| young players with good size;
I hope you are dominating now, becasue as the puberty gap closes the size/strength advantage-like by the middle of Minor midget year, you will no longer have the advantage you do have now.
so point is;
if you are forunate enough to have a good coach, listen to him if he is trying to develop you into a good all-round player.
if you are big now and still are an average AAA player, find a new sport, because if you cant dominate now, at a time when the size gap is the biggest it will EVER be for you-you will never dominate, when it levels out.
Have fun and be a good sport. |

I hate puberty. I used to look like Brad Pitt. After puberty I changed into Danny Devito. It sucks. |

Anonymous (no login) | Re: Player size | January 19 2012, 2:10 PM |

they dominate young and peak at 13/14.

Anonymous (no login) | Re: Player size | February 5 2012, 12:33 PM |
ya I guess MAx Domi was too small to get drafted |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Player size | February 5 2012, 4:45 PM |
His last name helped him. Last years TM captain Ciafrone twice the player Domi is but didnt get drafted till much later. Size matter, former NHL dad matters but hockey smarts rule |

Anonymous (no login) | Re: Player size | February 5 2012, 5:52 PM |
Cianfrone committed to NCAA therefore was taken much later as a result. Nothing about size. |

|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Player size | February 5 2012, 10:12 PM |
Domi in the top end of scoring in the OhL. Cianfrone in the bottom end of scoring in Jr a.
Not even a contest. |

Okay then what about
Dan Boyle
Rafalski
Kaberle
Ellis
Liles
White
for just a few?
You guys are smoking crack - if a player is good and skilled - size mean nothing - I'd take a player with heart and effort anytime over size
|

Anonymous (no login) | Re: Player size | February 6 2012, 7:25 PM |
Pffffft - it's not about heart, it's about skill and size. The fact that you can name all the shrimps in the league should tell you something. Yes, there are about a dozen good small players ... OUT OF 800!!! Let it go, man. |

Even if you take hitting out, the bigger Defence with knock the puck off your stick with his reach |

Who wants a league filled with lumbering oafs such as Charra and Gill? The league needs players of all sorts to make for an entertaining sport. |

m. d is an amazing player, thats why he got drafted.. and he is not that big! |
|
Anon (no login) | Re: Player size | February 6 2012, 10:19 PM |
There are many players in the NHL listed bigger than the really are. You find many 5ft 10 players listed as 6ft its a game of skill and speed big or small |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Player size | February 6 2012, 11:26 PM |
If your under 6 feet you better be over 180lbs and the best 1 out of 10,000 like you. Having size just makes your odds better. Don't get me wrong still a very long shot! |

They are looking first at size and then skill. If you are big you have a huge advantage. Thing is, its amazing how good big kids are these days. |

It's a big man's game.
Enough already. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Player size | March 4 2012, 7:38 PM |
Size only matters on Defense. Not in net and not on forward. Smaller goalies are more flexible and atheletic. Intense hitting is leaving the game small fast forwards are the way to go. |

Ok dad of small kid. It's a big mans game. Get over it. |

not in net? hey small goalie dad, 1964 called and they want your brown leather pads back. who do you think are the tallest players in the nhl? Goalies. Why? Butterfly style. Oh, and they're not only tall, but just as quick as any little goalie, only the tall ones can reach the corners faster, too.

|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: Player size | March 5 2012, 12:23 PM |
No doubt it is a big mans game
Maybe a little more consideration for a smaller player with blistering speed than 10 years ago but don't be fooled you have one maybe two smallish players per team and thats it
