Shenanigans –
At about the half way mark of the first period, Casey Zaph slashed Chris Panos and Panos retaliated by a punch. Both continued to jaw back and forth on the way to the penalty box. Zaph received 2 mins for slashing and Panos 2 mins for roughing. Both received an additional 10 min misconduct for extracurricular activities on the way to the penalty box.
At about the 4 min mark of the third period, Colin Doyle was flattened by Kyle Laverty. No penalties were called. Doyle needed assistance from the trainer. Later in the period a Brampton defender flattened Steve Evans. Again no penalties were called.
Notes:
Game was broadcast on cable and will be shown on Saturday. Check your local listing.
Both refs let the players decide a winner in a game 7 situation, although there was some heavy hitting by both teams. Panos and Driscoll were mixing it up all game.
The last two Peterborough goals were both awarded goals under Rule 60 (i), interference on the ball or offensive player by an illegal player on the floor. Brampton started to pull their goal with four minutes to go and in trying to prevent the last two goals had an extra player interfere with Accursi and then Robertson.
John Grant stepped up his game every time Brampton made the score close.
Amount of 50/50 winnings was not announced but should be substantial considering the crowd.
