay girls,
In case you haven't noticed (which you haven't), this thread has become nothing more than a giant dick swinging contest. MIH, MT, OR, GR, YT, FHF, etc are all great teams as they have proven to anyone who watched this weekend. Close competition this weekend was essential for player development. Without that, minor hockey would suck hard in more ways than one. Learn to appreciate it, not to flame it.
Let's all be adults and keep our dicks in our pants for the time being.
F ucking off for now,
Cheif |

|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Port Huron SilverStick 97AA | January 30 2012, 9:29 AM |
So the MT parent aholes are pinning the blame for their failed weekend adventure on the goalie now? Very classy, typical of the MT parent mentallity... throw each other under the bus after you embrass yourselves by claiming the SS Cup before you even play a game.
I love the comments about being up after 2 periods..... wasn't this the same parent group that said that it doesn't matter what happens after 2 periods when their game against the Toros were called after 2 with the Toros in the lead? I guess we were supposed to forget about that as well weren't we?
Now they are deflecting by saying the only thing that matters is the OHF winner, I guess we are now supposed to believe that a regional championship (Ontario) is more important that the International Silverstick?
Do the MT parents ever step back and listen to themselves? The team/parental group has already started to implode, so should be fun to watch this disfunctional group for the rest of the season. The arrogance has brought the attention to their failures, looks good on you.
COVER YOUR NUTS !!! |

Anonymous (no login) | Re: Port Huron SilverStick 97AA | January 30 2012, 10:33 AM |
Every team should be going into a tournament with an attitude of winning it all - I'm not sure why everyone is so bent out of shape because MT thought they had a chance to win it - Every team should have that attitude!
Michigan Ice Hawks are a great team, the parents of both MT and Michigan had nothing but mutual respect for each other's team. We watched 2 great teams play a great team. Only one winner could emerge and it was MIHs game that day.
Congrats to all that qualified to participate in the SS and especially to MIH for winning it!
MT were definately disappointed that they didn't advance further into the tourney, but the MIH game felt like a championship game.

|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Port Huron SilverStick 97AA | January 30 2012, 10:49 AM |
still 2 goal spread and Oakville never led the game, also Terriers bitch slapped the rangers at the London tournament in finals didn't they. |

Hold on to London because that will be your highlight of the year, you cant use the Miss early bird and SS unfortunatlly. But I guess you will win the OHFs now right. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Port Huron SilverStick 97AA | January 30 2012, 10:54 AM |
come on MIH totally dominated the rangers from start to end, the score was flatering to Rangers, Terriers had MIH by the short and curlies for the first to period, especially the 2nd period. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Port Huron SilverStick 97AA | January 30 2012, 10:55 AM |
MIH has little respect for 'my $hit don't stink Terrier parents'. They showed their class on this forum leading up to this SS. The way they blamed their goalie afterwards, was like a built in excuse for not winning. If this was the unofficial Championship game, why wouldn't they play the #1 goalie??? They are not a good enough team to beat MIH with average goaltending. Terriers definitely not the best team we played, not sure if a different goalie would make a difference. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Port Huron SilverStick 97AA | January 30 2012, 10:57 AM |
Who cares you both lost to the top team of MIH. They were picked to win it! |
|
Anon (no login) | Re: Port Huron SilverStick 97AA | January 30 2012, 10:57 AM |
The question is did you win, it doesnt matter what you believe you lost the game. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Port Huron SilverStick 97AA | January 30 2012, 11:03 AM |
The top 4 teams were MIH,Gloucester, Oakville and Terrier. At the end of theday MIH were the best here and they won. Good for them for coming through. No doubt the Terriers were the most arrogant and thats why people wanted them to lose. All 4 are good teams but only one was arrogant.
I saw both MIH vs Terrier and MIH vs Oakville. MIH were better in both games. Terriers and Oakville had their chances but could not capitalize.
Good tourny.
BTW prevous poster was correct - reffing was crazy for all teams |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Port Huron SilverStick 97AA | January 30 2012, 11:03 AM |
terriers finish second by one goal on the goal differential calculation and then their reward is playing the #1 ranked team in the U.S in the Quarters in the 7th spot.
Teams they have beaten that advanced, Oakville 3-1, Gloucester 7-2, 4-3 and 7-2, Toros 3-2 and 5-0 ,Farmington Hills 6-1
I think it was as safe bet the the MIH /Terrier game was the championship game.
And Terriers would rank 2nd in any North American ranking. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Port Huron SilverStick 97AA | January 30 2012, 11:12 AM |
Watched quarter semi and final of MIH games and by far the best game was the Terrier/MIH game.
Terriers up 2-1 in 3rd could not hold on.MIH did not quit and deserved the game in the end, not throwing anyone under the bus here as earlier mentioned but the Terrier goaltending was shakey in the 3rd 2 very weak goals. |
|

11:47.....again
Come on everyone.....it was a great tournament with lots of great teams. Just like every big tournament like this one all kinds of things can happen and that's why the kids play the game, these kids are 14yrs old and can make mistakes, can be inconsistant, shine when needed, some fall apart when the pressure is on and some rise to the occasion, but you can't expect 14yr old kids to play like 10 year NHL veterans. There's always a favourite in tourney's like these, MIH and MT were both definately favoured to win but this matchup took place in the quarters but that's because of how teams did in the round robin, it was a great game but only one team can move on. In big name tournaments like these there's always an underdog team that you like to see make a run and this year that was the Sarnia Sting who made it to the semi-finals who's ranked #25 in Ontario. The York Toros and Tampa Raiders also made a geat run as well on the weekend that no one probably thought would, teams like Oakville and Gloucester are also really good teams who were expected to go to the finals or semi's atleast and lived up to the expectation of everyone, there's always teams who are expected to go far who don't play to their abilities and one of those teams is Farmainton Hills who lost out in the quarters and was a #6 ranked team in the US. Richmond Hill an 11th ranked team in Ontario didn't even make it out of their division, the New Jersey Bandits showed up and hadn't lost a game yet this year in 41 games didn't even make it out of their division also and lost two games this past weekend. It was a great weekend, theres always morons in the stands and on sites like these bashing other teams but theres even more people who have some respect and love the game and see it as it really is....its just a game. Even though the Pro's are paid to play and they will even tell you.....its just a game. Relax, hope you enjoyed the weekend and the events that took place, congrats to the MIH for winning and to the other teams as well for a great showing. Not every top team can win every game and bashing other teams on this site is just senseless......I still play the game at my age and still love it to this day, I don't try and live it through my kid. If hockey can open some doors for him some day in school or where ever....great....if it doesn't, its not the end of the world, I just hope that when my kids reach my age he will be able to look back and remember all the great times he had at tournaments and with team mates he's played with over the years, I hope all the kids will still love and play the game.....that's why its still played today....the love and passion for it!! Good Luck to all the teams for the rest of this season and into the future.

Ask a Toro parent why
They got very lucky on 2 early goals and MIH had an off game. However at the end of the day - Toros were only team to beat them. But then again - Toros went home in quarters. |

Toros did not score 2 lucky goals early. As a matter of fact we got the game winner with 4 minutes left.

MT had several kids with bad colds - it was going around the room, lack of sleep due to coughing, etc. and it just was bad timing for the team to get sick during SS week. |

Wonder if this could ever be arranged when all is said and done after OHF's in April to arrange a Canada-US 7 game series between Mississauga Terriers #1 (Canada) and Michigan Ice Hawks #1 (US) that would be some great hockey and very entertaining. |

Can you prove otherwise they are not at the AA level.
and if not what teams or teams are better. |
|

Ontario
Rank Team Record Rating AGD Sched
1 Mississauga Terriers 97 AA 43-3-5 15.47 3.88 11.59
Vs.
U.S
Rank Team Record Rating AGD Sched
1 Michigan Ice Hawks 97 AA 44-4-2 15.99 2.66 13.33
7 games series would be cool, would be way better than OHF.
I'd buy a ticket to that, not much separates these two teams. Seen both play last weekend they are definitely the best two teams I've seen play at this level. |
