I coached my first son but am nothing more than a parent now for my younger boy, if I had to do it over again, I would recruit parents instead of players. Take all the good parents, fuck the the rest and deal with the talent level you have on the ice. A formula for sanity. How would you like to be a teacher today, as soon as you give Johnny a C, mom calls you to complain. What a fucked-up generation of whiners our parents raised. Kid passes the puck to the front of the net, gets intercepted and the other team scores. You sit the kid one shift to make sure he learns his lesson and the parents call you after the game to discuss how missing one shift has the kid saying he never wants to play hockey ever again. And the parents support him too. PARENTS - WE ARE ALL SICK!

Hey go back under your rocks and chill out until summer is over. Should be a good season a head for 96 AA West. Surprise team MJ but ST should be right at the top again. Another possible surprise will be WML.

BIG problem with the Tigers this season is JG brother is joining the coaching staff and wants a cut of the $. Tension already between him and the hockey school coach who knows shit but charges big dollars. Stay tuned

ST lost some players, got new players back – don't count your chicks before the eggs have hatched. Sure, they had good chemistry last season, however, next season remains to be seen.
Case in point – look at the MNS last season. With the talent they had, they should've at least made the playoffs, but lack of chemistry (and bad coaching) destroyed that team.
Let's all wait until at least the early bird before crowning the 2012-13 96AA champions.

Not all were happy at ST, despite the success. That's why lots left. ST won because it had the most talent in a watered down league. Big whoop.

2:51 PM you may be right. There may be others, but the two surprise teams to watch: MJ and WML. MJ picked up some very good players to add to what was becoming a very solid team at the end of last season. WML has upgraded their goaltending and picked up some ex-warriors, but the difference will be in their coaching. DB's past experience as a AAA coach will show on this team. The BIG question mark with the WML: can these kids adapt to the intense AAA coaching or will they fold like a scorched leaf?

Haven't heard a thing about the Vaughn teams. Of the two, however, I predict the panthers will be the better team. The Braves picked up some decent and some not decent players. Could be a very good team except for the new coach – God bless them!
The team that intrigues me the most is MT. Good coach, and they picked up decent players too. I don't think they lost any of their key players.

However, none of it matters until the teams start to play each other in September.

There's lots of time for the AAA boys to come back. Pretty sure no AAA teams can carry 40 players.

Way to early to make predictions the early bird tournaments will give us a good idea of what we should expect. ST will be solid you can make all the claims you want but they have done nothing but improve every year. I really like the MJ they were able to grab a few surprises especially in net. There will be some very good players coming back once they realise the bull shit of AAA. Lot of boys who like to play HS hockey will stay AA and play HS as well.

My kid is not on the WM team, but what pisses me off is the fact you say " I don;t want to speak poorly of the players". Well, buddy you ARE speaking poorly of those players and any other player who played on the weaker teams.

Has it occurred to you that perhaps some of the kids on weaker teams are skilled players who did not benefit from having good coaching or other skilled players to play with? Untapped talent can be found anywhere if you look hard enough, and usually good coaches will find those uncut gems. Good for the WM coach and any other coach out there who saw something about these players and decided to take a risk in recruiting them.

As for the one person who keeps carrying the WML flag and reminding us of how well that team will do, we get it, you are excited. Problem for you is, we just don't fucking care. But keep banging that drum buddy, if it keeps your hands on a keyboard and off your dick, it's all good. For the other 6 people that have been writing on here over the past 2 months, no one is watching really. and you keep bringing up the same teams and remain clueless on about 5 other teams in the division. You are all old-timers, your kids have been in this division for 5 years, your brains are accustomed to seeing and talking about the same names. The world you knew, the landscape you had become so accustomed too, it's all gone. MNS, MB, Sharks, to name a few teams ... it's all over. The division will be tight next season, no one will run away with it, even the bottom feeders will have their share of wins. Because all it takes is for your weakest player to give up the puck in his own end and you lose a game with a minute left. Every team in this division has not just one but a couple of players that should not be on a AA sheet of ice and they will have a big impact on the standings in this division. So while you are busy trying to figure out who acquired the most talent, look at the back end of the teams to see who has the greatest liabilities. Smart coaches will play their best players against those liabilities and steal games in that way.

People need help in all sorts of ways. The One-Man-Tigers-Basher above who makes his daily appearance with thoughtful Tiger topics is obvioulsy sending out a public cry for help. As in "help, I'm bored and can't come up with anything else to do other than bash the Tigers" on this website. It then falls to us, the educated reader to assist this person with ideas on what to do with idle hands. Consider this our chance to play Dr.Phil for the day and help jump start this guy's creativity nodes in his brain.

1) if at home, watch the Deja Vu network for reruns of The Flying Nun and The Mary Tyler Moore Show
2) if at the cottage or trailer park, enguage the neighbours in discussion of how foreigners are taking over jobs meant for white people
3) if at the office, stroll through the cubicle's and look for those with pictures of their kids in hockey gear. Then start your own monologue where you talk about your son's prowess on the ice while others pretend to care. Make sure to tell your colleagues how the Ref's were responsable for most of the teams losses last season.
4) And finally, if you are at home and the kids and wife are away, turn on the computer and visit www.xhamster.com. There are various topics of interest, one of which will surely grasp your attention. Tiger-Basher above should strongly consider the Old Man section, filled with videos of geriatric sex that will titilate as well as stimulate your cerebral cortex.

Try some of the above, you will find yourself drifting away from thoughts of the Streetsville Tigers, your quality of life will improve and your wife may actually let you back into the shared bed for some much needed spooning. Ice Warriors will go from finishing second overall to missing the playoffs altogether. Coach and the remnants of his Port Credit team must go.

Finished pretty high for first year in AA and absolutely stood up EC and MJ who had their first years also

No word on HH because that's the way that coach likes it, always fly's low under the radar. HH is a guaranteed playoff team, improved on last year's team at tryouts and the core that stayed together will be that much more effective. My son has a good friend on that team, I have some insight and I saw them kick our ass last year. Hard working team with talent, won't finish first but not a team to be taken lightly.

Huskies have taken a step backwards. Their most skilled players got the hell out of dodge at the end of the season.

MNS are a complete shambles. No speed, no scoring, no goal tending, no coaching.

Wolverines are a very weak a team at best, cuz that's where they got many of their players from.

ST will still be a very good team, but many of those that JG recruited through many promises and much bs, have left.

MT will probably be one of the top teams. They didn't lose much, but added some strength.

MB will finish a bit higher than last year. One wacko coach replacing another wacko coach. They've added some strength via the ST.

Ice Warriors will still be in the top 5 but with the loss of some former MB, they will be weaker.

VR and VP. Who really cares about these teams since no one toots their own horn as much as they do. They jiggle and juggle players every year and sometimes even get a small taste of playoff victory, but at best, they will always be the brides maids.

Also, what's with all the former MB that left the MB after Bantam? For many years they're on the same high level MB, then they leave and continue to scatter after each year. Typical robotic system players. High skill, but can't play without a strict system and disciplined coach. These players will continue to falter because they can't think on their own.

You mean the legendary Braves that won championships year after year? Those who didnt go AAA moved around AA looking for a home similar to the one that they had with the MB for many years... Too bad the 96 age group hasnt seen a team anything like that since.

And they won't. No time as everyone is now an opportunist or a mercenary during their last years in minor hockey. Also, very important, coaching is also very opportunist and mercenary. coaches want to recruit a kid and have immediate pay off. No time or inclination to even try to develop anyone. No time, as the 96 years are almost done.

Didn't the Braves lose their best players, a top forward went AAA and they lost their 2 top defencemen. This is a program where the coach has promised to cut back on the number of practices over the season, parents walked out of the team meeting last season when that tid bit was announced. Volatile coach, volatile parents and an interesting mix of characters in that dressing room. They added an influential member of the MNS coaching staff to the bench to add fuel to this camp fire. Tell us again how in the world this 5th place team has improved???

Can anyone tell us why a 16 year old boy and his parents want to play for a team like us the Wolverines in the last year of their hockey career. It's going to be a lousy year and maybe 2 wins all year.

You Wolverine parents are short several bricks in the head. Your highlight will be when our team scores maybe one goal every 3 games. I just do not see any who can score or defend. Goaltenders should be in white. This team needs a miracle to win a game this season. Coach set your team goals low

The 15 gf will all come against the Canucks. Coach will need to revamp that to 3 goal against non playoff teams and 1 goal against a playoff team

Can't figure out why the sharks would fold. That organization hasn't done that badly over the years.

People don't leave organizations, they move away from coaches. Do your homework on the wingnut who coached the team and you will see why the club had to fold. And before you tell me to go screw myself, this is info I got from a few parents who left the team before the tryouts. Just repeating what I heard, don't shoot the errand boy.

Do not pay the $6 to watch any Wol or Can games

I see, so it's beat up on the struggling teams day, I must have missed that memo. We get it, they will have a difficult season, would you have preffered it to be the Royals or Toros. Too many teams in this loop, somebody has to be the sacrificial lamb. This year it will be Canucks and Wolverines. No need to make them feel worse than they already do. And no I would not want to pay $6, but what do I do when my son's team plays them, ask the old lady at the ticket desk for an exemption because of the bad hockey I am about to see?

So many, if fact too many of the bottom 6 teams are loaded with recently acquired A players. Not to miss the fact that many of bottom 6 teams' AA players could easily fit in with most A teams, GTHL and MHL. That shows what has happened to 96 AA hockey. In Peewee and M Bantam, it was really only the bottom 4 teams that were weak. Now, except for the top 4, the calibre has dropped considerably. Agreed that many good players have either gone AAA or quit hockey, but should many of these teams even be allowed to ice such weak teams? Only money, greed and egos decides that.

How many A players do you know that are now signed with AA teams? Where did they come from and where are they playing?

Hey, ask your son at dinner tonight, if he would like to play in a 4 team league. If the answer is no, move on.

Sounds to me that the Wolveines coach has a few problem parents to deal with this year. Most times you can tell who they are by asking or checking if they are current or x coachs looking to take over or want to flex their ego

You don't have to be an AF hater to criticize the Wolverines. have you seen their team play? No offense to the boys as they go where their dads direct them, but if AF couldn't ice a have decent AA team he should have just folded up. There is not a solid AA player on that team. A mediocre A team would thrash them.

Only reason these boys are playing on the Wolverines is because the players from last year either quit or moved to onther team and spots opened up and coach desperately need to fill them. These boys would not be playing if not for the others. Should have moved down to red or stay where you were in A

I don't think the English language was created so that we could take those words that make up the Language, and use it to justify insane actions. Use it to explain poor decisions. Learning experience? Fun? These Three words alone have been so overused on this site to explain poor play, poor coaching, poorly managed teams and clubs. We need to take ownership of our actions and stop putting a happy face on what is clearly a bad situation. Admit why you would put your son on a bad rep team in general. It would make for a more logical discussion when talking about "I put my house league son into AA so that the higher level of play will be an eye opener for him, so that it forces him to work harder, and so forth". Others will chime in with their rebuttal to that and it creates a topic of discussion. But when you use the words "fun" and "learning experience", it just makes you look silly.

Did the Wolverine parents do their homework before allowing their son join this team. These guys will not win a game all season and maybe if lucky will score 10 all year. Toros allowed over 200 goals against and they were a far better team than this version of the TW. I predict we set a GTHL record for goals allowed and we set a more embarrassing record of no flood games after 2nd period. This team should fold now and allow the boys to find a new team back in A or red

Wait till the game between the EC and TV happens. Most teams will use the games the TW as practice and always use their 2nd goaltender

No, those teams will allow the Goalies to play up and put the star centerman in goal for the night

What is also going to be tough is that these Wolverine boys are 16 turning 17 during the season and their home games are on Friday nights. After a tough week at school I would assume they will want to go to a party or hang out with their girlfriends and not play hockey knowing its going to be a blow out. Also same thing with the parents after a hard week at work. This team is set up for disaster

Reality is beginning to set in for us TW parents. Long long season ahead. We have 3 kids who cannot shot the puck and 99% of them cannot take or receive a pass.

I hope the 1% can score at least 8 goals a game.

Ask any TW parent where their boy plays and they are already hesitant to tell anyone Wait till your first few games are done. They will be dropping their son off and not even going into the rink. They will be trying to save on the $6 or any money they can They also be the ones with the paper bags over their heads.
