I think this is the issue Posted Mar 12, 2012 8:43 PM
I'm pretty certain that this is NOT the issue - its not whether those qualities are important, the challenge is to distinguish in candidates who truly has those qualities versus who giamans those qualities or pretends to have them. Anderson Agiru is the most brilliant example of a completely corrupt politician who always places the face of Jesus in his campaign posters and acts like he's a God fearing Christian. Probably 90% of those who listen to him believe it and THAT'S the problem. Because he's faking the whole thing, and he's doing it to stay in power long enough to steal even more money.
The same issues apply to Telefomin. We needs concrete ways of evaluating potential leaders to determine just how capable they are to do well in a political position while behaving ethically and morally proper. Just because someone says they lead a moral life doesn't mean they do, but we MUST find ways to distinguish the good from the bad, not just based on their words.
