KOKOPO OPEN

September 7 2011 at 9:42 AM
Anonymous

Tamur will not be retaining his seat. His challengers are lining up against him. Whole of ENB is outraged by Nasfund Kokopo bond debacle and the expats who made big piles out money out of it while Kokopo residents are struggling.

Many longtime residents of Port Moresby are sensing weakness and are returning to Kokopo to kickstart campaigning.

That logic is a bit hard to follow LOL. But anyway, wouldn't it be great to have someone of the
caliber of William Lamur as the Kokopo rep? I don't know if he has any political affiliations
or ambitions but just judging from his business acumen, he would really provide good value
to the people of Kokopo.

I think the people have had their little experiment with amateurs...time to hand things over to
more capable people.

Re: New Blood

September 22 2011, 4:41 PM

True. But new blood has no experience either, which means that when they get into the parliament, the 'old bloods' run circles around them, stealing left and right and the new bloods don't even know what's going on.

One by one over time, the old bloods pick out new bloods willing to learn how to steal to become rich and educate them. The other new bloods are left out of the picture. Thus, those new bloods end up bringing nothing back to their people (they are denied or blocked development block grants) and they get kicked out in the next election.

This is how the old bloods have stayed in power, while picking their successors. Your idea fits right into their grand scheme.

Professor Kavanamur!

September 24 2011, 2:32 PM

How about Professor David Kavanamur for Rabaul Open or ENBP Regional and Dr. Okole for Kokopo Open.

I am their old school mate and I can honestly say that these two have done well in their educational and professional lives. They are miles ahead of their peer group. They can make good leaders at the national level like Sir Rabbie and Sir John.

Dr. Allan missed the boat and let the country down by signing the LNG Gas away to foreign vultures. Please dont return him to parliament in 2012.

Re: Professor Kavanamur!

They don't know politics and they aren't suspicious enough or motivated/fired up enough to chase after misbehaving MPs and finally get parliament in order. Instead, they'll just be like another Carol Kidu, turning their eyes down or shutting them altogether whenever they hear of the latest scam amongst MPs to rob our country blind.

Thus, they aren't the right people for this point in time. Maybe later if we can finally get a handle on the ever-growing corruption cancer.

Kavanamur and Okole are trully great people and would be a real credit to the people of East New Britain if they should decide to stand.

I know them both and they were my seniors in Uni. They are hard working, wise and sober men.

Kavanamur has advised GoPNG and Donors for some time now so he is very experienced in the area of public policy. So too is Okole who is just returning from a stint in Europe with the ACP.

I heard a smart young man once say that Corruption is like the darkness, if you do not have light, darkness simply takes over. I think that's a great analogy. If you see corruption as darkness, we simply need to elect more good people all over PNG so that they will bring the light necessary to chase corruption away.

If Kavanamur/Okole do stand for elections, I think the people of ENB would be doing themselves a real favor by electing these two.

On the other hand, pollies tend to speak too much action action action, and then we go back later on and see that all their action has collapsed in failed projects, collapsed infrastructure, and generally huge amounts of wasted money. Why? Because those pollies didn't bother to learn the theories that underlie human traits such as motivation, perseverence, capacity, etc.

You need both - theory and application. You can't take any one alone and succeed.

If the police are questioning him, that means for certain that they have some basis of suspicion for questioning him.

Whether he ends up actually having done something illegal or not, the fact is that we could certainly find someone that is squeaky clean and doesn't go socializing with the various pekpeks who want money and power.

Scratch him. He's just shown the world that he's in with the pekpek.

October 2 2011, 9:05 AM

Luba sitam you relax ,
Iam asking a genuine question if takale is with Teinstein ,
Many our our young MPs have the fancy degrees but look at the leadership qualities .
Tenstein is a good example , he has a degree and masters but it has not translated to good servant leadership . He is now hiding from then police for highly questionable deals in planning dept .

What integrity does he have , is he an honest person , good family man , delivered some projects to people .?
Let's debate this from this angle ?
If all our candidates in our province should be assessed this way and ranked ?

Give Takale a fair go

April 17 2012, 7:23 PM

Just like all the other candidates running for the 2012 NATEL, do not try to discredit anyone and let the people decide during the polls. Whatever TT had done in national Planning had been done. Of course he was suspended but to date Mr Koim has not found anything wrong with him meaning it was just sheer witch hunting by the new regime. Anyway he has resigned to contest the Rabaul seat. So guys give him a fair go and also the other candidates like Geoffery Puipui, Raymond Paulias, Francis Magel etc etc.

By the way, there is no written rule saying that only degree holders are eligible to be MPs. That's why I love PNG.
