Use of the Official WMHA Logos
Mon Mar 12, 2012 @ 07:48AM
To all our members,
Just a quick reminder that the WMHA logo, and variations there of, are registered and legally protected under federal copyright law.

Anyone who creates, purchases, or in any way provides counterfeit WMHA products, is not only acting against WMHA’s Rules of Conduct, but is also infringing on the WMHA’s sole and legal ownership of this logo.

Furthermore, this puts the association at risk since the association has a contract with a sole provider (currently Roy’s Enterprises) for all off ice apparel and merchandise manufactured with the WMHA logo.

Moreover, sales of WMHA products subsidize our programs and our membership fees. It is not only illegal but the loss of this anticipated revenue increases the cost for all our members and will impact the association’s ability to provide the programs we all expect.

That said, unfortunately, one of our teams this season was disciplined for doing just that. Amongst the actions taken, a team fine of $500 was assessed and the team had to turn in the counterfeit products, which will be destroyed.

This is to serve notice that this is considered a Major Infraction under WMHA Rules of Operation, and warn of potential legal consequences to any individual or team, who create, provide, purchase, or in any way distribute counterfeit WMHA items. This unfortunately can include the immediate removal from WMHA membership for both the adult and the child involved in facilitating, providing or purchasing counterfeit products.

In order to avoid any unfortunate instances, please review Section 11 and 5 of the Rules of Operations document, which can be found under the 'About Us' > 'Policies/ByLaws/Rules' menu on our website.

Also, Section 23 specifically copied below:

Use of the Official WMHA Logos

23.1 The Association logos are registered to the WMHA. Any depiction or duplication of the WMHA logos without written permission is strictly prohibited by law.

23.2 The Whitby Wildcats logos are for the official use of the Board. They are copyrighted and are not to be used without permission from the President.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your director before you act. If you need approval for the use of our logo, please contact me directly at:

[email protected]

Thank you for your cooperation,

FS
President
Whitby Minor Hockey Association

Then go with some vendors that give reasonable service and prices or give some choice in vendors. You must be getting some kind kickback to continue with these clowns.

within our association we are not as draconian, we have a preferred vendor that we will direct business to and they will usually get it for 2 seasons.

then of course we as a board open it up and 3 -5 proposals must be brought before the board

Obviously there is kickbacks as it says in the original post that some of the funds are used to subsidize registration. The association's financial reports should be available to the public.

Re: WMHA - get real

Here's the real story, conspiracy girl.

Once upon the time, WMHA sold their own clothing. Benevolent volunteers would have to be dragged to the arena once or twice a season to sell a bunch of clothing (to rude members such as yourself), that was out dated and somewhat lame. These volunteers would drag dozens of boxes of clothing out of storage under pad 1, and back into storage. Hockey volunteers would have to purchase and carry inventory and was often left with thousands of dollars of clothing in inventory (members money) each year wasting away in a damp storage room- If it didn't 'disappear' somehow from the storage room. All this with parents, uninformed and arrogant, just like you complaining that there weren't enough times during the season they could buy WMHA clothing and complained that there was only one style of jacket and warm up suit.

Then the association had the revelation - that it should focus on hockey instead of selling clothing. Imagine that. They went out and got quotes from local vendors and came up with a program that included internet sales, arena sales, and no inventory or product for hockey volunteers to manage. This would allow hockey volunteers to focus on hockey (genius!) and reduce the cost to our association (your money). Imagine that Einstein.

In the end, our money is not tied up in wasted inventory, no one is asking you or any other dick head like you, to give up their weekend selling WMHA clothing. And with all the sales events and online sales...more money is generated with less (or no) work from any hockey volunteer. It was such a good idea that Girls hockey is doing the same program, Oshawa and other associations are copying this WMHA system.

I know that this won't change your mind that someone is getting a kick back because you can not understand how, unlike yourself, any volunteer would do all this for free. I'm just glad you are not volunteering and expecting kickbacks. Your kind don't last long as volunteers these days.

People actually volunteer without looking for kick backs. Imagine that .But I know you can't dick wad.

I prefer the 2:38 post. It's so much more concise and well thought out.
