Angus,
The problem in any religion will be the people in it, far more
than anyone outside of the religion.
Power and wealth develop over time and then become more
important than whatever the original goal was and this is hardly
only a Christian problem. It is the most common problem of the
larger religions and it is the danger waiting for the smaller religions
if they follow the same route.
Now there is another option to connect with the god/dess direct.
Make it a personal search to find what is wanted of you and what
you can do to get closer to the deity. Certainly you can connect
without going through human leaders or priests/ministers if you
chose.
In the case of religions with holy books, you can study them yourself
and apply what you learn to your own life. In my case I study nature
as did my ancestors. the natural rules and laws were created by the
creator and were our original holy books.
I am not sure we can find that all people can fit in one religion, one
denomination. I think there is a personal lesson to be learned. So one
size cannot fit all as we have different strengths and different weakness
to work with and this will give us slightly different lessons to learn.
As Christianity is not my religion, I think I have more important things
to do rather than decide what is right or wrong with Christians or their
religion. That is their job and their responsibility and I will not interfere
with them or their religion. I will leave each religion to its own believers
and followers and concentrate on my religion and more importantly my
practice and belief. let each religion clean up its own act and show by
example what they can be.
Blessed Be,
Christopher
