5) Kingston - Lot's of complaining

oshawa will be there again they still have a good base of kids only 3 D and one forward went up and 1 goalie |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: OMHA 97A Lakeshore League 2012/2013 | May 15 2012, 2:33 PM |
to add to 2:16 PM, not only will Oshawa be there, but their forwards will be stronger (except for 1). The defense will be close to the same.
Overall Oshawa will actually be stronger than last year. It's a net increase in team speed, game sense, and fewer puck hogs (they were cut or went to AA).
The major hurdles will be inheriting the attitudes - players who drop down a level always think they're going to walk through everyone for the first month, until they get humbled.
Oshawa will get stronger as the season progresses, if the former AA parents let the coach do his job....but there's a reason why some of them are no longer AA parents. |

Maybe, but last year;s team did not get beat up and pushed around by Port Perry in tryout exhibition or pre-season and this year was embarassed by Port Perry 5-0. |

|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: OMHA 97A Lakeshore League 2012/2013 | May 24 2012, 11:02 AM |
Then you haven't watched too much house league hockey
A hockey is faster than HL, and slower than AAA...just as it should be.
What do you gain by pointing out to the kids that play anything lower than AAA, that they're not good enough to play AAA ?
Get over yourself.
Post your kid's draft offer, otherwise STFU. |

|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: OMHA 97A Lakeshore League 2012/2013 | May 24 2012, 4:33 PM |
Cobourg doesn't have tryouts or practice until August. 2 kids are coming back from AAA, 1 left for AAA. Since they only have 16 kids at tryouts anyway, should be the same as other years with 1 significant addition on forward. Will be pretty strong, maybe will get over the top this year.
Do the rest of you guys practice all summer or take a break after tryouts? |
|

Some Teams have made improvements [Port Perry gets back their NRP's] [Uxbridge picked up some new blood from a very solid AE Team] & some Teams may have slipped [Kingston & Oshawa both lost players to AA but are rumored to have picked up comparable replacements]
We haven't heard anything about the Cobourg Squad were there any changes to this Team since last season? |

Whitby lost top goalie, top D and 3 of top 5 forwards. Long year ahead. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: OMHA 97A Lakeshore League 2012/2013 | August 4 2012, 9:31 PM |
Usually when the A Team loses players they get players back that were on AA the year before. As a result the impact is usually marginal. We also have the scenario where the AA Team makes mistakes and cuts the wrong players. You just never know until the season begins |

Anonymous (no login) | Re: OMHA 97A Lakeshore League 2012/2013 | August 4 2012, 9:47 PM |
Seriously though whats with everyones predictions there complete bull shit Kingston should not be in top 5 if there team is anything like last year. Port, a team that just barely made it into the playoffs beat them in the first round. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: OMHA 97A Lakeshore League 2012/2013 | August 4 2012, 9:56 PM |
for a variety of reasons Oshawa has 2 new Goalies 4 new D and 2 new Fwds. Potential is definitely there to be better than last season |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: OMHA 97A Lakeshore League 2012/2013 | August 4 2012, 10:25 PM |
Kingston's problem was the coaching staff, they didn't teach anything.
We are very happy to have a new staff this year. Team should be better this year. |

I agree with 10:25 Kingston was better earlier in the season. They started out beating us badly then by the end of the year they were beatable. By the end of the year they had one player and one goalie that really wanted to beat us the rest seemed to just go through the motions. What is with the short coaches shaking hands after every game? |

Oshawa A Team is weaker than last year, they will finsh 4th or 5th. Their Fowards,Defense and Goalies are weaker. They still have some talent but it is going to depend how the other teams are doing. Last Years Team scored lots of goal's which kept them out of trouble. They will need to do the same this even more. |
|

Not sure where you got your info ?
Oshawa will have roughly the same caliber of goal tending, be better up front but perhaps a little weaker on the back end. But even that open to debate. They should still be near the top of the pack. A lot will depend on how other Teams transitioned during the offseason. Cobourg & Whitby will challenge for top spot, Look for the biggest Improvements to come from PP & UX .
Cobourg is looking for Ex games if anyone is interested |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: OMHA 97A Lakeshore League 2012/2013 | August 24 2012, 9:33 AM |
Like I said for Oshawa to be better than last year they are going to have to put the puck in the net. Last year Oshawa scored 121 goals in 29 games (average of 4.17 per game) in secound was Cobourg scored 84. The new players on the team do not look like Goal scorers but should be able to play at A. As for the Goalies they need to build their confidantes. They have had a bad couple of years. Dropping down they might have fun again. Defense are slow and no one has a shot from the point or can rush the puck. I hope they worked on that over the summer and do well this year. Go Oshawa Go |

Think we can put "3)Oshawa - lost too much to AA" to bed, replace with:
1)Oshawa - too many A on AA |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: OMHA 97A Lakeshore League 2012/2013 | October 26 2012, 12:51 PM |
Well Oshawa AA are first in their division and are ranked #3. They have only lost one game so far this year. They also won a Tournament. Where did the AA finish last year ? Did they even win anything ? Maybe both Teams will get to face each other in the Pickering Tournament next weekend. I think it is great that both Teams are doing well because their is not many Oshawa Teams doing that well. Go 97's |
|

by the way, we finished the tourny ahead of you...so go work on something, play hockey instead of "Slapshot", and ya might go somewhere

Ok time to reassess
1 Oshawa still dominant, but lost to middling Humberview in SMS
2 Cobourg could beat any team, but inconsistent
3 Kingston big ss win, them is coming on
4 port perry has its moments, in tough to beat top 3 in a series if goonery gets going
5 whitby a real wild card, should have been better this yr
6 Lindsay (could still be Ajax) probably not strong enough consistently to go far.
7 Ajax needs goalie to steal games
8 uxbridge probably not looking forward to round 1
Oshawa-uxbridge Oshawa in 3
Cobourg-Ajax (possibly Lindsay, unlikely) Cobourg in 4, although Ajax seems to give them fits
Kingston-Lindsay Kingston in 4, Kingston has good speed, enough to out score Lindsay
Port Perry-Whitby could be intense. I would pick Whitby to win, especially if penalties get going (whitby refs can be homers)
Second round
Oshawa over whitby in 4
Cobourg over Kingston in 4
Any other ideas? |

Cobourg - Ajax, Cobourg in 3
Kingston - Lindsay, Kingston in 4
Port Perry - Whitby, Port Perry in 4
Oshawa - Port Perry, Port Perry in 4
Cobourg - Kingston, Cobourg in 3
Cobourg - Port Perry, Port Perry in 5
Food for thought |

it would take a mighty effort for anyone to beat Oshawa in a best of 5. Cobourg probably has best chance, but they haven't shown well against in their games against Oshawa so far, one goal for, 8 against. i don't think Port has the horses to do it. i guess that's why the games are played though. |

What is that about Cobourg playing teams 7 and 9? Is that because Lindsay was forced to stay up and Quinte complained? Sounds like a fubar to me. Way to go OMHA. Why not make 8 and 9 play a one game wild card? Nothing like making rules up as they go. |
