Manifatture Firenze - experience - excellent product, terrible customer serviceMay 21 2012 at 4:47 PM

I was searching for reasonable-priced coloured leather straps for my manual wind Luminor, but the hitch was that I have medium sized wrists so needed the 110/65 size. Since this size is usually a custom order, I tried Manifatture Firenze - as they had a positive review on another board, good website, straight forward ordering, carried the 110/65 size in most straps, and all at a reasonable price (~$100-125/strap).
Since I'm in Toronto and the shipping charges are excessive, I ordered 3 straps to atleast make the shipping cost worthwhile. I ordered a blue w/white stitch, tan w/dark stitch and brown w/light stitch. The ordering/payment experience was awesome - received a confirmation email instantly.
In between my order and waiting for shipment, I sent an email to customer service asking if they make leather strap wallets (to carry multiple straps) and they responded within a few hours, so I had a great feeling about my order. When the 10-15 days had passed and still had no word on the status of my order, I emailed them to find out and got no response, which was annoying to me. After another 2 emails, still no response, but a couple days later it was followed up by a shipping notice so my blood pressure returned to normal.
MF uses TNT Global Shipping - which was very fast and provides detailed shipment tracking. (Guy picked up, guy walked to truck, guy stopped for a latte...) I had to change the delivery address from home to my office, and it was a breeze. The 1800# was answered quickly, they emailed me an address change form, I scanned/emailed it back and it was delivered the next day. These guys were pretty awesome, better than my UPS and FedEx experiences.
The straps came in a beautiful box with the company's logo and a very handy carry bag. The quality of the straps (only been 2 weeks so far) is excellent - nice thick leather, high quality stitching, the finishing is really top notch. I bought the spring bars from another website for $10 so switching them is just a breeze. Unfortunately, 1 of the two straps (the tan w/dark stitching) is the 115/75 size and so is too big for me. Now I've been sending emails (yes, they don't have a phone number) since I received them 2 weeks ago (about 4 emails so far), and have had zero responses/acknowledgement. So while my overall experience was good, and I'll put this one strap on for sale for my cost, I just can't get myself to buy from somewhere that has no customer service.
So for all you folks considering MF - the quality is great, but unfortunately the customer service makes it challenging.
If you're in Toronto and want to buy this strap, let me know I'll send you a photo.
Hope this helps!
