I see a couple players stats get posted and the thread gets locked. What's with that? Are stats too hard to handle for some?

Does it make a difference being on the list? Look at last five years of draft picks from this team. The best of the best. Where are they now? High majority are playing junior c. If that's enough bragging rights for you parents, knock yourselves out.

2 and 12 will be drafted along with 15. They have all been contacted by a bunch of teams. A few other players are just being contacted now for a chance at a late round.

Ya! So! And where do you think they will be next year? 12 keeps working he may get a box seat but other two? No way, not to insult either kid but they just aren't good enough, and when it finally hits home for the parents then it may be easier for the boys.

2:48 are they good enough to be one only a few 16 yr olds chosen for junior , or out of the other 3000 kids out there are ,any better than them or are they the best? Not at all, not a chance but we can keep beating the same horse or you can all look back next year and remember reading on here. It's not going to happen for the the ones mentioned in this post! Sorry we are all grown ups here we should have no problem understanding how it's going to be. Or will we?

Re: Barrie Colts

Soon you all can all go back to reality and will have to get a new life. In the meantime while trying to think about the next step to take in order to find something new to let consume your free time. just go back to your sad life of two car payments, mortgage payment, try to keep above the credit cards all the while trying to save for kids education. And hey while your at it, why not tell your boys that only 8% of the world population do not have to worry about all of that. And .01% are able to make a living playing professional sports. Good luck to all the boys that go somewhere in hockey and even better luck to the ones that don't . That is when they are going to need you to be parents again not Wanamaker be managers

Yes there wasn't any heart on the team and yes that was in big part to do with the Baboons that thought they could coach. I read earlier that he tried going to a junior team so I checked it out and he put his name in as an ass coach. That got shot down, must have stepped on the wrong toes because they want noooo part of him. Guess being arrogant and self righteous doesn't always pay off .

Turned down flat .Revenge is sweetest when you get to see it first hand. He should have thought a little more when he was pissing all the kids and parents off with no regard for his actions. Coaching is one thing and Power tripping is another especially when it affects the ability of a real strong team that could have went all the way. Still don't feel fully gratified so more to come. Still have some more marbles to bargain with.

Re: Barrie Colts

April 3 2012, 4:36 PM

Nope. Someone who has been watching from afar.

Coaches probably were crap, but when people put all the blame on one party and can't accept responsibility themselves, then that is sad.

Your son will never get far in hockey if he can't look in the mirror and accept he didn't do enough. Stop giving them excuses, you do them no favours.

Re: Barrie Colts

April 3 2012, 4:48 PM

You sound real responsible"from a far" shows your mentality if you think we discuss this kind of crap with our kids to begin with. They think what they think all on their own. They dealt with it first hand. So get off your high horse and have a bite of reality, all the crap was the coaches fault. They skewed up big time and that's never going to be forgotten, even with bleeding hearts like you.

You think they wouldn't experience crappy coaching in the OHL or Tier 2?

What's your suggestion, shut it down because we have no leadership?

Yeah, I'm on my high horse, this thread has been long and flaming for a VERY long time. You Barrie parents have been one of the pre-eminent entertainment threads on N54 for many years. When did this coach come along, in minor atom?

Sure, go ahead keep blaming everybody for everything that has impacted this team. You still don't get it.

Re: Barrie Colts

April 3 2012, 5:30 PM

Not suggesting it be shut down but maybe a higher authority check up on these guys once in a while and hold them accountable. Sure it's only kids hockey but the time and money and heartache involved it should be better monitored. Also at this level the assistant coaches should be at made to have some credentials other than house league pee wee playing experience.

Re: Barrie Colts

April 3 2012, 5:43 PM

4:56 ok so let's not blame the coaches. Who do we blame? Parents? They don't have any say. Players? Hmmm they do what they are told to do. So who's left? These guys took on a major mentoring role in our kids lives, so they can do whatever they want no matter how it affects anyone and at the end of the year just go on their merry way and too bad so sad. That's not right, teams win and lose that's a part of the game we have all accepted that fact, it's a game. To blatantly act like jerks and have no mentoring attitude or even a concern about anything except their social time, a baby teething, or having to close up their trailer in playoff games of tournaments and all the while bitching at the kids saying they have better things that they could be doing and that they can't wait for the year to be over, that is wrong and the kids suffered because of that mentality, I'm sorry but that's not right and that's not what anyone signed up for. So before you offer a opinion because you have been following this thread thread and are supposedly not even on the team shut up and listen. You have not earned the right to comment(unless of course you are on the Team) .

Re: Barrie Colts

April 3 2012, 5:56 PM

Open perception shows the coach doesn't care about anything or anyone. It's been shown at his workplace as well as on the ice. What can you do? Nothing just grin and bare it. And then get over it and hope there is a year end party so everyone can say their good byes now that's "funny"

Re: Barrie Colts

April 3 2012, 6:03 PM

5:38 my kid at least made a list and he will make it. It's a list of unsatisfied parents which in the is what eventually is going to change how AAA is run. Too bad it will still take time but the amount of money that someone pays to play at this level, the association will hear from all the unhappy parents and eventually it will make a positive change or no one will bother going out

If you bitched about coaching and development in Major Atom and continue to bitch about it in the draft year why in gods name did you not go somewhere else? If cmd and 15 others could get it done why could you not? wait that is the answer...you were not wanted anywhere else!!!!!

Re: Barrie Colts

April 3 2012, 6:52 PM

And the answer to that is we maybe were hoping for proper coaches to take our kids to the next level. I know it was totally wrong to think like that but what else do you do? Go play house league assuming your going to get crappy coaches or quit? I know there nothing that can be done now but all to often the powers that be just throw it on the players saying they sucked and the parents were bad and write the year off and go screw up another team.WRONG! That's why we keep this thread going and hope that someone notices

4 and 12 the third line. Guess coach doesn't know how to pimp kids. Didn't he screw 4 in the last game. Kids had to carry 8 all the time. Pimped 13, 7 and 17 by always starting them as first line, but no power play so not to effective. 4 and 12 always did well when 17 with them or even 14.

Re: Barrie Colts

April 10 2012, 2:24 PM

From another thread but it really does apply to this group as well, maybe add in a strong team but he played with weak players all the time and appearing on Scout.ca website top 200 etc.

Who do I blame for my son not getting Drafted?

Firstly the coach. If he had done things differently - played him more, more PP, played him with top players... He must have said something negative about my kid to all 20 teams local scouts. He didn't develop my kid enough. He was too even with ice time and clearly he is dumb because my kid deserved more ice, although he did play his favourites too much and my kid wasn't his favourite. Favourties parents must be paying him on the side.

Secondly blame the OHL. The average team only scouted our team 12-15 times because we are a weaker team. They only like the kids off top teams. The games they came to my son wasn't at his best and lots of games he played great they must not have seen him. The teams must have taken a combined 100 picks of favour drafts. 300 kids got drafted out of a few thousand eligible players (Ontario and US-eligble States) and if they did their homework they would have seen my kid was one of the top 300.

Thirdly blame my kid and his teammates. I told him to spend more time working out in the gym starting around minor bantam but he wouldn't fully commit. He did workout hard for 2 months before minor midget though. He didn't workout during the season but thats normal right? He didn't do any extra skill development on the side but thats not his fault, coach should have done more. We never missed a game or practice all year but other kids did with really no punishment. He played with dumb kids and my kid is hockey smart and they aren't so he couldn't showoff his skill. He didn't listen enough to me when I explained things to him and he would throw those dumb headphones on the second we got into the car - he doesn't understand that I know quite a bit about hockey even though I never really played the game beyond AA.

Lastly blame Ego. Stupid Ego, I want to brag that my kid got drafted. I opened a facebook account a few months ago so I could brag to my old friends about how good my kid is. My wife is asking me what the point of all this crazy AAA hockey is, and why we had to move, and why her son was crying on Saturday night but my ego keeps telling me she doesn't get it.

Why isn't everybody as smart as me and seeing how great my kid is at hockey?

Agreed if you put him into hockey and invested time and money in the hopes he would "make it". You are a complete idiot! You should have invested your time and money for him to play a game he loves, learn life lessons and be active, if he moved on bonus for him. You have put so much pressure on your kid that you hurt his development. LOSER!!!!

All drafted kids need to make squad. There is still some hurdles here, granted having the opportunity to try-out is awesome. Be happy for your fellow parents and kids, save the sour grapes.

Why not just get over yourselves and your kids lack of talent because they didn't make draft list. Time to get a life you fucking idiots. To still try and pimp your kids on here c'mon too late and to even mention #4 obviously that was dad or mom 4 did dick all the whole year and to be captain what a waste. He never made the list because he was not a stand out what so ever only living from past years. Everyone else evolved and improved, he did not suck it up and move on. Re: Barrie Colts

May 3 2012, 10:25 AM

THis site is crazy, always comes back to this kid (goalie) must be his mom keeping his name in it. Anyways less than 30 percent of goalies are actually taken in the OHL, most go back to AAA not even JR A so parents give it up. last year I believe 12 goalies were actually taken between OHL and JR A that is very unusual. Goalies take longer to progress, coaches wait for maturity when it comes to goalies....so stop with the grief of both these goalies not getting drafted, most after the 5th round are politically drafted but will not see ice.

11:11am Raiders rookie camp this weekend, goalies first on Friday.

Highly doubt Raiders would sign a rookie goalie as they have normally been a top team. I know they are actively pursuing a 94 birth year who was previously with them and is currently property of another top team in this league.

Over the Last two seasons:

BM record- 29-29-10= 68 points

Good Luck to BM next year with this parent group.

It was not the coaching that made this team underachieve. It is what the players put into there game. It will not change now.

That's a coaching issue. Poor decisions were made that came back to haunt them. Let's not discuss the suspension to the wrong boy!

I do believe only a few would make Midget AAA this year they may have to travel up north to continue on in AAA. YSE and SCC will not require any of these players.

Do not underestimate the level of talent coming from the 96 team. There will be more than a few playing Midget AAA. Count on it.

Midget AAA does not require many players so those boys at least not all of them will have a spot on the Barrie team. Midget is Two year remember. It is a very cut throat year so be prepared to even sit a lot if you make it on this team.

From an outsider who watched the 96 team play quite a lot. I still can't understand why #12 was not drafted. Hard working, explosive with a lot of upside. Are there gaps in his game? Of course there are but many kids were picked that were far inferior. The only thing I can figure is that he is going the NCAA route. If not, too bad. I very much enjoyed watching him play.

Many drafted with a loss less talent and inferior work ethic. Would have loved to have him on our team. When it comes to Jr hockey, they really don't give a rats ass about the parents.

Jesus Chr#*t you are all a bunch of lunatics. I personally know 2 Junior A hockey scouts (not "bird dogs"), 2 Junior B general managers and 1 NCAA div 1 recruiter. They all do thorough background checks on each players family focusing on the parents. The only time they will overlook the lunatic parents is if the player is a bonafide first liner. Retort if you like, but its all true.

Re: Barrie Colts

June 13 2012, 8:03 AM

Stiil the coaches need to take the blame for the team. They have a couple kids that seem to be on teams that are always having troubles. The coach had this team for 2 yrs and should have been able to weed them out. Good or not, they needed to be passed over so the team could have jelled better then they have in the past. Players that are good skilled wise were alot of the problem around the rink. SF, if you were as big of a scout as you think you are, you should have been able to pick them out and let them go.

Funny the kid drafted highest had a parent who said nothing at the games which really
makes you wonder if maybe YOU screwed your kid out of any chance they had at being
drafted and now need someone to pin it on (coach)

Re: Barrie Colts

The fact of the matter is all of you all knew what to expect going into MM.
The same coach predictably would give you the same results.
Everyone had the same chance to leave Barrie as the 3 YSE boys did to the Marlies, the NCP goalie and a SHWA kid to Whitby.
But NONE of you ran away from this “poor development and coaching”
Why?
Because not one of your kids were good enough plain and simple.
The draft was testament to that and you ONLY HAVE YOURSELVES TO BLAME for stroking your kids EGO by making them think they are better than they really are.
Now please shut the fuk up.
