Milton 97AA

Is this team sticking together?

The talk was that a few player's were going AAA.

8 going to Guelph AAA
69 going to Halton
7 going to Halton

Is the coach coming back? Is his daughter coming back?

Great season boys, but it was sad to hear my son telling me about this team breaking up. Glad to hear ome of the boys moving to AAA.

This was definitely their dream year. The team will change, as it does each season, how much remains to be seen. MMHA having minor midget AA tryouts in Sept does not help.

To my knowledge hurricanes are not taking Milton AA players. They have their heights set higher than that. If the majority of the team stays together and the coach comes back they will contend for the top spot again.

It's funny how that Milton team had a great year and now parents feel their little superstar is too good for AA and would be willing to go to Guelph AAA. Milton AA team would beat Guelph AAA team, so what's the point to go play AAA in Guelph? If you say it's the draft year I'll die laughing.

Shows how uneducated parents are regarding draft. So #7 and 8 are going to Guelph AAA to get drafted??? Now thats a heartbreak ready to happen. I hope the parents aren't actually putting that in their heads. Nobody from Guelph is getting drafted including your 7 and 8. Guelph wont even have scouts watching them.

In case you didn't notice she did play, you must have been so focussed on your little star skating double time to tie it up after being down 2. You are welcome by the way that was probably one of the most exciting games of your season. Anyways off to a new season I guess yours is one of the players who didn't make a AAA team still living in the past.

11:46 - Ya, what a dominating force. Reality is you won, congratulations. But you bearly made it through the semi final game. After reading all the hype about how great the Terriers are. I thought they would come into the OHF's and not have any goals against with 8-0 wins all the way through.

Your team looked good and played well, but were in NO way dominating.

Terriers played their worst 2 games against Milton, Terriers played way better teams throughout the year and in tournaments. But in a one game situation anything can happen. But they still beat you...twice. Vaughan was a better team and you saw what they did to them in the final.
Bad "karma" by the way when the Vaughan players were high five'n the Milton players when they came off the ice between periods during the semi final game.
I guess losers hang with losers.

Only in Milton do they call a coach a dummy. After being perennial basement dwellers forever, this team in two years has won at least 100 games, a few tournaments, a league Championship and a OMHA championship. They even played in the OHF's. My kid can play for that dummy any day. 11:49, I hope you will step up and run a better practice because word is the dummy ain't coming back, but it sounds like you know what your talking about so offer up your expertise so the rest of us can stop

Re: Milton 97AA

May 2 2012, 2:37 PM

All, sorry for not getting caught up in a timely fashion but as I have already sent out, until we are able to roster a Midget AA team the rest of the group is in limbo.
As it stands now there should be close to 30 trying out for the Midget AA team on Thursday this week. I feel extremely confident that we will be able to assemble a roster and then move on to the Minor Midget AA team.
I have sent a request in to Lori Brading to obtain icetime around the 12th or 13th of May for the 1st tryout and the 2nd possibly a day or 2 later. Once it has been confirmed I will send out the details.
If all goes as planned and the numbers are there to support it, we will get ice time for the Minor Midget AE team once the Minor Midget AA roster is finalized.
Again sorry for the delay in getting the message out but this is a tedious task with lots of moving parts and I'm trying to keep you updated as well as I can.
any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

I never got it.

that means 25 AE guys showing up, and half of them are just there to guarantee a spot on the AE team, if they can sandbag thru the try-out, and not get picked.

I heard alot of them are coming out just to play down, because they have to show up, but have no interest in playing up

so that knocks it down to about 14 real possibilities, maybe.

the calibre was shit last year, with the unsuspecting AA 96'ers thinking there were 95's who would lead the team.

the top 3 scoring guys were 96's.

we didnt know most of them were select or AE.

so.....maybe not, don't think the 96's will show up this time just to get hoodwinked again. They will look at team closely before deciding, not just to satisfy everyone again, taking it up the ass, while the rest of you have a fun time.... this time, we're in it together.

5:38 for the record it was the '94s that checked out. it was their Major (and last year) so it is they who should have stepped up to lead. The '95s that stayed at least were not quitters, they worked hard every game.
As for sticking my name on stuff, I don't like coming to this website and reading crap about anyone, any player, any Board member but I heard there was a forum opened about the '97 group and thought it would be a good idea to post the email there to keep the communication line open. We will NOT ever again combine a Minor and Major team to form a AA Midget team. I would rather collapse the whole thing if the Major group didn't show up and allow the Minors to look elsewhere. But I will not allow the Midget Program to collapse without a fight which is why I keep plugging along and will hopefully have all teams in place by the end of May.

Somebody needed to step up and be an asshole and it was me. Sorry if I pissed in your corn flakes and didn't keep the grand ol crew together but we did manage to keep 3 Rep teams in the Midget division. (with 2 champions) I posted a message here yesterday hoping that keeping communication open to those who are less self interested in themselves, would get some insight and information. I will not be back posting messages on this forum and I know i have probably left myself open to some other jackass coming in and saying they are MR and spew some idiotic shit. I still don't like this forum but its social media so whats a guy to do. The following should be emailed out shortly.

All, in an effort to keep you all in the loop, I have more update news.
Optimistic now that the forming of a Midget AA team will not be an issue, I have asked Lori to book ice time for tryouts for the Minor Midget AA team and the Minor Midget AE team.
I have requested a 2 hour ice time and then a 1 hour ice time for the AA team tryouts and then 2 one hour sessions for the Minor AE tryouts.
While these teams won't be rostered until the Fall, they can be selected now with signed offer of Commitment forms.
Please ensure that registration has been completed through the Hockey Canada Registration link on the miltonwinterhawks.com web site.
I will provide ice times once they are confirmed.

Just to confirm, the Milton Minor Hockey Website is a disaster.

Everyone I know, say it is very conveluted, hard to find stats, teams, information, its all over the map..... no one updates it.

That should be re-vamped , if anybody does anything ..

Alot of teams get their own team website running, as its easier than using Miltons to track schedule.

The biggest loss is number 7. The other 2 can probably be replaced without missing a beat. Like previous poster stated the strength of this team is chemistry and team play. That won't change. The team still has high caliber players that have went through the experience of winning a OMHA Championship that will help mold them into even better players next year. No doubt they will battle for top spot again.

Big dog aint that smart. Have you ever talked to the man? He actually tilts his head like a dog and goes, huh!!!! GB's son should be playing AAA. The kid will only get bigger, stronger and faster. DF is not even close to the athlete and or goalie GB is. Without GB on this team last season they don't win the OMHA's. This season will still be a good year. Come playoff time DF will not see the ice after the firt round.

GB is the best 97 goalie in town. To say the team wouldn't win OMHA proves you know nothing and probably didn't watch much. The team beat Stouffville in 6 games, GB played one great game that series. If he played well they would have won in 3. Game 6 vs Stouffville they had no shots on net in two OT periods. JR had two wins vs Belle River and should be on this team.

Sorry all, because the ice was booked late for the Minor Midgets, there was no extra ice available last week except at 10pm so i figured that was a little to late. I asked Jason last week that if we couldn't find ice to select those players he wanted for his rosters and have the others all attend the AE tryouts and continue there. I can't do it all - I need the Coaches to assist as well.

the right thing to do is have the AE kids playdown against the AA guys in minor, then a 5 game series against the major AA guys, then a combined practice all together to get the shirt sizes, then the AA minor midgets have 4 practices, one in june, one july, and 2 in september. 4 practices for AE guys, 2 in late may at canlan, then one in october, and a mini-series against the major midgets after 2 coaches quit.

OK so we agree that 12:15 is an a$$ hole. Sorry 2:51 I read your comment wrong. GB and family are great people. The kid and family always stayed grounded when playing in Brampton. Brampton was a good situation for them at the time and GB came back a better goalie. Remember, Brampton came looking for him, he was not shopped around by his parents. Milton is lucky to have him and he makes the Milton team that much better when he's here.

the Major team has not been selected yet but is not in any trouble. The Midget Coach is putting the players in some summer tournaments, some extra practice time so there is no need to worry. I am in constant contact with the Coach and I like the direction he is taking. At least there are still 20 - 23 kids in camp and competing hard unlike last year when we had 11 committed. Those that witnessed the paniced look in my face by the end of August last season should know that if I say we are good then it is.

11:47 - good luck with that. Coach has had no contact with kids since last weekend. I know of two kids who are already walking who don't feel they need to inform the coach as he does not feel it is necessary to inform them of what is going on.

So lets get this straight...LM is sick all week in bed, and because he didn't get back to you and your busy lives, the kids want to quit without giving the Coach a heads up. Communication is a two way street and you all have his email. perhaps somebody could take some leadership and say hey Coach whats up going forward and could you let us know. But i suppose its easier to just quit and then snipe.

Milton has a 97 AA
Milton has a 95/96 AA
OMHA website is a carry over from last year.
97AA will be good again. Picked up a good D, lost the girl and added 2 good forwards who helped out the AA's in call up situations.
The loss of the 3 forwards hurt our team but the new D and the girl being gone is huge.

The team has a good thing going, it's strength has been its teamwork and mostly unselfish play. You would be a fool to expect anything different this season. The team will compete for top spot again, regardless of the players that left. IMO.
