however Ted Baker stated that he would be subject to all O trade rules including the Lessio defected pick rule (can't find the link right now).

so he could still be drafted by Erie but choose not to report. this is what Erie should do to gain a shit load of picks + a 1st round comp next year, however they would lose a top impact player this year and put a hole into their rebuild, as the real rebuild for them would begin next year.

1. the Lessio rule which will allow Erie to trade his rights for draft picks plus receive a compensation draft pick depending on when he is released. Lessio, Ebert, Rychel, Domi, Bateman and Fowler went via this rule. the league comp is a 1st round if the player's rights are traded by Sep 1 (all the players above less Fowler unfolded like this), or a 2nd round if the player's rights are released by the next draft. Kitchener only received a 2nd round comp for Fowler because they thought they could get him to sign. no players can be exchanged under this rule. money trades are illegal in the O unlike T2. does it happen? way not far as often as "they say" but it has been rumoured to happen

2. the Lindros rule where any 1st round UA can be traded during the January (1st to 10th) trade window. here the player could also report and play for 4 months or he could sit at home and await the trade. under this rule Bassin could get any combination of actual players plus picks. Kirby Rychel experienced both rules last year: from Barrie to Missy via the Lessio rule, and then from Missy to Windsor via the Lindros rule.

Other families in the loop feel the same way or you'd see a hell of a lot more accurate info on here than you do.
