Why doesn't one of the elite coaches in the organization take this team as it is such an important year. Is there an elite coach in the organization?? |

What is taking so long? If nobody applied to coach than go out and recruit some coaches. You think the good teams sit back and wait and see who applied? They go after the best coaches they can find. |

Not gone yet - OMHA watching closely & CD better do everything on the up & up because MD will be punished hard if any funny business is going on. They know what CD does for a living and will be watching his tricks. And with the NNS no-release policy, ZB won't be escaping too easily either. |

|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: GCMHA/Niagara North 2012-13 coaches | March 28 2012, 2:25 PM |
For starters, he shouldn't be releasing the likes of ZB & MD. I know MD's Dad will be playing games like "For Sale" signs on the house, but NNS has a no-release policy and it would be a shame if ZB was let out of the centre. The only way to attract other players would be to keep the existing core players (and yes, it was tough using the plural form of "player" there). |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: GCMHA/Niagara North 2012-13 coaches | March 28 2012, 3:12 PM |
Not from NN but I do think you have a decent core team there......just need a few more pieces. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: GCMHA/Niagara North 2012-13 coaches | March 28 2012, 3:55 PM |
I agree NN isn't a bad team. Lots of errors made during tryouts last year. Coaches did no recruiting and brought up the wrong players. Converting forwards into defenceman who didn't backcheck as forwards wasn't ideal. There were many teams worse than NN this past year and they can still be better. If CD stops sulking and just lets MD play without the added pressure all will be fine. |

New coach must be busy trying to convince his top 3 to stay. Sta is busy recruiting to build a great mm team for next year. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: GCMHA/Niagara North 2012-13 coaches | March 29 2012, 4:27 PM |
Sta only got 1 from NN last year. He could make it next year. One went to NF and he only there cause they carried 17 skaters. Coach doesn't have to convince anyone to stay, they have to convince the coach if they want to leave. If everyone would quit sulking and buy in for a complete season, NN could be a decent team. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: GCMHA/Niagara North 2012-13 coaches | March 29 2012, 4:29 PM |
STA is busy recruting? How do you recruit players that will not be released by their home centre? Great plan. Only sets up for failure. |

Many questions for sta for up coming season.
6 players were F1's from other centres.
Not sure if all or some will be back.
NN has a coach in place. Let the games
begin. |

FL has stated no one is getting a release as to a bunch asking for their F1 waiver in his meetings. Either play here or go back to your home centre and play there. Seems to be only two options. |

ZB @ Tryouts will not be released...His dad might get one though if the last 2 years parent group has any say! LOL.
He and JD were more worried about having their smoke break at the flood and screaming and swearing at the kids not using any positive reinforcement and getting the kids rolling.
Sad situation.... As loud as CD is... who wouldnt be frustrated after the type of coaches MD has had the last 3 years, sad.
FG would have been an awesome coach for Bantam & MM but he moved on to Jr hockey, he would have attracted quality players and the scouts respect him.
Good luck to the Players hopefully the Team will do well as new Coach appears to be a respectable stand up guy and well rounded Coach, and thats loads better than the crap they have just gone through for 2 years.
Pulling your Goalie when losing 8-1 in an SCTA game....wow... He said he did it to embarass the kids????
JD & PB you guys were the embarassment.

MB All he cares about is being physical and bodies on the ice. Total MEATHEAD! How are you going to bodycheck an Oakville forward when you can't catch him. Sooner or later you have to be able to put the puck in the net. It will be fun to watch NN's home games. LOL. |

With the majority on last years scoring being released/cut or refusing to play for NN they'll be lucky to score 30-40 goals in season play seeing that they didn't replace those kids with any AAA caliber players |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: GCMHA/Niagara North 2012-13 coaches | June 1 2012, 8:50 AM |
They signed to BB players from Lincoln and a AA player from Flamborough. 3 slowest players on the team. Big trouble. |

LOL there's already is a AA team in St Kitts that would probably give NN a good run for their money considering whats left from last year and what was brought in for replacement. Just hope that NN's center that played with MD decides to play AA rather than going to NFR.

Anonymous (no login) | Re: GCMHA/Niagara North 2012-13 coaches | June 25 2012, 3:40 PM |
the players brought in to this team wouldn't make the AA team. This is what happens when you have a bunch of NN board members (parents) from dd centres evaluating and trying to prop up their players. There is no way they should be on this team. |

Gotta feel sorry for the kids left from last year, they build friendships and gel as team for three or four seasons, play some decent hockey in hope of getting noticed in the MM draft year only to have it blown up and asked to start from scratch in a stronger SCTA loop by a bunch of fucking idiots that don't have a clue as to the abilities of each kid!!! |

Anonymous (no login) | Re: GCMHA/Niagara North 2012-13 coaches | June 29 2012, 11:30 AM |
7:04 this isn't how a team should be managed. NN should have done a better job with this team over the last few years and players from AAA and from AA have shown they deserve to be on this team long before BB players. The wrong people are calling the shots in this organization and they influence the coaches they pick. |

The boys from BB West Lincoln will surprise. They earned a spot on this team and they will do very well. You'll have one clearing the front of our net & the other planted in front of the opposition's net. It's not the Sedin twins, but they'll do their fair share of the work. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: GCMHA/Niagara North 2012-13 coaches | June 29 2012, 3:30 PM |
What did you expect? That all good players in Niagara go to NN for MM? Because that what happens every year in Niagara, 1 or sometimes 2 (95 year) AAA teams in Niagara are extremely competitive with teams from all over Canada and the US. This year it was STA. Look at yourself in the mirror and think about how good your kid really is. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: GCMHA/Niagara North 2012-13 coaches | June 29 2012, 3:52 PM |
They weren't competitive in the SCTA you tool, they didn't get out of the big weekend as #1 or #2. Oh btw they won't be all that competitive this season with all of the ex HBD's either |

247 - thanks dad - although it must have taken you a long time to put together that one. Cant wait to see it happen - first of all they have to be able to skate to get there and this only works if other scta teams playing 3 men short. too funny. |
|

|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: GCMHA/Niagara North 2012-13 coaches | July 9 2012, 4:43 PM |
MD is moving into STA's AAA catchment, nothing illegal about that. Too bad NN's board members have no idea what they're doing when it comes to bringing in a progressive minded coach rather than a throw back to the 70's that'll be pushing some kids that already have a history of serious concussions to play a role that could seriously injur them. BTW MB and his coaching team would've probably cut MD anyways, they would've wanted to turn him into a goon instead of a goal scorer. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: GCMHA/Niagara North 2012-13 coaches | July 9 2012, 4:56 PM |
Of the players that were cut, what players that were brought in are actually better???? |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: GCMHA/Niagara North 2012-13 coaches | July 9 2012, 10:32 PM |
I think the real question that should be asked is which cut kids are actually better than the ones that made it? Like it was said above, slim pickins' in this zone at the '97 age level. The # 8-9 forwards & # 5-6 D could have been just about anybody. No superstars were cut that could have drastically improved this team. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: GCMHA/Niagara North 2012-13 coaches | July 9 2012, 11:36 PM |
Are you trying to tell us GV who has no forward experience is a better choice than NG? Something stinks! Is some one on the payroll? My prediction is MB will quit this year because of how stupid he will look. JD will probably pick up the pieces again. JD might be a little rough around the edges but there is no bullshit behind closed doors. He is there for the kids. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: GCMHA/Niagara North 2012-13 coaches | July 10 2012, 12:02 AM |
What I'm saying is that GV, who will be a 3rd line forward, has replaced NG, who would have been no better than a 3rd line forward on this team. No conspiracy, no, payoff, no back room deals or wives offered up. Both player have their strengths & weaknesses & MB obviously has a role in mind for GV that maybe NG wouldn't have been able to fulfill.

NN has one maybe two players that can put the puck in the net. Goals for average will be around Nolan Ryan's ERA. Lots of penalty minutes, suspensions and injuries. I feel sorry for the kids. Will be another embarassing MM year. The only reason MB did well in JB is because of his outstanding roster. What goes around comes around LOL. |

12:02 Your're a moron. NG was the best center on the team last year (other than MD who should have palyed center) and at the spring tryouts. Who's gonna be #1 at the position, MC or MC, give your brainless head a shake. MC last years 2nd line winger is too scared to play a physical game, MC the D player is too small, too slow and too selfish to play as #1. If shithead MB was smart he would have turned JP back into a winger, he wouldn't have got a bone crusher, but would've got size, speed and a goal scorer. The team will be slow and ineffective offensively and especially defensively with the replacement players. Still can't figure out the logic behind cutting JK and JP,2 good skating D players with size for the STA castoffs, particullarly the short kid that can't skate very well. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: GCMHA/Niagara North 2012-13 coaches | July 10 2012, 3:34 PM |

absolutely right - hey but for the rest of you guys be careful what you wish for. you decided to run jd and pb out of town. now you have a pre-paleolithic coaching staff and will battle nfr for 4-5 wins a year. only winner are the goaltenders who will see 60 shots a night after teams beat the various old-time pylons at centre ice. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: GCMHA/Niagara North 2012-13 coaches | July 10 2012, 6:22 PM |

There's obviously 3 centres that are better in the coach's point of view & I'm sorry that upsets you mommy or daddy. But he's just a coach who's been around the game for years and you're a parent, so what does he know? |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: GCMHA/Niagara North 2012-13 coaches | July 10 2012, 7:14 PM |
Neither one pal. Are you the parent of one of the STA kids that suddenly got displaced when the when the exHBD's came to town. Though I would like to hear the answer to the question about the better centers, is your kid one of them? If he is then speak up. |

To bad for the kids. What coach would totally change a team going into MM year. NN assoc. should be embarassed to let this happen. They should of realized MB was incompetent. Too late now. The 98 players hopefully will have a good year in MM. A friend of mine told me years ago if you want your kid to do well in hockey get him the fuck out St. Catharines. Again too bad for the kids. We have been playing spring and summer tournaments and it makes you realize how bad NN is. People in charge should resign at NN. Bring in somebody competent and not be swayed by board memmbers. Board members parents on 97 NN team? STINKS LIKE SHIT TO ME? |

|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: GCMHA/Niagara North 2012-13 coaches | July 11 2012, 5:50 PM |
The coaching staff are arrogant and ignorant. Who would string a kid along to the final tryout, cut him and tell him that his skating and shooting aren't upto AAA caliber. Conventional thinking and years of so called coaching experience would be that skating and shooting skills won't improve drastically from tryout #2 to tryout #6, so why not do the decent thing and cut him right after the second tryout and let the kid explore other opportunities. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: GCMHA/Niagara North 2012-13 coaches | July 11 2012, 5:58 PM |
totally agree, if the kid wasn't gonna fit the team profile or didn't have the skill set the coaches were looking for, he should have been cut loose after the second tryout. That is ignorant on their part. |

There is plenty of leadership on the AA team. Defence will suck because a bunch made other AAA teams (but not good enought for NN?) but there are more leaders than on the AAA team. Worry about your own problems, you have got plenty. |

Gonna be funny when the NFR win the ex game. Gonna be funnier if the NN cuts do some of the scoring. The funniest thing will be how stupid the coaching staff will look. Maybe one of the phone calls should be to CD and offer him the farm to bring MD back.

Feel sorry for the players and parents (especially the ones from last year that had no ides what was going to transpire with the change in coaching). Don't feel it for the coaches and NN organization, they're totally responsible for the train wreck that happens this season. They should all do the honorable thing and resign at the end of the season. |

The team did alright last night; haven't heard from the countdown idiot at all, I guess the boys shut him up. To the naysayers, even though the boys did quite well, it'll be a no-win situation for them anyway in your eyes because if they would have lost, you'd be all over them & the coach and now that they've won (convincingly I might add) you're going to come back with "it was just Niagara Falls". Let's see what's posted today! |

Alright NF, you have had your "BIG" opportunity to find someone worse then you but alas you are left looking.........ahhhh too bad......but wait, lets go to ever productive "blame the referee's scenario"......that one is sure to garner you some support!!!!! I am sure there will be a "wait till next time"....or "you were just lucky".....or "who cares anyways".....or how about this novel idea.....shut the *#*$ UP!!!!!!!...let the teams play the games, let the coaches coach and try to keep your Kreskin like crystal balls firmly hidden in your jockstraps where they belong.
And as for you NN whinners, how about you shut the *#*# up as well and let the kids enjoy the game.....you do not know what's best for this team or you would have submitted your name for the Head Coaching position and you did not!!!! They may or may not be #1 in Ontario but if you continue to bad mouth everything about this team do you really expect them to have a positive attitude or do we not teach that anymore?????
ENOUGH ALREADY!!!!!!!!!! (FROM BOTH SIDES!!!) |

as long as we allow players to cheat the system and get to STA we will be in this stage. Not all cheat the system they actually move or do what they need to do to get there. NF and NN will be like this as it becoming normal for better players to do this. Only way to make sure minor hockey remain minor hockey is to do this. Sad to see teams have to battle to keep players in there system. NF and NN must come together. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: GCMHA/Niagara North 2012-13 coaches | August 16 2012, 11:29 AM |
People would stay if you put together a quality program. When you're losing in all (OK, most) age groups, that shows that the associations need to step it up. Out of the 18 teams (novice - midget x 2 Niagara Centres) there was a combined FIVE teams that played over .500 hockey last season, only TWO TEAMS won more than half their league games (22 & 19 of 36) and all 18 teams combined record was 194-381-74. They won fewer than 3 out of every 10 games! When two organizations put together that consistent a record, one or two coaches or half a dozen players that bolt can't be to blame. Niagara North was all for amalgamating the two Niagara Zones last season; Niagara Falls fought it. It is quite evident this needs to be done because quite simply, there are not enough quality AAA hockey players living in Niagara. Combine that with the ineptitude of the Executives of the boards, and you're in for another long season & beyond playing hockey in Niagara no matter what age you are. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: GCMHA/Niagara North 2012-13 coaches | August 17 2012, 9:13 AM |
There arent a lot of quality AAA players living anywhere |

Anonymous (no login) | Re: GCMHA/Niagara North 2012-13 coaches | August 17 2012, 9:31 AM |
Maybe if these organizations actually delivered what they said they would vis-a-vis development, training, high-level coaching, non-biased scouting help, etc. they would have more credibility.
NF & NN organizations are reaping what they sow...
Smarten up NF & NN - Do what you say...the only hope you have is get truly high-level coaching in place with documentable experience, not a volunteer with a couple of assistant coaches who don't know shit. You need to make NF & NN a destination of choice, not as a last hope at the end of the line.
It's all about integrity and credibility. Your call.. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: GCMHA/Niagara North 2012-13 coaches | August 17 2012, 10:01 AM |
Like the last post.
Disagree with destination of choice, you dont have a choice you play where you live.
Coaching - every coach has close to the same creditials, they have taken the clinics that they need to take.
I mean there not many NHL players that coach minor hockey these days.
Match creditials up for your guys and our guys you got the same.
You know recruiting is against the rules and you guys do it so putting us down when it may be your guy crashing at the end of day seems wrong.
Agree associations have to put development on top of there list. Change of appraoch is needed. |

Every time you take from our centres you vindicate the coaches you now bash.

Explain then.
You get better by cheating the system. Teaching the kids to bail out cause your not winning and better shot at the show.
Your minor midget aaa team last year was a clear example that you have limited home grown talent.
Your association and coaches showed they had little faith in the players they groomed from the get go.
Your every thing wrong in minor hockey. |

Keep in mind that STA usually ices highly competitive teams many years before a few NN and NF zone defections are added. And frankly, both NN and NF zones ice subpar clubs even when their teams have those players who leave later.
Like attracts like. Good players want to play alongside other good players. |

8:25 - Perhaps if the coaching staff / association told the truth right from the beginning you would be right in your comments. Perhaps they could have said, "Yeah, well, we've never ran a team before.." or "Listen, we may have said we'll help your kid get ahead but we have favorites", or "Sorry but our hometown kids get preferencial treatment". However, misleading statements and outright bullshit leads me to believe that money was the only consideration...nothing of value was taught, nothing of value was given, nothing of substance was provided for the money that was paid.
That is why people are pissed off...they feel they were had. It's nothing more and nothing less... |

TO THE BIG MOUTH THAT POSTED THE ITEM BELOW:
For starters, he shouldn't be releasing the likes of ZB & MD. I know MD's Dad will be playing games like "For Sale" signs on the house, but NNS has a no-release policy and it would be a shame if ZB was let out of the centre. The only way to attract other players would be to keep the existing core players (and yes, it was tough using the plural form of "player" there).
MD'S Dad playing games.... Well eat crow or eat your hat or Eat Shit.....
House for Sale was Sold and MD and family move at the end of the Month... and MD is playing for STA !!!!! |

Everyone got to stop the blame game. Its not about the $ you spend and not the association. Hockey provides our kids a place to have fun and learn about ups and downs, compete, communication, life skills. Every year my child now teen learns something new even if it may be for a team that tends to be on the losing side. The association charges you $ just like any other business out there and we all have put $ into something that hasnt worked out. The association does not put the puck in the net for you. Coaching, well there volunteers just like we were young and there not NHL caliber so give them a break. Everyone expects perfection, the system has never been perfect. This game will suffer if our kids resemble our actions and comments on network 54. |

Kid from the Falls..... Why would he want to play in that circus... A/AA Team and a couple of AAA`S .... brutal.
Cheat the system.... Oakville recruited : A couple players from the USA - Ottawa - Sarnia - Quebec - The Marlies -...
Thats not Cheating the System.....
