BUDGET FOR 97AA TEAMS

My son has been asked to play for 2 AA teams next season and I just want to make sure they are no surprises in the Budget.

How much did you pay per player to play AA this pass season.

Only include -----Registration fees, uniform and other required clothes, all practices, tournament entry fees only ( not gas and hotels) and any additional power skating or dryland training.

What was the cost per player. I'm thinking arould $2,800 to $3,000. Is hat about right?

Just tell us how much you paid and if it included anything that was not on the list of items. You don't have to name the team. Just be honest.

I think most teams were in the $3,000 to $3,500.

Not many were under $3,000.

He is not coach Warriors next season. They have a coaches wanted add on the Trade Ice web site so they are looking for a new coach.

It is $4,000 per player this season because Poindexter's kid gets a free ride.

Is Poindexter coming back next season? Imagine if he applies to be the coach. Ouch.

It would seem like the range or average is more like $3,000 to $4,000.

Most teams seem to be over $3,000.

If it's not close to or a bit over 4000 you know you're on a weak team with little hope of competing, of having the complete experience, of good development ice, etc....

Not necessarily true as overpriced pants, jackets, gloves, tracksuits add a lot of money to the budget. Take these items away and as long as you have 2-3 ice times per week, you are doing well and can stay well under $4K

Re: BUDGET FOR 97AA TEAMS

March 22 2012, 9:58 PM

Wow The west 'top tier' teams got to play against 8 teams below .500 Play them all twice thats 16 wins right away. Over saturation is a huge problem and some teams had less than 5 wins. Time to fold as nobody in their right mind should pay $3-5 k to watch their kid lose every game. Assess your kid without rose colored glasses and decide if this is really what you and he want. If he hasn't moved up yet he probably won't and the midget years are all about smash mouth hockey.TESTOSTERONE

Your Welcome

Not at all. Finished top 4 this year. The thing is that you don't need to add all the crap apperal that the teams try to force on you. A track suit is NOT going to develop a player. Spend the money on training and cut the crap and the budget will be fine.

Re: BUDGET FOR 97AA TEAMS

March 23 2012, 12:26 PM

9:21 You are so right. Kid don't need a bag every year, and a jacket, and a hat, and track pants, and a golf shirt, and a paid summer dryland guy, and a paid in-season skating instructor, and a paid goalie instructor, and paid coach, and paid assistant coach, and paid trainer, etc.

Totally ridiculous. System is messed up. I'd love to join a team with two items in the budget. Team fee for sweaters and practice ice.

Screwed up coaches pretending they are pro hockey coaches. Never had a team yet where the money was put to good use.

What you morons dont understand is that the majority of budget costs are for ICE.

OMHA community owned teams do not pay the same price for ice as GTHL clubs.
Toronto/Miss/Vaughan community owned teams get city rates.
Private owned clubs pay the most for ice, therefore are more expensive.

In my sons last 4 years of rep on the same team the manager only bought jackets for the new kids on the team. The team uniform was the shirts all the kid wore to Catholic school black pants and any shoe that was black. She always tried to find the cheapest ice available for extra practice. No one needed terack suits touques etc. Worked out very well and we always had money left. It can be done, but the manager has to put in a little work to do it.
