who is farkin clement waine, who gives a dog **** he is brilliant scientist, we have not seen him anywhere here since he was a high school at kerowagi,.
Nogat han mak na nogat toilet lo ples.
He must be member for papua
Wakai we!!Larin Alex Goiye drivim wheels...........My dad is not in front anymore...He showed Wauga and the rest of the guys in Simbu as a white administrator.
I think the emphasis right now is with the current candidates strategising how they're going to stuff the ballot boxes or buy the elections next year without getting caught.
Fr John Garia has nothing to show for the last 5 years, just like all the rest of them "rags to riches" stories. He now has 2 coffee factories and PMV's and consolidated all of Simbu peoples properties, so he is not comming back.
SIMBU NEEDS AN EDUCATED ELITE WHO HAS HANDS ON THE GROUND EXPERIENCE AND WHO LIVES WITH THE PEOPLE AND UNDERSTANDS THEIR EVERYDAY PROBLEMS.
We will find one such; Just like new member for Kundiawa-Gembogl Hon Tobias Kulung
Kulang is already a businessman and that can be bad news. How do you know he won't use his political position to increase his private businesses even more, all the time arguing that he's helping the people and creating jobs when the fact is that he's mostly helping his own pocketbook?
We have had many businessmen turned richer businessmen from their time in politics. Electing businessmen as pollies can be very, very risky.
We have yet to see if that be the case but for now people need roads/bridges/hospitals/schools/medicine/business and Mr Kulung seems to get it all rolling within 2 months of office...whilst doing that his business gains...so what?
Fr John Garia is definately on the way out as his voters (+27,000) in Gembogl have chucked him out and are not voting him back...showed their frustration by burning down his official vehicle.
Clement Waine has failed the people of simbu in the last election and now he comes back expecting peoples support!! Em pekpek man...vote for true leaders like NOAH KUL!! The next for simbu governor NOAH KUL! Winner by landslide!!
Noah Kool will be unstopable. Tell yu the fact is the whole of South Simbu and Bomai are with him. He ran second last election to Garia. This election in 2012 is already going to be a landslide victory for this humbe teacher, kumul player, village leader and very strong SDA man.
The next Governor for Simbu will be Anton Goiye, an educated villager, well desciplined and deeply religious, a family man and hard working. He has all the credentials to be the governor for Simbu so give him the vote.
i hear that Peter KenGemar from Gembogl who is one of PNG's top petrolium engineer is thinking about contesting. if he does, it will be good for Simbu and PNG. We need need a new breed of leaders who have been and seen the world and know how the world ticks to put PNG on the world map. in this modern world, we need leaders who are on the cutting edge in knowledge and technology.
it is not a place for a prist like Garia, a school teacher like Kool and villager like Goiye.
Simbu's economic base is so restricted that we need articulated minds that can "struck water out of the rock". There is no time to waste with people who will occupy sits and waste our time. We need people who can hit the ground running like KenGemar.
he will have overwhelming support from Kundiawa Gembogl. Simbus know how to chooce leaders and when they find out about Kengemar's potentials, there is a good feeling that there will be overwhelming support. The people of Kundiawa Gembogl have decided for the young, vibrant and articulate like Kulang and we are sure KenGemar will join Kulang on the floor after 2012 election. That will tremendious contribution from the province.
Come on Simbu, it is time for change and time to more on.
Peter has the full support of my tribe from boarder to town, he is not only well educated experienced elite but a humble villager and down to earth in his area; go Mr KenGemar my teacher at mining Unitech.
Ol wantok, here is the updated list for Simbu Regional Seat.

2. Mathew siune
3. Waguo goiye
4. Noa kol
5. Anton goiye
6. Peter launa

8. Clement waine?
9. Peter kuman
10. Peter KenGemar

12.
simbus; FYI 3 candidates from same family are rumoured to be preparing to contest the simbu governor seat.
Dr Clement Waine
Mathew Siune (Waine liklik papa)
John Kerenga Gul (Waine cousin)
All from kamaneku tribe
Peter KenGemar is Kundiawa Gembogl man for the Governor sit race for 2012. We are sick and tired of recycled leaders and it is not a family business. We need real people who can deliver.
Totally nonsustainable. How long is that going to last because we see a broken down bus and nothing.
These things have to be institutionalised as a government programme if you want them to last. Otherwise they end up being nothing more than a short term development that collapses. Basically nothing more than a bribe to fool the people into voting for him!
the people of simbu have become smarter than before and no bandaid service (unsustainable) will convince them to retain the current governer. volumes we have seen and heard that Garia is exiting. i will bet on Noah Kool to give him a run for his money
Yeah, right, you'll bet on Noah Kool. Why doncha show everyone here that the people of simbu have become smarter about choosing letters and spell out, line by line, exactly why you support Mr Kool.
We backpage Gumine/Bomah/Nomane dont support Noah; you people get everything all gov services and showoff.
We have our own man for 2 open seats and will support our brother from north. We have seen Fr Louie work; we are preparing to support Peter KenGemar for governor; action speaks louder than words.
Toktok planti maski, yumi lukim long polls na counting room.Yupla ol Simbu King blo conim ol man na kaikai money blo ol candidates.

True Catholics voted Garia, Gembog (18000)/Yongomug (8000)/Kerowagi(11000) voted him, today they are 100% behind their own son. Garia will be out first elimination.
All elites and diehards of Dr Waine; we are preparing for the biggest political event ever in Kundiawa to welcome home their one & only favourite son. SAP WILL field the top elites in PNG to win all 109 seats so we form next government. We will spend K1 billion.
We will make political history.
We will win Simbu regional seat & PM.
Simbus, don't be suprise. Simon Gande is one of those hot candidates contesting. He has massive support from Chuave, Kerowagi ( Gena Waugla, Narku) and Karimiu Sol Nomane. Simple man with the trusts from Simbu with the vision to lead Simbus into the next era. Read The National 31st May 2012.
It's nothing more than a bunch of arsewipe propaganda. Obviously you're either his wantok or someone hoping to get rich off his coat tails.
I think we can safely ignore everything you said.
Anton Goie is not just a villiger like everyone. He is a Structural Auditor and an International Consultant (license is current) with over 25 years of development experience in the Asia Pacific region who operates from his mension in Simbu (waingar). He is one of the 2 PNG's trained by World Bank in proposing/negotiating internation funds from doners. He was the Provicial Planner for Simbu before he resigned in 1992 after successfully writing the proposal and negotiating K25m from IFAD for the North Simbu Rural Development Project. Kundiawa town market is one of the components under NSRDP. Before NSRDP was South Simbu RDP which Anton Goie initiated and successfuly got K5. Mr. Goie also iniatiated and successfully acquired 700000German Marx in 1982 and built the Urr Water supply and pipeline to Kundiawa. He also acquired the funds for the Kondom Agaundo building under the leadership of Mathew Siune in 1980.he has worked as a consultant to most of the doners seeking development advise for projects in PNG..He is Simbu's best Development engineer..he has iniatiated so many projects in Simbu and has 'han mak' all over Simbu. Anton Goie also provides structural auditoring to all the mining companies in PNG and advises both government and mining companies on community development issues. He is a very humble man who operates from his village and a deeply dedicated Catholic with strong catholic back ground..ANTON GOIE is the BEST candidate for the Simbu GOVERNOR seat..
I am pleased you asked to know more about Mr. Anton Goie..After his resignation in 1992, he served as consultant to several provincial governments. one of his projects was the Kandrian to Gloster Water Supply project for WNBP. He also setup the Western Province Capacity Building Project for WP which eventually led to the creation of the OK Tedi Mine Closure Committee in which he became team leader and later advisor to the committee and OTML managment & WP government. WPCBP became the main avenue for transforming income from the OK Tedi mine to infrastructural development in WP. He was the only PNG consultant in a team of internationl consultants who did the initial feasibility studies for the current LNG project (under Chevron Niugini)and he strongly argued against the PNG-Queensland gas pipeline (which was initially proposed for the LNG projects, if you can remnember)thus the plan was aborted and now the LNG will be processed and exported onshore. This is one of his silent achievments. When Oil Search took over Chevron Niugini, Anton Goie was consulted again as their structural auditor and he set up the CDI foundation, which (CDI) became the main bridge for all community development projects through OSL revenue. he has also served Pogera mine in designing their resettlement arrangments and other mines in PNG on structural adjustments before contesting the election. Still in the 1990's he successfully negotiated funds for the Simbu Church Health Services which resulted in Mingendi health center upgrading its status to Hospital. Under this funds, the church health services expansion program lead to health centers being established/maintained/upgraded in Goglme, Bogo,Kendine,Wangoi,Nondri,Dirima,Denglagu,Mai etc...we always see those land cruisers ambulances with 'Church Health Services' written on it was from the project Mr. Anton Goie initiated. in 2010 - 2012 (before he contested), he initiated and negotiated K2.3m from EU for rural water supply and senitation project in which 15 sites all over simbu benefitted. to name a few of the site, Mai, Neregaim, Dimbai, Dulai, Denglagu, Kurmugl, Ombondo,etc...Mr. Anton Goie has 'han mak' all over Simbu..just because of his undisputed humbleness, he does not boast about what he has done for Simbu...I've known him as a colleague and a friend and i know that he is Simbu's best 'Development Engineer'..he is as sharp as a razor when it comes to development issues..if we want development, there is no one better than Mr. ANTON GOIE..
Yes, he is coming with 1 billion kina and 200 land cruisers.
He will get the USA to build missile defence shield in Simbu when he is PM in 5 months time.
Get ready Simbu!
Its about time our politicians don't become brief case carriers and number boys in parliament.
Support your own party and son.
Tangina mok wakai we dumna.

All the so called itellects and people with money don't control the polling booths, it's us the drug and steam bodies who control it and this time we will give it to Noah Kool.
Fr Garia can go back to his former job or run his PMV bus service.
clement waine is not running for simbu governorship. he breached the electoral commission law once again and this time a candidate to be eligible to run for elections he/she had to lived in png for more than 6-months. simple laws being ignored ...another 2007. so FORGET CW
These two, Noah Kool and Peter KenGemar are not the only ones, any more qualified Simbus.
Don't mention the good CW and SAP, they are history and the biggest all time disgrace to all the people of Simbu Province.
no one was able to answer me so i asked and searched who Peter KenGemar is;
Fellow Simbus I am humbled to know today we have many good potential leaders. He is one of the many and if Peter does contest the regional seat we all should support him.
Peter's credentials; education and experience both local and international are bert
Stop this nonsense about describing a candidates qualifications in general (=useless) terms. Don't tell us he is well educated, has good character, blah blah blah, because that's what is said about all the corrupt politicans.
Give specifics. Share details. Otherwise expect us to believe that you're ust another wantok trying to paint a beautiful picture of someone who, in reality, probably isn't very beautiful at all.
If you do this posting again, I wanna see DETAILS.
FYI Fr Garia is dishing cash for small road projects, give materials for small agri projects and building materials for schools & churches as we speak now. He has the cash to play and he is on the ground doing it today.
Therefore people like Dr Clement Waine & Kerenga Gul are all con candidates, they pose no treat to the effective paterr.
to SAPHausman.
Tokim SAP, mipela laikim USA Army Jeep. THe Landcruisers are no match to the roads.
Otherwise, Keep dreaming....
Looks like Chimbus are emotional wrecks when it comes to cargoe cultist talks.
Get it straight: facts are facts. Moses Kuman is a pisspot and a womaniser, and an empty head.
People of Simbu & PNG have suffered enough through people like him going to Parliment.
Simbu will today elect real leaders and Moses does not fit the bill.
I as a fellow kamkus am ashamed that you even suggest Moses.
Peter KenGemar has the humility, discipline and lives in the village and flies to work : be it South Africa, Saudi Arabia or Mozambigue.
He is as much as villager as he is a global citizen and big name in the world geology scene.
First Papua New Guinean to be employed by Saudi Aramco in Al Khobar Saudi Arabia - left work at his own accord to run for elections. Has bigger vision and dreams not only for Simbu but for PNG.
Amazing inspiring individual - givim long em Simbu.
You wont regret, the guy does not need your money but has passion and fire for change in Simbu and PNG.
Peter KenGemar for Simbu Regional.
Ha, ha ha! You're the same fellow putting up a reply to your own posting! Never in reality on PNGSCAPE will you find 2 people on line at exactly the same time from exactly the same region, reading eactly the same posting.
You're a fraud! And that indicates to me that you're supporting a fraud, Mr Peter KenGemar!
Dont worry about Kengemar, he is no treat to Fr Garia or your candidate. he is from jupitar and he is not seen anywhere in gembogl to base his votes.
He is probably somewhere overseas and we dönt know if he will come home to cöntest. He must be another armchair pollie like you and me.
Peter is the dark horse in the Governorship race. He is not known but he brings to the race a rare quality of technical and professional back ground as one of the few outstandng petrolium engineer Simbu and PNG has ever produced. During this time of Oil and Gas development explosion, we desperately need the contribution of someone like Peter. Peter has been to the world and has seen how other similar countries like PNG who are blessed with so much resources like Saudi Arabia etc have organised themselves to take full advantage of the natural resources development.
it is not the time to play politics. it is time to allow our best man to come forward and provide the effective leadership needed right now. We are living in a fast changing world and technology has taken over every aspect of life. We need leaders who are on the cutting edge and are relevant during this age to provide the meaningful and relevant leadership.
i have alot of respect for everyone who is putting their hands up to contest as it is their democratic right to do so. However, the bottom line is, we need leaders who can deliever.
Peter will not disappoint us if he is given the mandate. He is Gembogl's tramp card and he is got over 30,000 voters behind him. Check for yourself and you will find out that there is no Governship candidate from Gembogl's two LLG of Mitnande and Niglkande. We are behind him and we trust the rest of Simbu will soon find out about this rare find and will enlist their support.
it is time for Simbu to show case our best to the world.
So Kengemar is a rare kind and dark horse.
Well thats your candidate so you back him and call him all kinds of names.
Any more candidates for Simbu Governors seat.
Kundiawa Gembolg is on the floor
Peter Waienge did not do anything when he was member for KG.
He is a thief and will always be a theif , regardless of Narku tribe..
They deserve better.
IM menda Endo!
seriously, im menda doh. so-called political science degree whatsoever, bladi phuck'n waste of 5 years with Waieng the last time. This is no time to phuck around, get real.
Yu askim long Peter Kengemar? Em disla man em makim wannpla pisin. Tail long het wara na body long nilkande, na hap wing long yongomugl na hap gena kerowagi na em ready lo fly. Ol lain long back page singaaut pinis.
Peter KenGemar is a Petroleum Geologist. He is one of the Geologists that discovered ELK Gas in the Gulf Province while contracted with Inter Oil. He drilled through lime stone and discovered the oil and gas.
Later he was employed by a Government owned oil company in Dubai for some years and returned to Gembogl in around 2010 or 2011.
I am from Chuave West Elimbari and strongly support him because of the following:
1. He is a Christian
2. He is a non-smoker
3. He is a non-drinker
4. He is a non-gambler
5. He is a non-womeniser
6. Good Family man (Married One wife)
7. He is eloquent
8. University Graduate
9. Possesses Entrepreneurship skills.
My family will vote for him whether he wins or not does not matter. We want to vote for a person who is like ourselves so that if he goes to Parliament he can behave like us.
We do not care about your money or wealth, we care about our future and future of our children.
Gembogl block your 1st votes for Peter KenGemar. We (Elimbari) will give you the wining votes 2 and 3. We will give 1 to our own candidates but 2 and 3 for Peter KenGemar. I can secure about 500 to 1,000 1st votes for you.
Most of what you said is very impressive about Peter.
However, you're also making up some stuff which makes me wonder how much of everything you put is made up?
For example: Peter KenGemar did NOT "drill through lime stone and discover the oil and gas". These kinds of discoveries and events involve literally hundreds of geologists, working in more than one country. If Peter told you "he" discovered Elk, then we can safely assume that he is a braggard and too proud of himself.
We need humble people as our leaders, not braggards.
Also, what is this "government owned" oil company that he was employed with? What government?
I'm not sure how much a petroleum geologist knows about politics, or whether they have the right qualifications for that rough and dirty world. However, I appreciate you spending the time to write out all his qualifications.
We now must evaluate if what you said was correct.
Thank you Skelim Na Luksave for your comment. I would like to respond to your three comments separately.
1. I did not say that only Peter KenGemar discovered the ELK oil and gas. I said Peter KenGemar was ONE OF THE GEOLOGISTS. Meaning he was one of the many Geologists involved. Even drilling the lime stone.
2. He worked with Abu Dhadi National Oil Company (ADNOC) owned by United Arab Emirates (UAE). UAE is comprised of Seven (7) 'emirates' or states.(Contact him for more detail).
3. You are not sure how he can handle politics. Our forefathers did it, we can do it. Kondom Agaundo was an iliterate,Iambakey Okuk was a mechanic, Fr. Louis Ambane was a Priest. Why not Peter KenGemar or you and me. We can make it, only if we beleive in ourselves.
I did not make up things. Maybe I did not put it properly.
Chuave Stone, such a candidate as Peter Kengemar is what we need more off. Just a correction as a family friend and workmate, Peter Kengemar was the Operations geologists at the time of Elk1 discovery and was the principal geologist to discover the deposit. He worked not only in Dubai but in the giant oil and gas fields of Saudi Arabia as a consultant to Saudi Aramco the oil company owned by the king of Saudi Arabia, He left at his own will, WHY??? we will never know unless we ask the man himself. I for one know that if I had a job that lucrative I would not leave. But knowing Peter, he left for a greater cause. Men like him work and live their lives not controlled by the money and glamour that the world offers but by a greater calling in life and purpose that drives them to see beyond today but the tomorrows of our children and their childrens children. He is not a name that I would thrash around and debate in our petty little debates. He is one of the few above reproach, with integrity and values that most of us lack. If he choose to run for the office of Governor of Simbu then thumbs up to him. Simbu needs men like him.
Spread the Word, Impressed has rightfully summarised Peter's background and his heartfelt desire.
I cannot say no more having known Peter over those donkey years.
Mate I am from Kunabau and I will not let you down. Yu have my extended families' 1st votes.
Chuave Stone; your candidate has support from Yongomul, solid support from Kerowagi. Gembogl is private. He is the most talked about candidate now.
He will get support from Karimui/salt nomane for obvious reasons.
yes mi too saportim Peter KenGemar....got all the qualities to be a governor..
educated, experienced - both in PNG and overseas in all sectors ie. education, public, private and sole.
He is down to earth and he really can look at the big picture and think out of the box..simbu wont go wrong if he goes in.
One vote for you Mr KenGemar
GOOD CHANCE - WAGUO GOIYE, THOMAS TUMUN, NOAH KOOL, MATHEW SUINE
March 22 2012, 10:09 PM
Fr John Garia has lost the plot and he is unlikely to retain the SImbu Provincial Seat.
One of the likely candidate to win will be Thomas Tumun, Waguo Goiye, Noah Kool or Mathew Suine.
Why Thomas Tumun? Thomas Tumun has been with Simbu education dept for a long time and has good following. He scored very well in last elections. However, his tribes have been involved in conflicts and that will affect his chances. Otherwise lookout for Thomas Tumun.
Why Waguo Goiye? Waguo Goiye has strong following and popularity and he is regarded as one of the Fathers of PNG National Party. He has been working hard to bring National Party into Government in 2012. Waguo Goiye has widespread appeal and network with both old and young within Simbu and outside Simbu. Waguo has worked closely with Late Joe Mek Teine and therefore Waguo Goiye has good following with National Party supporters and good support from Kundiawa/Gembogl, Yongmugl, Chuave, and South Simbu areas. He stands a very good chance of scoring well in the elections or even winning Simbu provincial seat.
Why Noah Kool? Noal Kool has been a teacher for long time and also maintains strong relations with Simbus. He has good following with SDAs. He has done well in last elections and stands a good chance. He has good followings outside Gumine. However his tribesmen have been engaged in tribal wars using high powered and a lot of people have been killed. This may affect his chances. However, his is a strong contender.
Why Mathew Suine? Mathew Suine maintain popularity as a former MP, Minister and Premier. He is the father of Kundiawa town and he is a bit of a rough guy too. His tough guy character and strong campaign techniques may win him the votes. Believe me he also has strong support. He has good chance of winning too. Lookout for him too.
Over to you all now! Add more details about other candidates!
We are not talking about recycled or used by date leaders.
Simbus need to be one step ahead or keep phase with the modern world around us.
These scenarios provoked us to get one of so many cute and capable modern
Simbu leaders who can address tribes men politics but always in the fore-front
in the advancing globe, in other words he can see both sides of the coin.
Recycle na ol lapun yupla callim name nabout yah maski...we are in 2012...wake up Simbu...the world is advancing with wireless everything...why you want to go back 20 years???? votim man igat save long ples, town na world....atleast em iken readim na understandim na questenim ol liklik paper igo long bikpla technical documnet...history na driman maski....pls inap long nek sigirap or pride na votim man husait ken move with the rest of the world...Out long olgeta canidate mentioned so far em still 1st preference blong mi stap yet long Mr KenGemar...ol lain long hetwara, make no mistake, rot blong yupla bagarap pinis so blokim long antap...
Maski mekim planti maus wara nambaut. Yu know from experience, taim chuave laik unit, bai yu nonap winim em. For your information, 2012 Simbu Govenor is for a Chuave Candidate. I will not mention his name here, but it will be a surprise for all. I personally dont talk about candidates here because people use abusive words and dont seem to understand the meaning behind this forum. So fellas and ladies, keep talking about your candidates here and mi bai lap lo yupla. To all Chuave people, keep it secret and we will unite for only one candidate for Simbu Regional. Relax and mind your own business. Whenever you laik refresh your mind, come to this column and read the above postings and laugh tasol lo ol lain ya.Em pasin ya, bai yumi kisim natin tru!
all parts of Chuave are broken up, we will not and never unite as our politics is dirty if you dont know, too many corruption and also jealousy pulap lo yumi. Other districts can unite, never us!!
By looking at your words..i doubt you are a true Chuave. I see that you are pretending here hence sending dubious informaton. Real Chuave will not speak like a pessimist. Please be real in this column. Even you can try...pasin bai stap yet. Chuave bai blokim -Simbu Governor em blo mipla.
Bro, you must be speaking to us via satelite from space. Iam on the ground and from what we see here; Chuave is fragmented because of some of the latest events and deep seated resentment last 2 elections...do I have to spell out for you every thing. Elibari and Siane are fragmented from our brothers along the highway and the story is same all over. Open seat politics is fragmenting the rest, we cannot unit now.
Forget the useless political campaign in this blog and go to the polling boot..kain tasol na upla save votim ol clown man osem jeffery nape....ston faces..
You are participating in a modern day cargo cult. I know you don't realise it but you're voting for someone with absolutely no idea whether they're able to do the kind of negotiation and horse trading required of politics. The reason why you're voting this person is because you have a dreamland that he's going to bring cargo to Simbu. You will be sadly disappointed just like all cargo cultists have been thru history.
I think we all have to face the sad fact that the only people who are contesting and have a chance of winning are SPIVS. None of them are going to end up helping Simbu or PNG......but they have a great chance at becoming multimillionaires!
OOOOOOOOOOOOOO The STAR had eventually landed and is shinning out brightly out and wide for the people SIMBU and PNG as a whole, welcome Dr Clement Waine and the STARS
The Simbus have moved on from 2007.Clement Waine taim blong u stret em 2007 we ol Simbu hangre long votim u na uno stap..U might as well catch the late flight back to USA and let Noah Kool n Kengmar fight it out..These two candidates are more popular than anyother candidates based on popular appeal and real situation on the ground..Clement Waine/Kerenga Gul n Moses Kuman coming from one hausman are challenging the Regional seat..ah..ah upla wokim stret ya na mekim ol Kamaneku look more clever..
Yah, what dumb shiats like you haven't figured out is that Noah Kool and Kengmar are competing to see who gets the golden 5 year opportunity to steal their way into easy retirement and comfortable life. They could give a shiat about the people, for them its all about personal greed finally being satisfied if they can only go thru the golden doors of parliament.
Back in 2007 your name was heard and touched beyond boundaries, however your childish action in not nominating in person and vanished back to USA left alot of your candidates and valued supporters in despair and out of control, some of the STAR ALLIANCE candidates and supporters had to dig deeper and the result was obvious, none won.
Mind you in Simbu you have to stand by your friend in good or in bad times, YOU LET THEM DOWN, NOW IS THEIR TIME FOR PAYBACK....I will be surprise if you do get any votes.
As for now the race for the regional is headed by Peter Kengemar and Noah Kool, the sitting governor would still be in the race, though his popularity has sank.
Whadda Laugh you can laugh as loud as you can but I doubt your statement.Get your house in order and put one candidate up for the race from the Kamenuku tribe.Upla planti we...Kengmar is a highly educated petroleum engineer and he is no small ****..Try and read earlier postings to get background information on both candidates..
What the f--k does being a "highly educated petroleum engineer" have to do with being an effective politician? You're proposing someone that would be great in the government bureaucracy, maybe even at the secretarial level of the Dept. of Petroleum and Mining. But NOT as a pollie! Don't you even know what politicians have to do in order to be effective - the real qualities of real pollies?
Kengmar has all the qualities of good leader.Political culture have changed and people are begining to be naturally drawn to candidates who are family man with strong intergrity.Time had tested him in his working life both within and outside of the country. We do not need a trained pollie to lead us..Politics is not a technical work..We want people with intergrity and strong characters to get in and deliver the needed service.Enough is enough... Gembogl is putting their hands up and asking for strong challenge.
I am still of the opinion that Dr. Waine is the Best Qualified candidate for a change in simbu and PNG.Though he has let us down in 2007, we must not be dictated or controlled by our emotions. If we are really desperate for change and development. He should be given another chance. Dr Waine's accomplishments speaks for itself. It's only natural for people who produce results to continue to produce results. From most of his writtings he seems to understand and describe very well on what has happened in the past (history), the present and is able to predict what is likely to happen in the future. This is the way leaders should be thinking and seeing things. They should be able to predict trouble and lead us out of trouble. It is very sad to see that educated people are not able to come up with good arguments on this forum.
I am here speaking for myself.I am from Sinasina and I would't let myself down by voting for someone else.Even if CW looses this election, I would be satisfied that I am putting my X on the right candidate. I have my own principles to live on and am have already forgiven CW for the 2007 episode. I look at Dr. Waine as a Person, not his clan, tribe or his electorate. Don't look at his failures but look at what he is capable of. If you look for a perfect candidate you will not find one.
Dr. Clement Waine : Trail-blazing at Du Pont, USA
(By Malum Nalu)
Papua New Guinean scientist Dr Clement Waine is blazing the trail as a research biologist and Principal Investigator with the Du Pont Crop Genetics Research and Development in the USA.
And he feels there is a growing pool of highly trained PNG scientists whose skills can be used for cutting-edge research.
Dr Waine believes pharmaceutical research should be carried out into harnessing our rich biodiversity to develop new medicines,
pharmaceutical and agrochemical products.
Dr Waine - from Kurumugl village, outside Kundiawa, Chimbu Province - has been at Du Point since September 2001, first as a visiting research scientist and from last September as research biologist.
"My expertise is in Structural Biology of Proteins so I lead our group in this area," he says.
"I am also leading the Plant Protein Discovery Group.
"In both responsibilities, we have international collaborators in several countries that I also oversee.
"I also provide expert advice to other groups within the company as well as line agencies of USA Government on product registration and regulatory approvals."
From September 2001 to August 2002, Dr Waine was a visiting research scientist with Du Pont Crop Genetics.
"I was recruited as a visiting scientist in September 2001 and I was involved in building the structural biology facility, especially the computational tools for molecular graphics, display and modelling from the ground up," he explains.
"We now have in-house capabilities for structural biology - protein structure determination and modelling.
"I have also developed and standardised for in-house use protein extraction protocols for discovering bioactive proteins from plant sources.
"Using these protocols I have discovered several novel protein molecules that destroy specific crop pests and these are now moved up the product development pipeline.
"We hope to develop several products in the next few years."
Dr Waine was born in Mendi, Southern Highlands, on April 27, 1969.
He attended Agle Primary School in his Chimbu Province from 1977 to 1982, followed by Kerowagi High School from 1983 to 1986.
Grades 11 and 12 followed at Sogeri National High School in 1987 and 1988.
The young Clement Waine completed his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at the University of Papua New Guinea in 1992 and his Honours in 1993.
From 1997 to 2000, the University of Queensland, where he completed his PhD, employed him as a research scholar.
Dr Waine was awarded his PhD degree at the age of 30 years, making him perhaps PNG’s youngest PhD graduate.
He returned to UPNG after completing his PhD and was teaching undergraduate physical chemistry and supervising one post-graduate diploma student until recruited by Du Pont where he has been since.
Dr Waine has established himself as one of the few highly-trained and knowledgeable PNG scientists with an international credibility and reputation; pioneered the discovery of a novel class of protein while undergoing Phd research; figured out how best to solve a highly intractable computational problem while still doing Honours research; and has published over 20 papers in international scientific publications.
"During my PhD research," he recalls, "I pioneered the discovery of a novel class of protein that I called ‘cyclotide’ in my thesis.
"My thesis was the world’s first comprehensive report describing the discovery and characterisation of these proteins and was reviewed internationally.
"Conventional proteins, as ordinary people know, are long chains but cyclotides are formed like necklace with the two ends stitched together forming a ring structure.
"At this point in time, nobody knows how the ends are stitched together and my best guess is that whoever discovers the mechanism will be a millionaire some day!
"The research I started at University of Queensland is now expanded to involve 17 other students and researchers.
"Several other labs are involved around the world.
"This discovery was patented in USA/Canada, Australia, Japan, China and Europe and two spin-off companies were formed in Australia."
At UPNG in 1993, Dr Waine figured out how best to solve a highly intractable computational problem.
"The results were patented in Canada and a spin-off company was formed to market the patent," he recalls. "Applications are numerous and varied, including detection of incoming missiles and ideally suited for the patriot defence system developed by US Defence Department.
"For instance, I was answering such questions like " if several missiles were projected towards a common enemy from different locations, how could the common enemy defend it by sending counter-missiles to intercept the trajectories?
"A paper was published in 1997 - it was initially submitted in 1995 but people never thought such a work could be done in PNG!
"After asking around we located the paper in a professor’s lab in a North American university and retracted it.
A second submission after we were out of PNG was eventually published.
"Did the world believe that no advanced science could ever come out of UPNG, not to mention PNG?"
Dr Waine believes that PNG, as a nation, needs a paradigm shift in its people’s attitudes based on honesty, respect and hard work.
He also believes that PNG needs politicians who are 'lateral thinkers' and not 'cyclic thinkers'.
Dr Waine is of the view that since independence, government investment/expenditure on development of pure and applied research in PNG has been non-existent.
"There are two areas that I think the Government should consider as a matter of critical importance and start investing in them - Information Technology (IT) and BioTechnology (BT)," he says.
"There are two products that are currently selling like hot cakes around the world - mobile phones and seeds - both are products of IT and BT, respectively.
"BT-related investments can be channelled into two fronts - pharmaceutical and agriculture.
He continues: "The Government now has a policy - at least a publicly stated view - on the so-called ‘Green Revolution’, which is anticipated to increase investment and productions in agriculture.
"I suggest that they should incorporate a research component and support/fund existing institutions like NARI.
"Pharmaceutical researches should be geared towards harnessing the country’s rich biodiversity in order to develop new medicines/ pharmaceutical and agrochemical products.
"My estimate is this: if the Government invests K10-30 million in both agriculture and pharmaceutical researches every year, PNG scientists could come up with products that could be licensed to large corporations for further development.
"In this way, the nation will gain substantially from licensing fees and royalties.
"This could in fact become one of the biggest exports for the country.
"This notion would be a lateral thinking one!
"There is now a critical mass of highly trained PNG scientists, both in academia and other statutory and private agencies that can be pooled and funded to do cutting-edge research.
"The Government needs to realise this potential and invest in it."
I will be brief, from on the ground Dr Paul Moia Kia and Peter KenGemar are the hottest regional candidates.
Kia has a committed base votes of 10,000 going in and will certainly fight for 2 na 3 from weak candidates.
They're all trying for the 5 year lotto winning ticket to become a multi-millionaire. They all see that any MP can steal and only the stupidest ever get caught, with no MP actually going to prison. Simbu is the province with the most kon man so thats why so many are trying for the chance to get super rich.
Dr.Waine can claim that he is the best but alot of voters feel that they were betrayed in 2007 election. The time when the people need him most one never showed up and even apologize for his failure to turn up.Dr.Clement had shown a bad sign of his character. You can be highly educated but that does not mean anything to us the voters when we smell that you are not a strong person in character. We want leaders who can be true to their words and even say sorry when it is necesarry.Upla hapim save istap em gutpla..tasol mipla planti voters laikim save wantaim strongpla pasin..Simbu Regional em stap long han blo Peter Kengmar na Noah Kool nau.Wanpla blo tupla bai win...Mondia Muglo
Mr. Anonymous. You seem to be talking about your tribes man on this forum for this Simbu Governor. Hope he wins this election for the better. Lets read what others would say about other candidates for this post.
My advise to you is to conduct an intensive survey right across the province so you will have fair grounds to support your predictions.
Many viewers from all around the globe have access to this website and they have something to address in this forum. Let them share what they thought about the election in the Highlands.
Mangi Souths, Elimbari too has support for Peter KenGemar. We will give our 1s to our candidates but 2s and 3s Peter will collect.
Please Peter distribute your posters to Chuave. Tour the the three LLGs, Chuave, Siane and Elimbari. The road is ok you just need to tour the district a day.
Please anyone knows Peter's mobile phone let me know.
Bomai gan, can you confirm support for regional candidate Mr. Anton Goie in Chuave...am hearing that he has toured the three LLG's in the district and has acquired good support there.
Just forget about anybody and send Dr.Clement Waine as Simbu governor to the parliament. Simbu people must forgive and forget about the 2007 incident. We are all humans who have our own strengths and weaknesses.
PNG needs Dr. Waine so give him the mandate and PNG being blessed with hydrocarbons and metals will prosper with this kind of leaders who have the brain to empower young and intectual Papua New Guineas to tap into the opportunities that our abundant resources provides.
We need leaders who can think outside of the box......and I see the good dr. has it all... Lets make use of this man brain and together with other like minded can transformed this nation.
Please I urge all Simbus to vote in Dr. Waine...........declare him by surprise in the 1st preference.
Nationalist, obviously you are not from Simbu..i agree with you that he's got the brains and true, he can think outside the box for a better Simbu..however,there are some battles he has to fight out before he is mandated by the people. 1) he is contesting against his cousin for the same seat thus his base is split. 2) there are three candidates from his clan all contesting so others are saying 'are they the only ones for Simbu?'which means people are rteluctant to vote in people from the same tribe (same situation is also faced by another regional candidate Mr. Noah Kool) 3) His campaign and policies are all refered to example in the US...US's and PNG's economic/social/legal environments are totally different...people are saying he is 'dreaming the impossible'..4) like you said it, Dr. Waine let everyone down in 2007...there are some other reasons too..Simbu's do need someone of the calibre of Dr. Waine but at the moment he's got his backyard mixed up so am predicting his chances for winning is slim...
Yes...we dont need dreamers to represent Simbu...totally agree..we need people who knows how to do the work, people who knows what Simbu people need and people who can deliver and knows how to deliver..and/or people who have deliverd much needed services to the People and are now seeking the peoples mendate to deliver in a greater volume..
Political trend in PNG & Simbu has changed over time
June 19 2012, 11:23 AM
Friend,
you may be right recall the leadership of Sir OKUK in his 70s and 80s.
Today, in this 21st century, the leadership trend is rapidly changing and ours leaders too need adjustments and new leadership styles to cope with the change!
When this is happening, we would realize that some of our traditional leadership sytles that we inherit from our ancestors and fore fathers may not be applicable.
Our great leaders in the past did it because the leadership environment and the condition was good for them to create names in our communities and the country as a whole.
So now the leadership style is very different and in fact PNG LEADERS need to "think outside of the box" to be smart and competitent leaders at the local, national and international political arena.

Thinking outside the box in certain ways condemns good people to failure.
The fact is that so many years of the government not delivering services is what has created the free for all we have right now everywhere in PNG where voters are demanding to have their votes bought and the candidates are gladly doing it with money stolen from somewhere.
Thinking outside the box in this instance condemns you to losing. Only the excellent game players are winning at the current game that has been created by the realities on the ground. The rulz of the game are very sad but if you don't play by the rulz you don't win and you don't get the power you're desiring.
The fact is that effective leadership at the NGO level (churches, etc) would have far more power to force the pollies to start performing than anyone working within the system can ever achieve. But for some reason (is it traditional?) we all think that the only way to make change is to become a bigman-in this case, an MP.

Thinking outside of the box simply means to challenge the status quo and not being in the comfort zones. Yes, we can see that the NGO's and the Churches can provide some hope for good leadership but after all they all seem to compromise and we all fall into the same trap.
Therefore, PNG has to think outside of the box..........we need some sort sof leadership that will short circuit all the duplicated policies and processes in the bureaucrattic systems without abusing democracy and thus upholding the constitution of the land.
The of the concept is to address corruption and prone out bad leaders.
You got me right! I am a outsider and now I understand why it is so!
Without doubt, God is fair and blessed Simbus with brains and therefore I believe there are alot of similar brains like Dr. Clement Waine.
I now see that Dr. Waine must put his priority right to respect the people of Simbu and the other candidates alongside him. Ol man tu yah.........yu save ol gat felins na blut...
So far so Good!
Go ahead and elect a Smart Simbu Governor in the likes of Sir Iabaki Okuk............Without doubt, simbus are firebrains and send a saviour to revive this beuatiful nation of ours............our home, sweet home...PNG.
Iambaki Okuk was simply a loud mouth, a very loud argumentative person. In the 1970s that strategy worked very very well. Today he would be as hopelessly ineffective as the other pollie loudmouths we have. Namah is effective at keeping power because he's such a loudmouth, and also stealing money. But being a loudmouth doesn't ultimately inspire the people to follow and put in the sacrifice and hard work that is essential for lasting development.
We need to have someone from Simbu again on the National front. Generally, the Quality of leaders we are producing at the moment cannot match those from Southern Highlands, Western Highlands and Enga. Traditionally we are Leaders, this is not the same anymore. We need someone who can lead both Simbu and PNG.Dr Waine is the one that stands out for me.
Signs are very clear now.Dr. Clement will loose and will be in the first 10 to be eliminated. Most of us who use pngscape feels that he is the right person to get the job. However reality check has proven otherwise.Gembogl from Kii border to Mondia pass is not giving him good support so this will cause his downfall. If he had Gembogl popupation at his back together with Kamenekus/Town and Eduglas at his side then he can put up a strong challenge but this is not the story now..Its a sorry story so lets pray for a miracle..SORI
