Don't you understand. Anything that comes straight from the candidate's mouth is highly likely to be ******** - empty promises just to string you along na grisim yu inap bai yu votim em. Stop being so gullible. Information coming from witnesses and third parties may not always be accurate, but are nearly always more believable than any mauswara coming out of the candidate's mouth. After you hear a bunch of witnesses or third parties, sharing stories about the candidate and his way in life (both good and bad things), that's how you come up with a fairly accurate picture of the politician. NOT by listening to the mauswara of the politician!!!!

Any PNG candidate that has a web site worries me a lot because it sounds like they'll be more comfortable at a computer in POM for the 5 years they're in office than going out, doing the hard walks, and meeting with the majority of their voters, the village constituents.

People in other nations determine 'trust' in leaders based on solid facts and lots of information.

We base our 'trust' on dreams, hunches, feelings, impressions, and other intangible stuff that ends up us electing idiots.

Which ultimately makes all of us look like idiots.

EHP do not need Money Vs Money Politics. We need a leader with wisdom who can use his leadership attributes to help people and the province. However, I'd like to bring forward Bire Kimisopa.. Any for or against? I am neither his cronies, supporter (past election) nor beneficiaries, I'm neutral but I charge this man to be capable both for the provincial and the nation as a whole.

@Les Pinis,,, thats why I raised the suggestion as 'for and against' for a quality discussion. I will speak on the national scope but not on Goroka District perspective. I know he may not be doing well in Goroka and that is why the Goroka people dropped him in the last election. However, on the nationl scope when he was the internal Security minister, he provided a best political and economical platform for the ECP to operate in PNG to reduce crime and corruption. Very vocal and speaks with wisdom in both National and international issues. He is of the very likes of Rabbie Namaliu... I reckond he is a PM material, should he be given the change.

JON YOGIYO WILL BE THE NEXT EHP GOV

December 26 2011, 8:34 AM

Jon Yogiyo is one that cares for people. He has seen his people live a life that has not changed in the past 40 years.

Has anything changed for people in the rural areas.

EHP is so stupid that they like to ruled by outsiders - Like Kila Smith. I say EHP are confused and do not understand there is some one like Yogiyo who really cares for grass roots people.

Other Province are developing mines, there is only one tiny mine in EHP.

Coffeeman is needed. Coffee pays the bills, keeps children fed and for the wealthy ones - additional mistress are welcome.

Much progress in EHP rural areas

December 26 2011, 8:38 AM

A lot of things have changed with people in the rural areas of EHP. For example, abandoning traditional clothes that could be made for free and instead buying second hand clothes that some from Australia and result in PNG kina going to enrichen Australians.

Secondly, the mobile phone. Many EHPers even in more remote areas, now have Digicel access, which allows more EHP wealth (kina) to leave the province and go into the hands of the Irish billionaire who owns Digicel.

There are far more feeder roads in EHP than there were before which allows trade store goods imported from overseas to be sold in more remote rural areas. Buying those trade store goods is another great way for PNG kina to end up in the hands of the foreigners who made those products.

Yes, there have been many changes. And you want more of the same?

December 26 2011, 10:47 AM

Boy, you are correct. You should read PNG trade accounts and look at the flow of money section umder M3,

You will see 3 TIME MORE MONEY LEAVES PNG THAN IT ENTERS THE COUNTRY.

You see most multinationals are not PNG domciled. They remit profits overseas.

Less than 0.01% PNG Citzens are actual investors in these companies.

Simply put, PNG IS SELLING RESOURCES CHEAP AND SENDING MONEY OVERSEAS.

That is the reason local PNG citzens are poor.
They live grass huts, eat one meal a day, steal.

PNG citzens cannot meet their own needs. Sad story.

I have seen this in African Countries.

Elect Jon Yogiyo, your next EHP GOVERNOR.

For your info, Pacific Helicopters is far from collapsing. I work @ Kutubu and know for a fact they have been enjoying a nice big fat contract with Oil Search for the last few years. A couple of businesses associated with the good Govenor which have blossomed just recently that immediately spring to mind are Rodcliff(construction company which has taken over the sealing of the highway from Covec) and Bose Security (getting alot of contracts for guarding buildings around town, much to the dismay of other locally owned security businesses - you'll see them guarding the Gouna centre in town)

Hmmmm.....yeah I know, I couldn't give you much insight into the financial details of the Pacific helicopters contract as I am just your every day Tom, Dick & Harry wokman, but I'm sure Oil Search wouldn't be giving them peanuts to fly personnel & equipment and have helicopters standing by on location (I counted 5 in their yard yesterday).
Even if it is their only contract it must be a decent one by any standards. Oilfield contracts usually are :)

Hello All Apos and fans of Goroka Secondary School
There has been some well orgainised awareness by ex students of Goroka Sec to build the fire ravaged science lab.
So far, we had a open day at Ela Beach Inter, a dance at Country Club and individual donations to a "trust' account.
Now i heard they'll be a dinner at the dynasty restaurent in POM. This fundraising activities are great however, there is no financial report out yet for the public especially the one's supporting the cause to see.
Can the committee headed by Mr.Edward Omenefa disclose how much has been raised so far?

The simple answer, as Governorm MAL SMITH can:
- cuts deals for his companies
- access to new investors
- access new contacts to assist his projects
- use office of Governor to use laws in his benefit
- move money into tax havens, with not limits

Simply put, there is alot benefit for Mal Smith

Give back. Invest in Youth!

October 17 2011, 9:53 PM

Noero should have tried politics long time ago when he was in his prime PHYSICALLY that is. I mean I love the guy for all the great things hes achieved as a business man.

His business wisdom is unquestionable, but if he was wise in other aspects of his life as he is in business, he would not trouble himself by jumping into PNG's political bandwagon. Its stressful, dangerous, it can smudge and wipe your good reputation in a flash; unless you have all the energy to put up with all these headache and trouble, its not worth the price trying to be a politician.

If you want to contribute to society, its probably more fulfilling to support a charity or some other NGOs whom you are convinced deserve your time and money.

There are few really good NGOs such as Youths of Tomorrow (www.youthsoftomorrow.com). This organisation's main focus is youth development, starting from fourth graders to young adults ( under 20s). They have some very powerful values they want to teach young children who of course are the people who will be running our country.

THis is the same sort of advice i like to give to alot of people out there who want to contribute to our country and think politics is the only way to do that. Politics to this day has fail; its a failed mechanism. If we want to rebuild our nation, we have to invest in our children now. A stark example is Japan. The Japanes rebuilt their nation after the second world war by investing and developing their young generation, teaching them to be better citizens and take ownership of their country and develop an attitude and hunger to compete on the global stage and be the very best. The programs the Japanese taught then are still taught today form fourth grade to twelfth grade.

Step our of the illusion that politics is the only way to contribute to your country's future. Get creative and invest your money, time and effort where it will make the real difference.

Think about it.

Forget Mangi Mosbis

October 27 2011, 12:34 PM

Record show that those who spend their entire life in POM and come back home during election time, stands a zero chance of wining. Weather they win or lus, they will still go back to POM.

I am a Kafe and proud of what Norio has achieved. He is a successful business men respected by all in the country. He has made BSP to what it is now and as a EHP, I am proud of that and see BSP as my bank. However, he has got nothing to show in Kafe and EHP . What has his works ( village, community and district level ) got to show for me to vote him. He can have the national influence but it is the influence and association in the village, community and local level that matters.

Dont be fool because of money and prestige. There are potential local EHPs who have spent their entire life in the province who have their works to show, are capable of leading the province. This are the people we should look for.

Mangi Moresby will always go back to POM. Those of you elites based in POM, please dont kam and fool us na noken toktok planti tumas. Please Concentrate on your bread na bata. Leave politics to us the men on the ground.

Invest in Education

June 10 2012, 5:22 AM

Holdowa what you said is true and bless you for that. Most of us are idiots especially we forgot our social science or history classes and do not learn from Japan. Indeed the Japanese invested in their childrens education. Here in EHP and PNG parents are still struggling to get an descent education. I for one spend all my money on education and have produced many fine man and women serving in various capacities now. I am not a rich man, just a public servant got kicked out for being honest and did mission work and educating my own children is kind of shear hard work but I enjoy it.
Sad to say in order to get assistance is "it is whom you know" and several application to memebers offices end up with "come back next week". My situation went beyond my financial capability so I approached Mr. Smith and he has really helped me out. The problem is we are not approaching him or the office of education in EHP is working in asolation that I do not know. From my recent experince I found Mals to be an approacheble person however reading about what others are saying about him on this blog is different to the person I met and could understand me and bail me out.
The education office in goroka needs to revampt its operations with the political head and advise him. He only knows how to make money and spend it wisely I think thats why for very successful people they have peolpe who say bad things because they themselves wish they can be like him. We are unique in our own ways.
The only thing we can do is rather met the person and get to know them. Some of the candidates running for the regional seat have some bad reputations that I have not right to diclose here but it is us to get facts and figures right and vote right. It is many peolpe that amke the machinary run effectively for now em tasol///////

Jon Yogiyo has been hiding under the pen names PASTOR TOMMY, RESPECT JON YOGIYO etc etc

June 11 2012, 1:39 PM

Jon Yogiyo is clearly a mental case. Something happened and flipped him out and he's the only one here who has been promoting himself for months.

What happened Jon, did you get a severe case of cerebral malaria that affected you or what?

VOTE JON YOGIYO # 24

You all are not from EHP, you live in Port Moresby.

You are such fools, even the dogs on the street are laughing.

Come to me in Goroka and let me call Lord for you and provide the service described. Bring your mother too.

JON YOGIYO IS NONE OTHER THAN PASTOR TOMMY!

June 11 2012, 5:05 PM

Pastro Tommy, if you and Jon Yogiyo were different people, Jon Yogiyo (who uses the internet just like you) would be on this board immediately to denounce the childish way in which you promote him and make him look foolish. But if it's the candidate himself making himself look foolish, of course he wouldn't get on himself, but carr on in his own little dream world, never critisiing himself because he reckons that he's making himself look good on the internet!

Not only that, no one would promote a candidate so consistently day after day, week after week, month after month except for the candidate himself. No one else would waste time at it, no one else would have that kind of motivation except maybe a very very close blood relative.

Finally, no ture pastor would have the money to waste on the internet like you do. But a coffee buyer like Jon Yogiyo would!

PASTOR TOMMY, EVERYTHING ADDS UP - YOU ARE JON YOGIYO!

I did not know that Jon Yogiyo was whiteman.

He must have used really good dirt to rub so he could be brown.

Suprise, people of BENA will not agree with you for that matter from Goroka.

Also, if you so smart come and kiss my lips.

Pastor Tommy your days are numbered.Because you use the name of the Lord God Almighty character in Vain. You are making Mockery of Him. The creator of the universe and mankind. You must understand He his the creator and you are is creation, speck of dust under his fee. He gives life and take away the life of the wicked. Thank you that you are not killed instantly, because of his eternal grace. But you continue to be ignorant, arrogant and put him to test. Thou shall not put thy Lord your God to test say the Lord himself. But you did it!!
