Team is set - looking great. Another year where we take it all. No matter where you came from before it is the Marlie stamp that leads to success. Best players in the GTHL.

Marlie's will be just fine, it's ok when you are the best it is easy for everyone else to have a hate on for you.

Nope. The blue line is decidedly weaker. This team (while still very good) will not be as good as last years version.

The arrogant attitude on this team has fostered complacency over the years. Others have been working hard to compete have developed the work ethic that will take them well beyond the Marlies players.

"10 players drafted in top 4 rounds every year from the Minor Midget team"
And of these extraordinary 10 how many actually get ice time in the OHL. Maybe 1 each year so it's not as great an accomplishment as you portay it to be. The Marlies are overdrafted every year and it shows by how many actually get ice time in the O.

Slipping. Win when it counts. Just another OHF Championship yawn ! Usually a team is judged on a full season. Rebels and Marlies improved throughout the year. VK blew up, and OMHA teams failed to live up to expectations, K-Town and Oakville.

Hmmmm let's think about this Cappy brainwashed comment.

He got the most ice time on the team. And he leaves to go to Oakville. My spidey senses tell me he's had enough of WG and his kid and LS and his kid. Cappy wants to play for a team with NO ties. You play because of your play. Not because your the coaches kid. Cappy will do just fine in Oakville and is now out of the BS in Marlieland. Seven years for WG! Will he even coach again after junior is done?

A very big and different year coming up. Those who have relied purely on talent in the past will be passed by those with a better work ethic. Marlies bleed complacency. Other teams and players will step up in MM. I can't wait for September.

Marlies are still strong, but peaked at minor bantam. Some of the good kids and families that were cut years back have now developed under other coaches will prove to be a thorn in WGs side. Unfortunately, it's always been easier for them to dispose of kids in favour of the kid who looks good at that moment.

Kudos to the coaches at all levels who have the where with all to see potential, and have the patience to develop kids.

The Marlies talent has always been better, however this year Marlies will not be the best, which refers to 11:05 post made today. There are teams off the radar in Ontario who will fair higher in final standings than what we've seen in past years.

How can you say anything negative about an organization that keeps producing winnig teams? Ok, so last year the 97's under achieved in tournaments, but who took the GTHL championship? This year's version at a glance appears to be somewhat less stacked than previous years with some shall we say questionable additions that in this poster's humble opinion have not replaced the ones that opted out. But we'll know soon enough.....

Marlies recruit from all over the province to make up for their lack in coaching.
95's and 96's a monkey coulda coached those teams....oh I forgot one did
97's will have their struggles but the team to watch is the 98's PC has that team finely tuned

You're wrong. Once real hockey started after Peewee for the 96 group, the previous Marlies coach shit the bed. Kept recruiting but results annually got worse and worse until he (DE) was replaced by KS.

Takes a good coach to ensure all the ego's of players and parents can be meshed into winning formula. Not to mention telling agents with selfish interests to screw off.

You know f all.

WG has people geting players for him. a couple mistakes last year from LS screwed things but they wwere corrected. MS will carry team again as only real high end prospect left in 97.

They have produced squat. The kids are very talented to begin with, and they are usually well groomed before they get to the Marlies. They are always looking for the "better" player to add to their roster. If they were about development, they wouldn't drop the talent that they already had so easily. Like most other years, they manage to recruit the best talent by MM.

Another glaring example of rules being blatently broken without punishment. How could he skate without a release? WG's a teacher for crying out loud! I'm pretty sure he's smart enough to know about the rule that is in place prohibiting an import from skating without the proper paperwork.

Past players/parents have made the "move" seamless. This TM team didn't help or show MM how to get out or "move" or get "divorced" properly or in a timely fashion let's just say. For that reason and that reason alone MM will not play for TM this year. It will be HH for him or AA or high school hockey. That's it. Too bad...if you would of gotten divorced or moved few months earlier you woukdve been out by now with no fanfare at all....dumb dumb "move" ..pun intended...wink.gif

Watched some of TM vs Brampton...they were lucky to win this on a penalty shot. G teams definately weaker than OMHA teams.

Lay off the Marlies.

Good hockey, against some good teams.

The gap has closed in all leagues, as any top team in all of the AAA leagues have a chance to win at any time this season.

YSE (ETA) Whitby. Kingston

Oakville (SCTA) Southern Tier Hamilton

Marlies (GTHL) JRC

Elgin (Alliance) London Gold
