I just received this customer photo and was given permission to post it on the forum as long as his face was cropped out.
This is a photo of a skin perimeter piece with french lace in the middle for breathability. This was cut in by the customer himself using a Robocut. He also pointed out that he uses a product called Paul Mitchell Wax Works and some water to set his hair. This is a medium light piece with slight graduation.
I think he did a fantastic job on this, I've seen the full face photo and it really looks great with his overall facial features as well. He did say he is definitely going with a lower density on his next piece because he's not able to get the blend he needs at the sides and back with this.

So the front hairline is skin?
Its very impressive and just looks like a regular guy with a regular head of hair.
I personally don't see a density issue, it looks right to me, but I'm not the one wearing it!

Yes, that's knotted thin skin at the front. The knotted skin allows the hair to have more lift to match the ventilation on the french lace in the middle.

I was just sent this photo tonight with his sunglasses on so it shows more of his facial features and after his final cut (he went back through and took a small amount of length off the hair). I think he did an incredible job with his Robocut...I would never know this was a piece. Extremely natural in my opinion.
I will ask if he would mind sharing his tips on using the Robocut for those that have always wondered about machine cut ins with either that or a Flowbee.

I wanted to pass the photo of the underside of this piece on for newbies. This is what he started with...he has a thin skin front with poly on the sides and back and french lace in the middle.
See how odd a piece looks before it's cut in....now look how it can look after by looking at his photos again. This is something very important that I try to give new wearers a heads up on....a hairpiece always looks bizarre at first and you think "how in the heck could this possibly look right on me"?? I used to think the same thing.
A piece at say 6" and all curly right out of the package and plopped on your head is going to look like a wig in almost all circumstances....but when they are cut down and thinned out/layered a piece can look fantastic if you've got a good match to your own hair with your specs.
All the photos you see that people post are photos of the end result...they all started with something similar to this:

Including that last pic of the piece right out of the bag is REALLY helpful, Eric ... seeing the contrast, not only in the curl, but the color, is striking compared to the finished look.
And ... the updated look in the second pic of the wearer does seem improved in the blending at the sides. The back and side blending is where I struggle to get an undetectable look. My hairline, even fully exposed, is much less challenging.

Eric was this cut down to his template or did he order this as a custom? Are you able to cut into the hairline to make the contour shape you want with a Skin system?
Can he tell us what was used to atttach this system to his head for the front and sides and back.

This is the .08 thin skin at the front. This is a full size stock piece and he is using the whole stock from how I understood it, he is literally at the point where he is holding off switching to full caps.
The important thing on a lace/skin combo piece when you want lift is that you use v-looping or knotting on the skin area so that it has more body/lift to the hair. If you do injected skin with knotted lace, the hair is going to want to lay flatter in the injected skin area, so you are going to have to go with a style that lays down a little more.
