What is the problem with Hamilton? Only 4 wins in their last 11 games. Not a great way to head into the playoffs.

hhhmmm......let me think here......Cambridge/Waterloo game is a big penalty filled game.......then its Sarnia/Waterloo game is a big penalty filled game.....there seems to be a theme here.....maybe its the Waterloo Wolves Gold team that's the problem..........well here's a news flash for ya....to beat the wolves all you have to do is piss them off...score a couple of goals and they stop playing hockey....that's it....it becomes a parade to the box!! you were losing wolves.....then you started to play stupid by trying to be goons and that didn't work for ya either...that's right...stupid.....playing cheap shit hockey...keep it coming and we will do the same next time!!!....your parents are big mouths....your coach is a big mouth and your players are just the same...including the idiot player at the end of the game leaving the ice mouthing off at the parents in the stands....your an embarrasment to your organization...no wonder you've gone down hill since the re-seeding. Your nothing....your has beens!!!! I guess the ref shouldn't have called the kid who had to jump a foot into the air to make a deliberate head check at one of our players who's 6' tall.....maybe if you taught the kids how to play hockey you wouldn't be going down hill.....can't wait for the next game...you jokers....blame the refs and keep the excuses coming!!! You had 5 powerplays to our 3 in the first two periods......keep the excuses coming!!!!!! LOSERS!!!

January 8 2012, 2:53 AM Nice little ramble. Common theme around the league is that Sarnia gets under quality teams skin by being dirty and very mouthy. Once the $hit hits the fan and the other team gives them a taste back, you yappy bunch of in-breds cry boo hoo to the ref who is also your buddy and then he dictates the outcome of the game. Get rid of the ref altogether and lets see who wins. If you wanna play tough then lets go. Don't think its true tape one of your games and have a good look behind the play.

I don't think Waterloo Gold was ever a complete power house. They had a very successful run, but didn't blow away any of the current AA teams before the split. They were all pretty close based upon what I have looked up. Good competitive games are what any league needs. Our team has beaten them but they also beat us. Every game is different.

Wow.........I have been informed of this site countless times since the beginning of the season by many people, even by others from other teams around our league in my talks with some of the oppositions parents/coaches and most recently this morning in an email.

"same sarnia reffing show. enough said."

"Refs in Sarnia are as bad as London and Cambridge. They are the show, not the kids."

"Sarnia refs are the reason why brother and sister Shouldn't marry"

"Hamilton kicked the snot out of sarnia tonight 5-1"

"January 8 2012, 2:53 AM Nice little ramble. I can tell you one thing for sure.....we are far from being buddies or friends with the Sarnia Refs and have had our own problems with our own officials during home games as we are not playing the angels by any means. We are involved in the same games you are and many things happen that the ref see's and many things that happen they don't see. There's good refs and bad refs all over the league in every city and yes its unfortunate that sometimes refs do have a role in the outcome of games but there's also games where they barely call anything and we all feel that penalties should have been called. Its hit and miss all over the league, also remember we are dealing with 14 year old boys who are more frequently now taking things into their own hands during the game and alot of the refs we have are doing it solely for the extra money or they enjoy still being involved in minor hockey, there's not to many of them that are looking for a full time career in reffing.

Waterloo, you were beaten by a better team THAT DAY. (notice I didn't say the best team as who ever wins the league can say that). We were the better team that day, who cares about the reffing as you were already losing by a couple of goals already before all the penalties really started and you had more PP opportunities than us up to that point in the game and we only scored one PP goal after that and you had PP opportunities as well during the third period. Stop blaming the refs or having a short bench or missing players or any other type of excuse you wish to come up with. When we lose we look in the mirror and blame ourselves and try and figure out how we can learn from our loss, we don't come up with excuses or start pointing fingers at someone else, we win as a team and family and lose as a team and family.

Hamilton, congrats on ending our unbeaten streak since the split into A/AA for the league, it was our best run of the season to date and our best showing to date in the AA loop over the past 3 years I've been behind the bench for this team. If we had scored on our many chances in the first half of the opening period we could have easily been up 3 or 4 to nothing pretty early in the contest and had we stayed out of the box in the third the score could have been much different as you scored a couple of PP goals in the third to put the game away as it was one of our poorest showings of the year, but again we didn't step up and you did. So....congrats to you for being the better team that day as we will now regroup and hopefully learn from our loss and not take things for granted and try and focus on starting another streak.

I have never posted on this site before and MAY NEVER do it again. We gladly welcome all competition from anyone in the province as we don't make excuses or point fingers for losing and we certainly don't beat our chests after we win either but we are willing to play anyone in any style of game. If you have anything you would like to say about me, my team, parents or organization feel free to do so in person or atleast have the courage to do it with your real full name and not hide behind a computer on an anonymous forum. I will always have my name attached to anything I ever write (IF I EVER WRITE SOMETHING AGAIN). You can/will find me behind the bench of this team as the head coach as I don't hide my identity...................its called having a back bone.

We look forward to playing all the teams and good luck to everyone for the rest of the season and playoffs.

I wouldn't put too much stock into that....what have you done since AA started. What are you.... 2W-2L-3T....highly the performance of a league champion!! Not to mention i wouldn't put too much stock in your win over the Sting recently...what was that....at 6pm game in Hamilton...which is what a 2.5hr drive for them on a night just before school is going back....We've played each team in this league and find that the Sting are probably the toughest team to beat all around. Next time you won't be so lucky in tying us!!! See you Feb 1st for your beating!!!!!

"We will take it like we took it last year.

Really? You barely made the AA loop this year. You have 5 wins in your last 15 games. You have a head coach who tells people he is going to the AAA team next year and parents who are more concerned with the AAA team than their own team. Hardly sounds like a team that is getting ready for a run to the finish.

Re: 97 AA alliance a tight race who will win?

Records Since the Split into A/AA

Cambridge 10GP 5W-1L-4T = 14pts
Sarnia 8GP 4W-1L-3T = 11pts
Kitchener 10GP 5W-4L-1T = 11pts
St Thomas 11GP 4W-6L-1T = 9pts
Hamilton 8GP 2W-3L-3T = 7pts
Waterloo Gold 10GP 2W-5L-3T = 7pts
Waterloo Black 5GP 1W-3L-1T = 3pts

You would have to say that Cambridge and Sarnia have been the top teams since the split with both of these teams losing their first game just recently. Sarnia has played fewer games than the Hawks but they have two games this weekend and will catch up in games played with Camb/Kit/Waterloo Gold. It will be interesting to see if they bounce back from their big loss in Hamilton or will fall back to the team they were at the beginning of the season. Hamilton is playing just under .500 hockey to date and are still the same inconsistant team as the beginning of the season so far. St Thomas has been up and down since the split beating teams like Kitchener and Gold and then tying and losing to Waterloo Black. Waterloo Gold has been the biggest talk around the league i'm sure with a disappointing second season to date. After the Gold went undefeated in the regular league with a 12W-0L-2T record, they have really struggled since the split winning only 2 games in 10 matchups. The Gold ship is taking on water big time and the question is will it sink totally or be able to right itself??? This has allowed teams like Camb/Kit/Sar to all catch up to them with Cambridge passing them, Kitchener has tied them and Sarnia is on there heels. Waterloo Black has played the fewest games so far of all the AA teams to date but are certainly going to be busy with 13 games to play in less than a month. Wins for the Black are going to be difficult but remember it is there first season in the league and they made the AA. Look for next season to be possibly much better for this team.

Thanks to all my N54 supporters for kicking in the funds to help me post bail !!! That was sarcasm and a joke to all you who thought I was in jail!!! happy.gif

Sorry not doing predictions anymore, everytime I would start over again someone would bring up the Cambridge scenario and the Mod would delete the entire thread, so I got tired of repeating myself all the time and have decided to not predict anymore. I would send the Mod a response and all I would get back is the generic "be a resposible poster". which had nothing to do with me, just other people's posts on the thread I had started. Oh well, enjoy your season and playoffs are just around the corner.

"The mere fact he came on N54 to introduce this is a joke. You loose all credibility. Why does he feel he even has to comment after a game?"

You're kidding right? Goons like you comment on here all the time. You bash coaches, referees, players, and parents. And you do it anonymously because you are afraid of the consequences if you reveal who you are. You say things on here that you would never have the nerve to say directly to the people you criticize. And now you want to bash a guy who comes on and doesn't criticize anyone. I think you are the one with no credibility. If you believe so strongly that he has no right to post on here and you do, then why not post your name?

"Why does he feel he even has to comment after a game?"

Why do you have to come on here and criticize him personally? You are implying that it is ok to come on here and say anything you want at any time if you do it anonymously, but you have a problem with someone posting their thoughts and putting their name to it. Why do you have more right to post than anyone else? His comments (assuming it was really him) make it clear that there seemed to be a number of posts that were negative towards his team and the officials. He referenced those posts and went on to explain his thoughts in a way that did not bash any other team or person. Why would you be offended by that? Why would you feel the need to attack him?

"we are far from being buddies". Really, who gives a shit."

Who gives a shit? Apparently goons like you and the others who posted the negative posts about the Sarnia team and officials. His post was a response to that. He didn't come on here and bash your teams first. Others were bashing his team and officials. He simply responded.

"you have a lot to learn as a coach. Keep your mouth shut and do your job. The kids depend on it."

Hmmm... he acknowledges that he and the players learn from every game - especially losses. Looking at the results over the last few weeks, the Sarnia team has been on quite a winning streak since the AA/A split. So obviously he knows more about coaching than a lot of the other coaches out there.

Re: 97 AA alliance a tight race who will win?

January 13 2012, 2:11 PM

By the looks of things its probably going to be 2 of the 3 teams between Cambridge/Kitchener/Sarnia in the final if you were starting playoffs today. Waterloo Black is in over their heads, St Thomas leaves, Waterloo Wolves are falling fast as teams have figured out how to beat them and Hamilton is too inconsistant right now. Overall there's a good balance between the 5 teams and really anyone can take it this season. The last couple of years the league winner was clearly dominant over the rest of the teams. This season Cambridge, Gold, Kitchener, Sarnia or Hamilton could win this league. We shall see in the coming weeks.

Sarnia - two games this weekend (St Thomas & Waterloo Black)
St Thomas - has just one game this weekend (Sarnia)
Waterloo Black - has just one game this weekend (Sarnia)
Waterloo Gold - Ottawa Tournament
Kitchener - Nashville Tournament
Hamilton - Niagara Tournament
Cambridge - nothing (doesn't look like they had anyone to play)

January 16 2012, 8:56 AM

January 17 2012, 9:48 AM

Here we go again....Hamilton wins games and they start to brag, they lose and we here nothing from them. Here's the low down Reps.

Hamilton played (11.28 rating and 48th in ranking):

West Seneca Wings 98AAA team (this is a lousy AAA team in their own age group 7.08 rating and 82nd in my hockey rankings.

Onandaga Thunder A team..that's right an A team that hasn't even played enough games to even be ranked but have a rating of 7.33.

Buffalo Bisons A team...that's right an A team again...same thing, they don't have enough games to be ranked and have a rating of 1.43 which is absolutely pathetic...more like house league team.

Kitchener Rangers Played (11.39 rating and 44th in rankings): Also won the tourney!!

Naperville Sabres Gold AA (5.79 rating and 259th ranking in the USA)
Kensington Valley Rebels AA (8.66 rating and 143rd ranking in the USA)
Nashville Jr Preds AA (7.88 rating and 170th ranking in the USA)
Springfield Kings (7.22 rating and 205th ranking in the USA)

Waterloo Wolves Gold Played (12.29 rating and 23rd in rankings): didn't move on!!

Upper Ottawa AA (12.32 rating and 21st in rankings in Canada)
Rideau AA (12.35 rating and 20th in rankings in Canada)
Ottawa Sting AA (11.72 rating and 39th in Canada)

So basically, Waterloo Gold played against teams its own calibre and competed (good for them for not entering a good tourney with some good teams in it) Kitchener played teams that were beneath them and the best team that was in their tourney would be the lowest ranking team in our entire A/AA alliance league, so ya Kitchener should have won, this was another sub-par tourney but i'm sure this was more about the location and team bonding then anything.

Hamilton...you guys played against 2 A teams and one AAA team that was a year younger that is shit in their own league....has anyone really even heard of the tournament you were in??? (Niagara Falls Blizzard Challenge where the most teams in any division was 6) Seriously your bragging about beating lousy teams in a lousy tournament. Hamilton Reps 97AA your just pathetic losers who use to be someone but your not anymore and your trying to build up your team on this site and the truth of it all......YOUR JUST NOT REALLY ALL THAT GOOD ANYMORE.

The story is...you came on here boasting that you won a tourney which ended up being a shit tourney with shit teams, you were hoping nobody would look up the crap you played and then went on to ask how kitchener and gold did in their tourney's. When in fact Kitchener's tourney was a little harder than yours and they won and waterloo was in alot tougher tourney than both of you. So stop stomping around like your all that...because your not...you won a weak ass tourney....that's all. Nobody cares if you won a lousy tourney!!!!

Because the AA parents are the biggest whiners out there. Why say anything about the AAA team? Why not focus on your own team that has struggled all year? All you guys do is bitch and complain and put down other teams. It doesn't take much work to scan through various threads related to this age group to see how others feel about you guys. The most common theme has to do with poor sportsmanship.

Worry about the problems with your own team. Maybe your coach could have taken AAA cuts to replace the weak players on your team and your season would have been much better.

A LITTLE COPY AND PASTE FROM ANOTHER THREAD!!!! AND THERE'S LOTS MORE TOO!!

I understand that the tourneys are booked in advance. Having said that, you were the league champions last year, so shouldn't you have been looking to enter bigger, more competitive, and more widely known tournaments? Looking at the tournament results, it appears there were only 4 total teams in the entire division! Why bother playing a tournament like that? Also, why post on here immediately that you guys won a tournament when you clearly know that you didn't play any real competition at all? It certainly doesn't help to correct the perceived notion that you are poor sports. Now, in your defense, I suppose someone outside of your team could have posted your win on here. But why brag on your own website that you won the final 7-0 and outscored all opponents 25-1 over 4 games? Seems a bit over the top once you realized you were playing A teams and a younger team. And no one outside of your own team would have written and posted that. Most teams would keep that sort of thing to themselves and look at whether they played good hockey or not and whether the team enjoyed some sort of bonding while away. They certainly wouldn't be letting those outside their team know they beat up on crap teams.

Hamilton is trying to pimp that their team is really good this year...when in fact they are mediocre. They are trying to live up to last years billing and the truth is....they are just not as good this season...so stop trying to pimp your team as being so good, stop saying hamilton games are the ones to watch, stop posting your record over the last so many games, stop saying how you will climb up the standings, stop posting about big wins, stop posting about how you won a lousy tournament, stop the we took it last year were going to take it this year....nobody really cares about you anymore Hamilton, other teams have caught up and others have passed you. I know that Waterloo and Hamilton have been in the final the last two years...but i'm thinking that their will be new blood in the Alliance Championship this season.

You sound like one of those parents who like to bash and put down others because your not good enough yourself!! Great Job.....your such a great supporter of the sport and others!!

Really? I don't see Kitchener boasting at all. Like a lot of other teams, they simply post their scores and state facts. No "we kicked the snot out of that team". No "we outscored all opponents a billion to one" when the opponents are a year younger and crap A teams.

Don't worry Hamilton, you are still the kings of poor sportsmanship - have been for years.

Climb? What climb? 4 wins in 12 games since the split. Give me a break!

I really, really want to believe that whoever posted that isn't from Hamilton. I would hope that Hamilton would show some class and simply post scores without comments. Posting scores here is great and keeps people informed. But to say that the results from the weekend constitute a climb seems a bit much. You barely beat the only team that is lower than you in the AA standings. Then you win one and tie one against the team right above you. Oh ya, you have beaten St. Thomas in every game this year except the last one which you tied. Seems more like doing your best to hold the position you are in. Definitely not a climb.

"Cambridge 4 Reps 0"

And the climb is still on hold. Running out of time there Hamilton. With 5 games left, the best you can possibly do is 4th place if you win every game even if every other team loses all their remaining games.

Re: 97 AA alliance a tight race who will win?

February 3 2012, 9:13 AM

Not to many games left!! Who's going to finish 1st & 2nd and get the first round bye between the three teams Cambridge, Waterloo Gold and Kitchener. Its pretty safe to say that Sarnia will most likely get 4th place and Hamilton 5th place and Waterloo Black 6th place.

Who ever gets 2nd will pretty much play 3rd place as 3rd will play the Waterloo Black team in 6th. Who ever does play black should have no problem getting by them and be able to work on some systems in preparation for the second round vs the 2nd place team. Who ever is the 2nd vs 3rd matchup should be a great series and I would say this series would go close to the distance.

Who ever gets 1st will have to sit around and wait for the Sarnia vs Hamilton matchup. In my opinion the Sting are a better team and should get by the Reps. Who ever gets 1st will then probably play the Sting. I would have to say this would be no easy matchup either as the Sting could be a sleeper team in the playoffs, just depends really on which team shows up.

I dont think that you can truly say any team will be easy pickings for any round. Most games since the split have been close except for the odd 6-0 score. Cambridge has 8 draws and sit in first place, a bounce or two in the other direction and they are in 5th. If you get a bye for the first round your team sits stale for 2 weeks and may find themselves down early in the second round.

Waterloo Black is easy pickings for anyone in this league. Black might steal one game in the playoffs but that's it. I think its pretty safe to say that Black is easy pickings, the record speaks for itself.

vs Cambridge (0W-3L)
vs Gold (1W-2L)
vs Kitchener (0W-2L)
vs Sarnia (0W-3L)

and they still have to play Cambridge, Gold and Sarnia once and Kitchener 2x. Its pretty much over for them. This is really a 4 team field between Cambridge, Waterloo Gold, Kitchener, Sarnia.....and Hamilton with an outside shot atleast.

I don't expect Waterloo Black to get past the first round. Having said that , I don't think most people would have expected them to be in the AA loop. I guess you never know. Not a bad showing for the first year playing A/AA for most of the kids.

Sarnia 2 - Hawks 1

Guess it looks like the Sting could play the spoiler!!

Why does everyone keep bringing up the fact that its the ref's fault. More near sighted Cambridge parents, must be the same ones from the stands during the game, calls were made both ways during the game. Ref gave the home team Hawks a 5on3 for remaining 3 minutes of the game to even it up....and choked. State all the facts Hawks.

Please you had a 7 minute powerplay to start third period
Thats when you scored the game winner.
What about the 5 minute hitting from behind major given to Cambridge that was actually a sarnia player hitting a Cambridge one. Sounds like great reffing to me. Sarnia is a very dirty team. If you think not then look behind the play during a game. Sarnia coaches even chirping Cambridge players.

Re: 97 AA alliance a tight race who will win?

February 5 2012, 7:50 PM

Cambridge....call a hawk a hawk will ya.

We are not saying that we are the cleanest team in the league...all teams have some chippy players and you have your fair share as well. So what if you have beaten us all season...which has only been by one goal every time...not like you've handed us a beating every game. Cambridge you have some real class in your own rinks, couple of your moms can't keep their fucking big mouths shut the entire game, there an embarrassment to your organization, your parents are still out drinking in the parking lot, you still have an illegal player on your team, your VP of Cambridge picked your AAA team and picked kids from other centres so that some of your AAA kids can come down and play on the VP's kids team. You think the rest of the league is blind. Ya we had a 5on4 for 7 minutes and scored??? What's your point??? We capitalized on an opportunity???? Yes please do look behind the play...you have your slashers and spearing players as well, come out from behind your rose coloured glasses!!! I don't see how the refs helped us...we had what 4 penalties and you had what 3 penalties???? We had a 5on4 for 7 minutes and you had a 5on3 for 3 minutes....I don't really see how the refs helped us????

As for the hit from behind your kid out right skated 20feet across the ice and hammered the Sarnia kid from behind and with an injury and that if you knew anything is a 5min major so take your penalty and 3 game suspension, there was no Sarnia kid hitting a hawk at that time, the Sarnia player was in a ball on the boards but you obviously are one of those people who can't see the forest from the trees!!! Ya a different cambridge kid just before that got hammered and should have been called interference on us but those were two different kids in that situation but the ref didn't make the call and that does happen but a hit from behind is a hit from behind so open your eyes and then to have your couple of fat ass mom's yelling at the kid to get up is absolutely just pathetic and ignorant, those fucking bitchs needs to be slapped. How about your one parent going over above the exit and calling the ref all kinds of names as he left the ice during the flood....great sportsmanship again. How about your Captain yelling at our Coach on the bench to fuck off and shut up when our coach is talking to his own player at the penalty box...again great to see and hear. Watch the whole game and see what is actually going on, you are so ooooohhhhh poor us all the time, have you even ever played the game before and pickup shinny hockey or xbox doesn't count??????

One of your kids turtled twice during the game for crying out loud. You got your 5on3 at the end of the game because the kid was going to get hit with a clean hit and bailed, thats unsportsman like also and when a kid bails on a hit they should also be given a penalty!!! The Sarnia player got a 4min head contact penalty because his knee hit the kids head who turtled??? WTF??? None the less you had a 5on3 PP for 3min at the end to tie it up...so what's the excuse that you didn't tie it up...ref's????

Maybe you will see us....maybe you won't...its hockey.

Hey loser you are the one who needs to pay attention. Our guy skating across the ice 20 feet to hit your player was a 2 min boarding call.
He also received a 5 min major for your guy hitting our player from behind just prior to that in the corner. Thats refing at the finest. What about your coaches calling our 14 yr old boys pussies as they are skating by, now thats class. As for the player turtling at the end? He had to duck as your son was trying to take his head off with a crosscheck and missed then did the same thing again. He should have been tossed from the game. And by the way the guy he was targeting is the smallest player in the league. You dont need to crosscheck him to the head to hit him, but thats ok. And what about the class when the trainer was helping him, your son was in the box giving him the finger. We will just forget about the concussion your son gave him.

I agree on one thing and that is we have a couple moms with big mouths.

Re: 97 AA alliance a tight race who will win?

February 6 2012, 9:44 AM

12:48 I'm the one who posted above and i'm not the coach of our team or on the bench. I'm a poor spectator that had to listen to the yapping dogs from your team up in the stands for an hour and a half and my ears are still bleeding!!!! Leave our coach alone, he's a very well respected coach in our organization and among our parents. I heard about your accusations about the Sarnia coaches on the doors calling your kids pussies, I think you should talk to your coach about this as I believe it was rectified what was actually said and to whom between periods down in the hallway between the Coaches so get the full story from your Coach before throwing comments out there you don't have all the facts for....I got my facts from outside the arena with talks to our coaches.

The boy who came in to hit him had two hands on his stick....so you assume it was going to be a cross check??? Your suppose to have two hands on your stick, his stick and hands came up at the end to protect himself from flying into the boards and hurting himself because your player bailed at the last second. The fact is the player turtled, his injury is a result of him being afraid of getting hit and taking a hit. Its not our players fault his head hit our players knee after ducking. Our player was coming from the side not straight on. We won't mention the fact the player that was giving the hit has a broken wrist and is playing with a cast as a result from another boarding call from your team when you were in Sarnia a couple of weeks ago. That boy on your team is not the smallest player in the league, the one on Waterloo Gold is the smallest and i'm pretty sure the kid on our team is smaller than yours. I'm sorry to hear that he's injured as I don't want to see any kids get hurt but if he took his hit in the first place he might have been fine, when you duck out of the way your injury can't be blamed on someone else.

These kids are 14yrs old and do many things during the game like swearing at eat other, the odd cheap shot, chirping each other and giving each other the finger its their age. I know for a fact our coach would not be happy one of our players was giving him the finger but I don't think he can see everything that's going on, if you had noticed that when your player was injured in front of our bench door that our head coach moved his players down so they weren't right over him or near him maybe he was busy doing that instead. I'm sure you didn't see that but were busy watching other things.

Holy Crap....you my friend are fricken blind. Our player had to duck becuase your player launched himself at his head. He left his feet and led with a cross check towards our player.... if he didnt duck he may have been decapitated. Hands up to protect himself.....my ass, you are a moron.

Hopefully we will see you again in playoffs. Now I know why you carry 19 players on your roster, your coach anticipates losing kids to suspension every game with his style of play, and wont have to play short benched.

Re: 97 AA alliance a tight race who will win?

February 6 2012, 10:45 AM

Well I'm from Cambridge...and I can tell you...get use to the Cambridge Moms in the stands!! They have been all over Ontario this year doing the same thing and I doubt they will stop anytime soon this season!! Its driving me nuts and makes the rest of us parents look bad, sometimes I wanna go over there and slap her myself!!

Its unfortunate that the two boys who were in the scrum behind the net are kicked out for 3 games. Maybe a couple of misconducts or something but there really wasn't any need to assess penalties to each team that would result in 3 game suspensions for both kids, that was truly a disappointing call. I can't really comment on the other hit from behind as I didn't really see what was going on as i was watching elsewhere behind the play and the antics going on there from both sides. I've kinda heard stories from both sides.

Truthfully I think both teams are a little dirty but I agree with the above post that the kids are 14yrs old and are wild at sometimes. I did notice that the Sarnia Coach did move his players down the bench when our player was injured on the bench that does show some sportmanship and the fact that Sarnia's players and parents did cheer when he got up showed a little sportmanship, unfortunately i can't say the same for our parents as I found myself and only a very chosen few clapped when the Sarnia boy got up from his injury...another negative reflection on our team. I also notice at the beginning of the game (which I noticed last time in Sarnia also) that Sarnia takes their gloves off and shakes hands with our team as they go through the pre-game hand shake but most of our boys leave their gloves on, Sarnia also shakes each coaches hand, most of our team leaves our gloves on and skates fast through the opposing teams bench. I believe Kitchener does the same thing in removing their gloves, it does show a bit of class when teams do this and i hope our Coach reads this or gets wind of it and can get our kids doing the same thing here in Cambridge. We would probably get more respect of other teams if we could get the loud mouth parents and kids showing alot more class and respect as we are a very good team but these kind of things bring us back down a notch as we could learn a few things from other teams around the league. I have to give some kudo's to Sarnia, I heard they beat Kitchener on Saturday on the road, went home and had to drive back to us again the next day and play us and beat us. They scored on some opportunities and we didn't. I really glad we don't have their travelling schedule.

I really do enjoy watching these two teams play, I think we are two very evenly matched teams, we have come out on top more times but every game between us has been a one goal game. I really think these two teams should meet in the final as it would be a great series to watch. I do feel we are a much more physical team than Sarnia and most teams do back down from us which helps our team but Sarnia doesn't which is probably why I like watching these two teams go at it.

Forget all the none sense posted above in other posts. Lets hope these two teams lock horns in the final as I feel these are the two best teams in the leauge and if both sides can just play hockey and show some sportsmanship it would be one hell of a series. I will show some sportsmanship on behalf of our team for once....so Good Luck to you Sarnia and hope to see you in the final!!!

Re: 97 AA alliance a tight race who will win?

February 6 2012, 12:50 PM

Wow!!

Well with Sarnia winning both its games this weekend against Kitchener and Cambridge and Kitchener losing to Sarnia and Waterloo Black was shocking to see. The top of the league has just gotten much tighter and a free for all thanks to Sarnia and Black. The next week is going to prove interesting non the less as we are only 1 week away from playoffs and there's no clear cut spots as to who will play who in the first round or who will get bye's.

Cambrdige:

With Cambridge's loss to Sarnia they are unable to lockup first place in the league. They still have the best chance of getting first but only have one game remaining against Hamilton and if they win would end up with 46pts. Cambridge would also need some help from either Hamilton or Sarnia because Waterloo Gold is now the only team that can catch or pass the hawks for first place. A Hawks win vs Hamilton would force Gold to win out, a Hawks loss to Hamilton would mean they would really need the help of Hamilton or Sarnia or it could cost them a regular season champs and banner. The Hawks are guaranteed a first or second place finish and need some help of lower teams like Hamilton and from the above posts....there new found friends in the Sting (LOL...sorry I couldn't resist).

Waterloo Gold:

Gold is sitting just 3pts back of the Hawks with 41pts and either them or Cambridge will be this season's regular season champs. Gold does have 2 games in hand and in order to win the league they would have to win their last 3 games (hamilton x2 and sarnia). Neither of the two teams they have left to play are going to roll over as both Hamilton and Sarnia are also battling for placement in the playoffs. Gold does have a leg up on the Rangers who currently sit in thrid place and one point behind them as they have two games in hand also over the Rangers. If Gold can one just win one game they will secure atleast a 2nd place finish and a first round bye. Gold could finish as high as 1st place but would need some help but basically hold their own fate.

Kitchener Rangers:

The Rangers hit a speed bump this weekend losing both their games to Sarnia and the last place Waterloo Black. This small speed bump cost the Rangers a shot at the league regular season title and with the Hawks losing an odd game as well could have jumped up to being tied for 1st place with the Hawks. Instead the Rangers are sitting in third place at 40pts, one point behind the Wolves Black team but unfortunately for the Rangers the Wolves Gold team has more games then them left and Waterloo Gold is certainly going to be out to get 1st place from the Hawks. It could be a long shot for the Rangers to get second place now and a bye as they would need help from Hamilton and Sarnia to beat the Wolves Gold but then again the Sting are now on the heels of Kitchener and need Gold to beat Sarnia to keep the Rangers from possibly dropping to 4th place, kind of a lose lose situation. However Kitchener also needs help from St Thomas, Gold and Black to take care of Sarnia so that the Sting don't catch up to them. Kitchener could get as high as 2nd place with lots of help.

Sarnia Sting:

Sarnia had a strong showing this weekend beating both the 1st place and 3rd place teams and have thrown a wrench into the entire league standings heading into the final week of play before playoffs. Sarnia sits now just 4pts behind Kitchener for 3rd spot at 36pts. Sarnia could max out at 42pts but would need to win all three remaining games they have vs (St Thomas, Gold and Black). Sarnia is looking for help from Waterloo Black to beat the Rangers again to keep the Rangers within reach. Even if the Rangers win the Sting could possibly win out and tie the rangers focing a tie breaker (what ever that is). Even though the Sting had a good weekend on the road they will have to do it again with three more road games again this week and could be too much to ask of them. Sarnia must also keep an eye on Hamilton because if the Sting lose all three remaining games and the Reps win all theirs, Hamilton could catch the Sting for 4th place. Sarnia only needs one point to secure atleast a 4th place finish and could reach as high as 2nd place with lots of help.

Hamilton Reps:

Hamilton has the most games remaining with 4 (Gold, Cambridge, Black, Gold) but are sitting 8pts back of the Sting for 4th place. Hamilton would have to win all its remaining games and the Sting would have to lose all their remaining games for the Reps to move up to 4th place from 5th...this is like throwing a dart at a dart board 20' feet away blind folded, but hey...its hockey and who the hell knows. Hamilton must also keep an eye on Waterloo Black who's surprising victories of late over Kitchener and Gold have moved them closer to Hamilton. If Hamilton can get just one point in its remaining games they will secure no lower than 5th place and a date with whoever is 4th place but that is as far as they can go. If Black can catch the Reps the defending champs would finish in last and setup a date with 3rd place.

Waterloo Black:

Waterloo Black has 3 games remaining (hamilton, Kitchener, Sarnia) and sit in 6th place 6pts behind Hamilton with 22pts. The best the Wolves Black can hope for is a 5th place finish but with having to play Hamilton still could determine their final placement. Waterloo Black has won some big games of recent beating both Kitchener and Waterloo Gold and could on an outside chance play a first round spoiler to a team if someone takes this team to lightly.

Cambridge = max pts 46 = best finish 1st place, worst finish 2nd place
Waterloo Gold = max pts 47 = best finish 1st place, worst finish 4th place
Kitchener = max pts 42 = best finish 2nd place, worst finish 4th place
Sarnia = max pts 42 = best finish 2nd place, worst finish 5th place
Hamilton = max pts 36 = best finish 4th place, worst finish 6th place
Waterloo Black = max pts 28 = best finish 5th place, worst finish 6th place

Should be a great week of hockey as all teams have something to play for and could move positions which is awesome heading into playoffs.

Good Luck to all the teams.

CB

Didn't you just accuse someone of having no spine by posting on here and not putting their name to it? Run to the MOD when a post is about you so it gets deleted but then you come on here cutting up other teams, coaches and kids. Re: 97 AA alliance a tight race who will win?

February 7 2012, 3:00 PM

Cambridge wins its last game vs Hamilton tomorrow night they will secure 1st place overall and a new league leader as Hamilton and Waterloo have been the top teams the past two seasons.

With Waterloo Golds loss they are giving the teams below them a chance at passing them or catching up to them. Gold still has to play Sarnia who is looking to catch up and pass them and Gold also has to play Hamilton in the final game of the season which is a team they just lost too. Waterloo Gold has not beaten the Sting or the Reps since the split into AA.

Hamilton plays Waterloo Black tonight, if the Reps can tie or beat the Wolves Black the Reps will finish no lower than 5th spot and still be in the Hunt for 4th and the Waterloo Black will hold the 6th spot for the playoffs.

Re: 97 AA alliance a tight race who will win?

February 8 2012, 9:45 AM

With last nights tie between Hamilton and Waterloo Black....Black has now finished in the 6th spot in the league and will await to see who will finish 3rd for their 1st round matchup. Hamilton's tie last night has also kept them in the hunt for 4th spot as they try and catch up to the Sting for that 4th position.

Cambridge will play Hamilton tonight with lots on the line for both teams. A Cambridge victory would give the Hawks a 1st place finish in the league and be crowned constellation regular season champions as Waterloo Gold would not be able to catch or tie them. A Hawks victory will also end the Reps chances of earning a 4th place finish and will leave the Reps with a 5th place finish guaranteed. A tie in this matchup would keep the Reps hope alive for a 4th place finish but would need alot with the Sting losing all its remaining games. A tie in this matchup would also leave the door open for the Wolves Gold team to take the #1 spot as they could catch the hawks in points and would get the tie breaker win as they have a better record head to head between the teams. Hawks lose and Hamilton wins would keep Hamilton's hopes alive of a 4th place finish and the Hawks will have left the door open for Waterloo Gold. Cambridge would then have to sit back and wait and hope for the Sting or Hamilton to beat Waterloo Gold in the remaining days to see where they will finish.

Sarnia will play St Thomas tonight also with plenty on the line for the Sting. This is a rescheduled game between the teams as St Thomas is already in OMHA playoffs for a chance to go to the "A" OHF's. St Thomas has already won their first round of playoffs and are moving to the second round. If Sarnia wins tonight against the Stars they will guarantee themselves atleast a 4th spot and will leave the Reps with a 5th spot guaranteed. A win for the Sting would also keep their hopes alive in possibly moving up in the standings as they can still catch the Rangers but need to win all three of its remaining games to do so. Sarnia also has to play Waterloo Gold coming up another team they could possibly catch. A tie or loss for the Sting tonight and they would need some help from the rest of the league to catchup to 3rd or 2nd.

Re: 97 AA alliance a tight race who will win?

February 9 2012, 12:39 PM

With the Hawks victory over the Reps last night, Cambridge has won the Constellation Regular Season Title and have secured first place for the playoffs and a first round bye with home ice advantage throughout the playoffs. This is huge for the Hawks as beating this team on home ice this season has been difficult for all teams, in actual fact, beating them at all this season has been tough for everyone after the Hawks have only had 5 loss's all season. Hamiltons loss has ensured the Reps a 5th place finish guaranteed and will await to see who finishes in 4th between Waterloo Gold, Kitchener and Sarnia with some big games to be played this weekend.

Sarnia's win last night also guaranteed Hamilton's finish in 5th place. Sarnia's win last night vs St Thomas has kept the Sting in the hunt for a possible finish in 2nd, 3rd or 4th(current position).

For guaranteed playoff positions right now...

1st) Cambridge
2nd) Gold, Kitchener, Sarnia
3rd) Gold, Kitchener, Sarnia
4th) Gold, Kitchener, Sarnia
5th) Hamilton
6th) Waterloo Black

Kitchener has only one game to play and that's Saturday vs Waterloo Black in Waterloo. Kitchener has just lost to this team only a week ago and are in a must win situation or atleast a tie. A loss could be devastating to the Rangers and drop them in the standings. Kitchener has lost its last two games and lost 3 of its last 4 games. Right after the Kitchener/Black game in Waterloo at RIM arena on Saturday, Sarnia will play Waterloo Gold at the same arena. Sarnia and Waterloo will be able to watch and see the outcome of Kitcheners final game and will know what they need to do. I'm sure someone from Kitchener is going to stick around after their game as the Gold vs Sarnia game could he absolutely huge as to who finishes where in the standings. The record between Gold and Sarnia is 1W-1L-1T with the Sting having tied and beaten the Wolves Gold during the AA season. Gold is 2W-1L is there last 3 games and 2w-2l in the last 4 games. Sarnia is on a 3 game winning streak including beating the Hawks and Kitchener last weekend.

Sunday could also mean something in the standings as Sarnia will play Waterloo Black at RIM arena, then after that game Waterloo Gold will play Hamilton at the same arena again in the final regular season game before playoffs.

There will be some great and interesting action goin on this weekend in Waterloo at RIM arena (especially the Gold/Sarnia) game. Thoroughly disappointed i'm going to miss out on the action!!

Re: 97 AA alliance a tight race who will win?

February 13 2012, 10:46 AM

Well its all said and done, the regular season has come to an end. Teams have all been ranked for playoffs.

Cambridge Hawks was this seasons #1 team after the regular season. They've earned the right of having a first round bye and will go directly to the semi finals and will take on the lowest seeded team left remaining from the quarter finals and have home ice advantage where they rarely ever lose. Who ever meets this team will have a battle on their hands as the Hawks have only lost 5 games all season and for someone to beat this team 3x in 5 games is going to be a long shot.

Waterloo Gold was the favourite this season to go deep and after going undefeated in the seeded round were way out in front of the pack at the split. Gold struggled a little bit in the AA but still found a way to finish in 2nd place. Waterloo Gold is a very tough opponent in the playoffs and have been in the Championship series the past two seasons. This team has only lost 1 playoff series in the past two years and that was to last years Champions in the Hamilton Reps. Who ever meets this team in the semi's will have tough road ahead of them.

Kitchener Rangers were definately a surprise this season and made the AA for the first time in many years. The Rangers finished in third position and will take on the Waterloo Black team in the quarter finals. These two teams have just recently met the past two weekends with both teams winning by just one goal. The Rangers should win this series but the Black have been playing better in the past couple of weeks and could push the Rangers to the limit. I would say this series is going to go 4 games with the Rangers coming out on top. Look for each game to be a close contest. Kitchener has beaten Black 3 out of the 4times these teams have met.

Sarnia Sting have been steadily improving over the last couple of seasons. I remember when this team use to be low end A team but over the past couple of years this team has surprised me. Sarnia finished the season in forth place and will take on last years defending champs in the Hamilton Reps. Looking at these two teams records the Sting are a better team but the Reps have beaten the Sting a couple of times this season. I can see this series going the full distance with the Sting coming out on top. The reason for this is Sarnia has home ice advantage and looking at their recond on home ice could be the determining factor in this series. Sarnia has tied and beaten the Reps on home ice while losing both games away to the Reps.

Hamilton Reps have struggled at times this season. They've finished a disappointing 5th place this season which is far off the mark where they were last season as they were definatley the #1 team last year and proved it from the beginning to the end of the season. Hamilton has been in the championship game the past two years losing to the Wolves but redeemed themselves last year against the Wolves. Hamilton is another team just like the Gold, they step it up a notch in the playoffs as the Reps have also only lost one playoff series in the past two years. Hamilton will play Sarnia in the quarters and look for this series to go all the way.

Waterloo Black have seemed to be playing their best hockey right now and just heading into the playoffs right now...what more could you really want??? They have beaten Kitchener, Hamilton and Sarnia in the past week!! Either the other teams took them too lightly or the Wolves are peaking right now. The Black are in the shadows of their big brother Gold team but the Wolves Black have nothing to lose as they finished in last place and no one really expects to much from them. If the Black can pull it together and keep playing good hockey they could push the Rangers the full distance or possibly even provide a huge upset in the first round.

Here's a little history for you, in the past 4 seasons the 1st place team and 2nd place team after the regualar season heading into playoffs have always met in the Championship Series. Which means Cambridge vs Gold should be the final if history repeats itself.

Good Luck to the (Sting vs Hamilton) and (Kitchener vs Waterloo Black) in the quarter finals.

Re: 97 AA alliance a tight race who will win?

First round will be complete this weekend.

Kitchener holds a 5pt to 1pt lead over Waterloo Black. This series is going as it should be and i'm thinking it will be over on Saturday with Kitchener putting the Wolves Black out of the playdowns, I think this game is going to be a tie or win for Kitchener...either way the Wolves are out. It was good to see the Wolves make the AA in their first season with 2 Waterloo teams and just goes to show the calibre of hockey that Waterloo has for this age.

Sarnia holds a 5pt to 1pt lead over Hamilton. I had thought this series would be much closer than it is at this stage heading into game 4. Hamilton has to win all three games this weekend to win the series....they can't tie. I'm thinking that Hamilton is going to win tonight with such a late game at 9pm and Sarnia on the road for it. Game 5 would be back in Sarnia on Saturday and with Sarnia's home record I think the Sting will end it no later than Saturday.

So with this in mind....and with Kitchener and Sarnia winning their series the semi's would look like this.

#1 Cambridge vs #4 Sarnia

&

#2 Waterloo Gold vs #3 Kitchener

5 wins in their last 20 games. What happened to the Reps? Not looking to bash, but seriously wondering. How can you go from number 1 to that bad in one season?

Its pretty easy....bad coaching or leadership from the bench for Hamilton. For a team who was the league's finalist in AA two years ago, ran the league last year as AA champions failed to learn and continue to develop. Even at the end of the game against Sarnia, you took cheap shots and an inexcusable cut block at a kids knee nowhere near the puck with 5 seconds left by the assistant coaches kid is just complete BS hockey because they knew they were out, great leadership in teaching your kids the game, then just leave the ice immediately after the game without shaking hands at the end of the series. Kids have no class or sportsmanship and it stemmed right from the Coaching Staff of the Hamilton team. Hamilton has definitely not learned how a defending league championship team acts. Its a shame the way you acted this year....too bad...you were a decent team! Your actions during the end of the game and after only made our victory more satisfying.

Why do you bring up the sportsmanship issue? While that is a big deal in terms of the impression they leave behind, it has nothing to do with their performance. This team has been the prime example of poor sportsmanship for years. Winning or losing, they have always been the same. Whenever they lost, they almost always refused to shake hands and it's been that way for years. But I do think you are right that it is driven by the coaches. It's funny that even when they were winning, other Hamilton teams would not get behind them. So many incidents with the coaching staff over the years had turned almost everyone against them. It would have been nice to be remembered as a good team, but the sportsmanship issue will always hover over this group.

Anyway, the original question had to do with performance. It's been said before, but coaching has been a big issue in Hamilton for years. When teams are younger, coaches still focus on playing the best players most of the time and sitting the weaker ones. At these younger ages, it very important to develop all players so there is more depth in the age group as the boys age. Obviously, that was a flaw with this coaching staff as well since they had most of these boys for a considerable number of years. With losing a very small number to AAA last season, this team should still have been a strong AA team. Why did they not take all of the AAA cuts when the AA boys moved up? I guess only the coaching staff knows the answer to that one.

Kids shake at the beginning of the game to prevent any crap at the end. When emotions are high sometimes it's best to keep them seperate. No disrespect is meant by it but it makes sure no player does anything stupid. Congrats to Sarnia and best of luck in the next round. Keep the cup out of the KW area.

Interesting. Any time our team has finished a series, we always shook hands with the other team win or lose unless the refs explicitly stopped us.

Thats funny cause every game ive seen this year the ref has sent both teams to their dressing room after the game. Ive watched AAA, AA , hub and house league and not one game ended with a handshake.

i think they are talking about shaking hands at the end of the series between Hamilton and Sarnia. Yes it is a gesture of fair play and respect. These kids are in Major Bantam and not atom anymore. There's respect and class that should be shown. I would have to agree with Sarnia on this one. Kids are getting close to junior hockey or even beer league for that matter. After a series is over...you shake hands..they do it all the way through the big league's....plain and simple.

Hey asshole....no they didn't send the kids to the dressing room, your kids that were on the ice went directly to the exit door as soon as the game was over because they were right there...and the rest of the team followed, ref never sent them anywhere. Your a bunch of classless losers!!! We shook your hands last year in your building after you knocked us out of the semi's....we didn't go crying off the ice like sore losers...you have no business making our finals or being our representatives for our league at the OHF's!!

Yes, there is a big difference between the end of a game and the end of a series. My experience has always been that win or lose, you shake hands at the end of a series. The only time that does not happen is if the refs insist that the teams leave the ice right after the game due to any end of game incidents that may have occurred. I'm not sure how anyone can say this is not how things are done. I've had multiple boys in hockey for years and this is how it is always done. Funny how when these teams played each other in a series last year and Sarnia lost, there was no question about the shaking hands at the end of the series when Sarnia lost. It would have been nice to see Hamilton do the same. But as has been mentioned, sportsmanship was never learned on this team.

I would have to say the title is going to be taken by one of the tri-city teams. Cambrdige and Gold already had a good two week rest, Kitchener played Black so barely any travel there for them, now Kitchener and Gold will play and again...not much in the way of travel for either of these teams....Sarnia I would say have the biggest hill to climb. Already had to play a series with lots of travel to Hamilton, now they will have to play another long travel series with a team who has rested for two weeks, if they win that one they would have to do it again against either kitchener or waterloo who also have not really had any travel in the playoffs. I'm thinking this is going to be a Cambridge/Gold final.

Kitchener won't get past gold in a 5 games series...and Sarnia won't get past Cambridge in a 5 game series either. Sarnia and Kitchener might steal a game in their series but both series will be over in 4 games.

Gold and Cambridge Final...you'll see!!
