Scroll down.

Little doubt the knives will come out shortly from those not seeing their kid's names......five, four, three, two, one

Not seeing it. Disproportionate number of YSE kids in first 5 rounds. I understand it follows team needs but still doesnt explain some of these picks. Be interesting to compare this list to the actual draft come next Sat.

Again, i saw yse play london at the ohl cup and yse looked be in way over the head. Locke was the only won i felt would get drafted. Safaric played and did nothing, took me till 3:00 mins left in the game to determine that coric was even playing and it was only because i wondered who the plug out there was, he was very ineffective. and i couldn't tell you if wain played because the yse team looked lost out there against ljk speed and skill.

take it easy sparky. you watched 1 game. scouts watch some kids at least half a dozen time and others 30 times.

ever heard of had a bad game? or a bad tourney? no need to call a kid you watched play once a plug.

Not that I care that much, but Sarafic was hurt all week. Didnt play a game. Was on the gamesheet and recorded as playing but never stepped on the ice. Curious what game you saw him in?

Dont care, just hate when people make things up...

Hate on for whatever reason, but correct me if I'm wrong, didn't they only have one days rest after 5 games in 3 days at the OMHA's where they tied 3 games? They have talent and at least 4 that will play at the next level, a couple right away and others down the road. Are you that upset that your kid isn't on the list?

5:49,

No hate on. Saw yse play at silver stick. Was impressed with locke and coric and thought wain and safaric had potential as well. Was not impressed with them at ohl cup. Locke and taylor kept them in the game. I'm positive all will get drafted just agree with 6-15 like the intheoradio mock would suggest.

Goal scoring is something you don't teach. Same as size. The rest are skills that can be developed. Natural goal scorers won't wait long to hear their names called. Good luck to all in the draft. I hope your hard work is rewarded.

Taylor had a horrible second half of the season and will drop to mid to lower rounds. His act wears thin real quick. Needs an attitude adjustment. As for Locke..he has a big upside if you can keep mommy away long enough.

locke and coric dropped alot over omha and ohl cup tournament.
masson, dermott and macdonald improved their ranking.
wain had a good omha tourny and poor ohl cup.
Taylor will be a 6-8th rounder

YSE usually has 7-10 players drafted. I think they will likely have that many again, but later than in past years.
Certain players have played themselves out of earlier round consideration (kl,nc,ms)due to poor and ineffective play in the omha and ohl cup.
Will be interesting to see where the goalies end up.

Getting in the door is half the battle. Whether you are drafted 3rd round, 6th or 12th round what is the difference? It is not like it gives you any leverage or like the NHL affects your signing bonus.

At the end of the day, every player has to make the team from 1st rounder to 8th to free agent.

Benefit of being drafted is twofold, First you will get invited to their camps this year, hence experience and second you will be under their radar next year and will likely have someone watching you play while you develop. It is almost the equivalent of "knowing someone in management" when you are applyinmg for a job (might also work against you). This being say, no need to "Pack it in" if you are not drafted, if you progress next year and develop into a potential player you will get invited to their camp and get a legitimate chance at the team.

Watched LJK all year as a parent from another team in Alliance. There will be a few more in first 5 rounds from that team for sure.

No, there will not be. Those kids may go in 5 thru... but you are pushing it for first five rounds.

I think they have 3 from Toronto and the rest from eta, alliance and scta. Probably 1 will go first round.

Re: First Five Rounds OHL Mock Draft

March 31 2012, 5:15 PM

It is obvious that many people on here clearly dont understand the purpose of the OHL draft.

very simply put.

1) Rounds one and two; select talent that they feel are ready to join the OHL rosters NEXT season. this is easy, mainly baed on size and obvious talent, scouts and teams usually agree on the top 40 players-the order they are chosen isnt really that important in the big picture.

2) AFTER round two-teams are looking at players differently. they are looking for players that will be "game ready" in two and three years time. 17 and 18 year olds. This is where parents get all out of whack with reality-they cant understand why some kids get taken ahead of their little superstars. it is a projection forward two years, not an endictment of who the best players available NOW are.

set your expectations accordingly.

That is true of most years but this is a deep draft. Expect several third rounders to play next year.

not even close! Many kids have been told going in the first 3 to 4 rounds that have not been mentioned in any lists. many will be surprised
