Are there any young and aspiring leaders of Komo-Margarima!!!!!!!!!!!!August 1 2012 at 10:13 AM | Name |

I am very interested about the leadership of Komo-Margarima because of one very important project that the whole nation and even the other countries will benefit from.
Komo-Margarima is the host to the multi-billion dollar PNG LNG Project and therefore, the people of Komo-Margarima, Hela, SHP and the country needs a very smart and visionary leadership. We currently have some leaders like Francis Potabe, the young and lawyer rurnner up Manessah Makiba and others I do not know.
Is there someon from the electorate or from the Hela region knows young and aspiring leaders who have the right leadership qualifications to lead the important electorate in the future???
The eyes of the government and the company exxon mobill will treat the people of the electorate and the Hela according to the leadership provided by the local MP. Therefore, I beleive in the near future, 2017 & 2022 etc, we have to have smart leaders.
Can you name some young educated man who are at university and are capable of leading the new province and the electorate when leaders like Alfred Kaiabe, Potabe, Agiru, Marabe and others become old and bows out of the scene>
Please help me identify some aspiring and upcoming young leaders from Komo-Margarima>

Theres hope with good leadership! I do not know the content of the BSA Agreement but I believe the BSA and LBBSA being signed on a condition that it be reviewed every five (5) or seven (7) years.
I'm not really sure but you see I concern on this because its not only the people of HELA especially the Komo people will benefit from this major project but the whole country will benefit from it through many spin off benefits like employment, contracts etc.
So its good to think positive that we as a country can seek for more advice to review the agreement when wise and clever leaders are elected into the parliament.
Thanks

LNG Project Benefits Mostly Foreigners
| LNG project: The Foreigners will Continue Laughing All the Way to the Bank | August 1 2012, 11:40 AM |
I don't think you understand the nature of the LNG project.
All the jobs created from the gas are mostly limited to the construction phase. Once the pipeline is in place, the number of jobs created by LNG will plunge down to only a few hundred for the whole project. The project is purposely designed to employ as few people as possible since the lower the labour costs, the more the profit to ExxonMobil. Score: Foreigners-1 PNG people-0
Construction is expected to be completed by 2014. At that time the port in Lae will suffer a big decline in incoming cargo. Not that this matters really-ExxonMobil was able to negotiate a ZERO import duty agreement on everything it imports for the LNG project. Score: Foreigners-2 PNG people-0
When the royalty money comes in, the vast majority of landowners will take that money and use it foolishly. They'll buy imported rice and other food, imported vehicles, imported this and that, or they'll fly on a foreign made airplane to a foreign owned hotel in POM and spend the money there. The end result is that our hard earned kina will flow out of our country just like water. Score: Foreigners-3 PNG people-0
Where do you see all this benefit that's going to go to the whole country? Yes, the government will earn the biggest share of royalties, but believe me, as much of that money as possible will be spent by Waigani people on Waigani people. Score Government-1 PNG people-0 |

LNG Project Benefits Mostly Foreigners,
you have provided some vital information about the project agreements. Thank you once again.
With your understanding and the factual information that you have provided, may I ask you one question please! Is there any possibilty of changing the BSA and LBBSA agreement in the near future?

The only way to change it is for the papa graun to organise themselves and block the project until the company bows down and renegotiates.
It's the only technique that's ever worked in the world in situations like this. No pain, no gain. |

Thanks for the discussion. Information is power.

REALITY CHECK
| Re: LNG project: The Foreigners will Continue Laughing All the Way to the Bank | August 1 2012, 12:17 PM |
Why would MPs vote to change such an agreement? For one thing, this is probably an NEC issue, and NOT a matter for all MPs. Secondly, they're going to be getting heaps of big money just leaving things the way they are. What motivation would they have to get involved in the messiness of renegotiating anything? It doesn't make sense that THEY would be for change. Only the grassroots would be. |

thanks. Where there is a hope there is a way. The negotiation and signing of the BSA and the LBBSA was signed by minority who would benefit directly on the expense of the landowners and the people of PNG.
With the right information and more Helas become educated, I beleive there will be possibities that the LNG Project Agreements be reviewed.
