Meanwhile King George III, we forgive you. Any chance you would be willing to take us back? It has not turned out quite as we thought it would. Freedom is really a lot of work and most of us don't really want to make any decisions if we an help it. We are mostly quite content to let some one in authority run our lives, just as long as we get our talk shows, sports games, and soap operas on the telly. We certainly would not go to the bother of revolting now, when even a peaceful demonstration is reason for the police to use gas and bean bag guns, a tasers. After all what do the such trouble makers expect? Even that formally troublesome media rarely bothers to cover it these days. Quite an improvement don't you think, Your Majesty?
So you can see, we are much more civilized today, much more willing to follow our King. More than even the English would be. We have a nice capital city to move into, even a little palace for your use. You can even build a wall around it, just call it an anti-terroist measure.
As for the Declaration of Independence and that so called Constitution, we pay no attention to it any more. We hardly even mention it to our students these days anyway.
So how about it Your Majesty? Think you could take us back? Don't worry, a tax on tea would not even raise a ripple now days, just as long a the wealthy are not required to pay it.

Don't listen to these people who say that they live UNDER GOD, but do not at all times do what God wants, nor omit doing what God doesn't want them doing. And who have a currency made out of paper, not at all out of precious metal, on which it says that they trust in God. Do What? or NOT do What? Can God trust them? Probably not!
..... So stay in your comfortable place wherever it is (Heaven or Hell or Where?) And, if you can, just weep.

The other option is to laugh at the blind stupidity of it.

QUITTNER
You keep assuming that God takes mankind seriously.
Perhaps we are only comic relief, something to give
him the giggles after dealing with the more serious
matters of the on going creation.
Certainly our feeling of self importance is comical,
the idea that we are the central reason for all the rest
of creation. Has there even been anything else with
such a level of inflated ego? How perfect would it be
for him to tell us we were an after thought, a little
doodle while trying to solve one of the more difficult
problems of creation.
A single strand in the vast webbing of reality, necessary
as all things in reality are for a particular reality to exist,
but not more valuable then any other strand, if not less
either.
Meanwhile do you honestly believe that King George would
have worried about what God thought of his actions?
Remember he assumed that God gave him the right to rule
as he saw fit and would back him at all cost. Instead he was
allowed to sink into his insanity after being one of the most
astute political kings England ever had, reestablishing a level
of rule by king not seen in centuries.
Blessed Be,
Christopher

I suppose most kings/queens are getting "properly" brainwashed by clergy from early childhood, and George III may have cared quite a lot about what God, as interpreted/defined by that clergy, would have wanted him to do or not to do.
..... Probably a king's insanity is one of the few escape routes from whatever is expected of him to do - all these ceremonies with carefully scheduled time all day(?), every day(?). No freedom for monarchs since early childhood! LET FREEDOM REIGN even for kings and queens, princes and princesses!

Since Kings and Queens could only marry other royalty
that was a lot of inbreeding and insanity and other problems
were quite the norm among the royal families.
Hence the reason it finally dawned on them there might be
some advantages of getting some new blood into the Royals
and most manage to marry into commoners, if high class ones.
Of course there is a rather noticeable shortage of royal
families left as well. [Grin]
Blessed, Be,
Christopher
