| Don't care for CBC movies most of the time, but I enjoyed part one. Anyone else see it? |

Don Cherry is an imbecile. Same logic that suggests that MLSE is not financially motivated by gate revenues for playoff dates suggests Burke would forego an Ontario born player if he could make his team better. As I said, imbecile.
The movie was entertaining but to me showed Cherry in a pretty poor light. The scene where the speech coach is trying to get him to improve his diction was classic. He simply walked out on him. |

Don Cheery is dead right, the last time the Leafs were good was 93 (A bunch of boy's from Ontario)!!! |

I like the period pieces. Nice to see Sarah (as Rose) dressed in clothes that make women look feminine instead of looking like sluts and whores all the time. Thought Sarah was fabulous as Rose. I miss the old days when women looked good.
Never would have thought 25 years ago that singers, dancers, and movie stars, not to mention high school girls, would adopt the stripper look full time.
She must have been a saint to put up with a cement head like Don for all those years. Definitely plan to watch the second half tonight.

The Leafs have drafted more OHL kids then most other teams. I think they have 11-12 over three years.
Facts are your friends! |

Don Cherry is absolutely right. Fucking Peddie should never have hired Burke in the first place. It's like a wop managing the English national team in soccer. Plain stupid.
The Leafs, unlike EVERY OTHER NHL team, could actually ice a team of players that were mostly local. Their home games would actually be home games.
When the Leafs won in '67 most of their top players were Ontario boys (Armstrong, Horton, Stanley, Ullman, Mahavolich, Walton).
If we have to watch shit hockey and no playoffs delivered by Americans and Euros, what's the point. Bring in some Ontario boys. |

12:57, 12:52 here in 1967 60%-70% of players were from Ontario! Times have changed, but yes I think babyface is right (who going to bleed for a jersey with a Maple Leaf on it)?
Ontario boy's |

It's actually a legitimate point. The Stanley Cup means more to Canadian boys than it does to the Euros or the Americans. Find a Stanley Cop winning team that wasn't dominated by Canadian boys. |

Leafs drafted Stuart Percy first round last year, Oakville ONTARIO.
They have another good young d-man coming from Toronoto, ONTARIO Jesse Blacker with the Marlies in his first year.
Other prospects like Greg McKegg, Jamie Devane, Nazem Kadri, Josh Leivo, David Broll, Tyler Brenner, Sam Carrick, Andrew Crescenzi, Richard Greenop are all from ONTARIO.
Today, good hockey players come from all over.
You idiots deserve Cherry and his idiotic, myopic rants.

Ya missed da point, 1:23. Cherry was ranting about no Ontario players, cuz Toronto is, uh..., situated in Ontario. Leafs have a bunch of Canadian boys...it's the fact that no Ontario players play for an Ontario-based team that bugged Cherry. Got it, dummy? |

Honest question here, please don't yell and swear at me, OK?
Does anyone know when 2nd part of Don Cherry Part 2 is on? It doesn't appear in my tv guide.
Hate to say this but the CBC has really done a nice job on this series. Whether you love or hate Cherry ( there's really no in between, is there?) it's a great story.
Cheers! |
