Given that anyone who is neither a Christian nor a Jew is defined as being a Pagan, there are very many of them all over this planet, and very likely they ignore whatever any Christian writer writes about Pagans.
..... As I keep repeating, there are very many belief systems available to anyone to choose from freely in many country, or none of them.

many belief systems because many different people and needs

For some reason humans seem to be individually unique, even though similar in may ways. For this reason alone we must assume that no one belief system can comfortably fit them all.
If we were meant to be the same we would have been designed that way, so any system that tries to make us all the same will fail. The more we try to enforce order them more we create chaos. The reverse is also true, the more chaotic things get the sooner some new order will become. Like most things in nature it is a constant ebb and flow process. Nothing succeeds forever and all things must be able to adjust to drastic change or they cease to be.

As for the Christians, or any other people with a holy book, please understand that the holy book means something only to those in the religion. It is useless to quote scripture to someone outside of the religion for it means nothing at all to outsiders. Understanding this will save people with holy books a great deal of frustration, and everyone else a lot of wear and tear.

Belief and non belief are both matters of personal opinion. I have never noted that opinion was ever affected by facts of any kind. Each will see only what justifies his opinion. So at some point we must agree to disagree to get on with more important things in life, such as solving the many problems of living. Many of these problems require that we be able to work together no matter how much we may disagree with each other on numerous things.

Wisdom is what is left after you have done all the dumb stuff.

Yes, BUT!

Given that there are very many people on this planet with very many belief systems to choose from, or none of them, Those who can left theirs may be frustrated and believe that it's all just a money-making device for clergy. The problem is that some, or many, or even all belief systems have undergone changes - their originators probably would angrily reject their many modern versions.
..... As for Christianity, there are, last I read it, about 3000 different denominations - all of them claiming to be Christianities. And as I keep repeating, the only valid, authorized one, is the one by Jesus.
..... What is YOUR aim now that you're a "Religious Refugee"? Good luck!

Of course they change

Quittner,

Of course they change and splinter, how can they not and still survive.
Unchanging religion dies out. but we should also realize that no
amount of arguing is going to change anyone's belief or lack of it. That
is why all the arguments and fights are just wasted energy.

Now organizing religion seems to begin the push for wealth and power
and that leads to corruption. It also leads to factions orthodoxy and heretics.
For that reason I will always be a solitary. That is the only way to keep my
freedom and I really don't care what anyone else thinks about, nor do I have
any reason to push my view on others.

It is time we got rid of this mind frame of leaders and followers and let
each person figure it out for themselves and leave them to whatever that
they decide. We can come together and cooperate when it is in our mutual
benefit, but we should never fall into the trap of being a leader of a follower.

Personal fights and arguments are not normally dangerous until others
get involved and start taking sides and then the become serious and dangerous.
Like a school yard fight, two guys by themselves and bit of pushing and shoving,
and punch or two, perhaps a black eye or a split lip. But put a crowd of people
around it egging it on.

Blessed Be,

Christopher

What's it like being a hermit?

You wrote: ... Personal fights and arguments are not normally dangerous until others get involved and start taking sides ..." So what is the alternative? Shun others? "I want to be alone!"? Be a hermit?
..... Compare with what churches were supposed to be originally - artificial "families" consisting of friends only, with a life of happiness, all members saved from the "rat race" of "normal" society?
