CI IN AZ - a new paradigm?

I know there are 10 CI people in AZ... they MUST have a local mortician... Ettinger's mortician method eschews (rejects) SA... so let's say half those CI people follow Ettinger and not Best (proSA).... we have a group of 5 CI'ers in Phoenix with a local mortician. CI basic is 28K with a $10/mo membership... (reasonable)... my life insurance policy is 50K... If I put the policy in CI's hands... paid the membership of $10/mo... I'd have 22K right now for transport and other costs... OR.... I'd have a margin for inflation into the future... by several years... but certainly not inflation and tech covering me to the year of my life expectecny to 2057... (100 years)... Still.... it's an interesting NEW idea... for Phoenix Alcor members who don't want to pay higher Alcor dues nor get more insurance... CI in AZ...."CIAZ"... pronounced Cheese.... Say "cheese" (CIAZ) happy.gif

I've emailed CI to inquire about their phoenix members.

Will report back here on response. If CI'ers see this, please respond in this public thread.

Ben's response unclear.

Hi Rick,

The Phoenix Cryonics Meetup is open to members of
both Alcor and CI, even though it is run by Bonnie Mcgee
and mostly Alcor members attend. I think some CI Members
attend occasionally, but not often, but you would have to
ask Bonnie. We do not give out CI Membership details
the way Alcor has issued Member Directories. The most
high-profile CI Member living in Phoenix is Jack Nixon

http://www.cryonics.org/bio.html#Jack_Nixon

The Chamberlains now live in Florida.

CI had funeral directors in Phoenix that we
have worked with, and arrangements can
be made to contact them if you become a
CI Member.

I'm an Alcor member... but I'm thinking about switching... I was under the impression there are about 10 CI members in Pheonix...

Do they have a local cooperating mortician and a regular meeting? I would imagine they would... and that they would be following Ettinger's prescription on that count...

Can I hook up with them.... by phone conversation to a contact?

Thanks...

Rick Potvin

CI "had" funeral directors in Phoenix?

December 26 2010, 8:51 AM

Why can't we know the funeral director in advance ?

CI members in Pheonix don't need Alcor and shouldn't be "meeting up" with them.

CI and Alcor operate totally differently... and CI members in Phoenix ought to have their own system to operate.... it should be made very clear which mortician in town can handle cryonics cases willingly... with CI... .Ben should have simply named the firm.

Back in the 1970s and 1980's, I would have had to have gone to the library to find a Phoenix phone directory... or a big library with a national list of funeral directors... now we have this... google...

CPlatt is in AZ... and went to CI... he's ONE OF THEM!! -a "CIAZ'er" (cheeser).

There's a book entitled Who Moved My Cheese?

http://www.google.com/images?num=50&hl=en&safe=off&q=%22who%20moved%20my%20cheese%3F%22&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi

http://www.dymocks.com.au/ImageHandler.ashx?w=200&q=9780091816971

It just occurred to me... that CPlatt has done exactly what I'm now proposing to do... or that other Pheonix Alcor members could do.. with limited life insurance...

It's stunning when you work through the process and come of it ending up thinking it's "new" when someone got there before you. Wow.

So CPlatt MUST KNOW OF THE LOCAL COOPERATING MORTICIAN... and CPLATT must be having regular meetings with the other 10 CI members in AZ....

Fantastic... this is a real possibility for ME... to control my COSTS... eliminate the $800 a year Alcor membership fee... stay "signed up" with a cryo org... and delay my decision to derail my cryopreservation a few more months or years... but more economically.... and wait and see if something else doesn't happen that makes it easier...

I still think.. that by 2057... CI's charge will be more than 50K... so... I'm still throwing $10 / mo down the drain... in that sense... but I can handle that for a couple of months..
