HYPOCRIT SAM BASIL=A WILLING PART OF THE CORRUPT O'NEILL GOVERNMENT DICTATORSHIP

April 9 2012 at 9:54 AM
Complete disgusted

What a hypcrit Basil is. I was on a plane with him last week and not one person talked to him. He too kept his head low and avoided eye contact with others.

Sam Basil VOTED FOR the election deferral.

Sam Basil VOTED FOR the judiciary bill of dictatorship.

He has let the power and the money go to his head obviously. Sam Basil has no principles otherwise he would still be standing on them.

Basil, you have become like a Carol Kidu or worse, closing your eyes and ears so that you can't see (and thus don't have to comment) how the entire government around you is totally corrupt.

I pray that the whole O'Neill government (so many from the former corrupt Somare government) are has their time up in June and that includes you, PNG's Award Winning Hypocrit THE DISHONOURABLE SAM BASAL!!!!!!!

I am not his mother,I am his step-mother and I only defend him when I think someone is being unfair to him as he is first and foremost,my local MP.
You have no idea what we,his family, say to him.Sometimes we are his harshest critics.
I actually think the elections should be deferred as the electoral rolls are not in order.Every man and dog in PNG knows that there are a lot of people on the electoral roll many times and there are ghost names there and there are many people who go to vote and their names have disappeared from the rolls.
Howver, all along Andrew Trawen has been saying that the rolls will be updated in time and all is well.
Sadly, the Gov't has had five years to attend to the errors on the rolls and nothing was done but isn't this mainly the fault of the Somare Gov't?The bio-chip system is not a new one and was suggested to the Govt as a cheap alternative about 8 years ago but no-one had the guts to make the radical decision and adopt it.
However, there is no guarantee that in the time of the proposed deferral, the right changes will be made and this will still not prevent the same old corrupt police and public servants allowing people to doublevote, especially out in out-lying areas.
I have always said that for the actual election process, senior high school students and perhaps uni students should be involved and employed and instead of public servants and others doing things like going on strike and delaying the voting and counting process, senior students would be only too happy to take part and I did suggest that allowances be paid in part and half be used to offset school fees.
Sam Basil has two choices-he can be part of the current gov't or he can be with the Somare faction.Where would you choose to be?
One thing you have to say in defence of the current Gov't is that they have wholeheartedly gotten down to the business of running the country and have at least been conducting parliamentary sittings, unlike the Somare Gov't which had risen until after the elections and have barely participated in parliament at all.

Meri Wau, Sam Basil could have very well either sat in the opposition with Carrol Kidu OR sat in the middle benches and refused to be part of any side. But noooooooo. The temptation of power got to him, and power ultimately was more important than maintaining a pure, corrupt-free voice of reason that the people would listen to.

He screwed his reputation up PERMANENTLY and I mean permanently.

OK, it seems there is a good reason for deferring the election for 6 months, but what is the reason for Justice Bill? Basil please come out, be vocal and tell PNG why you think new Justice Bill is good for PNG. I am sure you have some good reasons. Please come out and be vocal again like you use to be when you were in the opposition. A short media statement and you'll regain the trust and the respect, which you are about to loose.

Mr. Sam Basil, is a crook of the highest calibre. Talk about money laundring, he is a major part of the Namah gang.
The guy makes himself so superficial, clean in his public image, but he is really a devil inside. He also doesn't know how to smile or say hello to people he passes. Tell me, is that a trait of a Leader?

Meri Wau, Adolph Hitlser built the first freeways in the world and made the trains run on time, so does that mean you would have supported Hitler? Sounds like it is since you're willing to support the O'Namah government because they hold parliamentary sessions.

Morals and ethics?

April 11 2012, 11:55 AM

Sadly you don't know me as if you did you wouldn't be accusing me as such.
I am a practising Jew so the Hitler support is pretty pathetic.
I supported the O'Neill Gov't because it boiled down to a choice between the Gov't of the day(Somare) and the newcomers who ended up offering Free education.Free Education doesn't affect me as I have raised my family(and a few of other people's as well) but I know what it means to PNG people and that is what PNG is all about.
I have had a few issues that I don't agree with but they are not enough for me to withdraw my support but you may notice Sam has stood back from his former stance as 100% defender.I don't know how he feels about a lot of things these days as he has been working very hard within his Ministry and we don't get to see him too often now.I think you are very unfair to throw all of this back at him as though he is the root cause. He is only one person in the ranks of the Gov't and why are you not pinpointing all of the others. It sounds to me like you have a personal axe to grind-
For you and I the choice comes at the polling booth

Re: Morals and ethics?

Free Education means taking the money that could have been used to buy books and other resource materials for schools and instead using it to relieve family members of all obligations to work hard on behalf of their kids (as well as only have enough kids that they can support with their own hard work). In other words, the money is shifted from doing things truly useful to raising the level of education and changed instead to creating a handout.

Meri Wau, if you never saw that, and were only thinking about the struggling of people (we have a long ways to go b4 we are struggling like average people in India or China), it shows a very shallow level of analysis, which convinces me that you would have made a great MP.

For a deprerssing larger segment of our population, our choice does not come at the polling booth, because either we do not find our name on the voter rolls or an electoral official corruptly changes our vote or the ballot box where we placed our vote is stolen and burnt. Yes, those are the realities, Meri Wau. Fortunately for you again, you don't actually see what's going on underneath your nose, only whats on the surface.

Struggling parents

April 11 2012, 4:23 PM

Friend I don't know about you but I struggled for 40 years and was a slave to school fees. This is my first year out of that yoke of enslavement, not because of the "Free Schooling" but because I have finished educating my 12th kid as a single mother.
Maybe you were more fortunate and it was not a big thing for you.Lucky you!
I have served at various times on school boards here and in Lae and never once did I see a school that was able to apply "project Fees" to actually do projects, except in International schools.
This year I see our local High School being able to build teachers houses, buy a new school vehicle, pay most of the massive debt incurred by an errant headmaster last year(over K200,000) and still have enough money budgetted for library books, new desks and to feed the boarders until the end of the year. This is due to the Govt paying the large amount up front and the project fee contribution by the parents. If the promised second tranche comes it will be a bonus and we will be able to build a library and more housing and dorms. Thanks to our MP we are also getting a new mess and a water supply for our school.Last year he gave us a teachers house and last week he funded another one.The bonuses are coming thick and fast and with effective board management we have never been as well off.
One thing I have noticed and do not miss is the bundle of begging letters from people asking for help with their fees so maybe we will go some way to getting rid of the beggar mentality at the same time as having a better educated community.
I also hope that the promise continues to be honoured and until it isn't I will continue to be positive.

Stop promoting handouts, because handout mentality only leads to laziness and more demands for handouts.

Free education is NOT free. It's being paid for behind the scenes. Free education promotes HANDOUT MENTALITY.

Both Sam and Dame Carol should reflect on the words of a famous leader. FOR EVIL TO PROSPER IS FOR GOOD MEN TO DO NOTHING. The Dame gave a very corrupt government credibility as is Sam Basil. Dame Carol knew what Nape was up to but not once did she come out when he was stifling debate in parliament. Let me remind Sam that dead bodies dont have pockets. The money you are getting from your bunch of theiving mates you will not be able to take with you when you die. Please remember that when you see the children in the villages of your electorate dying from basic medical care. Look at the people dying in your electorate from HIV, TB and Malaria as well as a myriad of other diseases.( Wau Meri these people dont get the opportunity of education because they are dying). Think of that next time when you and your bunch of thieves go to Brisbane for Easter and splash money around that belongs to the people of PNG. Just think of how many lives that money could have saved. Sam had the ability to be the future PM of PNG and now he is no better than the rest of the womanising, lying, scheming, thieving bunch that he has alighned himself with.Sam you have lost my vote.

You are perfectly entitled to vote who you like. That is what is still one of the things we enjoy-a democracy. If you think someone will perform better than Sam Basil-go for him ,or her.
If there are any kids I see in Wau,or know of,that are dying of HIV they can come to me for help at any time and they know it.Actually retroviral drugs are available for them to make sure that their lives are able to be lived healthily as long as they keep on taking the medication. The ones that have identified themselves to me I personally make sure their medication is collected from Lae and doled out to them.Sadly many people get disillusioned along the way and get hopeful that "herbs" will cure them and they sometimes stop taking their medication which causes a relapse back in to bad health.
Another problem is that parents who know very well that they are HIV Positive do not tell their families therefore the families do not get the tests they need to determine and perhaps prove that they are positive too.I can't do much more than that although I wish I could.People have their own opinions and the privacy issue is a big one.
All of you who are out there being critical-what do you do to make someone else's life better?

For those of you that think me stupid you are entitled to your opinion.I am just a poor old widow, probably like your mother herself.
It is to the general public that free Education means such a lot,not to me and not to any of my family.
I do not support the O'Neill Government because they have delivered free Education,I am not even sure that they will get my vote but at present we have two choices, the O"Neill Govt and the Somare Gov't.Next month the choice base will be broadened and I hope to God we will get better people and people will choose wisely.
Free education was one of the issues that was discussed and I said that it makes a difference ,not just to families but to schools as they had money for new projects at the beginning of this year.
Some of you clung on to that as if I knew so little and quite frankly you make me sick with your narrow-minded racism and your pathetic remarks.

Re: Morals and ethics? A FAIR 2012 election? Don't make me fall down laughing!!!!!!

April 18 2012, 7:26 AM

What makes you seem so stupid is the fact that you belindly believe that the 2012 election is going to be free and fair, may the best man in, everyone's votes will count, those with the most honest votes will win.

There should be enough evidence right in front of your very eyes that the election is going to be totally screwed up and corrupted.

A zillion ways have developed on how to fix the vote, all ell practiced in the last election. How did Polye win in a tribally fractured area ith 80% of the vote in 2007? How did Somare manage to buy off the loyalty of 40 MP at a cool K1 million each, paid from an ANZ bank account with Rimbunin Hijau blood money? But all that is nothing to the coercion at the voting booth, the stuffing of ballot boxes, the fixing of votes behind the scenes by corrupt electoral officials that will occur in 2012.

The 2007 vote was so corrupt that more people votes than there wewre eligible voters. And that was under Michael Somare, who is mostly inept and stupid, not corrupt. Think what's going to happen under O'Neill, Namah, and the rest of the merry tricksters.

How can you say I believe blindly that the elections will be free and fair? I know they won't be and they weren't last time around either and I know it probably better than you as I was a candidate.
In the towns in our electorate they were reasonably free and fair but towards the Waria Valley, particularly in Biaru and right in the valley at a place called Sim, many more people voted than there were names on the rolls.People voted over and over again and when my people pointed this out to police and polling officials they were laughed at.Other scrutineers for other candidates also saw and were ignored when they protested.
I would imagine it happened in the home area of other candidates as well but you know, you lose heart and stop caring and stop trying to get elected.

Sam Basil is quickly becoming the fool-what happened to him?

May 4 2012, 6:54 AM

Getting back to the topic, I'm sure many of you have read the newspapers of people complaining that Sam Basil is using a combination of making many many promises that he can't keep (espcially promising to buy cargo for this or that group), combined with buying trinkets for those he does help, making them angry too! It's hard for me to believe how this fellow, who was on top of the world and commanded great respect when he was outside government, is now totally mucking things up and even making his own constituents angry. He promises to be present at this or that event then doesn't show up. Doesn't show up (this is what 2 friends from Morobe have now told me independently), blames it on work he's doing in parliament, then he's seen coming off, and later jumping on the plane at Nadzab. In other words, he seems to have become a typical pollie, a total liar and promising people things he can't deliver. As one of my friends put it, "the only thing Sam Basil can do is put up fancy signs". What is he refering to?

Please, meri wau, you must know him best of any on this forum. Can you give some insight on why he's changed so dramatically for the worse?

I don't think he has changed at all but he is certainly overworked and looks really tired to me.
He does say this is the worst job he has ever had but I am sure he is happy with what he has achieved.
I don't think he has done much for us in Wau but we are hoping that if he is re-elected he will get to us eventually. After all,no -one else has ever done anything much for us either and he has been very supportive over issues we have had at our Grace memorial High School.
It is so easy to be critical and let me give you an example.
He came back from Moresby the other day,Tuesday I think it was, and drove up from Lae to atend a funeral then on to Pinetops in Bulolo as there were landowner/settler disputes and after being quite powerless but doing his best he drove back to Lae,spent the night with his family and got straight back on the early morning plane and flew back to Moresby to attend to urgent work witin his Ministry.
Every day is meetings and people on his doorstep just like all politicians have but he certainly tries to get back home most weekends and up to Buang.
You all say I am always defending him and I have only replied to this because you have specifically asked-

Meri Wau, I noted some of your points in this posting and smiled to myself.

My people have urged me to contest the elections also and I went home for the last 10 days. I had people roll up all day and night. Some where genuine and wanted to support me for what I could to for the province.

But others simply came and asked me for money in order to ensure their support. I refused to entertain them. In fact, I walked away from one group because it upset me so much that people could see me as just another way to get money or food.

I have now left the province and am sitting here wondering whether it is really worth it quitting my job and then subjecting myself to become father xmas to my people.

I believe in working hard to earn your keep, I do not think that we should get things for free but I am finding that around 40% of the electorate actually believe that if they vote for you, they are making you rich and hence you need to pay your way in!

God help us all!

I know exactly where you are coming from and it is actually the people themselves who corrupt the politicians with their expectations of all the free stuff they are going to get and it seems to me that many of the politicians who stay in Moresby do so for sheer peace of mind.To keep their distance from the very people they have been voted to serve.
Some people of course,go in to politics knowing full well that it is probably going to make them very rich and it has done so for many but thankfully there are others who leave after being voted out of office and they stayed true to their convictions which is sometimes why they were never voted back again. There are also several who have never made a fortune but this is in a very tiny minority and the amount of money now given to an elected memeber to dispurse with little accountability is ridiculous and such a temptation to anyone.

I have been to quite a few where he has delivered hefty cheque payments and I have even been surprised at this.We all have respect for the dead but mostly this is satisfying the expectations of the living and it is all taken from our development funds.
I think we would all do better to pray for the souls of the dearly departed and forget the food for the living mourners.Maybe instead donate books to a library in their memory?

Meri Wau. Dont worry. Basil will win this election, and win it comfortably. People are winging because they cannot do what Basil is doing. They will crawl into their little caves where ever they come from and sulk like little pikininis.

A long time ago I decided that I was responsible for my own morals, not those of either of my two late husbands. This alone allowed me to hold up my head.
Most of you men are piss-weak creatures anyway but your stupid comments don't cause me any shame.

These are mandated leaders that we are talking about. Your comments are of an unprofessional or uneducated elite. Why are you taking it so personal and recist? You have 7 weeks to campaign against them. The fact is 'They are PNG leaders at this point in time, whether you like it or not'.

Shame on them?

May 23 2012, 4:07 PM

What are you talking about-"Shame on them?"...how small minded can you get. What did they do?
One thing they did, however you look at it, is to get themselves elected to parliament and that is not easy so someone loves them.
Anyway,Sam is our family and we love him.

You try to make it sound like "failed candidate " is something to be ashamed of.
Same for "white meri"
My skin might be white but I'll bet I have been here longer than you and command more respect and have done more for PNG ,and asked less in return than you would ever hope to do.
If you are trying to make me feel bad you have just failed miserably!

Don't worry about him, meri wau. I'm sometimes one of your harshest critics but the moment people get personal and just start trying to attack and humiliate you, most people can see what they're doing and their words have no impact. Just ignore them, don't even bother to answer them.

The blogger/s whoever you're, you are someone who wastes your productive time to present silly cases which does not hold water. Stop being jealous and see the M.P as your challenge and take up your yoke and do something much better than him rather then envy him with jealousy. What have you done to your people in your electorate? You seem to lost touch with your people, quality time you should give to your people in ways of setting up some small cottage industries is really wasted on this blog. You all are cowards, in reality you don't exist why don't you all organise yourselves and dethrone him at the election period....you all don't measure up to him ok...gilrlie...girlies. Man smart tru long bekim toktok na wastim time stret blong you....if you really exist, walk the talk and we would know you mean business.
