Millton, Oakville and Brampton were the top 3 teams and all will advance with no upsets. It will be interesting to watch how Milton does with the winner of the Bluewater league, and how rough the series will get with Oakville/Brampton.

Chances of Oakville/Brampton becoming a rough series seems pretty slim. Neither team are noted for their physical play. It could be an entertaining display of skilled hockey depending on which team shows up for Brampton.

Not sure about Stoney stepping it up a notch. They played hard and good on them for he win. Milton generated quality scoring chances all game long and was the better team. Pressure on the Creek now to finish the job. They have to beat them 1 more time to move on, in my opinion.

Re: 97AA Tri County Play-offs

JM can't coach is the ONLY problem. Milton has the talent and so did many of his Brampton teams. Throw a system at JM and he can't figure it out. JM is really not that smart at all. His house league playing days never taught him a thing about system. JM does run a decent practice and I'm sure he will have to step it up a notch if he wants his team to go through this round.

Milton good at being the Bridesmaids.

They could not take the #1 spot this season in regular play. Played in two Silversticks and only won 1 game out of 6. Losing their first playoff game to Stoney Creek and now place themselves in jeopardary hell on getting bumped out of the OMHA’s. What’s next?

Re: 97AA Tri County Play-offs

January 19 2012, 10:55 AM

Milton has the best fwds in the league, problem is very weak dmen who can't move the puck and average to below average goalies. This will hold them back from winning anything big. I commend the girl on defence at this age but she struggles huge. Stand out player in girls hockey, thats were she belongs. Milton will struggle every game if the fwds take the night off or they run into a hot goalie. Pressure the Milton defence and you can win. Oakville and Brampton much more balanced teams that can beat you many different ways. Stoney Creek proved that against Milton and everyone will take same approach. Coach should have considered putting some of their big puck moving fwds on defence at the beginning of the year.

Re: 97AA Tri County Play-offs

January 19 2012, 11:34 AM

Milton has 2 good D. After that is is a major drop off!!!
Coach should be using his better D on a more regular basis. He puts out the other D together and it hurts the team.

Re: 97AA Tri County Play-offs

January 19 2012, 11:34 AM

Stoney Creek proved what? They should of lost by 10. Even with weak D and below average goaltending, the team still had second best GAA in league. Last two games VS Brampton the third place team, 13-3. Brampton can also lose many different ways as well. I guess they aren't fast enough to pressure the slow D.

Milton is no different than any other team, all teams have shortcomings and should play to their strengths whatever they might be.

Thanks for the scouting report and make sure you all copy Stoney Creeks game plan so you to can beat Milton. Lol

Re: 97AA Tri County Play-offs

I don't think Brampton should be bashing Milton's overall D strength.

Last time we played Brampton they couldn't get the puck out of the own end.

Brampton's overall D is worse then Milton's overall D.

If all goes to plan. Brampton vs Oakville will be a great series.
If Milton gets out of group 2 and beats the Bluewater area. Winner of the Bram vs OR against Milton will be good

Bluewater area teams are bad this season. So Group 2 winner will get to at least an OMHA SF series.

Brampton VS Oakville a good series? Obviously from a Brampton parent. Brampton won't win a game if that series happens. It will be good for Oakville though, quick and painless. Not even in the same class as top 2 teams.

Not fun being at (or near) the top is it Miltonians? The pressure to perform seems evident in your hyper-sensitive comments and bashing of the competition. Jokeville is laughing at you now since you're attracting all the negative attention that's usually directed their way.

For your kid's sake, I hope the players don't crack under the pressure like your parent group seems to be doing.

Why don't you all just STFU and let the kids play the game?

The D that is out right now is not the top D on the team. A solid player and is being missed lots but not the #1 went he went down and wouldn't be the #1 if he played the entire season.

I think most people would agree he is without a doubt the teams best overall D Man. To suggest otherwise would mean you don't understand the position, aren't very familiar with the team or you think your kid is better. Whether he returns and is the teams # 1 D remains to be seen.

Milton running a full bench with no AP's. Stop with the excauses. It appears the players are cracking under the pressure, like their parents. Milton could get through but be honest, the evaluations above are pretty well right on. Milton will beat almost everyone in Tri County, but they have glaring weaknesses

Re: 97AA Tri County Play-offs

Milton, Brampton and Oakville must all use their #1 goalies in the next round in order to get through. Who has the balls? Brampton has one goalie injured so it should work out for them. The second string goalie should get only one start after you go up 2 games to none. Playing no weak teams now will favour the team who can remain consistent throughout.

Good luck

Brampton and Oakville will be a good tilt.

Milton should have an easier time but they don't do well outside their loop.

Call me crazy, but I like Brampton. They only play their # 1 goalie now and seem to have turned it around. It may come down whoever uses their bench the best when they play Oakville that will determine the winner.

Milton will come out on their side, the only hope they have to win the next round will be if Brampton and Oakville beat each other into submission so they have nothing left in the tank for the third round. That said, still like Oakville to emerge.

Milton has beat both Oakville and Brampton. Oakville did not win any games against Milton and Brampton only beat milton once at the begining of season and then got hammered by milton the next time they met. Not a Milton parent but they are a good team, just have problems out of their division. Good luck to all teams.

This particular group of Oakville players, hasn't won squat this year! Well, unless you count the early bird tournament they one. Oakville does well and is a great team, but for them to get to the OMHA finals they gonna have to play real well to beat Brampton in a series. At the end of the day, this Oakville team hasn't really won much of anything. Wont be surprised if they don't make OMHA's.

Tri County is crap so it doesn't count or matter, once out of OMHA might as well pack it in like they did.
Are favs to win OMHA and it will be Championship Sunday with MT at OHF.

So now Tri country is crap. I can think of 1 team in the tri county that you have not beat yet.
What's the excuse for that? Did you have a SS before those regular season games?

Re: 97AA Tri County Play-offs

Oakville beats teams that they would lose to in a series. They are not overly physical and their 2 best players aren't leaders in that department. If you gameplay for those 2, like you would in a series you can beat them. If Brampton shortens their bench a little, they can beat Oakville. Lots of pressure on Oakville coach to get the job done. They have run out of excuses.

Both of SC wins were because of hot goaltending. Milton and St. Kitts outplayed them in both their wins. SC is a very unfocused team

Oakville will struggle to get to the OMA finals.

Oakville Brampton 2 3 L
Brampton Oakville 1 5 W
Two games with a split in points

Oakville Milton 5 5 T
Milton Oakville 3 0 L
Two games 1 point against Milton

Oakville also had the lightest schedule in the Tri-County.
My though is this will be an Oakville loss and back to the Toilet bowl.

Easy 10:04 I'm sure he is a great leader, but can he lead by example? Nope. Look at Oakville captain, big, strong, FAST and can rough it up when need be. Your captain cant beat his shadow to a loose puck let alone outskate any of Oakville players. You have to be able to skate at the level.

Re: 97AA Tri County Play-offs

It always amazes me how everyone can twist the truth to make their own point. From what I understand he did not quit AAA, he just refused to play for the current AAA coach. As for "quitting" AA to go to another centre for AAA, it is obvious he can play at the AAA level and, given the choice that is before him at AAA in Oakville, he is sticking by his original decision to not play for a certain coach, as it has been widely reported he is an assistant for next year. Bottom line - his decision for his reasons.

Minor hockey, minor decisions. Apples to oranges, I'd say. Just look at the threads of the past - HH forcing kids back and refusing releases, parents taking the residence judgements to court, families moving for a chance to play where they want - the list goes on. Bottom line - he is lucky enough to have the choice and so the choice is his and his alone.

Hey Mommy, if little junior was as good as you say then you wouldn't need to pimp him all over N54 as you would already have a commitment from AAA team. Sounds like you're getting a little desperate and think that talking shit about another team's captain will make your's look better? Refusing to play because he doesn't like the coach makes junior look like a major whiner. I suggest you tell the little whiner to shut up and play for the next coach because with those skills his playing options are limited - read not nearly as good as you think.

Flammy is a crap team with a crap coach. They are all yappers and don't really know how to play the game. Against good teams they are over matched and frequently get embarrassed. They yap all the time like they are up by 5 even when getting their heads handed to them. Yet to throw a legal body heck this season.
