I wouldn't pay for such dribble! You people need to get back to reality. The Scouting News is not a reputable place to get information on any kid. It is preying on the stupidity of parents who are dying to spend money to see if their sons name is on a list that means nothing. Just like all the hockey clinics, crooked coaches, spring hockey, etc. that has taken your money over the years! |

Agree on TheScoutingNews, but this isnt the scouting news
And FYI, its just a re-release of a new top 100, not 200-300, not sure where that one came from. |

If it is a well known fact that champion teams are built from the net out. Tell me how a top ten team in ontario apparently only has 1 defenceman worthy of a scouting report. Yet the rest of this team has profiles. That flaw in itself leaves big questions on this websites in-the-know and credibility. It is laughable. Crazy coach well known for hating his defenceman-has he blackballed them? |

Anonymous (no login) | Re: THE SCOUT .CA TOP 200-300 | February 1 2012, 10:40 AM |
Scouts look at projectability at the next level....maybe they've peaked? The next level will have different attributes that are necessary, one of the obvious that comes to mind is size and strength.
As an example, the #2 D-man on our team is an excellent skater, killer shot but makes poor decisions all over the ice often times skating into a dead end. When people watch our team play, everyone comments on this player but scouts have no time for him. We are ranked in the top 20 on myhockey rankings and collectively our team has a very low goals against.
Personally, having a son at this age and reviewing the top 100 it is fairly accurate. Is it perfect? No. But then again all of us parents are biased and we also have not seen multiple age groups go through the system, knowing which attributes lead to success at the next level and which weaknesses are major and should not be glossed over. |

Anonymous (no login) | Re: THE SCOUT .CA TOP 200-300 | February 1 2012, 10:47 AM |
Does anyone know the top 10 D man on the list? |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: THE SCOUT .CA TOP 200-300 | February 1 2012, 10:47 AM |
I think I know which team u are referring to. I believe they have a defence new to position this year and new to team which may explain how he flies under radar. Scouts not looking for guy who is that new even if he is one of their better skaters. Reality want kids ready to play now. |

Anonymous (no login) | Re: THE SCOUT .CA TOP 200-300 | February 1 2012, 10:55 AM |
10:40 If looking for projectibility, wouldn't a kid who has switched to defence this year and already top 2 on his team not show good upside? I don't think they are concerned about projectibility. Just concerned with scouting known commodities. They are not interested in the kid flying under radar. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: THE SCOUT .CA TOP 200-300 | February 1 2012, 11:00 AM |
"Shows good upside" according to whom? Mom and dad or people who have seen multiple age groups through the years and know what constitutes success at the next level....
My son is apparently rated to be a late round draft pick or not drafted at all this season. He is arguably #2/#3 on his team which is a pretty good squad in Ontario. Bottom line, he is not top 2 rounds so will not be playing in the OHL next season. Although something of a kick in the bag ego-wise I've come to accept it. It is what it is. Seen at least 20-25 times by numerous scouts from numerous teams, with little bias or conflict by the scouts, who am I to argue?
Bottom line, there remains LOTS of hockey to be played post OHL draft. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: THE SCOUT .CA TOP 200-300 | February 1 2012, 11:01 AM |
He may not be on scout.ca but he is being watched. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: THE SCOUT .CA TOP 200-300 | February 1 2012, 11:02 AM |
10:55am That's where you are WRONG! They are interested in finding the best players they possibly can for their teams. Their jobs depend on it. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: THE SCOUT .CA TOP 200-300 | February 1 2012, 11:17 AM |
11:00 you are right lots of hockey post ohl draft. If I were a kid who flew under the radar due to new to position or lack of size I definitely would be lookin at other options and not giving OHL a second chance. If OHL got it right all the time their success level coming out of draft would be way better! How do you view a kid who is new to position and see he can't be successful at the next level? If he is developing at a quicker pace than peers and physically still gaining size,he may need another year but isn't that what late rounds for? |

Anonymous (no login) | Re: THE SCOUT .CA TOP 200-300 | February 1 2012, 11:50 AM |
Coach will say different as anti-defence and pro forwards. That team not built from net out according to coach who plays all forwards on powerplay. OHL coach wannabee who blackballing defence to promote forwards. Hope someone drafts kid he doesn't promote and expose him for what he really is. |

who has the OHL scouting list ? it would be interesting to see how it stacks up against the pay sites list. If the pay site list are way off than you know it is a scam.
|
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: THE SCOUT .CA TOP 200-300 | February 1 2012, 11:57 AM |
I compared last years thescout.ca final list with OHL draft.
Although alot of kids were all over the map in terms of where teams took them (much of this can be owed to the fact families make decisions like Domi on where they want to play and NCAA commitments)the first 4 rounds were pretty accurate. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: THE SCOUT .CA TOP 200-300 | February 1 2012, 12:17 PM |
And the year before is the same as well. I think like 175 of the 200 kids listed where drafted last year. Hard to argue with that. |

Don't worry, my son is also in that list and has not received anything from any OHL clubs. We know that some clubs are interested as they have talked to the coaching staff but as of yet no one has contacted us directly. While I suspect some kids might have received letters and/or questionaires I would suspect many people on this sight that talk of having received something are just "living out their dream" |

As someone who has seen both lists, there are fairly similar. I get the need to trash it, thats what this forum is for, but be fair to the kids on there, they are all ranked as an A or a AA by OHL Central Scouting. |

My kid isn't on the list nor has he ever been since he plays A/AA, but he did receive an OHL team questionaire and he has never played AAA. Weird eh ? |

Anonymous (no login) | Re: THE SCOUT .CA TOP 200-300 | February 2 2012, 8:32 AM |
I don't believe some of the rankings on this list. There are kids that aren't even the top player on their team that are ranked higher than kids that are OBVIOUSLY way better! And there are kids that aren't on the list at all that definitely should be. So, I do believe that this list has something to do with whether you pony up the $$$ and buy the membership. |

You can write it 100 times, but the conspiracy theorists won't digest it as it means their little superstar is finished with hockey. Figure it out already!
I don't even know why everyone sweats this so much, I find it interesting. Once you have done the research and understand the odds of even first round top 5 OHL picks making a living at this sport, you really begin to chillax.
My kid is a good student and continues to love the sport. The rest of it? It's just big business and ultimately it is a blessing my kid is not off to timbuktu next September at the age of 16. |

To the person who asked about the OHL Central Scouting List. Here is the players on the Ottawa Valley Titans and thier ranking.
BS - C
AL - C
OM - AA
KS - A
KG - B
JS - B
CC - B
DF - A
Dont bitch about the kids if your dont like it, its not their fault they have been rated. |
|

What do theybase potential on? My kid is defense that is not 6 ft, despite his skating ability he isnot rated. Is it his size? |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: THE SCOUT .CA TOP 200-300 | February 2 2012, 9:21 AM |
All kinds of attributes.
How does he think the game, how is he positionally in all 3 zones, how hard does he compete, is he a good teamate, shot, passing, skating, discipline, strength, etc. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: THE SCOUT .CA TOP 200-300 | February 2 2012, 9:44 AM |
it is size you cant have a 5.9 defence playing at 16 against 19 20 year olds 6,5 220 lbs do you want your kid hurt |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: THE SCOUT .CA TOP 200-300 | February 2 2012, 9:51 AM |
Look at this years teams and there are kids that big playing D in the OHL.
Ryan Murphy played as a 16 year old and he is 5'11". Same with Jared Gilbert from the Marlies, playing this year as a 16 year old and not big! |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: THE SCOUT .CA TOP 200-300 | February 2 2012, 9:55 AM |
But those kids there absolute standouts in Minor Midget. You have to be a stand out player if your smaller. |

Its the original. New one has not been released yet.
Here are the Marlies
MR - C
CC -C
GA - A
JW - A
JL - AA
CG - A
DD - AA
DR - A
RM - AA
JA - AA
JH - AA
DZ - C
MC - AA
SB - AA
If people start to bitch about the kids, I stop posting, simple as that.
Like I said, Thescout list is really, really similar to OHL Central Scouting. |

|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: THE SCOUT .CA TOP 200-300 | February 2 2012, 10:53 AM |
Reflex reaction. Same way that parents trash top players on here. They need to justify things for themselves.
I could care less about ThesScout.ca, but the kids that are rated on there are on there by merit, based only on the OHL Central Scouting list that I have seen, and trashing those kids or thier skills isnt fair to them. |

The guy on here defending the Scout.ca list has to be affiliated with them...I only see one comment above from someone regarding being contacted by an OHL member club directly by mail/phone/agent who also acknowledges his son may not have been ranked high, or later, at all by Scout.ca. The same can be said for our son. How so?
We have had a similar experience and can tell you OHL member clubs aren't kidding around when it comes to the first couple of rounds if they target your son for their club next year. The other thing we've learned is not all clubs contact potential picks in any way before the draft and so you could well be on someones radar and not even know it.
One thing is for sure, based on our experience and the experience of the poster further above don't bank on what you here from a paid service...for good or bad:) |

Anonymous (no login) | Re: THE SCOUT .CA TOP 200-300 | February 2 2012, 10:01 PM |
Hey there 8:46, I’m the guy 'defending TheScout.ca'
If you re-read all my posts, I’m more about defending all the players on the list, as I have said...40 times? The reason that I am is…
1. I am lucky enough to have a copy of the draft list via our coach (which I have posted a few teams ratings) and know who OHL Central Scouting has as the top players. TheScout.ca looks pretty damn close to OHL Central Scouting
2. The kids have done nothing wrong, and have become subject to attacks from dads. Had that not happened, I wouldn’t have said a word. But once that happens, I needed to add my two cents.
I could care less about TheScout.ca, no interest in the site as I have the OHL list, but, the kids on there are the same ones near the top of the OHL Central Scouting list. That’s all I have said. No need to trash on the kids if they are high on both lists.
I’m not shocked that teams target your kid if he’s not that high on the list. Each teams value players differently. I had a kid in the 94 draft, and one of our sons teammates was taken in the second round after being ranked a B (7-10th round). It happens. Just as their are other players that are a few players rated high on the OHL Central Scouting list that are not on this one. Each team/organization looks at things differently.
No issue with the debate on the list, but don’t make it out as thou the kids on there don’t belong, they do, and its not fair to them to suggest otherwise.

Anonymous (no login) | Re: THE SCOUT .CA TOP 200-300 | February 3 2012, 10:53 AM |
The only posted list was the top 100, ie. AA and A players only. The B and C level players have not been ranked for obvious reasons. The farther you get into the draft, the more it becomes about team preferences, gut decisions and flyers based on a team/scout instincts.
Chillax already people. |

CM will get exceptional status. Is it the right move for the boy and the parents? That remains to be seen.At the OHL level, speed among all players is pretty comparable. It will be tough. Ekblad was big physically and mature mentally for the jump.CM competes but does not dominate at MM. |

Talking out of your ass, wow what a shock! You don't konw shit as I suspected. Hockey Canada will make announcement when they are good and ready.

Good player for sure. I worry for concussion issues though. Better to wait another year. |

No doubt this will be a significant factor for Hockey Canada too. There should be no rush, as this kid is excellent. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: THE SCOUT .CA TOP 200-300 | February 13 2012, 1:42 PM |
I always thought that part of exceptional status was whether or not the player was physically ready to move up.
I can't believe that they will determine that he is physically ready now. Great player for sure but not quite ready yet IMO. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: THE SCOUT .CA TOP 200-300 | February 13 2012, 2:26 PM |
CMD is better than HoSang IMO but physically he is still stuck back in PeeWee and there is absolutely no way HC would ever risk the liability of having CMD getting hurt in the OHL. I really don't think CMD or HoSang either will get through an OHL career without some serious concussions. It's 3 times more physical than MM |

Anonymous (no login) | Re: THE SCOUT .CA TOP 200-300 | February 13 2012, 2:29 PM |
Sure its not 4 times more physical?!? What a fucktard. |

Would all or most players on the top 100 get a call, email, letter from a scout?
Guessing they should be talking to these players regularly by now. |

Things will pick up after OHL cup when teams make final decisions on kids....still room for some movement....very few teams now interact with the kids in advance and very few send out letters. |

Have to disagree with the last part, not in the 100 and have received 3 team letters already.
I have to agree with the notion its all about individual team needs. |

Not much as we have 3 boys in top 100, none of which have a subscription. In addition 12 of our players have been written up all ranking from 4-2, and I am aware of only 3 dads on team with a subscription, interestingly one of the dad with a subscribtion does not have is boy written up... |

My kid is not on this list and we have been contacted directly by 3 OHL teams, this list is developed by a for profit website, as long as they get it 50% right people will keep on paying. My kid is rated a C in skating and all 3 teams have voiced how much they love his speed. Who ranks for this site, Stevie Wonder? |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: THE SCOUT .CA TOP 200-300 | February 19 2012, 11:44 AM |
Surprised that your boy has been in contact with three OHL team and yet his name has not appeared in Scout.ca (or at least not rated favourable). Either he plays out in the boondocks or there are three OHL team desperately looking for a mascot ot stick boy. I have a subscribtion to Scout.ca and have examine their rating and "write ups"; and must say most of them, while general are pretty much right on. As far as their rating on individual skills-skating, defence,etc- I don't put much thought into that as I realize they have a "bank" of writers, not all of which, share the same logic or standards when rating kids. The person who wrote up your kid might not have been as generous as other writers or as importantly (and this you should consider if your boys development is important to you) maybe he saw an aspect of his skating that concerns him asyour kid progresses (i.e transition, lateral movement).
I have a subcripstion to Scout.ca and make no excuses for this, if $60 is all I have to pay to get what I feel is a good insight on many players, including my boys, I consider this a decent expenditure (not worst than those parents spending $300 for a stick or even $600 for a pair of skates.) I just wish all you "losers" who keep living in your dream world stop bitching and complaining about scout.ca just because either your kid was not written up or they did not share your opinion about his game. If you look at the scout.ca site you will notice that almost 100% of the boys they have listed as level 1 or 2 are also all listed a AA or A with scout central. Yes Scout.ca does seem to give preference to boys over 6 feet, often with less skills and hockey IQ than smaller boys, but so do the scouts, both the the OHl and NCAA! live with it.... |

Anonymous (no login) | Re: THE SCOUT .CA TOP 200-300 | February 19 2012, 11:48 AM |
No dream world here, just the facts. This is all a cash grab, you should have spent the money on a good bottle of booze for after the draft when the phone does not ring as you are going to need it. You are totally dillusional! |

Anonymous (no login) | Re: THE SCOUT .CA TOP 200-300 | February 19 2012, 11:53 AM |
Fill your boots man. My kid has also been panned by scout.ca..he's over 6' rated highly by central scouting, plays on a top ten team and has been contacted by 2 OHL clubs. I will join the other guy in saying that the scout does not know everything and people should not panic if their kid is not listed. I believe that had I paid the money, my son would be on te list. You can choose to disagree. |

Yup, there is no such thing as a list beyond 100, they put that out there to suck more Dads in for the subscription fee. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: THE SCOUT .CA TOP 200-300 | February 19 2012, 5:25 PM |
11:44 That's nice but I can tell you alot of the team scouts have totally different lists than this one and alot of them saying they don't care about height as long as they can play. So shove your list where the sun don't shine cause that's all it''s worth. PS My kid not on THAT list but have received letters from OHL teams. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: THE SCOUT .CA TOP 200-300 | February 19 2012, 6:57 PM |
Are those boy scouts you are taking with...have someone share with you the OHL Central Scouting list which list prospects as AA,A,B,C and I would challenge you to find anyone on Scout.ca top 100 prospect not listed as either an A or AA. Furthermore find out how many AA or A boys they missed when rating players level 1 and level 2 and again not much variation. Now for the Levels 3-4, its a crap shoot and yes could end up being significantly different come draft day, but please don't try and convince me that your kid that got ranked a 4 or below all of a sudden as your phone ringing off the hook...please? |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: THE SCOUT .CA TOP 200-300 | February 19 2012, 6:58 PM |
Yep. My kid not on list and gotten letters and invites also.
I don't need to pay $60 for insight as that is what his advisor is for which cost me nothing.

not too many goalies on this list whats up with that |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: THE SCOUT .CA TOP 200-300 | February 20 2012, 9:18 AM |
Goalie parents did not pay at the beginning of the year and their kids are not ranked. Besides, it is alot easier for them for manipulate their list with all the forwards available and make it look legite. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: THE SCOUT .CA TOP 200-300 | February 20 2012, 10:06 AM |
Goalies have always been shallow for draft numbers because at this age they are still too unpredictable as most wont develop into OHL stock for a few years. Plus there are only 2 spots per team so obviously less numbers and the teams know they can hand out camp invites to goalies and see quite a few show up for intrasquad. |

you people are very sick in the head. im sorry but in no way should a forum that allows grown men to bash 15 year old kids be exceptable. i also find it funny that the ones bashing are alwayssss the unranked ones, come on just admit it! cowards... really thats probably one of the reasons why your kids not doing so well. why dont you set a good example for the young men. start off by showing some respect for other players (15 year old kids). the last thing any of my teammates need is to google their name and find out people have been ripping them up. i know we alll feel the pressure of minor midget hockey already. you guys should all be ashamed this forum even exists, this isnt what minor hockeys about... we just wanna have fun! its really too bad parent like YOU ruin hockey for us. |

Simple, he is a "marginal A". Most "A" rated players are rated 2 on scout.ca, but likely some 3 might also be "A". Same goes for players rated as 2 might be rated "AA" in central scouting. No a big deal. |

Ratings are fluid. Why do think the website has published multiple lists. As fluid as each OHL's team's wish list and criteria.
I have been told some teams like my son, some don't. |

Anonymous (no login) | Re: THE SCOUT .CA TOP 200-300 | March 8 2012, 1:32 PM |
But your dealing with the samr source. They rate players and then their list doesnt reflect their ratings. I'm confused. Since they dont know what specific teams needs are or opinions are, this is all hypocritical. |
