Nah, Liverpool beat Besiktas 8-0 a few years back. May be one of the biggest aggs though.

I firmly believe, despite not yet winning a World Cup (in fairness he was in a weakened side for one and had a psycho manager for the other), he's the best to have put foot to ball.

I don't think it's even important he hasn't won the World Cup. Far more people than me who are better placed to judge who the best ever is given I only seen the Maradona in USA 94 and the others considered up there are beyond my time but I just love watching him play football. Far better than anyone else in my time

The generation he's playing in? The generation of the most over-protected, least physical, petulant bunch of nancies to every play the game, you mean? Not to mention the two-bob league he plays in.

Stick him in a team playing away to Stoke on a miserable Sunday afternoon and he'd shit himself.

i think he meant the pace of the game and the physical improvement of the players since Pele's era.

I love it when people say Ronaldo is better cos Messi relies on service, it is an indicator of who's opinions to instantly dismiss.

It's all relative, though, isn't it?

He might have a claim when he's scored somewhere near 1300 goals in 1400 games and won 3 world cups.

Best Argie player? Maybe. Best ever? Nowhere near. Not yet.

Chairman the team who are currently fifth in this "two-bob league" are doing a damn sight better against Man Utd than Arsenal have done this season. Take your blinkers off, the Premier League isn't all that, and Arsenal are struggling to hold onto 4th in it.

It's ridiculous to compare two one-off games in a European Cup competition with a 9 month long league campaign.

It's a tired debate but the mid-lower table PL teams are superior to those in La Liga. Unless you are blindly seduced by the 'exotic/glamorous' tag Serie A and La Liga teams seem to have.

As for the "exotic/glamorous" tag La Liga supposedly has, I just like the football. Maybe you've swallowed the "most exciting league in the world" bullshit Sky constantly peddle. Or maybe you're just a little Englander.

Re: Messi

La Liga is bereft of defensive play and there's no physicality in the league. PL teams have to combine the best of both defensive and attacking play which makes for a much faster, more exciting game on average. A lot of the time watching La Liga games, especially not involving either of the top two, can be like watching paint dry. It's not often there's no entertainment in a PL game.

To not see that the PL is, if only even slightly, better than La Liga probably shows complacency or a lack of appreciation for what it really offers. Or you're a bitter Scotsman like SHP.

I'm the total opposite. I really enjoy watching those kind of games, Stoke v Norwich for example, as much, if not more so, than the top 4, truth be told. There's a good bit of needle, and you can appreciate what it means to each set of fans, as you know the size of the clubs, what it means to them to win any particular game, be it to stay in the league, to avoid an embarrassing derby win, or because they are a 'bigger club' than the other. Give me something I can relate to over a league where I know nothing of the clubs any day of the week. For me that is what is great about the English game, the tribal nature, and the fact that even though you only support one club, you're intrigued to know every result from each club, because you can relate to each set of fans.

Perhaps if you aren't bitter, you might want to reign in the shoehorning in at any opportunity of your derision of anyone that thinks the PL is the superior European league.

You are a jingoistic, frothy mouthed, English hating dullard. As evidencced by your love of the SNP in previous threads and your pathalogcial need to jump in and sneer whenever anyone praises the Engligh Premier League. You offer nothing other than childish, one line responses without actually contributing anything for discussion.

It seems that everyone, other than yourself, is painfully aware of the light aircraft sized chip on your shoulder other than yourself.

And the fact that you were so keen to laugh and cheer on the demise of Rangers pretty sums up what sort of 'football' fan you are. As is common in Glasgow.
