Thomas says he is taking a year off but they may try and make a trade for Luongo. His contract is the issue. They could also take a run at Bernier. Having said that, if the 2 95's come back, they will be ok and a trade will not be needed. |

is there any of the coaches from the minor midget team interested? |
|
anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 Whitby | August 4 2012, 9:01 PM |
We do not need any parent coaches leave the politics out of it and pick the best kids to be on this team |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 Whitby | August 6 2012, 11:02 AM |
What a dumb post. You say the best kid for the job then you mention the candidate must be a none parent. The coaching job goes to the best candidate. Parent or non parent shouldn't really matter. |
|
anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 Whitby | August 7 2012, 12:44 PM |
Parent coaches pick all their buddys kids which most time means they should not be on team |
|

No, just going by the stats of the two coaches. Do you think it was a coincidence? |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 Whitby | August 7 2012, 2:57 PM |
To small a sample size and not enough information to make conclusions.
Rosters the same? Like players have similiar seasons stats wise?
Opposition the same? Get the picture? |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 Whitby | August 7 2012, 3:02 PM |
Sounds like excuses to me. Coaches never pick the same teams. Ask anyone who was involved. Just because its a non parent doesnt make it right just like all parent coaches are not perfect.. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 Whitby | August 7 2012, 3:03 PM |
So you've just come to the conclusion that there is no conclusion....bravo! |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 Whitby | August 8 2012, 8:58 AM |
parents more committed to team. fact.
havent seen non-parent coach more committed. ever.
risk about how their player is handled. sure.
many times, parent coaches are replaced by non-parent(usually in B or MM). other parents think its a great idea. then they see the true colours (usually by thanksgiving)
Have to agree with the yse poster. They had a very disappointing MM year based on how they had done every other year. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 Whitby | August 8 2012, 2:44 PM |
Saw them play last season and they had fallen off a lot. Heard many parents moaning as well.
|
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 Whitby | August 9 2012, 8:15 AM |
YSE didnt give coach another opportunity to coach after the MM year....that should say enough about this non-parent coach. |

|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 Whitby | August 12 2012, 8:46 PM |
All rumors so far, no facts. If BT has the team than I'm ok with that. He runs his own show and will put together a good supporting cast as he has always done in the past. We have been very happy with him in past years. If he does have the team it would be in his best interest to involve some 95 coaches and possibly some 96 coaches. |

Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 Whitby | August 13 2012, 11:21 AM |
Good response. Our kids are 16/17 years old now so lets grow up. Send them to tryouts and see what happens. This will be a tough team to make for most kids so lets stop making excuses for why our kids won't make this team. Two OMHA champion teams so it tells you that the top kids out of whoever is returning have a good shot. Then you add imports to the picture. It will be tough for even some good AAA players. |
|

Hey 8:00am
Years and years of people like you in this age group has made me happy my son has quit hockey this year to work on his education. He wouldnt have made AAA and probably would have been in the lower AA players. Its so immature and cowardly to insult people from behind a keyboard. Wish i knew who you were so I could make sure I never waste another minute of my life communicating with you. Enjoy your season to the rest of the honest people with integrity wherever your son ends up. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 Whitby | August 13 2012, 2:45 PM |

|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 Whitby | August 13 2012, 3:02 PM |
Maybe I should have said to devote more time to school to improve his marks which arent bad to begin with...Sad I need to explain that to you. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 Whitby | August 13 2012, 3:06 PM |
Who cares what everyone is doing with there kids. That is completely your business. What gets me is the people that get on here and complain and make excuses about why there kid didn't make the team.
It must be the "politics", the coaches, the coaches buddies, the executive, everyone is out to get me, there is a secret plot to destroy my son.
This is a rarity people, sometimes we just are not good enough. It happens to us all, that is when you parent your son through it.
We all complain about coaches (myself included) and some parents take it to wacky extremes BUT a good majority care about our kids and are quality hockey people. They don't get any compensation for there hours and we still light them up. I know I would never step up and put myself in there shoes for any position on the bench due to the pressure to perform and the parents. |
|

Anyone know how LG, from the team is doing. He injured his wrist late last year. Im sure at least 6 to 8 of the kids who played on the mm team last year will be a part of this years team. CC and BM will be gone for sure. EC will get a fair shot with his OHL team. 'think he would be playing tier 2, but it would be nice to see him playing midget.

Late 96's will have step up come nhl draft. These kids competed with older-usually bigger faster kids for many years. All the best to them.
I'm not sure that they will have much of a problem competing with the 97's come nhl draft time. |

Based on what was in the whitby paper, it doesn't matter how many 95's or 96's that attend the Fury camp, there are few spots if any. They undoubtedly wait for OHL cuts to complete the roster. Looks very good for Midget team. |

Parent coaches generally have more committment to the team; sure they want their kid to do well and progress, but along with that, everyone gets more time for puck on stick. Watch what you wish for!! Great non-paid non-parent coaches are very few in numbers! |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 Whitby | August 22 2012, 2:17 PM |
Disagree totally, parent coaches are there for there own kids in most cases especially when there kids are lower tier players on a team. |

Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 Whitby | August 22 2012, 5:43 PM |
One of the biggest complaints about last years 96 AAA coach was a lack of commitment. Non-parent coach. Without coaches, either parent or non-parent, our kids wouldn't have the chance to play. Just hope that your coach is a good one whether he's a parent or not. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 Whitby | August 22 2012, 7:37 PM |
Same happened at YSE. Team struggled on the ice. Too few practices...Too little instruction....More concerned on how he looked in the eyes of the Scouts. Too Bad for that team. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 Whitby | August 22 2012, 9:03 PM |
YSE had 11 players drafted. Coach did a real poor job indeed. A good coach is a good coach and it has nothing to do with whether or not he has a kid on the team. BT is fine. Just get ready to play a system which will be something completely foreign to most 96 players. |
|

Let's talk numbers. How many drafted 96's will be back and how many 95's should be back? 3 imports spots plus any 95AA kids being considered? If 6 of 8 96's drafted come back plus maybe a few kids, that's a nucleus. add returning 95's including goalies, add the 3 imports which will probably 95's looking to AP with the Fury and the team should be in good shape. |

He is better than everyone out there, I can't believe it. The coach is only letting his friends kids make the team, another conspiracy. Same shit every year from some of you loser parents and don't think we don't know who you are. You might as well wear bright colours at tryouts cause that's how much you and your boy stick out. |

|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 Whitby | August 24 2012, 8:01 AM |
Exactly. It is all about the kids in any case. Players loved the 96 coaching staff and by the way, they were OMHA champs. Case closed. |

As proven in past, all non and non parent coaches were in it for themselves! The team was coached to lose and didn't play the best players that they had. They were doomed from beginning and didn't help that LC was somehow pulling strings for her mediocre player and even worse, boyfriends son! Sad times for theese boys! We All know who is gonna hack it and not! Whitby Minor should have kept tighter reins and played the actual good kids!!!! |

No exclusions tonight; everyone skates? Best case will be just enough players for 4 teams so 60 skaters and 8 goalies on the ice. Realistically 70 skaters and 10-12 goalies-that is dangerously crowded.

You have no clue 12:42, a player must be an impact OHL calibre player to have a career in Europe. There are rare exceptions but to think any of these players could make money in Europe is foolish-its far easier to make the O than to play pro in Europe. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 Whitby | September 6 2012, 12:04 PM |

Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 Whitby | September 6 2012, 1:14 PM |
12:04, some Junior and some NCAA-mostly elite players do play in Europe. That is not any kid on ice at AAA tryouts! Look it up, there are exceptions but most Canadians playing in Europe were drafted to the NHL.
JH was drafted #1 from Whitby to the O a few years back, concussion issues affected his NHL draft and he went to Europe.
Players not drafted to the O are not going to play in Europe for a ton of money as 12:42 posted.
|
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 Whitby | September 6 2012, 1:17 PM |
Josh Anderson was not drafted to the O, but did get drafted from London to the NHL this past June. Where does he stand smart guy?

Same with Cory Conacher! Never drafted into the OHL, but this past season named Rookie-of-the-year in the AHL with the champion Norfolk Admirals after a stellar NCAA career.
You telling me this speedster couldn't play in Europe?
Fucking dumbass! |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 Whitby | September 6 2012, 1:31 PM |
....or how about Mark Jankowski who was a first round pick of the Calgary Flames also this past June, going to Providence now....couldn't eventually play in Europe? Never drafted into the O!
Claude Giroux also never drafted into the O, he's pretty good. LOL |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 Whitby | September 6 2012, 1:39 PM |
google exceptions....new words are tricky.
So you agree (are) the poster that said all the players at tryouts can make a ton of money in Europe?
Look at last season's rosters, how many of the Canadian's in Europe weren't drafted to the NHL?...let alone the O etc? It is highly unlikely 1 of the kids skating at tryouts will ever be paid to play hockey; that is reality.
|
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 Whitby | September 6 2012, 1:51 PM |
Look at the last 10 years' OHL draft picks and you will also realize most (the VAST majority) will also never earn a dime playing this game.

|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 Whitby | September 7 2012, 11:03 AM |
7:35 has an opinion that is based in logic which I think is simply the fact that all the better players have gone
to play Junior of some kind leaving holes open that are filled by AA A and in some cases AE players.
Not say anything is wrong with this however saying that it is equal to Junior A B C D is incorrect because it
simply is not JUNIOR hockey it is MIDGET hockey. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 Whitby | September 7 2012, 11:12 AM |
You are missing a couple key points on your conclusion although you do have some valid points. Junior C is the true dead end for players above the midget age. Most players can not play at the next level but are stuck at jr c. Hockey is not bad but goony due to all the older kids that really don't give shit anymore. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 Whitby | September 7 2012, 11:16 AM |
Agree but the same could be said for all levels of junior hockey with older players |

|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 Whitby | September 7 2012, 3:10 PM |
someone comes up with a plausable explanation and you turn the conversation into justifying lower level junior hockey?
let me ask you this
on your midget team roster how many ohl draft picks or ex junior at any level players are there?
now how many players did not play AAA last year? |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 Whitby | September 9 2012, 11:22 AM |
OHL draft picks would be 4-5. Ex jr players would be zero, which is obvious due to age. AA players from last year, maybe a couple.
On a jr C team you can ask the exact same questions. The fact is both levels are great hockey. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 Whitby | September 9 2012, 12:55 PM |
'great' hockey is a stretch. Junior A can be great hockey. Junior B and Midget AAA is good hockey and Junior C is average at best. The reality is that there isn't a single kid that is playing on the Midget AAA team or Junior B or C, that will get a sniff at a paycheck from hockey. There are some that will get a great education out of it, which is a huge accomplishment. Hopefully all, regardless of level, are going to enjoy their season of hockey and come out, loving the game. |

11:08, Not even a remote chance that GY's son gets picked at AA. If KS picks him it's a travesty and he knows it. GY's son will play at A with GY's buddy as head coach. |

KS will need to switch to a hard hat if he selects GY's kid! |

Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 Whitby | September 11 2012, 3:23 PM |
The AA team looks solid. The returning AA's plus the 96AAA kids that were not selected and the former Whitby player looked really good out there. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 Whitby | September 11 2012, 4:21 PM |
Actually, team looks weak. Returning 95's aren't very good, AAA's that dropped down looked very average. Returning D are very weak and nobody from A to really make the D better. One of the few bright spots was the returning whitby kid but the team also lost a very good forward from last years team so he basically replaces him. Don't expect any player to move up from A and make a significant impact.
The only saving grace is that most organizations out there are probably going through the same thing at Midget AA. |

Which forward from last years team and where did he go? |

The AAA team signed 9 and 6? It's midget hockey, you need bodies. Is EC one of the 9 or is he with the fury. LG return from injury yet? |

Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 Whitby | September 11 2012, 7:36 PM |
GY is already up KS ass about it. Mark my word that he will be on the team due to executive pressure. Another executive member in for one obvious reason. The joke continues. |

Mark my words that GY's kid will be on the AA team. He has already started the executive pressure to get his kid on the team. Another executive member out for one thing , and that's moving his kid up the ladder unjustly. |

there is no way he makes the team, who get's cut? |

If GY makes the AA team who does he replace? He is not in the AA class |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 Whitby | September 11 2012, 8:48 PM |
He was an average A player last year. Not the best forward on the A team and not the worst. Somewhere in betweeen.
You can blame the executive all you want, but it takes two to tango. Executive can put all the pressure on the coach, but does the coach have the balls to stand up to them and pick his own team? Time will tell. If GY's kid makes it and a deserving kid gets cut as a result, that's sickening. |

It's already in the works.phone calls have been made to KS. Wait for the explosion. |

How does he look at his players and their parents in the eyes knowing he didn't make the best selections for the team? We'll see what he's made of. |

If KS wants the 3A team next season he takes GY's kid this year. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 Whitby | September 12 2012, 7:43 AM |
GY would have preferred this talk occur after his kid made AA. Too many eyes watching now to go through with this?
Maybe not considering the asshat who was appointed A coach. No coaching experience and sanctioned by WMH as a parent, GY saved his butt from a lifetime ban in that incident. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 Whitby | September 12 2012, 7:47 AM |
Which also means the sidekick comes along in the package deal. Any way you slice it, it means there are two deserving kids that worked their asses off at tryouts and never had a chance.
Getting a coaching position should be on merit. On knowledge of the game of hockey, not the political game. On making your team better as a team and as kids. I guess when your track record is mediocre, you have to rely on political means to get the position you want. This is going to be a long year. |

7:43 do you really think that this talk on N54 is going to have any impact on KS's decisions? Not a chance. The only thing that will have an impact on KS, is his conscience. |

Knowing everyone is now watching will affect KS more than his consience.

The reality is that WMH puts in coaches that they can control in terms of all hockey related decisions. Most of the coaches are puppets of the executive. What they end up getting is coaches that desperately want to coach for self-serving reasons, and don't have the best interest of their respective teams at heart. Scratch my back and I'll scratch yours, is what has become of WMH. |

He'll still end of taking GY's son and/or the sidekicks son. Both do not plat at AA level and neither is deserving. Guaranteed 1 if not both, will be on this team. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 Whitby | September 12 2012, 10:05 AM |
My kids a 95 so just learning of these characters; isn't the A coach the sidekick? AA won't keep that kid if dad's coaching A.
GY looks over both shoulders before talking was first thing I noticed. |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 Whitby | September 12 2012, 11:22 AM |
GY's kid will not be on this team. He's easily 14th or 15th on the tryout depth chart and he'd never be able to justify it to his team or parents. Sidekick will gladly step aside as coach and AE coach could take over the A team if Sidekicks son makes AA. He won't hold his kid back just to be the A coach. |

Dont forget about the so called DEV director kid is out there, he was suppose to make jump to AAA this year - doubt there will be A and AE, no numbers !!! |

He should not be playing AA. If he makes it. Is he going to sit on the bench all year since he will not be able to play at an AA level |
|
Anonymous (no login) | Re: 96 Whitby | September 12 2012, 2:16 PM |
Here's how I see the AA team shaking out
FWD - MS, JH, BH, BA, 95 boy!, BM, MT these players are sure. Possible bubble is RW, ES but don't see enough talent to knock these two boys off.
D - CV, DS, 95 kid, 95 kid, AJ, MV
Goalies - BO and 2nd spot up for grabs |

Not going to put initial but missing 1 obvious F and 2 obvious D that will be there for sure. Don't know who MT is and don't know enough about any 95's but KS will have to make some tough cuts for some of the others that were on last years team.

2:26, MT is the kid of the guy that made the prediction list. He's been talking about returning players also. |

The best 96 who could still play is EC. Boys at school say hes out for a long time yet. What injury does he have and how did it happen. Tough love for this young man as he didnt even get to take part in the st mikes camp, the team who drafted him and many observers thought he would be better than BM. |

There were upwards of 45 skaters that started out at AA. Won't leave much for an AE team, but with a little bit of recruiting, they should be able to put a team on the ice. Really depends on how many of those AA cuts decide to still tryout at A/AE. If all of them do, then maybe there will be 4 rep teams at Midget
