I went grocery shopping at Walmart last night. I usually go late at night, after my shift, and meet some really interesting people. I'm the type of person who likes to keep to herself, but somehow, I seem to attract various people who just like to talk.
I had a huge cart load of groceries, with only one lane open. While I was checking out, these two women behind me, who only had a few items, started talking. I thought they'd be angry, because they had to wait so long while I was checking out, but then it seemed that they just wanted to talk. Since I had so many groceries, they asked if I had a big family. I said, "No, just my husband and myself." Then I added, "Well, when the kids and grandkids come over for Easter, there will be quite a few."
So, we talked a little more before I went to my car. As I was putting all the stuff in my car, those women came out, and by chance, they were parked right next to my car.
We talked some more, and they asked me if I believed in God. I said, "Well, I kind of think so." They asked if I ever heard the gospel. I said, "Many times....I used to be a Born Again Christian for about 17 years and went to church and Bible studies 3 or 4 times a week....and read the Bible through several times." They looked amazed, but then I said that I don't consider myself to be a Christian anymore, because I don't agree with how God is portrayed in the Bible, and religion is just a belief. There is no proof.
There was this big black dog barking in the back of their truck, and there was just that very slight thought in my mind that something could be amiss. But they just drove off, and I thought that they'd probably end up doing what I would have done during my Christian years......pray for that person to come back to the flock.
Any thoughts? What would you do?
