This morning's hilarious full page colour adverts for JEFFREY NAPE & DON POLYE
June 12 2012 at 8:28 AM
The National
The 2 adverts are hilarious in their own way.
Jefferey Nape is featured from head to toe in a wrinkled suitcoat and trousers. He can't even button his suitcoat he's so fat!!!!!!! And too bad we can see his shoes cos they haven't been polished!!!! In any other country, people would think he came off the street with donated clothes!. Our corrupt Nape makes sure he uses all the right buzz words in his advert: LEADERSHIP, STRONG AND STABLE GOVERNMENT, STRONG LEADERSHIP, NEW DIRECTION. Would Nape have a clue how to achieve any of this? All that a strong and stable government gives PNG is plenty of time for the pollies to learn how to steal more and more money. That's STABILITY!!!!
The Polye advert shows better smarts, but then again, who would be stupider than Jefferey Nape!!!! Polye realises how fat he looked in the last advert so now we only see his face. Unlike the stupid Nape, Polye is smart enough to always have his long beard which effectively covers up the double or triple chins that he's developed through sheer greed and gluttony. Polye's advert is titled "It's time for a new beginning" then everything listed after that are the same empty campaign promises like we've gotten from every single pollie for how many years now? To Polye's credit, he again gives what the stupid T.H.E. stands for in his advert but his campaign promises, are pretty laughable:
* Be transparent and fight corruption (the corrupt Polye is gonna do this???!!!!!)
* Strengthen and support the family unit (how many wives does Polye have? is it truly only one with no girlfriends on the side????!!!!)
* Provide opportunities for human development (what the hell does that mean??!?!!?!?!)
* Provide free basic education (yeah, basic education. we already have that in thousands of rural schools where students leave Grade 6 knowing BASICALLY NOTHING!!!!!!)
* Provide improved health care (you mean there's gonna be more than panadol on the shelves??????? WOW, big improvement!!!)
* Assist with affordable, permanent housing for all (now THAT's a cargo cult promise... although probably Polye is thinking of the "affordable, permanent housing" of POM's squatters with their tin roof shacks.
* Boast law and order (promised by every MP and PM in PNG since the beginning of time!!!!)
* Grow a diversified economy (you mean the rich will continue to get richer and relax away at the cinema every weekend while the poor will continue to get poorer? Yep, THAT's definitely a diversified economy!!!!!!!)
Fellow PNGs, we are not new to such cargo cult pollicies circulated by so called power hungry politicians. We've heard and seen them talking too much to attract peoples' attentions and gain figures to become an MP. Politicians are propagandas, they talk too much and you could see their salivers popping out of their mouths as they talk, funny ha !!
One funny thing about most PNGs especially those ones at the village I should say and a hand full of educated ones don't really care about the long term effect we would face for electing corrupt people into power. The onus goes down to us as voters for being very stupid.
In the case of Don Polye and Jeffery Nape some of their political cronnines described them as evil and corrupt. They accept briberies in order to approve claims and make decisions in favour of those at their backs. There are other leaders who are doing the same. The trend here is those who are rich will become richiest and those who are poor will become slaves in their own land. This will happen not long away from today, you mark my words!!!
When will PNGs change our ways of nipotism, tribesman ship, family ties etc.???? Don't you know that this nation is heading from bad to worse? The upper classes will find refuge off shore but what about those of us who are below their level?? Where are we heading to ???
STOP BEING A FOOL PNGs. IF WE WANT CHANGES IN PNG WE MUST CHANGE OURSELVES AND WE WILL BE ABLE TO ELECT GOOD LEADERS WHO HAVE THE HEARTS FOR THE PEOPLE THEY REPRESENT AND WHO LOVE'S THE PEOPLE THEY SERVE. WHEN LEADERS HAVE PASSIONS AND LOVE FOR THE PEOPLE, WE WILL NEVER BE THE SAME TOMORROW.
OVER TO YOU PNGs.....FOR A CHANGE IN PNG WE MUST DISCUSS.
The problem is that we are somewhat childish in our actions and our priorities. It is more fun to compare pollies and talk about 'the hottest' instead of talking about their qualifications, because that would require some thinking and intellect which most of us simply don't have. We got a terrible education in school and now look at us - look at how da educated elite writes on these boards, how superficially we all think. We just never developed our brains during those all important years growing up.
And thats why we don't approach our problems very systematically or looking much in detail. Yes, some wantoks have those capabilities and do things right but they're a small minority, just look around you at all the messes we create on a daily basis because of our lack of interest, knowledge, attention etc.
Imagine the triple impact that will have in the community, work places and anyway people live when each an individual person in this very important forum start to change his or her way of thinking, the common mindset...............
Becoming a solution in the particular environment we live in...is challenging the status quo and think and act outside the box.
In every environment we live, there are people and they also need to be changed in the way they think and behave as well.
When they see us as role models and change agents, they too will start to observe us closely and try to imitate the good personalities in us.
People will see us as lights to the organization and come seek help from us, then we instill the language of change into their minds and hearts and there they will do the same things to the others whom they can influence.
How are we going to be change agents?
1. Do very simple things in an organization or community right by upholding the law of members, community, organizations, country and the nature.
2. Follow all the divine laws of God in the Bible. They are the fundamental rules for righteous living. There is wisdom in the word of God.
3. Be morally, spiritually and ethically pure. Which means that we must not force ourselves to involved in activities that are morally questionable or allow someone to force you do this and that. For example, if you comrads say a candidate is offering an opportunity to get some bucks in order to give your precious votes. Will you accept it or not accept it? That is moral and ethical situation
In this scenerio, I believe that many will get the money because they have three alternative choices to make in the voting. But, you must remember that to be morally and ethically pure you must not get the money eventhough, you can vote for the leader that offers you the money.
Why??? In the future such decisions will determine your ability to make moral and ethical decisions. In PNG, we observed and complaint of corruption and that is the obvious effect of moral decay or collapse of the normal ethical standards of people. That is why people can just easily trade of their birth right for material goods or a K100.
4. Understand your Country's national constitution by heart and do not compromise it despite what ever situations you are. Alway uphold the constitution of the land. The word of God and the consitution goes hand in hand. And if you break a simple law of the constitution or even the very simple customary law that govern the community and your tribesmen, there is no guarantee that you will withstand temptation to break bigger laws.
5. You must have some vision/purpose in your life and budget your time very well to achieve those visions you have. And do not interfer with other people's business because one way or the other it will drag you from progress in life.
6. You must think creatively of what you can do for your country at the moment and that will be a blessing to yourself, your people, community, province, company and the country as a whole.
7. Will continue................on from here in the next discussions.
You are right my country man, thanks for your thoughts. When we talk about changes it all comes down to an individual in becoming a role model to others which are reflected by individuals. Your acts portrays and redirect other individuals' ways of thinking and act up on what they learn from you as an ambassador.
How about our elected leaders? They are the most corrupt ones who thought they are above the constitutions or laws governing this nation. I suggest we set up a group to assesinate those corrupt leaders and they will learn from these acts just like what happen in other countries. Otherwise we are going to suffer till death. Even the people in highest institutions are corupt and I see no hope for the future of this young nation.
What are some solutions and what shall we do to prevent such corrupt practises??????.....
Our elected leaders do not just appear to be like that just be themselves or by some sort of miracles. The very people who give the authority or give mandates are just you and me......Just think for a moment. The power to choose is with the people and we determine who could be our leader. The kind of leadership we have at the moment is what the people of this countrty deserve because they (we) used our freedom of choice to vote them into parliament.
So now we have the same power in our hands so we can remove those leaders who are bad and not performing what they should be. Sopose that an intelligent and well educated voted a leader into parliament, the leader will be more careful of his dealings. However, if a primitive and uninformed society voted in a leader into parliament, the leader will take advantage of the poor and disadvantaged people and not performed what he should do.
So now I beleive that the more Papua New Guineans become educated and understand the importance of electing good leaders than leaders will start to be conscious of the people because the people are no longer longlongs where the MPS can continue to manipulate and misuse their funds etc............people being educated and smarter will start to moniter the behavior of the mps and the way he or she uses development and people's money.
So the onus is to educate everyone in the community and where ever we are about the importance of strong moral and ethical principles that guide people to make just and rational decisions in their lives.
We in this forum must continue to think outside of the box and do something different so that by doing so will redirect the common mindset (cargo cult tin2) of Papua New Guineans.
So lets start training our minds and the way we are dealing with ourselves. After some time, you won't be surprised that your actions will gradually change for the better and attract or influence many. Then those that you influence will do the same thing to others and there it goes...........a double, triple and multiple effect of change. Then, everyone will have the same vision, aspirations and mindset. We can form a powerful group caloled agents for change and can change the people's mindset to vote in wise and credible leaders.
