1997 AAA. Oakville. Rangers

August 14 2012 at 12:15 PM
Anonymous  (no login)

Leaks coming out of Oakville camp.(not referring to new coach)
Ice time will be an issue with the new editions on pp pk and first line.
Several parents openly pissed at what's developing. DH not concerned about upset parents. Focus on winning at all costs. Tough year for some.

What what did you expect to happen when you bring in a bunch of imports. That is why they were brought in, because they are supposed to be better than the players that are already there!

Importing players for added depth at the bottom end is one thing. But when you import players for your top lines it's another. This is when it gets ugly. But you Oakville parents at the time only saw how strong your team will get and could walk around with your chests out about how great our team will be and what ranking we will have. Only probelm will be is the "we" and "our" team will turn into the "them" and "their" team as the majority of you kids are sidelined. Such near sighted, arrogant, too much money to know what to do with it idiots.
You just bought these imports good spots in the draft and a possible no thank you for your kid. Enjoy sleeping in the bed you just made.

The whole team just got better. The new players placed on lines with the vets from the OR team will just make them all better. Three lines deep. No 1, 2, 3 line. Line combinations that can score are not a problem. Mix them up every game maybe. The same goes for defense.

Think about it OP, do you really beleive there will be significant sitting in as weak a loop as the SCTA? Really? Geez, OR will be up on half the teams by 4 goals in the first period, why would anyone need to sit?

Secondly, competition for ice time is what it is from here on in. Your kid wants to play at the highest level? He will have to EARN his ice time regardless of whether he is an OHL first rounder, 5th rounder or free agent.

Any good coach at this level rewards good play with more ice time, and uses it as a tool when kids aren't competing or following game plan.

Stop already with all the pot stirring, it's embaressing.

Who cares if you play a regular shift against Guelph or NF in the SCTA. Your ice time will suffer against the Marlies and Rebs and teams of the like during tournaments like the Silver Stick and OHL Cup. Those are the games you want to be on the ice to show your stuff. Those are the games the scouts will be interested in. Those are the games that the only Oakville kid (Spencer)will get pp, pk, double shifted. The other oakville kids and their parents will be left watching the imports and fuming. Wait and see.

Talk to any OHL scout and they will tell you that ice time is not critical in evaluating a player. They recognize there are alot of sub-par coaches out there and a lot of bought deals that influence ice-time in minor hockey.

Facts are your friend.

Re: 1997 AAA. Oakville. Rangers

August 15 2012, 9:50 AM

Just substitute Windsor with Oakville and it pretty much makes sense.........

OHL Announces Fines / Sanctions
The Ontario Hockey League, (OHL), has levied fines totaling $400,000.00 against the Windsor Spitfires Hockey Club and taken away three 1st round draft selections and two 2nd round draft selections from the Spitfires.

“In 2009 the Board of Governors of the Ontario Hockey League developed the OHL ENFORCEMENT PROGRAM which is designed to address and attempt to eliminate violations of the RULES and impose appropriate penalties if violations occur. The enforcement process is an integral part of the process to ensure integrity and fair play among the MEMBER TEAMS. One of the fundamental principles of the enforcement process is to ensure that those MEMBER TEAMS that are abiding by the rules are not disadvantaged by their commitment to compliance”, stated OHL Commissioner David Branch.

“The League conducted two separate investigations led by our Director of Security and Enforcement, and in considering all the facts, I was persuaded that the Windsor Spitfires Hockey Club violated the League’s Player Benefit and Recruitment Rules and Policies. While the penalties may appear to be severe, the League and its Member Teams recognize for any such violations of our Recruitment / Benefit Rules and Policies, we must send a strong message to preserve the integrity of our League”, concluded Branch.

In addition to the fine, the Windsor Spitfires shall forfeit 1st round selections in the annual OHL Priority Selection in the years 2013, 2014, 2016, and 2nd round selections in the OHL Priority Selection Process for the years 2015 and 2017.

9:48am Once again you demonstrate you know f all.

Ask a few scouts at the Titans tournament and you will be enlightened. Obviously a kid has to play some.

A d-man on my son's team last year saw no ice on special teams and was rarely if ever on the ice in close games at the end of periods and games. He got drafted ahead of other kids who got a ton more ice.

Why you ask? Because scouts evaluate projectability to the next level, even in limited viewings.

Once again, facts are your friend.

I'm an outsider parent on another SCTA team & I'm not trying to cause shit or stir the pot; I'm just curious. Did DH sit down with the team/parents at some point before tryouts & lay out his plan for this coming season? Were you TOLD what was going to happen, or ASKED if this plan was OK? I feel for the displaced boys if this was a dictatorial type move as, in solely my opinion, that wouldn't be right & selfish of DH. If the incumbent parent group had a say in what was going to transpire, then good for you for building a potential powerhouse SCTA team & it should be fun & a challenge to play against you this upcoming season. Good luck!

Hello Haters,

Im an OR parent. I would offer following:

No, we were not consulted before the decision was made to bring in some new talent.
ANd no, I do think that is relevant. My kid loved the team last year, is excited about this year, and likes both groups of kids.

If he gets less ice-time, so be it. Every one of these kids will eventually be told they arent good enough. This year...next...maybe in the NHL. I don't see a Gretzky here, so they will all eventually get the bad news. My son understands that in hockey as in life, hard work pays off. ANd competition is to be expected.

ANd for the record, every kid that got released as a result of the new talent, landed on another AAA team. No exceptions. Unfortunately for the haters, that was because DH was up front and forthright with everyone - given them ample opporutnity to land elsewhere.

As camp starts, team tension growing. Should be interesting to see how long the inner circle will keep the lid on their dislike of a few.
DH /RV managing to keep control of the 2 groups which have evolved. Family Advisors for the few on this team are making their presence known.

Anyne who's affiliated with this team (as opposed to the frustrated outsiders who keep posting) knows that the boys are incredibly tight already. There are no "camps" evolving. In fact, im amazed at how quickly they have unified.

Will they unravel during the season? I guess we'll see. But if new blood leads to mid-season Kabooms, then the bomb-watch is on for Brampton, STA and Halton as well.

Relax folks.

I'm laughing as I respond to the first posting. Hahaha. What a bunch of crap.
First day of camp just finished and 'loonie tunes' is making up rumours about ice time on pp etc... hahaha and the parents are already fuming hahaha asshole! hahaha they didn't even work on these today and all previous scrimmages had no penalties called (only breakaway vs goalie.)

Some people are so full of it. Just gotta laugh

The joke is on all of you haters. Too bad the whole team gets along, parents are just great and if the scta is considered "weak" as you say, then too bad! Tell your Johnny to step up to the plate then..everyone is bored with you crying outsiders that have nothing else better to do but scan and disect the OR camps and practices (to report back to your so called "weak" team).
For the record..the team knows that haters like you, would love to see them crash and burn so you all have actually fueled them to ban together and become a powerhouse. So, Thank You! Keep it rolling..oh, and have a good season!

1016 and how would you know that? Spying on the team like a popperazzi, seriously leave the kids alone. In any dressing room, especially one that is bringing in strong personalities for the first time like OR is going to have some young buck issues. It will either sort itself out or not, but that is for their coach to sort out.

Better yet, troll their Brampton, Halton, Burlington, TRW, or Hamilton threads. Its apparently much more satisfying to spread unsubstantiated shite about teams your not affiliated with? I might try?

No, I wont, because I have a life. Get one boys. Its fun.

I'd be pretty upset if I were a parent on this team. Lots of promises of great coaching, both jump ship, and all they ended up with is a crap coach and a bunch of imports that will be taking their kids' ice time. That's gotta suck, and right before the season starts, too. But I'm sure it will all be fine.

without being a prick.. its safe to say a lot of those new kids went to Oakville to play for Strong... they could be convinced to stick around for Vaive, but they aint staying all year for DH.. at least3, maybe 4 will bail on this.. easy to demand your release by threatening to come clean on all the backroom dealing that had to have happened to make this come together.. oh well, the best laid plans

August 27 2012, 10:15 AM - Am Acquittal doesn't mean he didn't do it, just that he could afford the counsel to get him off. Many don't have that luxury. Besides, he was still quoted afterward suggesting it was fine to have a few and drive, so really didn't sink in. Bouncing back and getting life on the rails comes with some self-exploration, understanding and admitting a problem. Under your theory, you get off with $$$ talking heads, and life is back as it should be. I wonder what someone like Rob Ramage thinks of your mindset?

Post-trial comments are one thing, do you know how he feels today? Does he still drink? Has he sought help in dealing with the issue? You don't know, like I don't but clearly you are willing to criticize the guy repeatedly on here without the facts.

If you are so very concerned, talk to him and ask him about it. Alas, I know cowards like you never will....

Oakville parent(s), it's OK to lose. I realize it's a ding to your ego, but you'll get over it with time and as the losses pile up. Relax, it's just a kids game and they will all be playing ASHL at Canlan soon enough. This will only get worse when the season starts, and certainly in tourny play with better teams than the SCTA. Your kids will be riding pive while the new imports take the lions share of ice.
