St. Clair Storm Senior Lacrosse Association

The St. Clair Storm Senior Lacrosse Association is pleased to announce that the Storm will be playing their 2002 season in Wallaceburg. The St. Clair Storm executive has decided to name Wallaceburg their hometown. The team will still draw players from the South Western Ontario region. The Storm anticipates a 16 game schedule in 2002, which means 8 regular season home games will be played at the Wallaceburg Memorial Arena.

The reason Wallaceburg was chosen as the Storm’s hometown is because Wallaceburg is the most centralized location, the Wallaceburg community has been the organization’s largest financial supporter, and a majority of the Storm’s executive and volunteers are from Wallaceburg. The executive initiated this decision by the feedback they received from players and fans from last season, requesting that the organization choose one hometown. The executive hopes that the move will allow the Storm to adapt a strong fan base and regain some stability among the team.

The Storm has named their 2002 season executive, President - Ken O’Neil, Vice President - Jason Fields, Treasurer - Kerrie Fields, Promotions - Brian Gale, Secretary - Jessie Berilli, Executive Members – Kellie Johnston, Debbie Renaud, Ron Riviat, Jim Bell. The Storm has also named a new General Manager for the 2002 season, which will be Ray Renaud from Windsor. Ray has been involved in lacrosse for over 25 years and is well recognized in the Zone 7 Ontario Minor Lacrosse Association. He will be an integral part of assisting the Storm to achieve the high level of lacrosse that they are capable of. Ray will be recruiting players and coaches for 2002 season, within the near future. Everyone is welcome to become a part of the fast growing team. If any potential players or coaches are interested in joining the Storm, please contact Ray Renaud at (519) 254-3459. The Storm is planning to host a set of tryouts in Windsor and Sarnia and possibly London in early April, and make the team’s final cuts in Wallaceburg.

The St. Clair Storm still wants people to become involved with the organization in some capacity, be it a volunteer or an executive member. Also, the organization is searching for productive fundraising opportunities, if anyone has any suggestions please contact Ken O’Neil at (519) 892-6933 koneil@rivernet.net or Kellie Johnston at (519) 627-0550.

The St. Clair Storm would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the Wallaceburg Red Devils on their exciting journey in winning the Founder’s Cup. We are very proud of you all.
