Interesting. Don't look past Windsor. Any one of four could win it. Have watched this division all season. Tec seems to have balanced roster. BR too. Windsor can upset. Don't know about LaSalle. Someone said St.Thomas is in? Kent can ice the best line of starting five. Good luck to all.

what happened to windsor. word around the rink is that the new coach brought in all his buddies kids and team went into the shitter. if thats true it makes the cliche true "champs to chumps" nice going WMHA you know how to pick them. i guess its who screams the loudest gets to be the next coach. Par for the coarse for WMHA, lets not stir the pot, parents might take a stand and vote us out. (friggen sheep.)

Also heard that if you were cut from the AA team and wanted to try out
for an A team at another center, the AE coach wouuld not hold your spot
so to house league you went if you didn't make the A team.

12:08 back again, saw one and a half games yesterday. Had to leave at end of 2nd of Chatham/BR game.

What I saw:
- Windsor goalie was great, they gave Tec a tough game and he gave them a chance to win, Eagles a good team throughout, Windsor works hard.
- BR was off and never really threatened, no one stood out, down but not out
- Chatham looked good, leading 4-1 against BR after two (who won?), beat LaSalle 5-0 Sat., 2-3 strong forwards and 2 solid rearguards
- tough call for winner but it will be one of the above 4

Re: Bluewater Bantam AE Playdowns

What I saw:
1. BR off game but should be in finals
2. Tec- Strong but did nt play hard enough against soft Windsor team
3. Chat- rolling, most talent
4. Win- won against weak ST team, not strong on puck and soft along boards
Vs Tec. Done this weekend.
5. LaSalle- improving to late should have played Chat like they did Tec in last reg season game.
6. St. thom- weak, made bad Win team look decent

Chat-br final
Chat champs

Re: Bluewater Bantam AE Playdowns

Stupid moron....Windsor has more than 5 minor because they didnt have enough Majors to fill the roster, they had to take more minor players. The 3 kids that were cut from the AA team went to Riverside instead of playing AE, and no one else tried out for the Major AA team so they were forced too....But Im sure your proud of your making a glorified houseleague team, and was able to beat a team with mostly 13 year olds

Nice 7:43. Calling a grown man a "fag" under the cloak of anonymity provided by this very forum. So be it I guess. BTW, that "fag" and his team have moved on to the next round by winning three straight. Try to be civil in this forum. If that's not possible, at least try to be somewhat funny. Calling someone a fag is petty, unimaginative and very lame. Do better. wink.gif

Re: Bluewater Bantam AE Playdowns

February 9 2012, 9:44 AM

we have 3 teams in Bantam local league that could beat some of these a/e teams. The top 3 teams have at least 5 travel calibre kids on them due to the Tilbury Chatham merger. BR also has a top team that has some travel players

All 3 teams also have travel players due to the 5 minor rule, they won't be playing travel till next year as majors so for now they play local league. Full checking and these 3 top teams are amazing.

I say BR or Chatham should win Bluewater, judging by the quality of kids in local league. If all 15 players on the BR and Kent a/e team are better then these kids look out everybody else.

Tough call, played both all year long. Cobras have about 5 AA calibre players on roster. Eagles don't but third line may be better. Those 5-6 kent kids can't be on the ice all the time. If Kent's best are on they will win in a close one. If not, Tec takes it.

Seriously!

February 20 2012, 9:58 PM

Watched the Tecumseh-Kent game in Chatham on Sunday. It really is pitiful how one-sided the officiating is in chatham. Come on OMHA, grow some balls and put your foot down with these refs! Have watched Tecumseh team many times this season and they are not a dirty team. Penalty minutes for Tecumseh in that game was a fricking joke!!!

I watched that game too. Kent won, simple as that. They had as many penalties as Tecumseh but didn't whine about it. The refs were not from Chatham. OMHA playdown game. They were from somewhere else. Cobras got solid games from key players. As they go, so does Kent.

Kent/Tilbury refs are the worst in Bluewater followed by Southpoint and Belle River. It's sad to know you guys actually get paid to do a terrible job, you don't give a f#%? about the kids.

Aside from that Chatham is the best team in the area. Their a/e team is more like an A due to the Tilbury merger.
BR and Windsor both picked teams based on coaches buddies, especially Windsor, as for the Eagles you guys were OK but Chatham is better regardless of crappy refs.

^You're right about some things, wrong on others.
Wrong - refs not perfect anywhere, they won't win or lose a series for you, good/bad all over the league
Don't know - no comment on how teams were picked , BR is good though, second best next to Chatham, Tec good too but cocky
Right - Chatham is best of BW, didn't see any games with Tec but they beat them 4 times straight, not an A team, more like an mid AE team with about 5 AA calibre bodies, how did some of them get let go I don't know from AA?
Good luck to Chatham in next round.

BR is the strongest all around team by far, speaking as a parent in the stands from a totally different team, watching their game
Style and strategies they involve everyone on their roster too get the well rewarded win. Despite 2 of
Two of their very strong players being out due to recieving a lacerated kidney and getting a concusion they still stuck together through the whole omha playdowns. If this would have happened too say the "amazing
CK team" and their power forwards #7 and their captain, noway would they be able to beat tec in a series, tec would sweep the series like they're playing ENS or SP.

Brampton is an A or AA team in AE team's clothing. In other words, sandbaggers. Teams that played in their AE loop this year have beaten their A team. That tells you all you need to know. Seems like they enjoy sandbagging, its all good as long as they are winning. Good luck Kent, you will need it.

WRONG

March 1 2012, 8:46 AM

This brampton team is a mixture of intercity and AE kids from M. Bantam, not 1 A OR AA dropdown. Plus team power is from the intercity kids carrying the team, their is roughly 7 of them that moved up.

sandbagging

March 1 2012, 11:00 AM

This team has 11 kids that came up from IC, one from A the rest were AE last year.
As for the A team well there was a tryout and that coach picked who he thought was better end of story.
No sandbagging here just a well coached hockey team.

Great weekend from both teams. Game 1 tie in OT. Game 2 Brampton wins 3-1, empty net goal late. Brampton is fast and skilled, 3 strong lines. Chatham bench appears to be very short but isn't giving an inch. Shaping up to be a very good series. Looking forward to next weekend.

Correction

March 5 2012, 8:30 AM

Kent has already won the league championship. They are playing Brampton, not Tec or BR. Those teams will play for Day of Champs which is the consolation prize. BTW if Kent is only one line deep then Tec and BR should have pasted them when the other 10 kids are on the ice. Refs are from outside in OMHA, not local, which someone else blamed on the Tec loss. Tec lost 4 straight to Kent and BR lost to both Tec and Kent. While it would appear that injuries may have done in BR the Tec team can't fall back on that. I think you need to recognize that the Kent team had the best goaltending in Bluewater (only 33 goals against in reg season) and that team defense was very strong. Good luck to both Tec and BR in Bluewater. As for Kent they will have a tough time upsetting Brampton but they will do Bluewater proud.

Kent does have good D and goaltending. Brampton outshot them 40-25 both games. The goalies stood on their heads.

^To add to previous comment, Brampton goalies were tested as well. True, Chatham d-men and goalies were solid but the Brampton net minders were called on to make several good saves. More shots on net for both teams in game 1 as it was more run and gun. Not as many shots in game 2, a little more physical but almost penalty free. Good weekend from both sides.

Re: Bluewater Bantam AE Playdowns

March 5 2012, 9:28 PM

8:26: You are correct on the short bench. Kent had only 11 skaters because of injuries. It is a tough way to try and beat a team as strong as Brampton. They roll 3 strong lines and have a solid goalie. Four of their players are very, very strong for an AE team and all of their kids hustle their asses off every shift of every game. They hit hard and they don't take cheap shots or bad penalties. A couple of real speedsters with lots of skill on Brampton especially two of the kids down the middle. No matter what happens from here on my guess is the Brampton team has a lot of respect for Kent and how they have hung tough against some big odds.

Thanks for the call ref dad, shots were almost dead equal, more penalties to kill for Kent, Brampton carried the play from mid 1st to early 3rd, Kent early first and most of third. Give the boys their due rather then crapping on a team with 4 missing starters and 6 minor aged players. Kent played tough as did Brampton and it continues to be a good series. Good luck to both today.

Brampton Takes Series in 4

March 10 2012, 10:55 PM

Brampton beat Kent 7-0 to take the series in four games. Both teams fought hard. The end of the final game got out a little out of hand. I don't blame the Kent players as much as I blame their head coach who does not exhibit true sportsmanship nor does he try to instill it in his players. You have to win and lose with class. Kent, players be proud of what you accomplished this year and hopefully we get better coach next year.

To the Kent parent inquiring about the injured Brampton player. Our player suffered a broken arm last night and will now miss the OMHA finals...
Injuries happen one of your players got hurt in Brampton, you are right nobody wants to see that happen to any of these kids.
We forget sometimes that these are kids, we all get caught up in the moment when hits happen.
Yesterdays game was hard to watch at times in the third period as it looked to us that some Kent players were taking a run at our players, luckily nobody else got hurt on either side.
We appreaciated the well wishes from the Team Manager and one of the Coaches in the lobby after the game.
Best of luck to your boys next season.

Re: Bluewater Bantam AE Playdowns

March 11 2012, 9:54 PM

Funny thing calling Kent a "Gong Show" and saying they didn't deserve to be there. They had less then 20 minutes in penalties total through the first 3 games, didn't whine when a player was hit from behind in game 1 or game 4, had a young man with a broken collarbone that no one seemed to notice, played a team of all majors with 6 minor players on the roster, played through injuries to 4 starters, carried 2 HL players, played the goalies 50/50 all season long, beat the 3rd best team behind Brampton and Oakville in a tournament and showed that hard work overcomes most obstacles. Was Brampton better and did they deserve to win? Of course they were. And yes they were a classy team with great kids but did a few of them cross the line once in a while? A few times just like Kent did. No one is calling them goons or a gong show. There was frustration on the part of a very few Kent players in the 3rd period of game 4 but let's not blow it up bigger then it is. I continue to wish Brampton all the best in bringing a highly successful season to a winning close because I believe they are the best team at this level in OMHA but give credit where credit is due to a younger, smaller team who hung with them for 3 games. You should be ashamed if you are from Brampton but I suspect this is a shot from the usual crowd in Tec who do not like to lose even to a far better team.

GOOD LUCK BRAMPTON

Interesting. Brampton is certainly the best team out there but does not need to lower itself to throwing blame at the refs especially when you won the game. Don't make yourselves look bad by putting these kids out there as perfect angels. To quote one of your coaches on March 16 at 3:05PM - "If you know sports" you would know that Brampton, like every other team of 14 year olds in Ontario, sometimes take penalties or even do something a bit dirty like a check from behind or a centre who sharply brings his stick up between the legs of the opposing centre on draws repeatedly. Not to mention a head coach who spends the entire game screaming for penalties every time a hit is thrown on one of his players. You have the best team. Win with class. People will respect you a lot more. Just sayin!

Tec, the kings of the regular season but duds of the playoffs. BR and Kent were the much better teams all year.

Tec best team this year would have beaten Brampton 6 points to 4.

Idiot Tec lost 3 straight to Kent, goalies would have given up 10 a game to Brampton. Without injuries both BR and Kent could have taken Brampton to 5 and may or may not have won. Tec was not even close to either team.

Correction to the above statement. Tecumseh lost 4 straight to Chatham. BTW, nice hat.

They beat one of our lower level teams (Windsor) 2-1 in a tournament and had to score 2 in the 3rd (one on a 4 minute PP) to salvage a 3-3 tie with Kent who were missing four starters with injuries and were a mixed 97/98 team as are Belle River so get your head out of your ass and face reality.

But your starters you were missing were 3rd or 4th liners, which gave your better players much more playing time, forget to mention that EH.

Kent was best, deal with it. BR ok, some fat slow kids could have been replaced with faster bigger kids and probably beat Kent, but coaches kid was one of the fat ones. Windsor was the buddy system, who rubs who, so Kent picked the right kids and was the best. BR and Windsor missed the boat.

No one from Bluewater beat Brampton at any time this season, except for Kent in the excuse department.

I'll give you Kent guys your fair due though, you did have some great players. Your one goalie, the defencemen, one with an A and one with a shot, the C and the A up front were great forwards. If you had another line of them the series could have been different. Except for the last game, the series was good. We had a fantastic year, goes without saying. We beat some good teams along the way, you were one of them.

there are only 3 lines in AE bantam and the missing players were not all 3rd line. Also skating the top line to death doesn't make the team better in the long run, only for a game here and there. They ware out.

Lets just all stop arguing about what team was the best, what happened, happened for a reason. Sure Tec was beat out by Kent, but Kent worked for it? Sure BR had a ton of injuries but they still played as a
Team? Sure Tec lost in the finals but oh well i'm sure everyone enjoyed that game and everyone
Enjoyed the Brampton-Kent series. But whatever the
Seasons over and everything happened for a reason. Good season to all of
The teams this year.
