Stratford will have the same core back. This group got stronger as the season progressed last year and should continue to get stronger. Same coach as last years MM team. He had that group over achieving. The sky is the limit as he now has some srious talent to work with.

Re: Alliance 97 A/AA

ljk will not be as strong as some think. It may be a FC a/aa all star team but not a lot of talent evident in FC A in this age group last year. Some hard workers but few if any players with any polish.

Re: Alliance 97 A/AA

June 13 2012, 11:20 AM

Stratford should be middle of the pack, if your core stays together. You will still have to plow through KW, Waterloo, Cambridge, Sarnia, St. Thomas and the big question mark the LJK's.
Looking at last years playoffs it looked like you had a tough time getting past Oakridge (arguably one of the worst teams in FC). I would not underestimate anybody this year including and maybe especially the the kids from London FC makinf up the LJK. They also picked up some AAA kids and the best tender in the league from Strathroy.

Re: Alliance 97 A/AA

June 14 2012, 12:09 AM

The 96 Bandits proved last season that FC teams can compete at the AA level ... And compete they did by winning the League and Playoffs. At the minor Midget level the type of hockey gets tighter such that any team can win on any given night and the split happening in the playoffs WILL improve all teams during the season and all teams will adapt to playing against better teams.

An early split will only lower the level of play for the A side .... Trust me nobody thought the 96 Bandits had a chance last season.

there were only two teams in JLK. The 96 Bandits team was NOT a surprise they had 11 players in total from the JLK. No FC Team will compete now that JLK is back to 3 teams. parents get a grip

1 F strong but has to lose the attitude.

As a Cambridge parent I was at game today. What a bunch of cheap shot team you have. Keep it clean and play hockey you will be a better team then. As for #9 he's a very good player but all he does is chirp the other team every single time he's on the ice. He even skates over and chirps the bench and coaches. What a disgrace. Parents should be proud.

Re: Alliance 97 A/AA

August 26 2012, 8:14 AM

As a London parent reading the posts on the two games, it looks like all assesments for the most part seem reasonable. We do need to loose the attitude out there. The only possible reason I see for it is some of these kids have taking a physical sh.. kicking while on their FC teams at the hands of the some of the AA teams in the loop so they are feeling a little too full of themselves at this point as now they should be able to compete. It does have to change. Not making excusses for the behaviour, just what I think.
As far as number 9, his parents are reasonable people and I am sure he has been told, if the coaches have not already.
My big concern is if our tender was really that sick, what was he doing there and has anybody told the coach and the guy who looks after the water bottles? That is just irresponsible if he was still too ill to play now we can all be sick.

Stratford's 1st goalie played well. In talking to some parents, Stratford had 80% of there team playing.

Who cares about AAA either, at this point the top 4 to 5 kids on gold might/should get drafted into the O, as to whether anything becomes of it is a long shot. Not too many kids from the Knights organization making a living in the NHL or making a real living from hockey related businesses. As for the rest of gold and green, get a reality check, it will come down to how smart your kid is and his work effort in school and beyond that defines the kid into the man. Most the people I know today are difind on personality and accomplishement, not on what level of hockey they played when they were 15. Get a life and help your kids get a better life than you appear to be having.

Not so far. Although at this level I would not expect a lot of blow outs. I think the two big unknowns at this point have to be Waterloo and Sarnia. Looks like Stratford, London and Cambridge appear to be the teams' to watch. Should be a fun year for all the teams as this is the kids last fling at this level of hockey.
Does anyone know what is happening to the London FC teams, we have been told they may just play within the MD loop.

7:13 is funny. Do you actually think four months will teach your kid the skating, hockey sense, and ability to read the game? You are a dreamer. Top kids by Minor Midget have what it takes to make the next step and if they don't they don't be it spring or fall tryouts. If they didn't have the above to make bottom line of AAA stop wasting your energy and just enjoy your son playing wherever he plays!!!

September 10 2012, 8:05 PM - Really, wow, one kid growing 5 inches and gaining 20lbs of weight is of no importance over the spring/summer? Your a wack. The only reason AAA picks in the spring, is so they can meet all god damn spring and summer and never give it a rest, trying to get the competitive edge. If all the kids in high school are smoking weed, it must be a good idea. Goof. AAA is nothing that special and besides there are plenty of kids good enough to play there, just not enough spots. They don't pick 53 players per team like f**ckin football.

2:59 is stuck in the 80's, if someone is bigger and ways 20 pounds more he must be a better player. I will take the kid that has no fear regardless of his weight, great hands and hockey sense to make big turds look silly. Dennis Savard, Theo Fleury, Wayne Gretzky.....should I go on. Wayne Gretzky was a stick in his first year of junior and wasn't even the best skater of his time.

Bigger is still better. .. sure there are exceptional exceptions -- BUT --take tennis. The top 15 in the world only 2 are under 6' tall. 13 are 6' or over and of them 5 are over 6'3". Of the Anaheim Angels baseball roster ( first team I pulled up ) -- only 5 players on their 40 man roster are under 6' tall. Thats FIVE out of FORTY
Of the 30 players on the LA. Kings roster only 7 are under 6' tall. == that's SEVEN of THIRTY Bottom line.... Bigger is better!

Bigger is better if they have the skill and hockey sense. I'd take a smaller player with skill over a mobile pylon any day.

That was my point, bigger is better if they have the skill no doubt. If a kid had the skill in the spring he would make the team even if he was a few inches and pounds short of the bottom 3rd line player.

Re: Alliance 97 A/AA

September 11 2012, 11:25 PM

I've seen small kids with heart and skill and large kids with skill but no guts to go into the corners. When it came to critical situations the coach put the smaller kid on the ice because the larger kid would only go for a Sunday skate and be of no real use out there. Hockey is no longer a cement head type game but more of a finesse game where skill and speed are needed. Big kids usually get skated around because they can't transition fast enough..and I've seen that happen many a time.

Re: Alliance 97 A/AA

The only time 11:25 argument holds up is at the younger age groups or lower caliber levels. ( Of any sport ) By the time the kids get older and/or progress their way up the levels, the "pylons" have been weeded out and only decent bigger players remain. If a 5"8 kid has a skill rating of a 100 and a 6'3" player has a skill rating of 85 ( arbitrary "rating" score ) then almost every coach on the planet will choose the second player.

11:54 must be the most stupid person on this earth to make that comment. Size had nothing to do with what happened to Theo you piece of dirt. Sheldon Kennedy was just as big if not bigger than Graham James who is the scum of the earth. It was all about power and the power Graham held in the hockey circles and what he promised young kids who had no guidance from parents who were probably hatched from the same shit egg you came from.

"London didn't want to play Hamilton and canceled their game why? Chicken shits didn't want to lose"

More like we didn't want to waste our time.
Hamilton in their tourney this weekend.
Vaughan Panthers 2 Hamilton Huskies 7 -Panthers ranked 88th last year and they actually scored 2 goals. Should have been a shutout.

Duffield Devils 0 Hamilton Huskies 2 - Duffield ranked 78th and the best you can score is 2 goals.

Hamilton Huskies 0 Rideau St. Lawrence Kings 2 Rideau ranked 27th last year. You lost to a 27th ranked team.
Hamilton Huskies 1 Ottawa Valley Silver Seven 4 - Ottawa ranked 50th. You lost to a team ranked 50th.
So the best you could do was to beat a 78th ranked team. Tells me your team sucks this year and anyone ranked higher than 50th you can't score on. Glad we didn't pay for the gas to waste our time.

London has a few former AAA kids who were "displaced" due to the AAA Green fiasco. Also, according to their roster, 3 out of towners with some higher end hockey experience. They should be good with that mix.

Re: Alliance 97 A/AA

Get over yourselves London. You are big slow and dirty. All you have to do is hit them and it will be a parade to the penalty box as every time one of there so called big tough kids get hit they have to give you a cheap shot back. They can't take it. A bunch of puxxies. As for keeping your head up you might want to keep that in mind in how you play because what goes around comes around and you might end up with kids getting hurt for there dirty play.

Classless post.

We played the LJK team and both players & coaches showed class. 1 kid had some attitude but sat in box most of the game. League looks like it will be decent, should be good season for all. Enjoy.

To the ljk parent. The previous post is true your team is dirty. As for classless comment? I guess you didn't see your former aaa gold player giving another team the finger or taunting the other teams bench. Like you said keep your heads up what goes around comes around. Hope it's not your little Johnny that pays the price.

London could barely beat Cambridge when they had alot of MD kids still trying out and Stratford was only top of the
A loop.
Waterloo was the team to beat lastyear and they didnt even make the finals..

1:14 you are so right. London d is a farce once you get past those two. Big slow and don't understand the position. For them to be anything beyond a mid pack team they either must find a way to score lots of goals or their tenders better have their best game every game. My guess they are screwed.
