Goroka under rampage after Declaration of Bire Kimisopa

July 31 2012 at 3:58 PM
Alekano

Supporters of losing candidates for the Goroka Open Seat went on rampage this morning destroying property, food gardens, chasing and assaulting students of a particular high school along the highlands highway. Two stuents reported to be badly injured with bush knieve wounds and are in critical condition at the Goroka General Hospital. It's very tense at the moment in Goroka town, and everyone is fearing a major assault could be carried out following this incident.

Obviously those who lost the lotto to potentially become multi multi millionaires (an almost guaranteed result of becoming an MP in PNG) are unhappy, can you blame them?

May I suggest a nice available house in Cairns and anothe one in Brisbane for Mr Kimisopa to buy once he settles into his new position of power?

A win for all people of Goroka

July 31 2012, 6:21 PM

Bire was already a multi-millionaire before he entered politics in 2002. Further, he already owns a house in Brisbane. He doesn't need Goroka District funds to prop up his business or to start-up any new ventures. Bire's declaration is a win for ALL the people of Goroka irrespective of how they voted.

A loss for the people of Goroka

July 31 2012, 7:29 PM

Wake up to the reality of the world, Biri supporter:

1. Career businessmen have, as their first priority, the earning of money to put into their personal pocket. Their first priority is NOT to help other people, it is to help themselves.

2. Bire is a career businessman.

3. It has been a sad history of PNG that when career businessmen get into power (become MPs), putting money into their personal pockets CONTINUES to be their top priority. Either they steal money directly to fund their businesses, steal money directly to supplement the profits from their businesses, or use their position of power to make new deals for themselves so more money will continue to pour into their private pockets.

NONE OF THIS IS ETHICAL OR MORAL. IT IS CORRUPT.

Peter Yama, Julius Chan, the list is long of successful career businesmen like your Bire who become MPs to do good and end up doing very well indeed... for their personal pockets!

Its been said that Goroka people are reknown for 2 things: believing lies and jealousy. This is proven by this phsycopath who doesn't know what hard work is. Opportunity is presented to us all. Some capitalize, and some don't. And the banks are there to prove of his relationship with them to help make him a millionaire. Secondly, have we checked the district treasury to see where goroka district funds were expended?

Grow up. Appreciate the quality and seer hardwork of people and shut up. Bloody useless.

You can say all you want about Bire Kimisopa, but you WILL NEVER get him to steal people's money. He is a very transparent leader, a man with integrity, and has never and will never steal from people's money. He was already rich before he went to politics. He does not need the people's money to buy himself house's in Brisbane or Cairns.

Julius Chan, Pais Wingti, Peter Yama, and ooohhhhhhh soooo many of our past leaders were also rich when they came to office and guess what? THEY STOLE! Once you have a mindset to make money for your personal pocket doing business, it's hard to get that out of your system even when you're supposed to be serving the people.

This point has been made before, why are you so oblivious to it? Your point is shown to be invalid. Next argument?

Bire Kimisopa will bring hope into the faces of PNG

August 1 2012, 9:56 AM

Congratulations Hon. Bire Kimisopa!!!

Kimisopa deserves the win. He is the man for Goroka. One unique quality in Bire is that he maintains his integrity despite circumstances. EHP and PNG needs leaders who have the caliber of Bire, a very committed christian and a no non-sense to corruption. He will bring in again some very quality leadership into the floor of parliament despite where ever side he may ended up in.

He is also a prime minister material and I beleive EHP and PNG need Bire and his win is a gain for the electorate, province and the country as a whole.

May God bless you and give you his wisdom to you Hon.Bire Kimisopa to provide the direction and bring some lights into the faces of our people in the electorate, province and the nation.

When the evil leaders bows out where they can not be retained, the righteous goes in and make the neccessary change to bring light and shed some hope into the country.

It's people with such low, low standards as yourself that pulls our country down to being a laughable banana republic. No country has ever developed with the kinds of low standards you promote. No country has any world respect that promotes what you promote. You're really pretty pathetic to get on an international internet forum and actually promoting that we should "just accept corruption".
I hope this case is taken to court and that the Grand Cheater Bire is reminded again and again here on pngscape of what he did. No people on earth are deserving of having a cheat as their representative.

Bire probably bribed better than his competetors. Apere Goso, Mr. Yes, MVL, Aiye, Thomson and the whole pack. You see, bribery is almost synonymous with politics in PNG, you can't separate the two (politics & bribery). Bribery can be in the form of gifts and cash.

If every one in Goroka chooses not to be bribed (cash or gifts) than your statement can be validated. Our candidates are only responding to what the people want. This is a fact. Yes it is pathetic but it is true.

I am a good citizen of Goroka and condone unjust acts, however, I can't decide for every one....

Losing candidates should not reort to violance, but do a postmortem on their strategy and prepare well for 2017. For now we can only have one winner and people of Goroka have spoken. He won on 2 & 3 preferences and not on 1st. That we all should know.

Goodness when will we appreciate that one of our own sons is affluent and intelligent and on par with Western Highlanders and Engans and Sothern Highlanders who are getting best Education in Australia? Why envy and wish he didn't succeed?

It seems we cannot stop. We keep on finding so many reasons to crucifiy one Eastern Highlander who has set a very high benchmark.I guess small people talk about other people, while big people like Kimisopa talks about big things. This is the difference. The less we talk about other people and focus on how we can succeed in life - Goroka will change. Otherwise we will be chained to our bad attitudes and go to grave losers, leaving no legacy for our children.

If Kimisopa was really "one with the people" and "had a heart for the people" he would have used his wealth to improve the schools in EHP as a private citizen (think of Kelly Naru), not using that money to allow his kids to escape the pathetic PNG educational system by being school overseas.

How Kimisopa decides to spend his money, given 2 choices, says more than he'd like us to notice about how much he truly "cares for the people".

There are many very rich people who live like grassroots and contribute their wealth in many ways to improve the lives of those around them. Kimisopa, in contrast, sends his kids to Aussie schools.

What a joke he is!

Kimisopa sending his kids to Aussie schools goes against constitutional values

August 11 2012, 6:28 AM

To add to what you said, may I ask the original poster whether the fairness and equality provision of our constitution was written because the writers of our consitution were jealous?????????

It is unfair and unequal for leaders like Bire to send their kids overseas to school while doing next to nothing to upgrade our own schools.

His true colour show. He's just like any other businessman, he's mostly concerned with himself and his own family's wealth and wellbeing.

Ideally we need church leaders to be our political leaders. The reason why this has failed is because out pastors are generally unprofessional and have never developed the spiritual strength they were supposed to have created within themselves to resist temptation. Thus, they take a vow of poverty but once they come close to money they can no longer resist it.

Instead, we need true spiritual pastoral leaders to guide our nation.

I worry that Bire Kimisopa is going to be another in a long string of loswers that show how stupid we are as voters.

Second, this crap about Bire in hospital with Aids and whatever other ailments is from a person who is of a very low life. You know every word that proceeds from your mouth either bring a blessing or a curse. And the ones from you will reverse back to you. You will live a miserable life for accusing an upright man who is full of wisdom and God fearing. My advice is judge him after 5 years and see whether Goroka has sent the right man to Waigani. Don't judge too early and there will be no by-election and court of disputed return will be a total waste of time.

Nope. I suspect that the complainers are fellow Papua New Guineans trying to stop the unending embarrassment with unbelievably bad english indicating to the whole world that we're ALL dumb and stupid (which isn't true, but that's the indication).
This isn't a chat room so you have time to spell things right. Others do, why can't we?

August 9 2012, 9:50 AM

Bire Kimisopa is a GOD fearing man, a man with intergrity, and is a well respected man in the community and the country. For you to say something like this without any prove what so ever is really sad. You have just displayed to the whole world how sick you are in you head and the level of hatred and anger you have in you. Please get some help.

May God trully forgive you for the anger, hatred and lies you are posting on the web. May HIS peace be with you brother.

SAVEPES - BIRE IN A WOLF SKIN

August 10 2012, 12:08 PM

Politic's is over, and people have moved on. What is your problem. If you have proof that Bire was involved in foul play at the rotary park, spell it out or better still why don't you volunteer to be a witness for one of the disgruntle loosing candidate and take it to court. Bire Kimisopa is a better choice for Goroka, the ballot has spoken.

You do not know Bire Kimisopa nor are you well versed with the happenings in PNG and therefore you cannot be blame for your ignorance.
Bire is a man with impeccable record locally, nationally, and internationally and you will never be in his shoes. Thomson Harokave couldn't even fit his shoe's in the 5years he was in power so Mr Savepes, you can be rest assured that Goroka is in very good hands.

Bire is now the elected member for Goroka .... period...... , wait for your turn in 2017...........

A Time to Reflect and Embrace Change

August 11 2012, 6:29 PM

I am a Goroka Open Candidate and I have accepted that there is only one person who can be the people's choice ore representitive in Parliament. Firstly, I would like to say sorry for instigating the riot and destruction of Kabiufa Adventist Secondary School and its staff and students.

I appeal to the other loosing candidates and supporters not to impead progress and let Mr. Kimisopa lead our beautiful District. I have told my supporters to accept the outcome and move forward with our normal lives and business.

I believe we the people of Goroka are law abiding and rational in our understanding and will persue good for our district.

Thank you,

Moses Venapo

Off course you cry for BAI Election and I would too if my candidate did not win.
Educated folks like you guys are much better off knowing spreading false agendas where most people in the village may assume it is true and further exaggerate making matters worse and giving false impressions. If you want to help I suggest you put financial contribution to those group of candidates who lost and are bringing the matter to the court of disputed returns.

Not The Goroka We Know Of

August 17 2012, 9:43 AM

I've read through all the posts here and one way or the way all sentiments have one aspect in common - a free and fair election, a better Goroka and Eastern Highlands. To start with Eastern Highlands and Goroka used to be the hub of all highlanders peaceful retreat. People from all over the highlands would come to the EH for beer, quite time with friends and families, business forums, political camps etc because it provided the absolute comfort and peace that was lacking in other highlands provinces. It is very disturbing to see the once hub of peace and hope going into the hands of opportunists and a few power hungary corrupt hooligans. Come on you Nokondi's, why can't you regroup and bring that pride back.

Goroka MP

September 6 2012, 11:00 PM

I have read with great interest the arguments for and against Bire Kimisopa. In all fairness, much of the arguments raised were more personal attacks and had nothing to do with his ability or inability to provide equitable leadership. Can he lead the electorate, province, and the nation?

I never voted for him because I do not like his leadership and also no former member for Goroka has ever been re-elected. I was quite supprised he won the election.

He has set out to investigate Thompson Haroqkaveh. My question is, which MP in this parliament is investigating their former MP's on how the DSIP and other government grants were being used? If Bire is corrupt he will never ever investigate TH because after 2017, the new MP will investigate him too!
