Well I have been a big part of the hockey community for a long time and it is coming to an end. My D just finished her last year here and will be playing in US for D3 school starting in fall. To be honest wasnt exactly what we were hoping for but she is excited to be able to keep playing the game she has played since she was able to stand .

There have been alot of good teams and coaches and some terrible ones over the years. Unfortunatly we finished on a bad one. To all you parents and girls still coming up , GOOD LUCK !
I have come to one final conclusion. No matter where you play the coach will always have their favorites on the team and will always give them extra ice, rules will not apply to all , and some will be treated differently than others.

This was one of the worst years we had for favoritism . We had a line of girls sit on the bench every game. They would play 2 shifts in a period including first and second. When the game is close and on the line , sure play your favs but when you are losing to a team 5-0 and still shortening the bench something is wrong . When asked by the parents she said they have role on team? I didnt know one of the roles of a hockey player was to warm the bench every game ??

If you are going to play Midget or Int AA make sure you are getting a coach that is willing to help your D go to the next level. Of course your D must do alot of work herself and get noticed and notify schools , but it helps if coach is supportive and pushing as well.

Funny thing is in the end her key star player , even though got all the ice and played every special teams , every second shift , promised the world is still leaving for greener pastures.

This was an extremely disappointing year and fortunatley my D was lucky enough to get committment anyway.
She was not one of the 3 sitting all year. I just think as parents, it has to be extremely frustrating and upsetting seeing your D sit on bench when everyone else is playing. I spent all year seeing these parents upset and frustrated.

My question is this . How can you develop a player if she is not given the chance to play ? There were 70 girls at tryouts why take them if you were not going to play them or, Ok think you could develop them ? Is that not a good coaches job?

      BTW This was Int AA

Good luck to everyone in years to come.
