well it all starts this week and there have been many rumors about people coming and going & some changing their minds and deciding to stay. How about someone giving us a breakdown of what has really traspired in the last mth or so. How many holes do we have to fill and where are we getting the players

I know the Team quite well and Tryouts are around the corner how many kids are actually leaving and where are the imports you talk of coming from? Imports for the sake of Imports is a waste of time we need Quality players not other centers cuts. If thats the case we might as well draw from our own center

So is a close game and if your kid bombs under pressure during tryouts he would do the same at AAA Midget during a game when it counts. We can't afford to take players who can't handle the pressure. See you at AA, it's slower, more time to read and react, and maybe that is where he truly belongs.
Your opinion is an emotional one based on your son's failure. He might be a star at AA so enjoy his success there!

AAA is faster AA slower and so on but in tryouts they all look the same so how much better are these kids. There not your only as good as your team mates and if they dont pass the puck then your average. So teach them to pass and you will win more games.....Look at the A team last year moved the puck well and won but when they didnt they lost .

Tonight will be the true test for the boys having most of the AAA boys in the line up but we still need help it just goes to show that the AA and A kids really are not ready for this level, faster and bigger and stronger players so the question is can RM bring in quality imports I'm thinking not its not because of RM or the team it's OMH, and what kid would want to come here and play for a losing organization sorry if the truth hurts but those are the facts

Re: Oshawa 97 AAA

April 23 2012, 11:22 AM

Yes the score does not look good. Some kids never got a chance to prove them self's in a real game situation. They were going with size and not smarts and speed. Some kids look great in a practice fighting for the puck in a corner but can not react in fast game. That is where the Coach should have looked at the boys who played in the play-offs to see what they can do. Ask there Coaches who they recommend ( 3 players) and give those kids a longer look. I know AAA is a fast and bigger and tryouts are tryouts. But if kids are still there in AAA try-outs that did not play well in AA, A the system is not working. Coaches and Oshawa Minor should be working together to push the developing of these kids up. But we are stuck with the system we have and the kids and Coaches have a short window to make a team. Good Luck to all the kids and you never know where you will end up. Work hard and keep developing because over the summer there could be alot of kids growing taller and bigger.

In reference to "That". You don't think the system operates on loyalties or that the players the coaches mentioned aren't getting special attention.

Re: Oshawa 97 AAA

April 23 2012, 12:34 PM

In any good system you should be pushing the so called better player up to see how the development process is going. How else do you rate their progress and improve your system. By just letting Coaches look at a player for a couple of try-outs without any games is hard. You would think Oshawa Minor would want certain players that have been playing well for them all year get the chance to prove them self's. When you see players in AA, A leading there Team in Points you want them to go up against stiffer competition so that they can become better. They should do that more maybe through out the year in practice and if lucky a couple of games.
Just looking to improve the system.

Re: Oshawa 97 AAA

April 23 2012, 12:36 PM

...so much typing...and yet so little substance

Stop trying to draw conclusions from exhibition games during tryouts when you don't factor in the full context. In most cases most parents have no idea what the mix of AAA, AA, and A players is that you're playing against.

For example, Clarington only had 25 skaters show up for their AAA tryouts. So, in Saturday's first game it was pretty much all AA and a few A players playing against a majority of Clarington's returning AAA team, so the outcome was no big surprise.

If you want to jump to absolutes and throw around retarded assertions that collectively the entire AA team could beat the entire AAA team, then you're an idiot. It does serve to show which players from a lower level are ready to make the jump up versus which ones are not. Whether the skaters that were released or kept are ones that I would have made is completely subjective, but the point is there are some grounds for taking a closer look at certain individuals.

...back to development in the 'Shwa'

"Just keep developing the kids" ? That implies that to just keep showing up to the rink is accomplishing that. Statusquo always works right ? That's the way GM operated for over half a century....and then declared bankruptcy a few years ago. I guess if you're on the receiving end of favourable benefits, and you have the means to effect policy decisions, you're going to keep pushing for statusquo as well.

We have seen some coaches who have done a good job at raising individual skill level. We have seen some coaches yield some higher levels of output from bag skating them.

What we are not seeing are coaches who actually have entire teams working together from a common game plan that is creative and effective. For the past few seasons, especially at the AAA and AA levels we have either seen two dimensional run & gun squads, or a clusterfuck of puck hogs.

Have we actually had any coaches attempt to do that ? Yes, but there's too many parents who will only let a coach do his job without interference so long as they get what they want first.

Put away the syropy politically correct bullshit. Drown your kid in positive reinforcement at home.

When people claim that Oshawa's success is tied to the consistency of the executive and coaching decisions, well take a closer look at the core of the '97 parents. Which ones are affecting coaching decisions, directly and indirectly, on a consistent basis from year to year ?

If it was last year's AAA COW beating our AA team 9-0, then you would have nothing to say, but you conveniently keep overlooking that possibility. You're not just ignorant to context, you're intentionally avoiding it, because otherwise you have no substantive point to make.

agree with 11:44 completely

to 11:35 AM: I'll also be a complete fool and waste a bunch of typing by attempting to rationalize it for you...on the off chance any other rednecks are also reading and if I can convert just one redneck at a time, there is hope for the human race:

The U-16 camp was an excellent experience for the kids. For argument's sake let's just say that every player that attended the camp has an equal chance of making it to whatever the next level might be for them. This camp gave them an excellent example of what the process is like to live and play at that level. It served as a cross-sectional view of a day-in-the-life of a would-be junior player.

I look at this as a motivator to the players who attended. It served as a glimpse or a taste of what could be. The message was: if you liked this experience, then you can see why it's worth while to put in the extra work to give yourself the best possible chance of making it to the next level.

There are obviously no guarantees. It serves purely as an incentive.

My son was not in the camp and yet we both watched some of the games and really enjoyed it. I asked some of the guys if they were enjoying the camp and they were all loving it.

This was an excellent experience for them IMHO.

For you to come on here and attempt to generate some petty subplot only serves to reveal just how desperate you are at trying to mitigate your own kid's shortcomings by somehow minimizing the attributes of better players.

Why don't you tell us what round your own kid is going to be drafted in, rather than speculate on someone else's kid.

He'll learn from it and move on as will everyone else, somehow I suspect you will continue to bring up this non issue consistently on this site and secretly sit there with a smug smile on your face checking constantly if anyone responded to your dumb ass comments. Sorry to tell you but you don't matter

he is the best at RD skill sessions though. Good luck to all players it will be fun to watch. RM will do wonders with this team, can`t wait!!!

History shall repeat its self. RM will trash another good hockey team. He has never won anything. Ask the scouts and GM's what they think of RM. This will be your worst hockey year.

I guess by sending the whole team to cross fit he thinks that will improve them, oh and where is team captain going TLAP must be a exceptional player that he doesn't need to train with the team, looks like good team chemistry again

Really...give it a rest and find someone else's team to comment on. Does it make you feel better about yourself or your kid's own team to say that Oshawa's or anyone else's team should be an A or AA. Obviously you didn't make it anywhere so keep your opinions and your bullying to yourself!

Good old RM coaching oshawa draft year! you can predict the outcome. Have a look at the oshawa 96 aaa team 2011/2012 draft year. The guy is dumber then a stump. His goalie coach doesnt have a clue what he is talking about. Have a look at our goaltending this year.
