Hi guys,
Hows it going.
Iv just started practicing template making with clingfilm wrap today and have encountered some issues.
Would really appreciate any help.
Ok,so
1.I still have quite a lot of hair and it is quite curly.it seems to make it more difficult to get marker on the wrap as it is being drawn over a 'bumpy' area shall we say rather than a smooth bald area.
Should i shave my head to blade 1 or 2 before doing this?
2.I found it very difficult to do the back area?As in,the area below my crown.
i guess i will get better with time?
3.If i were to get a salon guy to make a template for me could i just keep those specific measuements or requirements and then use them from then on?just seems easier at the minute.
So yeah,it was a bit frustrating today but ill keep going till i get it right

The first template is always the toughest, especially when you have some existing hair. I was still using concealer when I did my first template and had a decent amount of my own hair, so I know what you mean about not knowing exactly where to draw the lines.
It is easier to do with help, especially in that back area....but you can get it if you can free up both hands and not have to hold the saran wrap. If you use a long enough piece of saran wrap you can tie it off under your chin instead of having to hold it tight with one hand. Then you can hold a handheld mirror in one hand and your sharpie in the other.
Going to someone for your first one since you have a decent amount of hair might be the best bet, then once you make the transition to a piece and have your head shaved, the future templates will be easy. You'll be able to use that first one for a long time and only need to make a new one if your balding area grows.
The other way you can do it is measure the length and width you need the piece to be...then order by measurement, but add 1/2" to each measurement to be safe. Then when you get it cut in, they can just cut the small amount of excess length and width from the sides and back. Let's say you think you need to cover an area 6" wide x 8" long...I would order it as 6 1/2" wide x 8 1/2" long and then just decide on a front curvature. CC is going to be more round and an A front is going to have more recession. Your back curvature will come back round and can be trimmed to match exactly with the extra length you've provided.
Just a couple of options....hope they help and hopefully others will give you some advice as well.

Thanks Eric,for your reply.
I will try to free up my other hand.
Can i ask,if i send in the first template do u guys keep it so that it can be used again?
Thought it would have been thrown away.
Also, for the front,i see in Mbaldys Dvd he uses a V Shape.
Im a young guy in my 20s,do u think this would be age appropriate?
Thanks
