You are the biggest loser dad in the world if you are worried about your AA kid making it to Junior.Get a life you drunken druggie asshole you probably still make him go to hockey schools and run around the block 8 times before you give him supper. Why don't you worry about your own life and career and less about your kid.Goalie dads are the most fucked up of all the fucked up parents in minor hockey. The reason your kid is a goalie is because he couldn't skate and is a terrible athlete and therefore the kids put him in net when he was young. |

He just loves playing and loves learning and improving. He's only 16, why does he need to stop learning now?
Maybe he is in AA because of economic reasons!
Maybe he wanted to play with friends.
Maybe when he's at goalie school he loves the sense of accomplishment.
Who is the loser if you think your kid should just stop improving because he was not drafted.
Why not encourage him to keep playing and be the best he can be??

12:06 you're a HUGE idiot!!!
Reason my son became a goalie was because he loved the challenge and the rush he got playing that position. Mentally you have to be very mature to be a goalie and sorry to break it to you but you have to be one of the top (if not best) skater on the team. He was a top player before he became a goalie - all it took was one game in net and the adrenaline rush he got was enough to make him change position. It also helped that he was good at it and had the maturity level.
It's annoying when people like you who know nothing about the position shoot their mouth off. Do your research before you comment.
And no I'm not bragging as I'm not mentioning who my son is but you really do need a reality check!

Andrew Engelage, AA goalie out of Oshawa was drafted by Windsor - set record for most wins in one season in OHL and Memorial Cup - goalies mature so late, should never be drafted anyway |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: AA Goalie make it to Junior hockey? | April 13 2012, 1:55 PM |
and he actually played "A" hockey until Bantam...
good success story and a good reason why the 12:06's of the world should STFU. |

It's often said that goalies develop later than players - so true. So glad for this kid from A - it doesn't happen often, but it happens. |

And Oshawa dicked him around like many kids. Played AA his draft year. |

Lots of kids went from A and AA to junior hockey. To be fair most had late grwoth spurts. At 15 they were just not physically ready. By 16 and 17 they are 6+ ft and ready for junior. |

There are a lot of goalies that play jr a,b or c and higher that never played AAA. Goalies position on the most part develop later. Lots of goalies get picked up later at 17-18 |

Goaltending has become such a technical position and it requires so much composure and focus that these kids simply mature later. To 12:06, you are obviously a dolt with an axe to grind. Get over it! Hockey is awesome and goalies are a special breed, and to all of the other goalie parents out there - I feel your pain! It's killer to see your kid tread the fine line between zero and hero every single game. |

Special breed? You are truly a wack-job! Many kids have not even tried goaltending so how special have you self declared your kid? If many of these athletic kids tried it, I doubt they would have much trouble succeeding. Its not that hard. Play goal myself and dont find it difficult at all. |

To the A hole(s) who sh.. on kids with a dream, how does it feel to be Gerald McCaughey..... (Oh wait you are too stupid...etc unless you google it). To get there at least these kid have a dream and the work ethic to try. I just hope you clowns don't crap on your own kids dreams like you crap on other. My kid did have have the dream and did not get there but it taught him a work ethic that got him into a good school and is doing his masters. Flame away, but at least have the balls to tell me what is wrong with a kid having dreams. |

Mine wants to keep playing after Midget but school is extremely important. Are any of the the Jr. programs less time consuming then others? (i.e. Jr. A is almost every day while JR.C is maybe only 2 times a week?) |
