Great! At least now we can have someone who is not scared to make the hard decisions and act on them as well. Tired of con-artist chruchie pastors and wannabes. Garry for Oro.
Stop predicting election outcomes before they happen. It makes you look like a sports commentator, not like a citizen concerned about good elections that finally might elect good people.
Qualifications of Mr Juffa? I'm not talking about having a strong tok personality - we've elected plenty of them already and they've turned out to be corrupt!
Garry Juffa is a university graduate with MA in Strategic Management and MBA under his belt. He is well qualified with much experience. The people of Oro should vote for him. He will be the hope for Oro to experience change and better development in years ahead.
How does he currently make his money? Is he into making business deals on the side?
All very important information (we have learnt thru hard experience) in judging the potential for our elected leaders to become corrupt once they're in power.
yes, blind voting is what past governors have been blindly voted in to take the hotseat and talk about there performance...very poor! it has been a disgrace for past governers. Juffa's credential cannot be doubted or questioned. Nationally, he is up in the ranks with good leaders: locally, its up to the people to decide, according to how he personally relates to them interms of providing support.

geez, u seem to have something personal against GJ.
What has he done to u that u r holding him against? Don't use the name "oro" becoz u ain't an Oro.
Juffa has never been a politician before. He resigned as PNG's no nonsence chief of Customs, for the sake of Oro & PNG. GF is a true Patriot, and PNG's best Public Servant. Oro province has nothing against her one of her best sons. Oro and PNG, we all owe it to Juffa for being PNG's best. To GJ, u r the Best.
The problem with people like geez (who is not an oro by blood or anything), they are simply nit wits, who have nothing constructive to offer, but just blah blahs & negativities.
Garry Juffa for Oro, Period !!!
he is worst of worst, may be you are his first secretary therefor you'r promoting him.
Did you forget that he never attended a parliament session - governor not present and you say he is best.that's not the governor we want - come on don't think small, think big
None of this is new. Oro has been called cowboy country for at least 20 years. The troubles started when the logging spread everywhere and people stupidly allowed everything, even their garden land to be covered with oil palm. The result was a generation of impoverished youth who now cause the problems.
If you're gonna blame the pollies, also blame the land use change which is at the bottom of all this trouble. And its not going to go away.
@ ORO.........last time on radio talk back, the Governor said em nogat haus long Oro Province so em base long POM....oloman ol bikpla Poagave haus built all over Northern na wanem kain excuses bilong em...........anyway, there is a lot of oil palm planting and cocoa planting and other important activities happening but the law and order and corruption in leadership and public service are really slowing the changes and development here, ol man nating tu wok long putim kainkain kon claim igo long BMS office na paulim planti samting........a big change in leadership is required in 2012 if Oro is going to benefit from all the big agriculture developments that are happening here....there are a number of former senior public servants and senior people who have been in the private sector and they all live in the Province and are oppose to the current situation, they should be screened out and elected in 2012. The fly in fly out people if elected will be like the current Governor......
I went to oro myself saw the place and its not what I had in mind.
Probably move the town to the beach.Spice it up a little.Fly in fly out is very true
I went to the town every day to see if i can atleast see a leader or see his car or some sign like of an oro elite or something.Did it for a few months then gave up.
If you want to have fun.Go to the villages and watch volleyball. And wait for okari nut season then go visit the market.
I feel sorry for you Oro people. Gary is from your place, he identifies himself as an Oro so why do you have a problem with him? If Gary has stolen your money or your wife or slept with your sister or belted you up, then that's a different issue.
You have to elect the best person, someone with the skills to manage your province and if Gary is not the best person then elect someone else. When you do and the results are still the same, well you can blame yourself.
Let me give you a live example; in our case, we elected a guy called Ronald Asik (I know, you have never heard of him). He was just a simple villager, he came to my village and cried and said " I am one of you, I eat yams without protein, just like you, I suffer, just like you, so vote for me and I will bring you services. Do not vote for anyone from Port Moresby." He then broke down and cried.
Well we voted for him and our situation did not change in the last 5 years. Our roads are still not sealed, our aid post has no medicine, our class rooms have no teachers.
This time we want to elect someone who has some brains and can network with the people at Waigani then maybe we can get things done. Enough of this rubbish about "mi mangi lo ples na mi bai helpim yu". We want the best person for the job and if that person is from Wosera/Gawi and lives in Port Moresby right now, well that's the person we want.
We want change and we will vote for change and if we do not get it, at least we changed our voting patterns.
Oro Province, failed governance basket case nominee for 2011

No, you haven't changed your voting patterns. You'll still be voting for the person who's smart enough to tell you what he THINKS you want to hear, just like always. And once they get into office, they'll do whatever they want, just like always.
"On the 27th October 2011, I resigned from the public service as Commissioner of the Papua New Guinea Customs Services"

"Gary, you worked hard in customs to make it an effective key agency. Unfortunately there were times when your political aspirations interfered with the strict role of your position as an impartial arbitrator and administrator of the Customs Act demanded. There were times when you used your position for self promotion......."
Is the Embahe guy ,the lawyer once they said represented Sylvester stallones court case some years ago and got a very big pay out from the actor? part Mendi and Oro? If he is then ,,maski just enjoy your money and law practice..larim Garry Juffa kisim seat blon Oro governor. The current governor is just hopeless and forever based in Pom not contributing anything constructive too in parliament.forever travelling overseas..
As long as you rely on politicians to bring change and development to communities, you'll literally wait forever. That was never the stable role of politicians, anywhere in the world. We have a dreamland idea of what politicians can do, of COURSE they can't measure up, then we blame them instead of ourselves for having ridiculous expectations in the first place.
Development comes from bottom up action and organisation from the communities themselves. Until you and the rest of us start understanding that, we'll sit on our arses forever.
People - Gary Juffa is a sheep in wolves skin. He will be no different to the rest of them. He talks very passionately about development but it will be a different story when he gets in. Believe me!!!
He was seen teasing small Hanuabada girls at Weigh Inn hotel lo 2ND Test blo State of Origion lo VIP lounge, shoutim ol liklik pispis nambaut...Honest mi faul yah,m pastor oh? oh m pastor promotim pamuk business?
GARY JUFA IS A SHIP IN THE WOLF-GIVE HIM X AND HE WILL WIN AND YOU ORO PEOPLE SUFFER ANOTHER TERM AGAIN - GOOD LUCK IN YOUR SUFFERING
HIS CURRENT ACCOMPLICES ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DOWNFALL OF ORO.
SO ONCE AGAIN SUFFER GUT NA ANOTHER DISASTER BAI KAM RAUSIM YUPLA OLGETA WANTIM GAVANA BLO YUPLA NA BAI YUPLA 64.
Brat mi jealous lo em - mi wari lo ol pipol blo mi suffer, olsem na mi laikim man husait save lo hevi blo ol man.Yu save olsem oro province save suffer too much.
Yu must also know that Oro province is the last province in the nation in terms of everything.
Will Gary Juffa bring Oro up to number one position in the nation??
If he doesn't improve ORO THAN YU HOLIM KOK BLO EM NA 64 NA WAITIM CYCLONE GUBE BAI KAM NA RAUSIM YU TUPLA WANTAIM.
My friend. If you don't know much about Garry Juffa, don't bother wasting your time posting comments on this site.
Have you ever had time to read the papers about how he successfully ran the PNG Customs office as the commissioner? He put millions into the country's coffer and exceptionally one of the best managers in modern png and is a household name both on png and abroad.
If you are one of those corrupt public servants that dined and wined with your political masters and deprived the people of Oro basic services over the years, YOUR DAYS ARE OVER. Garry will sent you packing.
LONG LIVE GARRY and congratulation on your win as Governor elect. You are a true oro mei.
The person who is having negative about Gary is the person who part takes in stealing Oro people's fund and he is worried because all those good times of stealing will be diminished and they will be persecuted soon therefore is coming with all the negative comments. He will not have any chance of stealing big amount of money.
Since Gary is elected, let's wait & see if they will be any improvements & changes.gary must all also change the all of Oro administration, public servants & people in that chain - because this very people might spoil his good work & name.
What Garry Juffa will learn very quickly is that being an effective politician requires quite different skills to becoming an effective government bureucrat, which is what he was previously.
