I: I agree that the flood story relates to a great local event; however, the narrative leading up to the flood tells a tale of corruption of the flesh and of the spirit which, for me, more than suggests that nature had a little help in washing away a lot of sin.

I: It's the "...were likely..." part of your reply that gives me pause to ponder if it takes more faith to not believe than to believe in the tales from the Bible.
