You: "There probably was a great local flood, there probably were many of them as the ice was receding. Primitive people took natural events such as floods and volcanoes as "acts of God"."
I: I agree that the flood story relates to a great local event; however, the narrative leading up to the flood tells a tale of corruption of the flesh and of the spirit which, for me, more than suggests that nature had a little help in washing away a lot of sin.
You: "The plagues, if they occurred were likely natural as well."
I: It's the "...were likely..." part of your reply that gives me pause to ponder if it takes more faith to not believe than to believe in the tales from the Bible.
