Look at it this way..... AND owns 20% of the Habs .. he paid 80 million dollars for that stake.
His kid isnt going to the OHL or anything and will inherit millions so the father recognizes that and is enjoying quality time with his family throughout the year.

Dont know the kid, have seen him play he was pretty gritty when we played Burlington...Im shocked this boy got cut..what is GH thinking...

Where did he end up

Re: Burlington Eagles 97AAA

May 4 2012, 3:31 PM

This happens every year and especially at the MM level. Most times the kids cut are better players than some of the kids that didn't get cut. It is all the parents that are in with the coaches who have a say in who they want to play with their little johnnies. It is a shame that this happens but I don't think there is or ever will be a way to stop it. Too bad for the kids that get shuffled off to the side because of arrogant, self serving parents and coaches.

Re: Burlington Eagles 97AAA

Just like DP did for his son when he had the team. Played CP forward and then on defence for every PP. CP had the most ice time of any player.....all coaches do it for their kids. What point are you trying to make? Eagles let the coaches do what ever they want. DP did the same thing for his oldest son.

Re: Burlington Eagles 97AAA

May 8 2012, 7:14 AM

Yeah, they all do it! Really sad that they coach for the main reason of having their kid play lots. They are supposed to be developing ALL the kids on the team. Typical example is the 96 Halton coach. Last year he played his son so much that it was sickening. Kid had the most points on the team (which could be for real or not) and he was not drafted. Now he is going to coach the Midget team so that his son will get to play midget AAA and get lots of ice time. Only problem is that nobody showed up at the tryouts and he has only signed about 10 kids. Word gets around!

The team is hurting anyhow as GH dropped many balls trying to pull a good team together. Letting CP go is the right thing to do as his dad did enough for Burlington hockey over the years. He was not going to be an Eagle so you might as well let him play in his MM year.

Good luck CP.

Well, actually, 1996 player DM made a huge stink years ago to get out of Burlington. Parents pretended to divorce, said they moved and many other lies. Finally, Eagles caved and gave the kid his release. Moral of the story is that if you cry hard enough, you get your own way. By the way, DM was drafted in the 6th round, not the 1st like his dad always implied he would be.

GH was told he could take two imports, but NOT a goalie. Why? Goalie parent on the board - that's the ONLY reason. Otherwise, there were good ones out there that could have been had.

What a shame regarding the goal tenders - so evident throughout the years that this has been the major problem with this team - can't expect to score 4 or more goals a game to win. They sucked at tryouts while outsiders trying out were good. Shame, shame, shame - on Eagle ornization.

You people are all crazy trying to stir something up all the time. this team has lost a lot or I could say this organization has lost a lot.

Cutting players that shouldn't be cut, giving releases to players that shouldn't be released, holding players back from progressing and putting players in levels that they don't belong for the sake of ones own agenda.

What for, power, it is all too bad because in the end the only people that are hurt are the kids. Pretty much a selfish thing to do.

I hope Burlington does well this year for the players that are there, and the players that have moved on, not the people who run it.

These kids are working really hard this summer please don't ruin it anymore and stop stirring the pot on this web site. It is pretty petty that is for sure.

Have a great rest of the summer!!! see you at the rink

Good systems in MM - trapping a lot which is a very valid tactic - will make Burlington and many other teams very competitive this season. Watch for games to be really close throughout the age group across the province. If GH uses his systems well BEs are in for a solid seasons.

Burlington 97 Eagles....

They have been crap since Novice AAA...

DP was the best Technical Coach they have ever had, Still Holds Records at Yale and Appleby College has always done well.
So he was smart and got his son out of a poor enviroment..almost as Bad as the Bantam AAA nightmare....
Poor JA, another great coach who will be ridiculed for teaching kids how to play hockey.

CP could at least play D or Fwd...

Played on the Varsity for ACollege and did well, nothing to do with His Dad... His Dad would rip him a new one any day of the week!

GH is a great Guy and a Good coach... but he is limited with what he has as far as Talent, so it is what it is....
Eagles will Be part of the Bottom 3 as usual.

Hey Dads just do what Court did..buy yoursef a Jr team so your son has a Team to play on.

AC hasnt done squat since he came back from the G.... He hasnt progressed... he was great up to Pee Wee ..but now most kids have passed him by!

Enjoy the Bottom Eagles....

Peace Out !

"DP was the best Technical Coach they have ever had, Still Holds Records at Yale and Appleby College has always done well."

What records are you referring to? I'm sure you must be referring to his player stats and not his coaching stats. As a player he was solid. Good enough to get to the NHL for 4 games, a feat you kid will never accomplish. However, if you are referring to the coaching stats at Yale, they are less than stellar. A record of 6-21-1. Ouch!!

"So he was smart and got his son out of a poor enviroment"

No. He got his son out so that he wouldn't be overshadowed by a couple of other players that are better than his own. Better chance of getting noticed in Guelph.

"CP could at least play D or Fwd."

Yepp. Dad, probably would have put him in net too, if he could have put the equipment on fast enough.

"Played on the Varsity for ACollege and did well, nothing to do with His Dad"

I'm sure that his Dad being the head coach had nothing to do with him making the Varsity team. What a moronic statement!!! I wonder how many other players have played Varsity in grade 9 at Appleby. My guess is NONE!!!

Obviously, you no nothing about this team and have seen very few games. I bet if you had kept track of number of hits last year, CP would have been in the bottom 3 or 4 (including the goalies).

There are no concerns about physical play on this team. They will be as physical as they need to be. The changes that GH has made are extremely positive. It is noticable already that there is positive vibe both on and off the ice. No stupidity on the ice during practices. A sense of comradery off the ice. They will play like a team for the first time in a long time. I believe they will surprise a few.

Don't get me wrong I think your kid deserves to be up there he made it, well fair and square.

The imports that have come in are very strong players. When all is said and done, they have improved this team. A couple of the players release were toxic, both on and off the ice. The boys coming in are just as good, if not more talented. They also don't have the negative attitude the others had. For the first time in a long time, this team will play like a team. Unfortunately, it might be a bit to late. Nonetheless, it will be a much better season.

So, how did CP do with Guelph? Is he playing forward or defence? Is he going to get noticed on the Guelph team?

CP wasn't really noticeable in either games so far. DV on the other hand, made his presence known and played a good physical game. Wish we kept him, however he will do well in Guelph.

If you know hockey you would see that CP was very noticeably. Made a lot of great plays and so did DV, it is tough when that is really your only weapons. Still early game was pretty even.

Agree - changes are positive - strengthens D and O with 2 imports and other changes. Will give the team better harmony and talent and most importantly they will enjoy their season. Not like last year.

1 import good...the other equivalent to the top AA players. Shame you choose to bash kids........loser...if you knew anything about hockey......exhibition games are opportunity to look at players, lines, etc. Both games had some good and bad plays.......again the goaltending in both games made the difference in the score.

Very encouraging results at the Toronto Titan Tournament. One win, two ties and one close 3-2 loss to top rated Kingston. Boys really playing as a team with never say die attitude. Lot of harmony, good hockey displayed. Nice to see such positive results. Beat a good Windsor team 4-1, tied two GTHL teams and hung in tough against Kingston. All boys played well.

What is wrong with parents wanting to support the kids and the coach? There is nothing to be gained by being negative. It just drags everyone down. The boys need to be supported.

Go spout your negativity somewhere else. This team is just fine.

Ask your team manager. It could be for any number of reasons. You'll probably hear a lot of conspiracy theories (especially on here), but it's most likely a legitimate reason like a team function or event, or even a reschedule from a third team conflicts with this game. The original schedule from the OMHA is just a draft anyway. Look at it on the OMHA website and because some changes have been made, you'll see teams playing 2 games on the same day & even the same hour.

Cup Of coffee.... Perhaps you had that ......if you ever went to an NHL Game...

Gord Hynes
Defense
Born Jul 22 1966 -- Montreal, PQ
Height 6.01 -- Weight 170 -- Shoots L
Selected by Boston Bruins round 6 #115 overall 1985 NHL Entry Draft

Played for Boston and Philadephia.... 52 games.... had 3 goals & 9 Assts.

How many did you have? Where did you play Jr. Or NHL or AHL or CDn National Team Or Europe???????

Last year we saw he brought out Ex Leaf / Quebec Player & Asst GM - Jeff Jackson during the SCTA Playoffs

263 Games
38 Goals
48 Assists
313 PIM

So thats more than a Cup of Coffee.... well he just sighed and said not much you can do with this group !

Face it..... Burlington Eagles are awful and a top AA Team would give them a go.....

Dont blame GH for a shit system that wont allow and Import goalie like Smith who passed through and went to Hamilton, but they take JG from Hamilton Via STA....he will really help..lol....

Have fun being a Carp at the Bottom of the Burlington Bay.....
