No blowout games during the season keeps this a close match up. JrC may have a little more scoring but not enough to give them any edge.

***VK vs. RW will be another good match up. Both team are boiling over with bs right now so this could go either way. Both teams can play a hard hitting game. Should be a full game sheet of infractions. If VK can hold it together they have more firepower and should win.

****TT vs. Sens could be a great series. With a 1-1-1 line it could to either team. The wins for each team have been strong with 3 goal margins. The 4-4 tie shows each team is open to mistakes. Defense wins here since both teams are missing top end scoring.

Pretty accurate, I'd say. Kings have way more talent, but so much will depend on which team shows the most discipline. Where the Red Wings might get pissed off if they are down, the Kings might just give up. Both teams missing top players out with injuries. This will be the best series to watch, I think.

Marlies vs. Nats

Marlies played 8 games since the break. 5 against non playoff teams. Marlies scored 47 goals but 39 or 83% were against non playoff teams. They allowed 11, 4 or 36% against non playoff teams. Marlies allow to many goals vs lower ranked teams for such a good club, and don't scored enough vs the better clubs. This could hurt them in the second round. Maybe need to focus on defense first in round 2.

Nats played 7 games. 2 vs. non playoff teams They scored 12 goals but 71% were against non playoff teams. They allowed 17 GA or 2.42 per game. The Nats can score against lower ranked teams and allow way to many per game to make an impact in the playoffs.

Marlies are to strong for the Nats to have a chance.


Rebels vs. JrC

Rebels played 7 games, 4 against non playoff teams, scoring 21 goals. 14 or 66% goals came from non playoff teams. The Rebels only allowed 3 in those 7 games and 1 vs. non playoff teams. Rebels have a good balance of scoring and defense. No high end talent and will need to really work to win.

Jr C played 9 games, 5 vs non playoff teams. Scored 33 goals with half coming from non playoff teams. Not bad. The problem the JRC have is defense and goals allowed. They had 18 GA in those 9 games and nearly half were allowed vs. non playoff teams. GA and depth in scoring will hurt this team.

Its going to be tough but the Rebels should take this series. Defense will win. Won't be much of a physical series since both teams can't play that game.


Kings vs. Red Wings

Kings played 8 and only two vs. non playoff teams. 21 GF with 10 in one game vs. NYR. Allowed 12 or 1.5 per game. Only 3 vs. non playoff teams. A good record given all the changes going on there. A good balance of scoring and defense vs. playoff teams shows they can complete still.

Red Wings played 8, three non playoff teams, and scored a respectable 19 goals. 10 were from non playoff teams. GA were 17 or 2.12 over the 8 games which is not great heading into a difficult playoff series. No high end talent and GA could hurt vs. Kings.

Looking at the stats the Kings should win. This series will be decided with special teams. The team that can stay our of the box will win


Titans vs. Senators

Titans filled the net in 8 games with 48 GF. Five games and 31 (65%) GF game from non playoff teams. This kills the 48GF stat a little. Titans allowed only 9 GA. Another great stat. They allowed 4 (44%) vs. non playoff teams. This kills the GA stat a little. Another 5 were allowed vs. the JrC. They have holes but will be in every game.

Senators also played 8 games, four vs. non playoff teams and did not fill the net. 12 GF and five vs. non playoff teams is not a great stat. The Senators also played 4 games with one GF in each. The team had a 1.5 GA over the 8 games, a decent stat. Senators allowed 5 to non playoff teams, 3 in one meeting with the Reps.

Defensively the team match up well with a slight edge to the Titans. Offensively the Titans are just better. Another series that may come down to special teams since both clubs can play a physical game and may spent lots of time in the box.

I am a AA dad who was at the game. Yes, looking at next year moving to AAA. TT was the dominant team for most of the game. Senators goalie made the difference. Made three saves in first two periods that kept the game at 1-0. TT have a few kids who can wheel. TT gave up a few period 3 shot to Senators that rang off the cross bar but. That was the only time they had scoring chances before the PP goal late in the third.

I don't disagree that tieing up a game in the dying seconds isn't motivating. Sens kids battled hard 6 on 4 and got the job done. Especially after being dominated for 2 pds and having their goalie keep them in the game by making several excellent saves. But I think taking a dumb penalty with 2 mins left and then losing because of it is probably more motivating for one particular kid, who is also the top scorer on the team. So I suspect what's going to happen tonight is that that kid is going to make amends by scoring three goals and assisting one more. Now, maybe your motivated kids will score a dozen goals tonight - who knows - but I definitely know who the most motivated kid on the ice will be.

Titans / Sens game good. Better than Sunday with more hockey and less trap by both teams. Evenly matched teams but Titans have the upper hand. Both are have limited offense and both have goalies that can keep them in the games. Titans goalie made a few saves that kept it at zero and is the Titans best player. Sens tender was their best player again and gave them a chance. Ref called a very close game and tossed one kid for 3 on a questionable hit from behind. Should have been a 2 min and one game. Another game delay to the Titan goalies was a little much. Sens had 7 minutes of PP time in the first 8 min and could not score. One goal in two games for the Senators will not win this playoff.

Rebs not scoring much either, but still managing to hold jrcs to even less goals. Jrcs frustrated and taking lots of dumb penalties. If the rebs can get the PP going, look for them to win by a bunch of goals next game.

Kid was on the ice during the 5 Min Powerplay. TT coaches did bring it to the refs attention, ref indicated that there was no such rule. But as we are all aware, refs in the GTHL are all idiots, and yes, there is a rule governing that situation. At the end , you hope the kid was ok, but the kid that got tossed may not of deserved a 5 minute major.. A one game suspension would of been plenty.

The rule is if the penalty was assessed for injury, if the player received a 5 min major for a dirty hit it does not cause the player being hit to sit it out.

New rule this year. If you are hurt badly enough to warrant a major being assessed, you have to sit the entire penalty. This was put in place to prevent coaches from telling kids to stay down to draw the harsher penalties.

Last night was just "goon" hockey and yes there was a few kids from each team that looked like AA players at best.

Ref allowed it to become a goon hockey game.This rev up the players and the parents, . A good ref'd game would of had different results (not indicating the outcome of the game would of been different) but how the players and parents would have acted and played..... Lets hope the rest of the series gets some good reffing and let the boys entertain us with some good hockey. Two evenly matched teams they are.

Bullshit. Reffing was fine, first period was fine. When kids started getting out of hand, in the second, he started calling the penalties. A few parents on both sides need to chill out, esp the dark haired titans lady (you?). Your kid is as bad as any for cheap shots, dives, chirping the other team and mouthing off at the ref. In deffence to the hot tempered Titan lady her kid did seem targeted the whole night with cheap shots and most of them werent called. Also most of her angry comments were made towards the refs and then comments from our side fueled her fire. I think we all need to calm the faacckk down!!

Sens have a history of goon hockey. Maybe these particular refs were not familiar. Sure they called penalties, but things were already out of hand by then. Basically the refs lost control of the game. In the end, this affected the outcome, not to mention, someone could have gotten seriously hurt. This is hockey, a contact sport, but when the physicaity turns into intent to injure, that is where I take exception. Hopefully the next set of refs will get a handle on the fact that the Sens only way to win is via intimidation. This is very similar to the Red Wings style of play, and it will only get you so far.

well, the game last night was not one of either teams better games. Alot of problems with control on either side. I will agree that tempers were high, but, as one post said earlier, the ref let things go too long,.Early penalties would have controlled the game, but not making calls early and then flooding calls with the same offense starts this control loss on the ice.

Only difference between the games between jrc and rebs is that rebels played decent where the 4 0 losss was brutal

Jrcs are done. Rebs totally dominated again. With the exception of their terrible game the other night, they've carried the play, as expected. And no, the 98s weren't stellar either.
