Looking at the talent in this age group this year and the very solid play from so many teams in the ETA and SCTA and this could be the deepest OMHA in years.

Really like the way Barrie is playing this season and they will be tough to beat, Whitby showed at SS just how tough they are going to be, especially on home ice. Saw BB play this weekend and liked what I saw so ya I agree its going to be a great weekend.

Barring upsets (which the SCTA tournament often produces) it shoudl be Oakville and Brampton from the SCTA. WHo are the favs from the ETA? WHitby (obviously) and ? Barrie? YSE? Kingston? SCC?

Any playoff matchup/predictions for the ETA ?:

East

Whitby
Clarington
Whitby in 4

Kingston
Quinte
Kingston in 5

West

Barrie
Markham
Barrie in 3

YSE
SCC
YSE in 6

Crossover

Whitby
YSE
Whitby in 5

Barrie
Kingston
Barrie in 4.

YSE beats Kingston in backdoor game. Barrie wins OMHA.

Have to agree, Barrie is looking super strong this year and have to be fav to win OMHA.
It will be the winner of ETA who takes title, SCTA teams just not strong enough, however, Brampton goalie is the wild card and might just steal the title for team, but its a longshot.

Barrie will not win the OMHAs.

no history of success there!

Whitby
Kingston
YSe

have all done it before and it will be one of those three that wins it this year.

Kingston does not make it to the dance. Barrie will take care of them in round 2. Kingston does not have the goaltending they had in the past, which was their major strength. Not a slam against their current goalies, who are fine goalies, but the one they lost was a huge part of their previous success. Not the same team without him. ps I am not related to him.

Agree that this will come down to an ETA battle for OMHA again.
SCTA teams have improved some but overall not nearly as strong as the ETA.
I'm picking Whitby in the end.

Brampton goalie proved at SS this past weekend like he has all season that when he's on he can carry this team a long way. I wouldn't count Brampton out.

Season play means jack. It is who can play in a pressure cooker tournament format. Barrie has not been there. YSE, Whitby or Oakville wins it. For YSE and Whitby this is their 5th year in a row at the OMHAs.

Barrie is the most improved team in all of 97 hockey. It means a lot.

If they win thats how they will do it. From what I have seen they have very little offensive talent in that league.

Can't win alot of games only getting 10-15 shots in a game and very low percentage shots at that

Oshawa? You're joking right? They couldn't even win their own AA tourney! And Barrie and YSE have both won tournaments. Crappy ones but not even close to as crap as the Oshawa one.

Same as Whitby. 2011 Gold 2010 Silver (OT) 2009 Bronze.

YSE 2011 Silver 2010 Bronze 2009 Gold.

Both teams have been the dominant teams in the OMHA for years. Head to head record would be around .500. Look for them both in the finals.

Kingston has had a lot of suspensions and injuries this season. It will be difficult to make it to the OMHA. We will have a new coach next season and former goaltender may return from Notre Dame .Boys not playing well at the moment. Not certain who will win but I would still say ETA based on weak SCTA performances last spring in Kingston.

"too many good goalies in system" - funny - but I guess you're correct if height not an issue...all short unlike Brampton & Oshawa...will be a problem next year

Sorry. Whitby goalies can't hear you because they use their OMHA medals as ear plugs to block out all the BS.

Even healthy Kingston cannot touch Whitby - face the facts. You are not the same without your missing goalie. He won your Gold for you.

kingston is def lost without goalie, that is why Brampton will be a real OMHA contender this season.

Let's face it Kingson thought they could get rid of their two top goalies that won OMHA gold and OHF bronze and still do something. Wrong. They need those two back. No one can touch either one of them. They are still top in their age group.
